Encounter with You Episode 17 Recap
> Encounter with You Recap
Jiang Kaiyang proudly commanded the staff at Qin Gang's reopened 4S store. During this time, Xu Chunli called him, demanding to know where he had been all day. Jiang Kaiyang, growing irritated, questioned if he needed to inform her of his whereabouts and confidently declared he would make a comeback one day. Qin Gang, having overheard Jiang Kaiyang's phone conversation, presented him with the company ledger.
He instructed Jiang Kaiyang to take it home to show Xu Chunli the store's millions in annual profit, promising to promote him to manager in two to three years if things continued successfully. Back home, Jiang Kaiyang felt his future was bright. He informed Xu Chunli that he had gotten his old job back, emphasizing his success and accusing her of constantly suspecting him of an affair.
He proudly displayed the company ledger entrusted to him by President Qin, highlighting the millions in annual profit. He then coldly stated his desire for a divorce, causing Xu Chunli to be distraught. She later confided in Wan Xinxin, explaining Jiang Kaiyang’s arrogance and how Qin Gang's company had reopened with promises of management and millions in profit.
Wan Xinxin was surprised, recalling Hua Ming had previously told her Qin Gang's store was operating at a loss, and angrily questioned Hua Ming's intentions. Hua Ming became upset that Wan Xinxin suspected him. It was then that Wan Xinxin received a call from her alma mater. A teacher invited her to an alumni gathering the next day, stating her academic performance was outstanding and some of her student artwork would be displayed.
Excited by the invitation, Wan Xinxin insisted Hua Ming accompany her to the event, which she described as her art exhibition. At the gathering, Hua Ming found the mix of ages unusual for an alumni event and suspected something was off. Wan Xinxin inquired among the attendees, only to discover they were there for various reasons—a new education seminar, a clothing sale—and not an art exhibition at all.
As Wan Xinxin stood confused, Qin Gang appeared, revealing himself as the organizer. Hua Ming, realizing the deception, stated that the entire event was arranged by Qin Gang. Qin Gang then sincerely apologized to his former teachers and neighbors for past wrongdoings, giving them expensive gifts as a token of his sincerity. He then turned to Wan Xinxin, expressing deep regret for his past mistakes, especially since she left him.
He publicly asked for her forgiveness, vowing to dedicate his entire life to making amends. Wan Xinxin, though bewildered, told Qin Gang that he had better mean everything he said, adding that true love should make someone smile, not sad. Qin Gang responded that he would wait for her forgiveness forever, even if it took a lifetime.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Liu Wei had orchestrated this entire event to help Qin Gang win back Wan Xinxin, hoping to sow discord between Wan Xinxin and Hua Ming. Back home, Wan Xinxin remained deeply unsettled by the day's events. Hua Ming, noticing her distress, repeatedly asked if she was softening towards Qin Gang and considering a reconciliation. Wan Xinxin, feeling overwhelmed, confessed that she was upset and just felt Qin Gang had matured.
She clarified she wasn't taking him back but acknowledged they would always be connected through their child. Hua Ming, however, believed she still harbored feelings for Qin Gang. He expressed suspicion that all of Qin Gang's recent actions, including the car show incident and the current situation with the 4S store, seemed too convenient and possibly part of a plan to regain Wan Xinxin's trust, especially since he knew the store had been losing money for a long time.
Wan Xinxin, however, defended Qin Gang, saying that people can change and Hua Ming shouldn't always resort to "conspiracy theories." She also asserted that she had forgiven Qin Gang. Feeling misunderstood and hurt by her implied accusation of him lying, Hua Ming became upset and left to cool off. The next day, Hua Ming saw Wan Xinxin carefully preparing a bouquet.
He asked if she was going to the beach to pay respects to her father, confirming it was his birthday. Wan Xinxin declined Hua Ming's offer to accompany her, stating she could manage by herself, though Hua Ming reminded her to wear a coat as it would be windy by the sea.
When Wan Xinxin arrived at the beach, she was surprised to find Qin Gang already there, having set out flowers and wine to commemorate her father's birthday, an act Liu Wei had suggested to Qin Gang. Hua Ming, who had made his way to the beach with flowers, witnessed Wan Xinxin and Qin Gang together. That night, Hua Ming, visibly distressed, told Wan Xinxin he had a headache and left the house without much explanation.
He went to a bar and met Xu Ke, where he drank heavily in silence. Concerned, Xu Ke urged him to speak. Hua Ming, somewhat under the influence, lamented that he never expected to fall in love at his age, admitting his feelings for Wan Xinxin and her child, but confessed he didn't know how she felt about him. Xu Ke criticized him for not confessing his feelings directly, urging him to get an answer from Wan Xinxin herself.
Hua Ming expressed his belief that he and Wan Xinxin were "right person, wrong time," constantly out of sync. Meanwhile, Wan Xinxin was also troubled at home, crying uncontrollably. Xu Chunli, surprised to see her in such a state, learned that Wan Xinxin had fallen for Hua Ming but was unsure of his attitude, finding him to be hot and cold.
Xu Chunli strongly advised Wan Xinxin that Hua Ming was not a suitable match and urged her to reconcile with Qin Gang, who had been actively pursuing her and was Xiaobao's father. However, Wan Xinxin insisted that her heart belonged to Hua Ming. Xu Chunli then advised her that love alone wouldn't sustain them and that as a woman, she needed someone reliable.
