> Encounter with You Recap

After Qin Gang’s mother's attending physician, Dr. Jia, returned from out of town, he visited the Qin family. Qin Gang, in mourning, directly asked Dr. Jia for the reason behind his mother's sudden passing. Dr. Jia explained that there were two primary possibilities: complications arising from her surgery, or a severe emotional shock that could have triggered a stroke or heart attack. Qin Gang then turned to Liu Wei, questioning if his mother had contacted her recently.

Liu Wei denied it defensively, insisting she was home all day and expressing disbelief that Qin Gang would suspect her. Qin Gang stated he was simply eliminating possibilities, especially since his mother had been recovering well post-surgery and emotional distress was the main risk. Liu Wei vehemently denied upsetting Qin Gang's mother, claiming she was well aware of her fragile condition and would never dare.

She then dramatically shifted the blame to Hua Ming, suggesting that there might have been a problem with his surgery. Liu Wei labeled Hua Ming a "quack who has killed patients before," questioning his competence and ability to cure a disease American experts couldn't. She accused him of performing the surgery merely to scam Qin Gang's mother for money to support his website.

Qin Gang found Liu Wei's arguments compelling and promised to investigate further, after which Liu Wei departed abruptly. Qin Gang went to Hua Ming's home and found him packing a substantial amount of luggage for a research project in Shanghai. Qin Gang immediately suspected that Hua Ming was attempting to flee due to his mother's death.

Hua Ming, expressing his regret over the loss, clarified that the surgical plan was developed with his American mentor, Qin Gang’s family had reviewed and approved it, and the surgery itself was unequivocally successful without complications. He explained his departure as a need to distance himself from painful memories. Qin Gang misinterpreted this as Hua Ming blaming him for his mother's death, suggesting he had failed to care for her properly. Hua Ming denied such an implication, reiterating his sorrow.

Unconvinced, Qin Gang declared that he would thoroughly investigate the matter. At her home, Xu Chunli was plagued by guilt. She confronted Jiang Kaiyang, asking why he had forbidden her from revealing that she saw Liu Wei leaving Qin's mother's house on the day of her collapse, a moment Xu Chunli believed had caused Qin's mother's death. She confessed her conscience wouldn't let her rest.

Jiang Kaiyang acknowledged her distress but firmly reiterated that she absolutely could not tell anyone, warning that if she spoke, he and consequently, she and their child, would be ruined. Xu Chunli pressed him, suspecting he was hiding something more serious than Liu Wei merely helping him regain his job. Jiang Kaiyang admitted that if anything happened to Liu Wei, he would be in deep trouble too.

He confessed to having committed a grave error but refused to elaborate further, fearing he would drag her into his predicament, which could lead to him going to prison and leaving their family destitute. Despite their difficulties, Xu Chunli pleaded with him to confide in her, offering to face the consequences together, even suggesting they turn themselves in. Jiang Kaiyang dismissed this as impractical, highlighting their financial obligations and the welfare of their child.

He promised to surrender himself "in a few days" after completing some pressing tasks, then insisted he needed to leave. Xu Chunli desperately urged him to turn himself in immediately. Jiang Kaiyang then sought out Liu Wei, who was preoccupied on the phone, arranging a swift money transfer. Jiang Kaiyang, no longer deferential, demanded half of the money Liu Wei was in the process of acquiring from Qin Gang, deeming his previous share insufficient.

Liu Wei initially resisted, asserting her indispensability, but Jiang Kaiyang turned the tables, revealing his ace: Xu Chunli had witnessed Liu Wei leaving Qin's mother's house on the day she died. He threatened to expose Liu Wei for driving Qin's mother to her death, which would, in turn, unravel Liu Wei's entire financial scheme against Qin Gang.

Realizing the gravity of the threat, Liu Wei grudgingly agreed to split the money half-and-half, but immediately demanded that Jiang Kaiyang expedite the finalization of their scheme. Driven by a desire for revenge, Qin Gang contacted someone to hack Hua Ming's "Huaming Online" website, instructing them to brand it as a "scam site run by murderers" at any cost. Meanwhile, Wan Xinxin discovered Hua Ming's hacked website and expressed her anger.

Xu Chunli, seeing the defaced site, agreed that Hua Ming wouldn't commit such a crime for money and lamented that Qin Gang's relentless accusations would destroy Hua Ming's career. Xu Chunli then tentatively suggested that Qin's mother's death might be connected to Liu Wei. Sensing her hesitation, Wan Xinxin pressed her for details, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Hesitantly, Xu Chunli confessed that she had vaguely seen Liu Wei leaving Qin Gang's house in a panic on the day Qin's mother collapsed, though she added that she couldn't be entirely certain from a distance. Upon hearing Xu Chunli's account, Wan Xinxin immediately called Qin Gang, asking him to bring Liu Wei to her gallery. At the gallery, Qin Gang confronted Liu Wei, asking if she had visited his mother on the day she fainted.

Liu Wei denied it, then accused Wan Xinxin and Xu Chunli of fabricating stories to protect Hua Ming. Wan Xinxin prompted Xu Chunli to repeat her observation, and Xu Chunli reluctantly stated she had seen Liu Wei leaving Qin Gang's house that day. Liu Wei, momentarily losing her composure, contradicted her earlier denial by admitting she had gone out later that day. When Qin Gang pressed for specifics, she became defensive and called on Jiang Kaiyang to provide an alibi.

Jiang Kaiyang, visibly uncomfortable, confirmed that he and Liu Wei had been in a cafe discussing business for an extended period. As Xu Chunli attempted to add more details, Jiang Kaiyang abruptly pulled her away, apologizing to Qin Gang for the disturbance and attempting to leave. Wan Xinxin protested their departure, stressing the gravity of the situation. Qin Gang, however, seemed to dismiss the immediate issue.

Liu Wei, irritated, remarked to Qin Gang that Wan Xinxin's words seemed to carry more weight. Wan Xinxin then told Qin Gang that he didn't need to defend Hua Ming and that she would uncover the truth herself. Later, Hua Ming was on the phone with a senior colleague, mentioning he was almost done packing and preparing to leave.

His colleague informed him that his website had been hacked, to which Hua Ming responded that he already knew and considered it a good time to shut it down, stating he just needed to take things slowly and wouldn't give up on his dream. Shortly after, Wan Xinxin visited Hua Ming. She asked him directly if Qin's mother's death was related to his surgery, and he unequivocally confirmed that the surgery was successful.

Hua Ming acknowledged Qin Gang's belief that the death was linked to the surgery, but expressed indifference, asserting that his clear conscience as a doctor was enough. Wan Xinxin countered, emphasizing the paramount importance of a doctor's reputation and questioning why he would abandon his renewed calling. She declared that while he might not care, she did. Touched by her concern for his reputation, Hua Ming thanked her.

Wan Xinxin then clarified that she felt a personal responsibility, having implored him to perform the surgery. She told him he was free to leave, but only after unequivocally clarifying the entire situation, otherwise she would not let him go. Later, Hua Ming's friend, Xu Ke, visited and found him no longer packing, having decided to stay and clear his name as per Wan Xinxin's insistence.

Meanwhile, Liu Wei continued to manipulate Qin Gang, who was mentally exhausted by recent events. When Qin Gang expressed his urgent need to delve into company finances to establish his credibility, Liu Wei advised him to adopt a "long-term" perspective. She cautioned him against appearing agitated and impatient, which could undermine his authority with shareholders and executives, and pledged her unwavering support in carefully investigating the company's accounts at a strategic time.

Reassured, Qin Gang confided that he felt uneasy about Jiang Kaiyang handling all company matters. During this time, Xu Chunli repeatedly called Jiang Kaiyang, pleading with him to tell her everything and turn himself in, but he evaded her questions. Jiang Kaiyang then locked Xu Chunli inside their home and proceeded to Qin Gang's company. He accessed the company computer and prepared an authorization contract for Liu Wei.

After a moment of hesitation, reflecting on his life with Xu Chunli, he stamped the document with the company seal. He presented the completed contract to Liu Wei, who triumphantly declared that all company assets would soon belong to them. Jiang Kaiyang then instructed Liu Wei to deposit the substantial funds into a company account first, due to the large sum, and demanded that at least half of the money be transferred by the following morning. Liu Wei, though annoyed by his urgency, reluctantly agreed.
