> Don't Leave After School Recap

A maintenance worker adjusts new surveillance cameras in the school, which are now discreetly monitoring students. In the cafeteria, Fang Xue and Tang Tiantian discuss whether these cameras are truly functional or just a scare tactic. During a self-study session, while Mr. Yin is away on a business trip, students are restless. Ms Lei receives a call reporting a student, Gu Shang, sleeping. She dismisses it, but then the caller mentions a girl acting strangely.

Ms Lei instructs to zoom in, and they observe Tang Tiantian writing a love letter. Ms Lei then bursts into the classroom, confronting Tang Tiantian publicly. She demands to see the love letter, stating that as a senior student, Tang Tiantian should be focused on studies, not romance. Ms Lei forces Tang Tiantian to stand up and take off her jacket, revealing the hidden letter, then proclaims that no bad deeds can escape her watch.

Tang Tiantian, deeply humiliated, hides in the restroom and cries. Fellow students try to comfort her, emphasizing that it is Ms Lei’s fault for disrespecting privacy. Fang Xue confronts Ms Lei, stating her actions were disrespectful and urging an apology. Ms Lei rebuffs her, questioning Fang Xue's authority to lecture her and openly reminding her of the significant efforts her parents made to secure her admission, implying she was ungrateful for her hard-won opportunity.

Determined to protest, Fang Xue creates a joint letter and presents it to her class, asking everyone to sign against Ms Lei's behavior. Many students hesitate, fearing reprisal. Cheng Jing courageously steps forward to sign, inspiring a few other classmates to follow suit. Fang Xue approaches Ms Lei with the signed letter, but Ms Lei dismisses it, belittling the signatories as "insignificant individuals."

Ms Lei continues to mock Fang Xue, reminding her of the efforts her parents made to get her into the school and accusing her of being ungrateful. Meanwhile, Qiao Mai is coerced by a male student who previously blackmailed her with photos. The student demands she continue washing his clothes, reminding her that he helped her get exam questions in the past and she should do more good deeds. In the cafeteria, Fang Xue discusses strategy with Gu Shang.

Gu Shang offers lighthearted advice about dealing with Ms Lei by simply agreeing with her, then subtly takes Fang Xue's chicken leg. Back in the dorm after night self-study, Fang Xue tells her roommates her new plan: since Ms Lei likes to make students take off their coats, they should simply stop wearing school uniform jackets to class. Her roommate believes this method is more effective than the joint letter.

The next day, Fang Xue proposes the no-uniform protest to her class, aiming to make a significant statement that their class is not devoid of compassion. Some students express concerns about the appropriateness of such actions, but Fang Xue insists on fighting against the constant surveillance. She takes off her jacket first, followed by Cheng Jing, then other students, including Wei Lai, who declares he is doing what he believes is right.

Tang Tiantian, however, sits quietly in a corner, dreading the potential embarrassment this protest could bring upon her. During physical activities, all classes gather on the playground, but Class 4-1 is conspicuously absent. Suddenly, they appear, all dressed in their personal clothes instead of school uniforms. Ms Lei, enraged, singles out Fang Xue, Wei Lai, Li Dalai, and Cheng Jing, accusing them of being rebellious. She questions their values and asks if they want to "fall together with her."

Two quick-thinking students put on their uniforms and return to class, but Wei Lai remains, stating Fang Xue and the others did nothing wrong. Ms Lei punishes them by making Fang Xue, Wei Lai, Cheng Jing, and other defiant students run 20 laps around the playground. As they run, exhausted but determined, they encourage each other.

Their perseverance moves other students, and word spreads, leading to class leaders from other senior grades, as well as junior grades, approaching Fang Xue to express their solidarity and willingness to join the no-uniform campaign. Fang Xue is thrilled by this growing support. Meanwhile, Tang Tiantian is subjected to mocking from other students, who link her love letter to the uniform protest, exacerbating her humiliation.

After night self-study, Tang Tiantian learns that Class 3, Senior 3 – the class of her crush, Wang Ziqi – will also participate in the no-uniform protest. Distraught at the thought of being shamed in front of him, she confronts Fang Xue in a heated argument. Tang Tiantian accuses Fang Xue of only thinking of herself and not considering others' feelings, especially her embarrassment.

Feeling hurt by her friend's strong words, Fang Xue, with a heavy heart, informs the other class leaders to cancel the solidarity protest, leaving her in an awkward position. That evening, Wei Lai sees a dejected Fang Xue sitting alone under an awning. He offers her his jacket and exchanges a brief, comforting conversation before heading back upstairs. The next morning, Wei Lai finds his jacket neatly folded on Fang Xue's desk.

Soon after, Mr. Yin returns from his business trip. He addresses the class, commending Fang Xue for helping a classmate but advising them to find wiser methods for their protests. He then boldly takes a screwdriver and begins dismantling a surveillance camera. Ms Lei witnesses this, and her angry shout startles Mr. Yin, causing him to fall from his chair. He is subsequently called to the Principal's Office for a meeting. Outside the office, students anxiously await Mr. Yin.

When he finally emerges, they rush to him, concerned about his well-being and fearing he might be transferred. Mr. Yin reassures them, stating firmly that he will not leave and will stay with them until the Gaokao (College Entrance Examination) is over. He promises to provide an explanation regarding the surveillance cameras. Later, Tang Tiantian approaches Mr. Yin to apologize for the trouble caused by her love letter.

Mr. Yin listens patiently, assuring her that liking someone is not wrong but requires prioritizing. He expresses his belief that she is a sensible student who can handle her feelings maturely, suggesting that she speak with Fang Xue directly. Following Mr. Yin's advice, Tang Tiantian apologizes to Fang Xue, expressing deep regret for her earlier outburst. Fang Xue forgives her, acknowledging her own impulsiveness and thanking Tang Tiantian for being honest.

They reconcile, and Tang Tiantian shares the story of why she likes Wang Ziqi. The next morning, the school announces a compromise: the surveillance cameras will remain for safety, but their focal length will be reasonably controlled to respect privacy. Subsequently, Mr. Yin makes a public self-criticism to the entire school for damaging school property.

In his address, he also encourages his students, reminding them that making mistakes is part of growing up and urging them to cherish their remaining time together. Upon his return to class, Mr. Yin is greeted with enthusiastic applause from his students. As he walks to the podium, he announces that a "large-scale adult interactive party"—which he then clarifies is a parents' meeting—will be held in a few days, drawing groans from the previously excited students.
