Butterflied Lover Episode 22 (Ending) Recap
> Butterflied Lover Recap
Tang Qianyue awoke to the bright morning light and quickly began to get ready. Sisi entered the room looking for her mother, with Ling Changfeng following close behind. Ling Changfeng complained about Sisi's boundless energy, comparing her to Bao Zhu when she was young. Tang Qianyue, however, found this delightful, saying that Bao Zhu was gentle and lovely in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Kun Qing, concerned that Ling Changjin and Bao Zhu were still asleep so late in the morning, pressed his ear to their door. He Xi, noticing this, assured Kun Qing that there was nothing to worry about and urged him to leave. As Kun Qing reluctantly departed, still looking back, He Xi, touched yet amused by his concern, advised him, as an unmarried man, not to worry about things he didn't understand.
Bao Zhu was still sleeping soundly in bed when Ling Changjin gently woke her, reminding her they were expected at Tang Qianyue's house. Bao Zhu then remembered it was New Year's Eve. She immediately sprang up and playfully demanded a hug from Ling Changjin, who indulged her, carrying her to the dressing table. At Tang Qianyue’s, there was only one fish, posing a dilemma for the New Year's Eve dinner.
Sisi preferred steamed fish, Bao Zhu liked braised, and Ling Changjin enjoyed spicy and numbing (mala) flavor. Tang Qianyue expressed her uncertainty about which flavor to choose. When asked for her own preference, she admitted she liked spicy, so Ling Changfeng quickly decided they would prepare it spicy, much to Tang Qianyue's happiness. Soon after, Ling Changjin arrived and was immediately roped into the kitchen by Ling Changfeng to help with cooking.
They began to prepare scrambled eggs with tomatoes, each insisting their method was superior—one advocating for eggs first, the other for tomatoes. In a playful challenge, Ling Changfeng quickly poured the eggs into the pan, and Ling Changjin, not to be outdone, promptly added the tomatoes. Neither managed to properly cook the dish, so they abandoned their culinary efforts to join Bao Zhu and Tang Qianyue for a game of mahjong. Alone at home, Taiwei felt a pang of loneliness.
Despite his proud declarations that his two rebellious sons never invited him and he would never go to their residence uninvited, his feet led him toward their home. Ling Changfeng spotted Taiwei and went to meet him, inviting him to celebrate the holiday together. Taiwei, however, tried to save face, claiming Ling Changjin had invited him. This was awkward as Ling Changjin was already inside.
Tang Qianyue and Bao Zhu, one on each arm, warmly pulled Taiwei into the house to celebrate. Inside, Taiwei found it hard to fit in. The house was filled with the sounds of mahjong and heavy drinking. He tried to engage Sisi, only to find her enthusiastically practicing swordplay with Sang Qi, learning a "flying sword move." Sang Qi even lightly chided Taiwei for being old-fashioned.
Sisi chose to continue her sword practice over playing with a top, leaving Taiwei feeling even more out of place. Finally, the New Year’s Eve dinner was ready. Everyone gathered around the table to eat. Ling Changfeng and Tang Qianyue raised a toast, wishing for national prosperity, peace, and long-lasting love for everyone with their beloved. Taiwei, his face beaming like a flower, chased Sisi around, finally experiencing the joyous feeling of having his grandchildren nearby.
