Encounter with You Episode 38 (Ending) Recap
> Encounter with You Recap
Hua Ming informed Qin Gang of his plan to leave indefinitely and offered his house as a comfortable place for Qin Gang, Wan Xinxin, and their baby to stay, as it would otherwise be empty. Qin Gang worried that Wan Xinxin would not agree to move in. Hua Ming then suggested he tell Wan Xinxin that he had bought the house, believing she would accept it under that pretense.
Qin Gang protested, saying he was broke, but Hua Ming insisted that sometimes telling small lies is acceptable for the family's well-being. Later, Qin Gang attempted to persuade Wan Xinxin to move from the gallery. He pointed out the gallery's unsuitable living conditions, mentioning that clothes were getting moldy due to dampness, and urged her to think about their baby's health.
Wan Xinxin, who was feeling unwell and coughing, said she would start painting to earn money for a new apartment. When Qin Gang suggested they move into Hua Ming's vacant house, she firmly refused. Qin Gang then noticed she had a high fever and insisted on taking her to the hospital immediately, despite her attempts to dismiss it as a minor cold. Hua Ming learned of Wan Xinxin's illness and quickly went to the hospital to check on her.
He pressed Qin Gang about the moving plans, emphasizing the urgency due to the damp gallery. Qin Gang planned to move the next day but asked Hua Ming not to show up, fearing it would upset Wan Xinxin further. Hua Ming, however, urged Qin Gang to move everything first, asserting that Wan Xinxin would have to accept it once they were settled.
He also advised Qin Gang to keep Wan Xinxin and the baby separated due to her viral cold and asked him to call immediately if any issues arose. The following day, Hua Ming discreetly helped Qin Gang move into his house. He provided detailed instructions on managing the household, including a utility card for bills linked to his bank account, a spare house key, and a notebook listing Wan Xinxin's habits.
He gave specific advice for the kitchen, noting her preference for lighter-flavored soups, and cautioned against using air conditioning for the baby, highlighting the house's natural ventilation. He also prepared a basic medicine kit, reminding Qin Gang to check expiration dates. Before leaving, Hua Ming handed his own house key to Qin Gang, stating he no longer needed it, and gave him his personal phone number for emergencies.
That evening, Qin Gang brought Wan Xinxin and their baby to the house. Wan Xinxin was still resistant, but Qin Gang insisted she come inside. She looked around, each detail bringing back memories of her life with Hua Ming. Qin Gang, attempting to cook, clumsily boiled some eggs for her. Although Wan Xinxin appreciated his effort, her fever returned. Alarmed, Qin Gang secretly called Hua Ming for help. Hua Ming rushed over and met Qin Gang downstairs.
Qin Gang frantically told him Wan Xinxin had a 40-degree fever and asked if she needed an IV. Hua Ming advised against an IV unless there were complications and questioned what she had eaten, noting that eggs could worsen a fever. He then provided homemade porridge and stir-fried vegetables, stressing the importance of light but nutritious food. Hua Ming instructed Qin Gang to give her medicine and, if the fever persisted, to use physical cooling methods, which he demonstrated.
The next morning, Qin Gang looked out from the balcony and saw Hua Ming still downstairs, realizing he had stayed there all night, watching over Wan Xinxin. Later, when Wan Xinxin left for the supermarket, Qin Gang called Hua Ming, asking him to come teach him various household chores and cooking. Hua Ming patiently guided him through tasks such as preparing food, properly wiping and holding the baby, and the correct way to wash and store baby clothes separately.
When Wan Xinxin returned home, she found a delicious meal laid out and asked Qin Gang if he had cooked everything. He nervously claimed he was learning from TV shows and cookbooks. However, Wan Xinxin noticed a familiar taste in the food, and his subsequent "mistake" of forgetting to add salt to a dish further raised her suspicions. Qin Gang explained that his efforts were for her and the baby's well-being.
Hua Ming prepared for his departure, ensuring everything was set for Wan Xinxin and the baby. He provided Qin Gang with a registration form, framing their stay as a rental, and gently declined Qin Gang's offer to pay rent when he had money. Hua Ming shared that his house had truly felt like a home with the three of them there. Later, Qin Gang, deeply moved by Hua Ming's selfless love, revealed everything to Wan Xinxin.
He told her that Hua Ming had not only given them his house but had also guided him through her fever, staying downstairs until she recovered, and personally taught him how to cook and manage household chores. Qin Gang confessed his earlier desire to remarry her was selfish, acknowledging Hua Ming's pure and unconditional love for her happiness.
Wan Xinxin listened in silence, reflecting on her past and current emotional turmoil, having previously admitted she lacked the capacity to love again and needed more time. Even after Qin Gang's revelations, she stated that it was impossible between them now. However, Qin Gang urged her to consider Hua Ming, insisting they go find him. They rushed to the hotel, only to learn that Hua Ming had already checked out and left.
Wan Xinxin then suggested he might be at their special spot, the big banyan tree. Several months passed. Qin Gang received a call from the police, informing him that Liu Wei had been arrested and transferred to the prosecutor's office, bringing him immense relief. He took their baby to the beach, where the child, now walking and drawing, happily painted. Wan Xinxin watched them with a sweet smile.
Suddenly, Xu Ke arrived, telling Wan Xinxin he would handle things there and urged her to leave. With a look of excited happiness, Wan Xinxin rushed off. In her heart, she silently repeated a past vow: if she could relive everything, she would never let him go. Meanwhile, Hua Ming had returned and was sitting alone under the big banyan tree where they once made wishes, unaware that Wan Xinxin was speeding towards him, and towards their happiness.
