Xiao Yiqing instructed Chi Xiaotai to keep the secret of his Lovesick Tears, warning that its exposure would harm Snow Tower. Chi Xiaotai tearfully asked if he was oblivious to her feelings. Xiao Yiqing replied that Master died because of him, so he owed her his life and had to fulfill Master's last wishes, feeling his sickly body couldn't protect her for a lifetime of peace. However, Chi Xiaotai was looking for a different response from him.
Later, Chi Xiaotai sought out Gao Mengfei, lamenting her perceived flaws. Gao Mengfei reassured her, finding her imperfections endearing. Yet, Chi Xiaotai expressed her frustration that despite her efforts and sincere repentance, Xiao Yiqing remained indifferent, showing more concern for any news of Shu Jingrong. She even wished she had injured herself more severely to fully turn Xiao Yiqing against Shu Jingrong, hoping he would then notice her.
Gao Mengfei, angered, questioned if she was harming herself merely for Xiao Yiqing's sympathy, warning her against self-abandonment. Chi Xiaotai clarified that she was striving to improve herself and contribute to Snow Tower, believing that only through her own strength would Xiao Yiqing truly acknowledge her. She pointed out the stark difference in status between Gao Mengfei and Shu Jingrong, despite their shared training, as an example of the importance of strength and recognition.
Gao Mengfei declared that he cared only for his place in Chi Xiaotai's heart, not his status in Snow Tower, and urged her not to exploit his affection. Chi Xiaotai stressed that position meant everything in Snow Tower, reminding him of the Sand Valley incident and Shu Jingrong's lingering wariness. She expressed her desire to become strong enough to protect him and herself.
Motivated by her words, Gao Mengfei vowed to contend for the position of Tower Master for her sake, though he made it clear that if her heart remained with Xiao Yiqing, he would withdraw. Later, Chi Xiaotai approached Gao Mengfei again, chastising him for avoiding her for two days. Gao Mengfei, still upset, admitted he was angry and warned her that his patience had limits, and that an apology did not always guarantee forgiveness.
Meanwhile, Shu Jingrong and Nangong Wugou were ambushed. Nangong Wugou, feigning ignorance, subtly suggested that the attackers' Snow Tower swordplay indicated a spy within the Tower or perhaps direct involvement from Xiao Yiqing, implying that Snow Tower sought the Guo Se Sword. Just then, Gao Huan arrived with reinforcements, sent by Xiao Yiqing after learning of Shu Jingrong's danger. The attackers quickly retreated.
Back at Snow Tower, Xiao Yiqing suffered from the Lovesick Tears, his pain intensifying with thoughts of Shu Jingrong. Zi Mo reported rumors circulating that Snow Tower was behind the Yin family's extermination and was holding the Yin daughter, Liu Zhu, captive to forge the Guo Se Sword. Upon Shu Jingrong and Nangong Wugou's return, Xiao Yiqing rushed to greet Shu Jingrong, his special concern for her noted by Nangong Wugou.
Xiao Yiqing quickly arranged medical treatment for Nangong Wugou's injuries. Shu Jingrong immediately confronted Xiao Yiqing, questioning if he was involved in Nangong Wugou's ambush. She recounted that the assassins used Snow Tower's Chuihua House swordplay, were ordered to show her mercy, and retreated upon Gao Huan's arrival. Xiao Yiqing admitted to orchestrating the ambush, stating his intention was to protect her.
Shu Jingrong pressed further, asking if Snow Tower was connected to the Yin family's extermination, Nangong Wugou's ambush, the Heavenly Arsenal Manual, and the Guo Se Sword, pointing out that Snow Tower seemed to be the ultimate beneficiary. Xiao Yiqing, hurt by her suspicion, confirmed her accurate assumptions, darkly remarking that few could resist the Guo Se Sword.
He acknowledged that the extermination of the Yin family, the rescue of their daughter, and the acquisition of the manual and the Guo Se Sword all benefited Snow Tower. Shu Jingrong was stunned by his admissions, and Xiao Yiqing, angered by her suspicions and accusations, then angrily departed. Separately, Zi Mo attempted to extract information about the Nangong family from a man at Feng Qing Garden by flirting with him. Huang Quan, witnessing this, became enraged, driving the man away.
He apologized to Zi Mo, explaining that he couldn't bear to see her force smiles. Zi Mo, however, lamented his interference, as the man had connections to the Nangong family. Huang Quan then directly asked if she loved him. Tearfully, Zi Mo expressed her unworthiness, citing her past as a concubine and her current life as a courtesan. Huang Quan dismissed her background, asserting that he only wanted her honest answer, and they embraced.
Nangong Wugou continued to manipulate Liu Zhu. While recovering from his "injuries," he told Liu Zhu that Snow Tower had arranged his ambush. He presented a letter, supposedly hidden in the Yin ancestral hall, from Xiao Yiqing's father, Xiao Shishui, requesting the Guo Se Sword years ago. He then linked this to the assassins' use of Chuihua House swordplay, concluding that Xiao Yiqing was the mastermind behind the Yin family's massacre.
Nangong Wugou argued that Snow Tower's timely arrival to save Liu Zhu only after her family was exterminated was suspicious, implying it was a calculated move to gain access to the Guo Se Sword. He also reasoned that only Snow Tower would know the perfect timing for such an attack, given their supposed protection of the Yin family for years. Liu Zhu was distraught, believing Xiao Yiqing to be a cruel man.
Nangong Wugou promised Liu Zhu that if she successfully forged the Guo Se Sword, he would avenge her family and marry her, using a golden hair bell as a token of their vow. After forging the Guo Se Sword, Liu Zhu proposed to hold a sword appreciation ceremony, inviting heroes from across the martial world to lure out the true culprit.
If the culprit did not appear, she suggested the sword be awarded to whoever could find the assassin and avenge her family. Shu Jingrong found this to be a sound plan. Nangong Wugou offered the Nangong family's assistance to Snow Tower, but Xiao Yiqing, who suddenly felt a recurrence of his illness, cryptically asserted that Snow Tower's strength lay not just in its power but in its schemes and plans, and he would not permit others to covet it.
Later, Shu Jingrong persuaded Xiao Yiqing to agree to Liu Zhu's proposal for the sword appreciation ceremony, arguing that it could clear Snow Tower's name and identify the real enemy. Xiao Yiqing, still resentful of her previous accusations, reluctantly consented. Liu Zhu then thanked Shu Jingrong for her help and for convincing the Tower Master.
She expressed her belief in Xiao Yiqing's love for Shu Jingrong and offered to gift the Guo Se Sword to them both at the ceremony as a blessing for their union. However, before the ceremony, Liu Zhu wished to return to the Yin residence to pay respects to her parents. Despite the inherent dangers and the impending ceremony, Shu Jingrong agreed to accompany her. Upon hearing of Shu Jingrong's impulsive departure with Liu Zhu, Xiao Yiqing was furious. Nan Chu then suggested sending guards to protect them, to which Xiao Yiqing reluctantly agreed, remarking on the ongoing danger and Shu Jingrong's impulsiveness.
