Wary of involving more people, Zhan Junbai had Qiu Ming call Jin Dacheng and order him back to the police bureau. Shortly after leaving Bai's Mansion, a dazed Jin Dacheng collapsed on the roadside. Spotting him, Zhan Junbai ordered his men to dump him elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Chu Ran visited Chen Yuzhi and confirmed his suspicions: the massacre was a fabrication and Jiang Yuelou’s actions were part of a larger plan to arrest the Third Uncle and save Chen Yuzhi. She revealed that Zhan Junbai, the Financial Executive, was the Third Uncle, describing him as a malicious man disguised as a benevolent one. Urging Chen Yuzhi to go into hiding to protect Jiang Yuelou, Chu Ran offered her apartment as a safe house.
She explained she had also changed her meeting point with Jiang Yuelou to her apartment, ensuring the two could reunite there. Back at Bai's Mansion, Commissioner Bai also consumed the drugged soup and collapsed. Zhan Junbai and Qiu Ming arrived, tying up the unconscious Commissioner. Inside, she told Bai that she had met with Jiang Yuelou, knew of "their plan," and that Jiang had confirmed Zhan Junbai was the Third Uncle. Feigning disbelief, Bai questioned her credibility, stating he would only trust such news from Chen Yuzhi himself. Just as Commissioner Bai dismissed Chu Ran, a passing officer's greeting to Jin Dacheng revealed he had been eavesdropping outside the door.
