Chu Xiuming appeared before Lord Situ, who was visibly alarmed, questioning why Chu Xiuming, a wanted man, would come to his residence and what he was to do, fearing implication if he harbored him or betrayal if he captured him. Chu Xiuming sought information on a type of gold that could shift form when kept in a Glass Marble, and a major incident that occurred sixteen years prior.

Lord Situ feigned ignorance about both matters, repeatedly claiming he knew nothing and begging Chu Xiuming not to involve him further, fearing for his life. As Chu Xiuming prepared to leave, Lord Situ casually mentioned that the Head of Eunuch who oversaw procurement back then had retired and purchased a house in the capital to live out his old age, implying that the Eunuch might have information about such rare items. Chu Xiuming understood the hint and expressed his gratitude.

Chu Xiuming later discovered the Head of Eunuch had been captured, with house servants lying unconscious. He observed a group transporting an old man in a box to another courtyard. He identified the old man as Eunuch Shi and overheard the captors, led by Commander Yun, discussing their next steps, deciding to move Eunuch Shi again that night.

Chu Xiuming followed Commander Yun and his men until they reached the imperial palace, then stopped, hoping the emperor was not involved in this scheme. Later that night, Chu Xiuming covertly entered the small courtyard to rescue Eunuch Shi, only for an explosion to erupt, and imperial guards immediately surrounded the area. Chu Xiuming realized with surprise that it was as if they had been waiting for him.

Meanwhile, Meaty desperately pleaded with Ruonan to arrange a meeting with Shen Jin, emphasizing the critical nature of her secret, which she could not openly discuss. Upon seeing Shen Jin, Meaty stumbled, immediately expressing concern that she might have harmed the baby in her belly. Shen Jin and Ruonan were stunned, asking if she was pregnant and when this happened. Meaty confirmed her pregnancy, admitting Xiao Su was unaware.

Though furious, Shen Jin asked Chu Xiuyuan to find Xiao Su and expedite a wedding. Shen Jin meticulously helped Meaty prepare for the wedding, applying her makeup. She commented on Meaty's beautiful appearance, then felt a pang of sadness, wondering where Chu Xiuming was and how they could share life's journey if his whereabouts were unknown. Chu Xiuyuan brought a bewildered Xiao Su, along with Meaty's wedding gown.

Xiao Su felt the sudden marriage was disrespectful to Meaty as he hadn't even proposed. However, Chu Xiuyuan sternly informed him that he had offended the one person he must not offend and advised him to obey, or Shen Jin, who was still furious over his past actions, would ensure he understood his place. As Shen Jin, feeling like a mother giving away her daughter, gave Meaty heartfelt advice and blessings, Meaty quietly confessed that she might not be pregnant.

Shen Jin and Ruonan exchanged glances, realizing Meaty had tricked them into arranging the marriage. Despite this, the wedding commenced. Children held red candles as Xiao Su walked towards Meaty. Shen Jin wished them a lifetime of companionship and mutual protection, but her thoughts drifted to Chu Xiuming, her expression tinged with sadness. As sky lanterns soared and others celebrated, Shen Jin quietly retreated to her room.

The next morning, Chu Xiuming returned to the village, only to learn from his subordinate that Shen Jin had left a letter and gone to the palace to plead guilty. He was frustrated that she hadn't been stopped. Xiao Su reported that Shen Jin had not been seen entering the city gates, leading them to suspect she might have been kidnapped by the true mastermind.

Xiao Su then cautiously suggested that the emperor's recent deal with Chu Xiuming might have been a strategic trap, designed to eliminate traitors and weaken Chu Xiuming's military power simultaneously. Chu Xiuming declared his intention to enter the palace, believing Shen Jin must be in the emperor's hands. The Eighth Prince insisted on accompanying him, reasoning that his appearance would be beneficial regardless of the emperor's involvement in the plot.

Chu Xiuming forbade Chu Xiuyuan from joining them, despite Chu Xiuyuan's tearful plea, fearing his father would suffer the same fate as his mother and never return. The Eighth Prince reassured Chu Xiuyuan, telling him to live a happy life with Ruonan should anything happen to them. Unbeknownst to them, a spy watched from outside the courtyard walls. After ensuring Chu Xiuyuan's safety, the Eighth Prince and Chu Xiuming, disguised as gardeners delivering flowers, entered the imperial palace.

Meanwhile, Lord Situ presented a transparent sphere containing gold, the Glass Marble, to the emperor, claiming it was a rare treasure he had painstakingly found and that Chu Xiuming had once mentioned it. The emperor found the item strangely familiar. As Lord Situ took his leave, Chu Xiuming and the Eighth Prince were granted an audience. The emperor was visibly surprised to see his eighth brother after so many years, momentarily forgetting the Glass Marble in his hand.

However, the Eighth Prince instantly recognized it. Seizing the opportunity, Chu Xiuming snatched the Glass Marble and threw it, causing an explosion within the hall. Outside, Lord Situ was delighted, believing Chu Xiuming had assassinated the emperor, and immediately ordered his guards to investigate. Chu Xiuming emerged from the explosion, confronting Lord Situ, declaring the emperor dead to bait him and expose his facade. He then challenged Situ, stating that all the surrounding soldiers were seemingly in Situ's pay.

Chu Xiuming also suspected Shen Jin was in Situ's custody. Lord Situ, momentarily flustered, admitted he was forced into his actions, implicitly blaming Chu Xiuming's past pressure. He then ordered his soldiers to kill Chu Xiuming, but Chu Xiuming skillfully fended them off. At that moment, Xiao Su arrived with his own forces, surrounding Situ's rebellious troops. In a desperate attempt to deflect blame, Lord Situ accused Chu Xiuming and Xiao Su of treason.

To his utter shock, the emperor and the Eighth Prince then emerged from behind, revealing the trap. Lord Situ was aghast, demanding to know how they had arrived so quickly when he had deployed all palace guards. The emperor explained they had known about the surveillance and had set a deliberate trap to ensnare him.

Chu Xiuming then questioned Lord Situ, who confessed to meticulously manipulating Chu Xiuming into suspecting the emperor by creating a series of convenient coincidences, adding that Chu Xiuming was 'too slow' to uncover the truth without such obvious guidance.

The Eighth Prince then directly confronted Lord Situ, revealing that Situ was the one who had given him the Glass Marble years ago, which had caused the devastation to his family, thus exposing Situ as the true orchestrator of his family's tragedy. Chu Xiuming moved to kill Lord Situ, but Situ quickly countered by revealing that Shen Jin was in his custody and would die if he did. Situ refused to disclose her location.

Meanwhile, Shen Jin awoke in a cramped, dark space, surrounded by copper walls, with sand slowly pouring from a dragon's mouth in the ceiling, threatening to bury her. She desperately called out for help, pleading to be released and defiantly declared that her husband, Chu Xiuming, the Demon General, would surely come to save her and would never forgive her captors.
