Following his breakup with Jiang Ling'er, Jiang Fang packed his belongings. He hesitated before taking a photo of them together, a memento of their past, as Jiang Ling'er wished him well, expressing her belief that he would rediscover his former ambitious self. Ye Feimo's condition continued to worsen. During a visit, Gu Yunzhou and Li Can found him in severe pain.
Gu Yunzhou confronted Ye Feimo, arguing that hiding his illness from Xiaonuan was a deceitful act, not a protective one. He warned that despite Ye Feimo's pretense of indifference, his love for Xiaonuan was obvious, and she would resent him forever if she discovered the truth later. As they argued, Ye Feimo's pain intensified until he could barely breathe, forcing Gu Yunzhou and Li Can to call for a doctor and the medical staff to usher them out.
Returning to the small fishing village, Jiang Fang sought out Xiaonuan. He apologized sincerely for breaking his promises and hurting her, clarifying that he wasn't asking for forgiveness but wanted to admit how absurd his past actions had been. He confessed to being lost in ambition, always seeking shortcuts, while she had humbly and steadily worked to achieve her dreams—saving the Fusheng Theater and becoming an actress, a goal he once dismissed.
Their conversation was interrupted by Xiaokai, who angrily accused Jiang Fang of harassing his sister. Xiaonuan sent Xiaokai away and led Jiang Fang to the theater to talk privately. She acknowledged that she had let go of the past, and they could now speak as old friends. Jiang Fang revealed he had left Yaohua and planned to start over from his roots. Impressed by his renewed determination, Xiaonuan offered her encouragement.
Before leaving, Jiang Fang told her the truth: Ye Feimo had stomach cancer. He explained that although Ye Feimo wanted to keep it a secret, she had the right to know and make her own choice. Meanwhile, Ye Feimo's illness had progressed to the point where he needed an oxygen mask. Li Can visited, showing him a video compiled from their project, "Twin Flowers", which highlighted Xiaonuan's performance.
Despite Ye Feimo's initial refusal, Li Can insisted, urging him not to run from his feelings. In the video, Xiaonuan's voice questioned why he had broken his promise to always be by her side, asking why he chose to suffer alone when she believed true partners face everything together, even until the end of their lives. Her words spurred Ye Feimo into action. At the same time, Xiaonuan, reeling from Jiang Fang's revelation, was running to find him.
In her mind, she berated herself for being foolish, for not recognizing the early signs of his illness, for not trusting him, and for leaving him to suffer alone. Weakened but determined, Ye Feimo left the hospital and found Xiaonuan. She urged him to go back, but he first apologized for his hurtful words and begged for her forgiveness.
He declared his love, vowing that even if he only had one day left, he wanted to spend every second with her. They embraced tightly, wishing time would stand still. Ye Feimo lamented that he would have to break his promise of a lifetime together, but Xiaonuan tearfully forbade him from saying such things, insisting he would recover. He replied that he desired nothing more than to be with her, as she was the most beautiful scenery in his world.
Just then, a breathless Xiaokai arrived. After playfully teasing them about their dramatic reunion, he revealed the shocking news: the hospital had been trying to reach Ye Feimo to apologize for a grave error—he had been misdiagnosed and did not have cancer. Overjoyed and relieved, Ye Feimo and Xiaonuan embraced once more. Elsewhere, Jiayi had been listless since her separation from Gu Yunzhou. As she wandered aimlessly, a mysterious bouquet of flowers appeared, followed by a familiar bear doll.
Inside, she found a handwritten note from Gu Yunzhou: "I'll always wait for you where we started. Whenever you're ready, I'll be there." Though she initially dismissed it as a prank and regretted pushing him away, she rushed to their "starting place." Finding no one there, Jiayi was filled with regret, only to be startled by Gu Yunzhou appearing behind her. He told her he understood her fears and her reasons for avoiding him, acknowledging the differences in their backgrounds.
However, he declared that his love for her was stronger than any fear of an uncertain future and that he refused to give up a single moment with her. Stating they were adults who should make their own thoughtful decisions, Gu Yunzhou knelt and proposed. Jiayi tearfully and joyfully accepted, finally freeing them both to be together.
