Kong Hou noticed several romance storybooks on the table and asked Huan Zong if he had fallen for anyone. Huan Zong initially denied it, but Kong Hou persisted, questioning why he, who seemed uninterested in such books, was reading them. She pressed him, asking about the person he liked, how they met, and if he had confessed his feelings.

Huan Zong finally admitted that he was reading the books to understand what it meant to like someone but maintained that there was no specific person. Kong Hou, understanding his underlying feelings, declared herself an expert and began listing scenarios of falling in love. As she described moments like a wildly beating heart, an urge to protect someone, or the pain of separation, Huan Zong's reactions clearly indicated that all these feelings applied to Kong Hou herself.

Realizing this, Kong Hou playfully pretended that she was asking for Lin Hu, who also seemed clueless about love, and asked Huan Zong to keep their conversation a secret from him. Huan Zong agreed to keep quiet. Later, Huan Zong and Lin Hu arrived at Jiao Tong Pavilion to apply as performers but were stopped at the entrance and told a recommendation letter was required.

Lin Hu tried to argue that their looks should be enough, but the attendant dismissed them. Huan Zong, however, calmly asked to see an example of the letter. After carefully observing it, he led Lin Hu away. Kong Hou, upon hearing about the recommendation letter, initially suggested forging one, but Huan Zong revealed he had already prepared a genuine letter.

Kong Hou then enthusiastically took it upon herself to style Huan Zong, transforming him into the image of a captivating performer to make a grand entrance. With everything ready, Kong Hou headed to the Jiao Tong Pavilion, where she encountered Madam Chen, a warm-hearted older woman. Kong Hou soon learned that at Jiao Tong Pavilion, every service, even walking and sitting, required payment in spirit stones.

During the auditions, Lin Hu, despite being told his appearance wasn't ideal, impressed the judges with his quick wit and eloquent speech, securing a position in the kitchen. When Huan Zong stepped onto the stage, the examiners were immediately captivated by his demeanor and appearance, hiring him directly without even asking for a performance. Later, as Huan Zong performed a flawless piece on his instrument, stunning the audience with his talent, Kong Hou subtly advised him to play poorly instead.

Their true objective was not to impress but to lure out Jiao Tong himself. Following Kong Hou's instruction, Huan Zong's next performance was intentionally terrible, drawing complaints from the audience. Amidst the chaos, a child accidentally knocked over a stage prop that was about to hit Kong Hou. Without hesitation, Huan Zong used his spiritual powers to save her, an act that unfortunately led to his immediate dismissal from the pavilion for violating the rules.

Outside, Kong Hou overheard women discussing Huan Zong, praising his good looks and charm despite his poor performance. Seizing the opportunity, Kong Hou approached them, offering to lead them to Huan Zong if they would help her meet Jiao Tong. The women informed her that to meet Jiao Tong, one needed to be a patron for at least three years and spend 100,000 spirit stones, an amount Kong Hou couldn't afford.

Feeling dejected, Kong Hou was unaware she was being followed. She then saw Madam Chen again, who appeared distressed. Madam Chen confessed her "lovesickness" for Huan Zong, explaining she greatly admired him and sought Kong Hou's help to meet him. Realizing that Madam Chen was a high-spending regular at the pavilion, Kong Hou saw a new path to Jiao Tong. She asked Huan Zong to meet with Madam Chen, arguing that Madam Chen seemed harmless and genuinely admired him.

Huan Zong was reluctant, but when Kong Hou threatened to seek help from "other pretty boys," he reluctantly agreed. Huan Zong and Kong Hou went to meet Madam Chen. Huan Zong placed an invisibility talisman on Kong Hou, allowing only him to see her. Madam Chen presented Huan Zong with an ancient-style outfit, asking him to wear it. As Huan Zong changed, Kong Hou, though invisible, playfully offered commentary, and they bickered back and forth.

Madam Chen, who had already noticed Kong Hou's presence, watched them with a wistful smile, expressing her envy of their intimacy. She then explained her true reason for wanting to meet Huan Zong: he bore a striking resemblance to her former lover, a prince from the Lingyou Realm with whom she could never watch the sunset due to his strict schedule. Her deepest wish was to experience that moment with someone who looked like him.

Madam Chen then gave Huan Zong a special token that would grant access to Jiao Tong. Kong Hou, eager to finally meet Jiao Tong, quickly prepared to leave. Huan Zong, visibly jealous, tried to delay her, claiming he had important instructions to give. Kong Hou, however, was too excited to pay much attention, wanting only to freshen up before her meeting.

Huan Zong, worried, gave her serious warnings: she must never drink from a cup or eat food that left her sight to avoid poisoning, and she must maintain a distance from Jiao Tong if they were ever alone, dismissing any notion of "hand-in-hand" qin lessons. Kong Hou laughed off his concerns, assuring him that Jiao Tong Pavilion was a reputable place and she was clever enough to handle any situation.

While having tea with Huan Zong, Kong Hou suddenly noticed his distinct handwriting. The way he wrote the character "Zong" was peculiar, reminiscent of a unique stroke in "Master Writer's" signature. Prompted by suspicion, she asked him to write more, and upon seeing his calligraphy, she became convinced he was indeed "Master Writer."

Though Huan Zong tried to deflect her questions and hurried her off to Jiao Tong, he was left alone, tormented by vivid images of Kong Hou and Jiao Tong playing the zither intimately. Just then, he received an urgent message from Lin Hu. Lin Hu's messenger talisman revealed that there was something suspicious within the Jiao Tong Pavilion.

Lin Hu, who had been assigned to the kitchen, managed to take over the role of a front hall servant when the original one had a stomachache, allowing him to gather information. The message ended abruptly with "Oh no!" indicating trouble.
