Episode 1 Recap
At a meeting with foreign partners, Anning Culture's CEO, Ye Feimo, listened as they proposed casting the internationally acclaimed actress Han Hui for a leading role. However, Feimo's mother and Anning's Chairwoman, Ms. Cheng, flatly rejected the proposal, unwilling to work with the woman who had hurt her son in the past. Firm in her decision, Ms. Cheng stated she didn't care which overseas company they partnered with, as long as it didn't involve Han Hui.
Concerned that Feimo might still have feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Cheng began arranging a series of "accidental" encounters with various women, much to his annoyance. Her suspicions were heightened when a girl in a costume fell in front of them, and both she and Feimo's assistant, Lin Zheng, noted the girl's resemblance to a young Han Hui.
Fed up with his mother's meddling, Feimo dismissed a new secretary she had hired and, when another woman staged a fall in front of him, told her to tell his mother to stop the charade. Later, while having dinner with his friend Gu Yunzhou, Feimo was teased about his mother's matchmaking attempts and his inability to move on from Han Hui. Annoyed, Feimo went to the washroom.
On his way back, he mistakenly entered the wrong private room and was suddenly kissed by a drunken Wen Xiaonuan. Heartbroken and intoxicated, she mistook him for her ex-boyfriend, "Jiang Fang," tearfully questioning why he cheated on her before apologizing for hurting him with the kiss. Gu Yunzhou, who followed Feimo, was stunned by the scene and, noticing Wen Xiaonuan's resemblance to Han Hui, quickly pulled Feimo away, citing a company emergency.
Earlier that day, Wen Xiaonuan had been shooting a commercial dressed as a strawberry, with her then-boyfriend, Jiang Fang, watching. He discouraged her from taking such demanding part-time jobs, which she explained were necessary to support her family's struggling Huangmei Opera troupe. Jiang Fang suggested she abandon the troupe, calling it a burden, but Wen Xiaonuan refused, insisting it was her support system. Later, she was overjoyed when Jiang Fang announced he had been hired by the prominent company, Yaohua.
However, her happiness was short-lived. At a restaurant, she saw Jiang Fang with another woman, Jiang Ling'er, who introduced herself as the sister of Yaohua's CEO and Jiang Fang's new girlfriend. Jiang Ling'er cruelly told Xiaonuan she was holding Jiang Fang back and that if she truly loved him, she should let him go. Devastated, Xiaonuan realized Jiang Fang had always considered her and her troupe a burden.
After the kiss, Xiaonuan's friend, Jiayi, found her drunk at the restaurant and took her home. Meanwhile, Gu Yunzhou informed Feimo that the master copy of their film, "Hannan Memory," had been leaked online, a disaster that could ruin its box office and strain their relationship with Yaohua. Feimo calmly issued a set of instructions to mitigate the damage: remove all online links, move up the release date, and arrange a media interview to gain public sympathy.
He then returned to the restaurant to find Xiaonuan, but she was already gone. At the same time, Xiaonuan's family's opera troupe faced a crisis: the landlord demanded one million yuan or he would sell the theater. Desperate, Xiaonuan took on more grueling extra roles, enduring harsh treatment from directors. Determined to find the woman who kissed him, Feimo launched a massive public search campaign with ads featuring his face and the message "5203, I'm waiting for you."
When Ms. Cheng learned her son was searching for a girl who looked like Han Hui, she recalled the girl who had fallen outside her office. She instructed her subordinate, Zhou Xiaojing, to hire Wen Xiaonuan to pose as Feimo's girlfriend at an upcoming party hosted by Yaohua for Han Hui's return. Xiaonuan initially refused the offer, unwilling to use her feelings as a transaction, but Zhou Xiaojing left her card.
Feimo and Gu Yunzhou discussed the film leak, suspecting a high-level traitor within the company. Feimo decided to feign illness to draw the real culprit out. Gu Yunzhou joked that Feimo's real motive was to find the "5203 girl," expressing surprise that anyone besides Han Hui could capture his interest. Gu Yunzhou referred to Han Hui as the "white moonlight" who had saved Feimo's life with a kiss. Feimo corrected him, revealing that Han Hui was not his savior.
He recalled that the girl who saved him had a butterfly-shaped birthmark on her back, and more importantly, the recent kiss from Xiaonuan felt far more familiar, convincing him he had finally found the right person. Just then, Xiaonuan received a frantic call from her brother, Xiaokai. The landlord was about to demolish their theater. She begged the landlord for fifteen more days to raise the one million yuan, and he reluctantly agreed.
Left with no other choice, Xiaonuan called Zhou Xiaojing and accepted the deal. Zhou Xiaojing provided her with a dossier on Feimo to memorize, emphasizing his sensitive stomach. Shortly after, Xiaojing called with an urgent update: Feimo was "sick" at home, and Xiaonuan was to go to his house immediately, posing as a nurse. Upon arriving, Zhou Xiaojing told her the contract was now active and left. Alone in the house, Xiaonuan began practicing her introduction, "Hello, CEO Ye. I'm Wen Xiaonuan, a senior nurse. . ." Suddenly, Feimo appeared right in front of her, causing her to shriek in shock and fall onto the sofa.
Episode 2 Recap
Ye Feimo confronts Wen Xiaonuan, recognizing her as the "5203" girl from the bar. He questions why she never responded to his public search notice and criticizes her habit of kissing strangers. A disoriented Wen Xiaonuan, having been drunk, has no memory of the encounter and insists she doesn't know him. Meanwhile, Zhou Xiaojing, after delivering supplements to Ye Feimo's residence, reports back to his mother, Miss Cheng.
Miss Cheng is delighted to hear that Ye Feimo seemed interested in Wen Xiaonuan, but Zhou Xiaojing expresses concern over Wen Xiaonuan’s striking resemblance to Han Hui. Miss Cheng, however, is resolute, asserting she will not allow her son to have any further involvement with Han Hui. Later, Ye Feimo tests Wen Xiaonuan, trying to confirm if she is the woman he's looking for by asking if she has a birthmark on her shoulder.
Wen Xiaonuan, awkwardly pretending to be a senior nurse from Kangtai Nursing Center, first denies having a birthmark, then contradicts herself. She fumbles through a clumsy diagnosis of high blood pressure, struggling with the medical equipment. Realizing her deception, Ye Feimo orders her out. Despite being ejected, Wen Xiaonuan is instructed by Zhou Xiaojing to find a way back inside, as Miss Cheng has authorized her presence.
She manages to bypass the gate by guessing a simple password but is still locked out of the house. Her attempt to sneak in by hiding in a large box is foiled by a security guard. Facing the threat of being taken to the police for trespassing, Wen Xiaonuan fabricates a story about being Ye Feimo's ex-wife, spinning a tale of hardship that convinces the sympathetic guard to lend her a ladder.
With the ladder, Wen Xiaonuan climbs into Ye Feimo's home, unaware that he is on a video call with his colleague Gu Yunzhou. They discuss business and his mother's attempts to hire a nurse for him. During the call, Ye Feimo spots Wen Xiaonuan sneaking around inside his house through a two-way mirror and, recognizing her, immediately has her removed again. Thrown out and distraught, Wen Xiaonuan is caught in a sudden downpour.
Her friend, Jiayi, calls to check on her, asking why she and Jiang Fang broke up. Heartbroken, Wen Xiaonuan lies about having poor reception and ends the call. Meanwhile, Jiang Fang is with Jiang Ling'er, viewing a unit in Beijiang's most exclusive high-end community as their potential wedding house. Jiang Ling'er mentions her own struggle to save for a down payment on a small apartment for her parents.
Jiang Fang dismissively remarks on how insignificant that amount of money is, making her feel momentarily embarrassed. She quickly smoothes things over, assuring him she chose him for his capabilities as the Production Director of Yaohua Media. As the rain intensifies, Jiang Fang leaves her to get the car. Alone in the rain, Wen Xiaonuan despairs over her family's struggling Huangmei Opera troupe and the one-million-yuan debt needed to save it.
Recalling the offer to pose as Ye Feimo's girlfriend for a large sum of money, she reconsiders giving up. At that moment, Jiang Fang appears. He tries to justify his affair, claiming he did it for their future and that he never wanted to break up, wishing she could have remained happily ignorant of his betrayal. Wen Xiaonuan furiously questions how he could claim to love her while using another woman's money.
Jiang Fang boasts about his newfound success and belittles her acting career, her family's theater, and her "useless" younger brother, Xiaokai. He insists that only he is truly sincere to her. When Jiang Ling'er calls, he answers immediately, promising to return to her. He then tries to force a bank card and an umbrella on Wen Xiaonuan, but she rejects them, devastated, telling him to leave.
From his house, Ye Feimo witnesses the entire heartbreaking exchange on his intercom video system. Though he tells himself it is none of his business, he eventually goes out into the rain to look for Wen Xiaonuan, but she is gone. The next morning, he finds her collapsed and feverish on his doorstep. Moved, he brings her inside and cares for her as she deliriously murmurs about her mother and her promise to take care of her brother, Xiaokai.
Episode 3 Recap
Having spent the night sick at Ye Feimo’s home, Wen Xiaonuan accidentally rolls over and pins him to the floor. Flustered by the proximity, Ye Feimo abruptly cancels a video conference with Gu Yunzhou. When Xiaonuan awakens, she is overjoyed to have successfully gained entry into his house. Ye Feimo questions her about her connection to Jiang Ling'er and her fiancé, but she dismisses it as a private matter.
Though he maintains a cold demeanor, he gives her medicine for the fever she caught from being in the rain, telling her to leave once she recovers. Meanwhile, Jiang Fang, now a prominent figure at Yaohua Corporation, is greeted deferentially by staff. Despite his success, his thoughts linger on Xiaonuan, and he secretly vows to achieve greatness for her. Back at Ye Feimo's, Xiaonuan schemes to secure her position.
Interpreting his words as permission to stay as long as she is "sick," she hides her luggage in an empty room to establish a base. After freshening up, she returns to the sofa to feign illness. However, Ye Feimo sees through her act, noting her refreshed appearance and insisting she leave. When Xiaonuan offers a thermometer to prove her fever, he takes it and sarcastically remarks on her high temperature, threatening her with an injection.
He declares the "game" over, criticizing his mother for sending someone so inept. Desperate, Xiaonuan pleads for another chance, explaining she urgently needs the money. She then argues that keeping her around would be a convenient way to fend off other women his mother might send. Ye Feimo relents slightly, challenging her to prepare an extensive list of gourmet dishes, including Stuffed Bean Sprouts and Braised Globefish, or leave.
Overwhelmed, Xiaonuan gets a call from her younger brother, Xiaokai, who gives her the idea to buy the dishes instead of cooking them. She purchases the entire meal from a high-end restaurant, Mu Dan Ting, but Ye Feimo instantly recognizes the restaurant's distinct flavor and dismisses her effort. Just then, her friend Jiayi calls in a panic, asking Xiaonuan to fill in for her as an extra on a film set after a minor car accident.
Arriving on set, Xiaonuan is horrified to find the lead actress is Jiang Ling'er. During filming, Jiang Ling'er uses the scene to publicly humiliate Xiaonuan, repeatedly and viciously slapping her under the guise of "perfecting the character," far exceeding the script's directions. Gu Yunzhou, who is visiting the set, witnesses the abuse and discreetly records it, sending the video to Ye Feimo. Before Jiang Ling'er can strike again, Xiaonuan cleverly drops her handkerchief, forcing the director to call a cut.
Infuriated by the video, Ye Feimo calls the producer and delivers an ultimatum: replace Jiang Ling'er, or his company, Anning Culture, will pull its funding. Later, Jiang Ling'er confronts Xiaonuan, who coolly stands her ground. She tells Jiang Ling'er that the bullying is obviously about Jiang Fang, but declares she has already given up on him and tells Jiang Ling'er to stop humiliating herself with such petty tricks. Shortly after, Jiayi arrives looking for Xiaonuan.
Her graceful entrance immediately captivates Gu Yunzhou, who is struck by love at first sight. Jiayi finds Xiaonuan and learns about the day's events. Xiaonuan expresses her anxiety over the Fusheng Theater, which will be sold if she can't raise enough funds soon. She explains that the job with Ye Feimo is her only hope. Rushing back, Xiaonuan realizes the supermarkets are closed and she has no ingredients.
She improvises a simple seafood porridge, the aroma of which draws Ye Feimo from his room. He asks how she knew to make it, and she explains it was a recipe from her father. After finishing a bowl and asking for more, he moves closer and lifts her hair, searching her shoulder for a birthmark. Disappointed by its absence, he quietly wonders, "Why aren't you her?"
Episode 4 Recap
After a night that ended with seafood porridge, Ye Feimo implicitly allowed Wen Xiaonuan to stay. The next morning, Wen Xiaonuan had breakfast ready, but before Ye Feimo could enjoy it, Gu Yunzhou arrived. He greeted Wen Xiaonuan, claiming they had met before, which puzzled her and deepened her suspicion about Gu Yunzhou’s relationship with Ye Feimo. She overheard vague remarks about "our relationship" and noticed their seemingly intimate interactions, leading her to believe Ye Feimo preferred men.
In reality, Gu Yunzhou was merely probing Ye Feimo about his progress with Wen Xiaonuan and offering humorous advice on how to deter girls, even joking that Ye Feimo was so oblivious he wouldn't notice a "fairy" right in front of him. Convinced that Ye Feimo was romantically interested in men, Wen Xiaonuan decided to take drastic action. She ordered a set of men's clothing and a wig online, then transformed herself into a handsome male servant.
She softly called out "Sir" to Ye Feimo, which unexpectedly stirred old memories within him, as a similar voice resonated in his past. Ye Feimo, intrigued, asked her to repeat the call in various tones, then suddenly grabbed her tie, slowly pulling her closer. Wen Xiaonuan, startled and embarrassed, quickly turned her head away. Ye Feimo, using Gu Yunzhou's advice to "frighten" her, had simply been teasing her.
Fortunately, a phone call from Gu Yunzhou, concerning Anning Culture's stock, rescued Wen Xiaonuan from the awkward situation. Anning Culture's stock price had intentionally dropped by 2. 5 points during the morning market, a clear sign of manipulation. However, Gu Yunzhou assured Ye Feimo it was manageable and could be recovered during the noon trading session, indicating that their opponents had fallen into their trap.
Gu Yunzhou also relayed another piece of news: Jiang Fang, the newly appointed Production Director of Yaohua, wanted to discuss joining Anning Culture's key project, "Blue Sky Galaxy". Historically, Anning and Yaohua had only collaborated on theater chains. Ye Feimo initially questioned how someone so young and inexperienced could hold such a position, but Gu Yunzhou revealed that Jiang Fang was Miss Jiang Ling'er's fiancé, making him "Yaohua's son-in-law."
Recognizing Jiang Fang and remembering his past entanglement with Wen Xiaonuan, Ye Feimo became interested and agreed to meet him, instructing Gu Yunzhou to tell Jiang Fang to call him in ten minutes, or he wouldn't answer. During their video conference, Ye Feimo gave Jiang Fang a mere two minutes to impress him and explain why Yaohua should be allowed to join "Blue Sky Galaxy".
Jiang Fang, clearly inexperienced and flustered, rambled about his ideas but failed to articulate Yaohua’s core competitive advantages in production, wasting precious time. Ye Feimo cut him off, stating that Yaohua's existing theater chain cooperation was irrelevant and demanding to know their production-side strengths. Ye Feimo then presented a humiliating offer: a 5% share in the project at a 200% premium, which Jiang Fang immediately perceived as an insult.
With Jiang Fang still visible on the screen, Ye Feimo deliberately turned off his own camera and called Wen Xiaonuan over, feigning deep concern for her well-being and telling her she looked tired. Wen Xiaonuan, oblivious to the scheme, was confused by his sudden display of affection, especially when he claimed to have sand in his eye and she offered to help. Once Ye Feimo felt he had sufficiently provoked Jiang Fang, he abruptly ended the communication.
As expected, Jiang Fang was enraged and jealous. He met with Lin Zheng, a mole planted by Yaohua's President Jiang Hao within Anning Culture. Jiang Fang, acknowledging Lin Zheng's trusted position, expressed his goal to surpass Anning, stating that Yaohua would always be second if Anning remained dominant.
He then tasked Lin Zheng with continuing to leak Anning's secrets and, more specifically, to investigate the girl who had recently moved into Ye Feimo's home, as Ye Feimo never allowed girls in his house. Lin Zheng, feigning an urgent document requiring Ye Feimo's signature, went to his residence. Gu Yunzhou had already alerted Ye Feimo that Lin Zheng, restless from a lack of updates, was on his way, advising Ye Feimo that it was "showtime."
Separately, Gu Yunzhou was actively investigating Wang Jiayi, an actress from Yaohua whom he had recently developed an interest in, instructing his contact to report any developments immediately. Upon Lin Zheng's arrival, Wen Xiaonuan, identifying herself as Ye Feimo's "personal nurse," initially seemed to hinder Lin Zheng's access.
However, Ye Feimo then put on an exaggerated display of affection for Wen Xiaonuan, pulling her close, pretending to be ticklish, and expressing concern for her "hard work," all while ensuring Lin Zheng was a witness. Despite Wen Xiaonuan's attempt to return to the office, Ye Feimo insisted she stay and cook for him. Lin Zheng reported back to Jiang Fang that Ye Feimo and Wen Xiaonuan were in an ambiguous relationship and had been seen "cuddling."
While acknowledging that a 24-hour companion might make approaching Ye Feimo more difficult, Jiang Fang resolved that Wen Xiaonuan could, in fact, become their new point of leverage. Meanwhile, unaware she was being used as a pawn, Wen Xiaonuan enthusiastically presented her specialty dish, proudly claiming it was better than Ye Feimo's usual "flashy" meals.
Ye Feimo, though secretly devouring the food and finishing every last bit, publicly dismissed it as "yuck" and "disgusting," falsely claiming he had thrown it away. Wen Xiaonuan, confused by his reaction, questioned why he would waste food. Later, while Ye Feimo was showering, his mother, Ms. Cheng (who appeared in his phone as "Big Princess"), called, intending to inquire about Wen Xiaonuan. Wen Xiaonuan answered, mistakenly believing Ms. Cheng was Ye Feimo's "first love" girlfriend.
With good intentions, Wen Xiaonuan advised Ms. Cheng that Ye Feimo was a "rude, sharp-tongued, narcissistic, and abnormal" man, advising her to "keep her eyes open" when looking for a partner. Ms. Cheng, amused by Wen Xiaonuan's candidness, cheerfully agreed and looked forward to meeting her. Unfortunately for Wen Xiaonuan, Ye Feimo had overheard her entire colorful description from behind her. Furious, he confronted her, sarcastically asking if she wanted to hear her insults again.
He accused her of invading his privacy and affecting his life, demanding that she leave immediately. Wen Xiaonuan, realizing her mistake, pleaded for forgiveness and promised never to answer his phone again, but Ye Feimo remained unyielding, insisting she leave. Wen Xiaonuan, however, defiantly refused to go.
Episode 5 Recap
Wen Xiaonuan was attempting to leave a room when Ye Feimo demanded she depart. She refused and, in a fit of frustration, threw half an apple core at him, which he did not catch. Ye Feimo suddenly collapsed, clutching his stomach and crying out in pain. Wen Xiaonuan, initially skeptical and accusing him of bluffing, became frantic. She tried to call Sister Xiaojing, but Ye Feimo insisted she call a doctor instead.
Wen Xiaonuan struggled to find a doctor's number, but Doctor Lu soon arrived to examine Ye Feimo. Doctor Lu explained that Ye Feimo was suffering from acute gastroenteritis due to severe indigestion, likely from irregular eating habits and overeating. Wen Xiaonuan was confused, stating Ye Feimo hadn't eaten much earlier. After the doctor left, Wen Xiaonuan found Ye Feimo surprisingly docile while sick.
She initially believed he had discarded the meals she prepared, but then realized he had consumed all of them, which caused his illness. This revelation touched her, and she diligently followed the doctor's instructions for his care, closely monitoring his water intake and body temperature. The next morning, Ye Feimo felt much better and, true to form, began bickering with Wen Xiaonuan.
He complained about her being noisy while he was using the bathroom, even though she was just trying to help him. Meanwhile, Ling'er expressed her fury to Jiang Fang about being replaced in her acting role. She revealed that Ye Feimo had her removed simply because she slapped Wen Xiaonuan during filming. Jiang Fang asked if she had slapped "Nuannuan," causing Ling'er to accuse him of still caring for Wen Xiaonuan.
Ling'er then lashed out, fabricating accusations that Wen Xiaonuan was stringing Jiang Fang along while simultaneously seducing Ye Feimo. She even claimed to have discovered Wen Xiaonuan living at Ye Feimo's house, painting Wen Xiaonuan as a hypocrite who seduced Anning's CEO despite her claims of integrity. Jiang Fang, though wanting to defend Wen Xiaonuan, tried to appease Ling'er by asserting that his past with Wen Xiaonuan was over and that he only cared about Ling'er now.
He then tried to change the subject by suggesting they go to a famous restaurant. Later, Ye Feimo, still recovering, insisted on not lying down for too long. He asked Wen Xiaonuan to find ancient-themed fantasy movies as reference for a new project about the Cowherd and Girl Weaver story. Wen Xiaonuan suggested that traditional operas, like Huangmei opera, could offer inspiration for traditional elements.
Ye Feimo, however, stated that as a commercial film aimed at young audiences, it needed to align with contemporary aesthetics, finding traditional elements outdated. Wen Xiaonuan disagreed and managed to find a clip of "Cowherd and Girl Weaver" online. Watching it, Wen Xiaonuan became deeply emotional and cried profusely, while Ye Feimo remained impassive, focusing only on filmmaking techniques and scene language. Wen Xiaonuan questioned his constant coldness, asking if he ever experienced genuine emotion.
Ye Feimo then produced a brooch, which he said he found in room 5203 of a restaurant, and returned it to Wen Xiaonuan. She realized that his previous public advertisement was meant to find her, though he claimed she wasn't the person he was originally looking for. Ye Feimo dismissed the matter, stating the item was returned and the issue was resolved, then abruptly asked her to cook for him, noting the fridge was empty.
Wen Xiaonuan pondered over the brooch, which she had purchased as an employment gift but never given. Suddenly, Jiang Fang appeared, confronting Wen Xiaonuan. He questioned her living with Ye Feimo, accusing her of "selling herself" and abandoning their relationship for a directorial position at Yaohua. Jiang Fang desperately tried to prevent her from leaving, grabbing her and expressing how heartbroken he was. Wen Xiaonuan, feeling deeply hurt by his words, struggled free.
She then handed him the brooch, explaining it was the employment gift she had bought for him, symbolizing her past love. She declared that by accepting it, all ties between them would be severed. Unbeknownst to them, their entire conversation was secretly filmed by someone observing them. Later, Wen Xiaonuan was at a supermarket, where she briefly bought some shampoo that was advertised to increase "luck in relationships," noting that Ye Feimo seemed to use it.
While shopping for groceries, she carefully selected a thermos, considering Ye Feimo's delicate stomach. Miss Cheng approached her, her voice familiar, and encouraged Wen Xiaonuan to buy the thermos for her "friend," suggesting she force him to use it to drink more hot water. Wen Xiaonuan, denying he was her boyfriend, admitted he had a weak stomach and she cared for him. Miss Cheng's warm demeanor made Wen Xiaonuan feel comfortable, and they chatted happily.
Miss Cheng then gave Wen Xiaonuan a ride home. Wen Xiaonuan was stunned when Ye Feimo came out of the house, and Miss Cheng revealed herself to be his mother. Ye Feimo's mother expressed her immense fondness for Wen Xiaonuan, thanking her for the positive change she had brought in Ye Feimo's usually introverted personality over just a few days. She even "authorized" Wen Xiaonuan to discipline Ye Feimo, urging her not to spoil him.
After Miss Cheng left, Ling'er was shown, revealing she was the one who had sent someone to film Wen Xiaonuan and Jiang Fang. He desperately searched for her at their first meeting place and then her favorite park, but she was nowhere to be found.
Overwhelmed by disappointment, Ye Feimo found himself back in the empty house, where memories of Wen Xiaonuan cooking and cleaning filled his mind. He saw her lively presence in every corner, but she was truly gone. Feeling lost, Wen Xiaonuan walked away alone.
