Zichuan Canxing informed Si Yilin that news had arrived from the northwest—Liu Fengshuang had suddenly launched a surprise attack on the northwestern border, capturing three cities. Canxing ordered Si Yilin to lead troops to reinforce the area and dispatched Li Qing to accompany him. Li Qing had previously been suppressed by Si Yilin when they were in the military camp and was now eager to go along.

In Lijia City, Liu Fengshuang and Liu Fengsen also received news that Si Yilin and Li Qing were on their way. Precisely because it was Si Yilin, Liu Fengshuang planned to carefully scout the terrain. Liu Fengshuang originally wanted to fight, but realized her brother Liu Fengsen had already been captured. A chaotic battle ensued, and Li Qing and Si Yilin emerged victorious. The news quickly reached Zichuan. Storytellers vividly recounted the battlefield tales, praising the two as a deeply bonded couple. Ma Wei saw Zichuan Ning also listening to the stories and took the opportunity to speak with her.
