Flipped Episode 2 Recap
> Flipped Recap
Long ago, during the process of biological evolution, a group of unique individuals emerged among humanity, possessing a mysterious and unknown power. They were known as espers. In this world, everything comes with a price, and espers were no exception. God, being benevolent, created healers to cure the espers' ailments and then created guardians to protect the healers. However, one guardian failed to protect their assigned healer, who suffered brutal retaliation.
Believing himself unworthy to fulfill his duty, he passed on the Ring of Aegis to his descendant, tasking him with protecting the next healer. Meanwhile, Kun Lan, at Kun's lab, recalled words from his grandfather and quietly contemplated while holding a crystal pendant around his neck. Qi Xun and Shuangshuang shared an unexpected kiss, which was witnessed by numerous employees leaving work.
They watched in astonishment as their stern boss openly kissed a woman, only for her to push him away. Complicating matters, Shuangshuang’s hair became tangled with Qi Xun’s clothes. In a moment of quick thinking, Shuangshuang grabbed a pair of scissors and cut her hair free. She then hastily left, while Qi Xun, embarrassed, ordered his employees to disperse. Despite his efforts, the office romance rumor was far too juicy for the staff to ignore.
Later, at home, Shi Lang was helping Tian Tian with chores when Qi Xun arrived. He called Shi Lang aside to recount his two unusual encounters with Shuangshuang. Shi Lang suggested they must be incredibly fated. Qi Xun explained that every time he teleports, he suffers from a painful headache, but the moment he kissed Shuangshuang, he felt a profound sense of comfort and relaxation.
Shi Lang, with a mischievous grin, proposed that Qi Xun should try kissing Shuangshuang again to see if he got the same sensation, prompting Qi Xun to angrily call him insane. Shi Lang dismissed Qi Xun's theories about healers, insisting that his physical reactions were simply signs of falling in love, like fireworks igniting in one's heart during a kiss.
Meanwhile, Bai Fang questioned Shuangshuang about the incident with Qi Xun, teasing her about a "secret office romance" and her "first kiss." Shuangshuang, greatly embarrassed, explained it was merely an accident and denied any relationship. She dramatically declared she might have to quit or be fired, even joking about being "murdered to silence" if she stayed. She asked Bai Fang to warn her if Qi Xun was nearby and wanted a list of the witnesses.
Just then, Bai Fang received a call from Qi Xun and had to leave. Qi Xun had called Bai Fang to his office, seeking detailed information about Feng Shuangshuang. Mistakenly believing Qi Xun intended to end their collaboration due to the incident, Bai Fang hastily defended Shuangshuang, highlighting her artistic talent and the unfortunate circumstance of her father changing her university application, preventing her from attending.
Qi Xun clarified that he desired a long-term partnership, implying a recruitment offer for MIST, and was merely interested in understanding Shuangshuang better for future observation, dismissing her personal history as irrelevant to her talent. The news of this long-term partnership offer made Shuangshuang very happy. Excited, Shuangshuang headed home. Unbeknownst to Qi Xun, who was following her, Shuangshuang had already noticed his presence. She and Brother Xin concocted a plan to trick him.
As Shuangshuang arrived at her residence, Brother Xin informed her that someone had "somehow gotten in and lives there now," referring to Qi Xun. Inside, Qi Xun was casually drinking water. Shuangshuang confronted him directly, asking if he had fallen for her after their kiss and that was why he was tailing her. Qi Xun scoffed at her "imagination" and instead demanded the return of his jacket button that she had cut off.
Just then, Kun Lan arrived, reminding Shuangshuang that she needed to pick up a parcel. They went to find the postman, who suspiciously claimed the parcel had already been "sent upstairs." Recognizing a potential threat, Kun Lan urged Shuangshuang to hurry upstairs with him. There, Shuangshuang found her aging father, Feng Yun, drunk and unconscious on the bed, calling her name, a sight that filled her with sorrow. Kun Lan helped Shuangshuang hide.
She then confided in Kun Lan about her childhood. She recounted how her father had always loved her, and she him, but after her mother's untimely death, he became overly protective, constantly fearing for her safety. She remembered him holding her in his arms, teaching her to draw the trees and her mother's flowers, and how she would sign his paintings with a single flower while he guided her hand.
However, he gradually transformed, becoming short-tempered and paranoid, often locking her in the house, or even in a box if she resisted. One day, after losing count of how many times she'd been confined, she saw what she thought was a mouse, then corrected herself, saying it was just a shadow, realizing she had been talking to herself. Recognizing the deteriorating situation, she fled, and had been avoiding her father ever since.
After saying goodbye to Kun Lan, Shuangshuang decided to spend the night in her art studio. Later that night, Qi Xun's sister, Tian Tian, had another dream, seeing "him and I. . ." Although the dream's details were vague, it left her too excited to sleep. She found Qi Xun, who was deep in thought about how to approach Shuangshuang. He sought Tian Tian’s advice on how to get to know a girl.
Tian Tian suggested checking her QQ page to learn her interests and simply appearing around her often. She even tested him with a hypothetical "I'm sick" scenario, to which Qi Xun humorously replied, "Hand in a report for a leave more than three days." Despite his detached response, he seemed to take her advice, telling her to get some rest. The next morning, Shuangshuang arrived at the MIST headquarters for her first day.
Bai Fang gave her a tour of the spacious design studio. She explained that Qi Xun deliberately designed it to be open, like a radio station, to naturally encourage quiet work and focus, rather than relying on strict rules. Shuangshuang playfully remarked that Qi Xun was "mingy."
Bai Fang then introduced her to the team members: Meng Tao, the youngest; "Fatty," who was always asleep; Cai Cheng, the artist boy; Si Si, a cute girl; Milianlu, the energetic lady; Joe, the warm-hearted one; and Ai, the new intern. She confirmed that due to the demanding hours, many employees often slept at the office. Bai Fang then asked Shuangshuang if she was willing to be a "long-term partner."
Suddenly, Qi Xun and Director Du entered, causing everyone to scramble awake and appear busy. Director Du immediately confronted Qi Xun about a previously approved design that had unexpectedly driven up costs, expressing frustration that he was prioritizing design over budget, effectively questioning the purpose of the operations department. Qi Xun coolly dismissed her concerns, mentioning his own reasons for the change. Qi Xun, in turn, offered a solution for the cost issue.
Just then, Shuangshuang's phone loudly rang, disrupting the quiet atmosphere. Director Du glared, annoyed by the "low-level mistake." Qi Xun, unfazed, called Shuangshuang to his office, telling her to represent him at a dinner that evening. In his office, Shuangshuang reiterated her lack of architectural design knowledge. Qi Xun presented her with one of her design sketches, critiquing her choice of a 60-degree angle, stating that the proposed house would not last long, even with the materials’ properties.
He acknowledged her talent for drawing and offered her a position to create decorative paintings for the interior design department and croquis for their completed projects. He expressed that it would be a pity for her talent to be wasted on "insignificant projects." As Shuangshuang was considering the offer, her father, Feng Yun, burst into the office, loudly demanding to see Feng Shuangshuang. Security guards tried to stop him, but he persisted.
Shuangshuang, panicked, begged Qi Xun to help her hide, fearing she wouldn't be able to work there if her father found her. Qi Xun agreed. He stepped forward to confront Feng Yun, deliberately calling him a "has-been" painter. Feng Yun confirmed he was Shuangshuang's father. Qi Xun then fabricated a story, claiming that Shuangshuang was collaborating on a project but had absconded with the funds halfway through. He then offered to pay off the "project funds" himself.
Before leaving, a fuming Feng Yun warned Qi Xun to stay away from his daughter. After Feng Yun left, Qi Xun, musing aloud, wondered, "Who is the has-been?" He then informed Shuangshuang that her first assignment for drawing croquis would be "here," indicating the office itself. He also reminded her once more to return his button. Shuangshuang asked if the button was very expensive, to which Qi Xun replied, "It costs quite a lot."
