Master Zhong Xi, understanding that Kong Hou's dramatic breakup was a ruse to save him, nonetheless worried how she would suppress her dark cultivator bloodline without the protective bracelet. He resolved to find a way to return it to her. Meanwhile, Fairy Ling Bo confessed to Lin Hu her doubts about the simplistic view of good and evil, questioning if she had been wrong all these years.

Lin Hu reassured her that she was maturing and no longer believed Kong Hou was a dark cultivator. He praised her continuous improvement. When asked, Lin Hu admitted he once believed Kong Hou was a dark cultivator but was now unsure. Ling Bo then declared her intention to investigate matters at the Yunhua Sect. Jiu Su gathered his followers, announcing the completion of his Ascension Array.

Kong Hou expressed surprise, but Jiu Su, without allowing her time to think, proposed an Ascension Ceremony and invited elders from the Ten Great Sects to witness their power, demanding Kong Hou issue the invitations. Kong Hou reluctantly agreed but insisted on personally overseeing the preparations, claiming it was too important to entrust to anyone else. Jiu Su, secretly suspecting Kong Hou, agreed.

When a subordinate later questioned his trust in Kong Hou, fearing she might collude with Zhong Xi to sabotage the ceremony, Jiu Su merely stated he was counting on Zhong Xi to appear. Kong Hou took advantage of her new responsibility to secretly meet Master Zhong Xi on the street. He immediately returned her bracelet, explaining its vital role in suppressing her dark cultivator bloodline.

He then revealed the existence of the Soul Anchoring Lamp, a permanent solution to calm her mind and stabilize her essence. Kong Hou initially harbored suspicions, fearing he might be sacrificing himself for her, but seeing him well, her worries eased. They quickly made plans, and Zhong Xi urged her to prioritize her safety before they parted ways. Back in the palace, Kong Hou continued her cultivation with Jiu Su, but her mind was elsewhere, hindering their progress.

Jiu Su noticed her distraction and probed for the reason, but Kong Hou remained tight-lipped, claiming tiredness and retiring to rest. Unbeknownst to them, Wu Bei had sent his people to spy on Kong Hou, and they reported her secret meeting with Zhong Xi to Jiu Su. Wu Bei suggested eliminating Zhong Xi to prevent further distraction, but Jiu Su dismissed the idea, stating that killing Zhong Xi without completely breaking Kong Hou's attachment would only lead to resentment.

He emphasized the critical need for Kong Hou's Phoenix Essence for the upcoming Ascension Ceremony and assured Wu Bei he had his own plans. Later, Jiu Su deliberately left the Qibao Hollow Bell where Xiao Pei would find it, then retreated to his secret chamber. Xiao Pei, remembering how the bell could extract memories and turn people into mindless automatons, immediately reported her discovery to Kong Hou.

Kong Hou found the bell and was pulled into a fabricated memory barrier, where she witnessed Master Zhong Xi killing her mother with his unique Dragon's Roar Sword. Distraught, she confronted Zhong Xi, who explained that the Qibao Hollow Bell could also create illusions, and this was clearly Jiu Su's attempt to sow discord between them. Just as they were speaking, Jiu Su appeared, having tracked Kong Hou.

He mocked their affection and accused Kong Hou of betraying her clan by siding with Zhong Xi. Before Zhong Xi could fully defend Kong Hou, Jiu Su injected him with a potent, incurable Gu parasite, unique to the Yueluo Clan. Kong Hou pleaded with Jiu Su to release Zhong Xi, promising her full cooperation, but Jiu Su retorted that he trusted the Gu parasite more than her sincerity. He threatened Zhong Xi's life if Kong Hou disobeyed.

Zhong Xi, despite his pain, urged Kong Hou not to give in, but Jiu Su dragged them both back to his palace. Meanwhile, Master Wang Tong and Kong Hou's Senior Ling Hui and Senior Tan worried about her safety. Dark cultivators, under Jiu Su's command, had surrounded and harassed the Yunhua Sect for days. With the Sect Leader undergoing tribulation, the elders appointed Master Wang Tong as interim leader to navigate the crisis.

Jiu Su, now confident in Kong Hou's forced compliance, ordered Wu Bei to annihilate the Yunhua Sect if they refused to surrender disciples for the Ascension Array, and replenish from other sects if necessary. Lin Hu and Fairy Ling Bo observed the escalating conflict at Yunhua Sect. Ling Bo wanted to intervene, but Lin Hu cautioned patience, fearing they might disrupt a larger plan or get themselves hurt.

Kong Hou arrived at Yunhua Sect, feigning ruthlessness, and stopped Wu Bei from killing Senior Ling Hui. She demanded ten disciples for the Ascension Array, claiming her long-standing relationship with Master Wang Tong as her reason for offering a choice. The Yunhua Sect members were aghast, calling her a traitor, but Kong Hou coldly asserted her true nature and explained that Jiu Su needed living cultivators. She reprimanded Wu Bei for his incompetence.

Senior Ling Hui and Senior Tan, understanding Kong Hou's unspoken message, volunteered to go with her, and Kong Hou ordered them to be taken. Imprisoned, Zhong Xi desperately searched for a cure for the Gu parasite. Xiao Pei brought him food and, overhearing his concerns for Kong Hou's health, learned that Kong Hou's energy flow was chaotic and her blood flow was reversing, putting her in grave danger.

Realizing Kong Hou's suffering and Zhong Xi's genuine love for her, Xiao Pei volunteered to find ancient manuals from Jiu Su's collection to search for remedies. Zhong Xi warned her of the danger, but Xiao Pei insisted, believing that helping Zhong Xi was helping Kong Hou. Back at the palace, Kong Hou reported to Jiu Su that she had successfully brought the Yunhua Sect members, subtly criticizing his subordinates' lack of skill.

Jiu Su, seemingly appeased by her actions and Zhong Xi's captivity, reiterated his belief in her loyalty to Wu Bei. Lin Hu, having successfully infiltrated the palace, found Zhong Xi. Misunderstanding Kong Hou's actions at Yunhua Sect, he informed Zhong Xi that she had captured Senior Tan and Ling Hui and seemed to have truly changed. Zhong Xi, however, understood Kong Hou was being coerced by Jiu Su.

Kong Hou later visited Zhong Xi to explain her upcoming task of capturing people from his own sect, feeling deep remorse. Zhong Xi understood her predicament but expressed grave concern that even their combined strength might not suffice against Jiu Su once the Ascension Array was complete. He revealed that through the ancient texts Xiao Pei acquired, he discovered a technique called "Harmony Sync" possessed the power of resurrection and might be the only way to dismantle the Ascension Array.

He urged Kong Hou to be careful around Jiu Su. Later, during cultivation, Jiu Su experienced unexpected difficulties. He spotted Xiao Pei rushing by and, accusing her of negligence in monitoring Kong Hou and being useless, declared his need for spiritual energy. He "granted" her a chance to atone, implying her sacrifice for his power. Kong Hou, arriving shortly after, confronted Jiu Su, having overheard his discussion about the Xuan Yun Gui with a subordinate (Wu Bei).

Accusing him of distrust, she challenged him to test her loyalty by sending her to personally retrieve people from the Liuguang Sect, which she knew he was struggling to subjugate. This act further concealed her true intentions and solidified her resolve against Jiu Su, especially after witnessing the fate of Xiao Pei.
