Tang Qianyue, feeling hungry late at night, was delighted when Ling Changfeng roasted sweet potatoes for her. She ate five with great enthusiasm, getting crumbs around her mouth. Seeing this, Ling Changfeng fondly recalled a night many years ago in a mountain cave when they had shared roasted food by a fire in the same way. He gently teased Tang Qianyue, noting that even though she was about to become a mother, she still retained her endearing, uninhibited charm.

Tang Qianyue, for her part, expressed her hope for many more long and happy years together. A moment later, Tang Qianyue accidentally let out a small fart, which Ling Changfeng heard. He playfully remarked on it, causing Tang Qianyue to blush with embarrassment. She playfully chased him around, demanding he stop, but he simply scooped her into his arms and carried her away. Meanwhile, Bao Zhu suddenly felt an intense cold, lying in bed in a daze.

Ling Changjin quickly covered her with extra blankets and ensured the charcoal fire was burning strongly. Yet, her hands remained icy. He pondered why her health was deteriorating, especially since he hadn't taken her blood for a considerable period. Seeing her pale face, Ling Changjin made a firm decision, removed his outer robe, and embraced Bao Zhu, holding her close as they slept.

The next morning, Bao Zhu woke to find herself in Ling Changjin's arms, filling her with immense joy. She gently traced his eyebrows and eyes, then playfully pinched his usually stern lips, delighted to find them soft. Ling Changjin had already woken but feigned sleep, unaware of Bao Zhu's actions. Bao Zhu, lost in her happiness, did not notice his tightly clenched fist hidden beneath the covers.

Later that day, Eunuch He served Bao Zhu breakfast and, noticing her radiant happiness, inquired about its cause. Bao Zhu secretly confessed that Ling Changjin had held her while they slept. When Eunuch He pressed if anything "else" had happened, Bao Zhu was genuinely surprised, not understanding what more there could be. Seeing her pure and innocent expression, Eunuch He decided not to pursue the matter further, concluding that Ling Changjin was clearly doting on her.

Bao Zhu eagerly affirmed this, praising Ling Changjin for being kind and gentle towards her. Ling Changjin, having learned that premium coals from Northern Abyss and valuable fox-fur from the South Frontier had arrived as tribute, went directly to the palace to request them from the Emperor and Empress Dowager. He also made sure to acquire the elegant hand warmer the Empress Dowager was holding.

This made both the Emperor and Empress Dowager worry deeply, believing that Ling Changjin's demanding nature indicated that Princess Bao Zhu was having a very difficult time in his mansion. Unbeknownst to them, Ling Changjin had the premium coals and hand warmer sent immediately to Bao Zhu, who quickly felt much warmer. He then instructed a skilled craftsman to create a beautiful cloak from the fox-fur for Bao Zhu, emphasizing that it should be made to look especially good.

Later, Bao Zhu, still innocent regarding romantic relations, approached Ling Changjin, with Kun Qing also present, to ask if he would sleep with her that night. She asked Kun Qing to cover his ears before posing the question. Bao Zhu explained that if he intended to, she would use one blanket, but if he preferred to sleep separately, she would use two, as she had been feeling cold lately but found it warm when they shared a bed.

Ling Changjin, slightly flustered, told her they would discuss it later and asked her to leave. Despite covering his ears, Kun Qing couldn't suppress a chuckle. Annoyed by Kun Qing's laughter, Ling Changjin immediately ordered him to receive five strokes on the back as punishment from the military storehouse. That night, Ling Changjin entered the room with a book after Bao Zhu had already fallen asleep. He saw her peacefully sleeping under two blankets, which vexed him.

He undressed and lay on a hard bed made of chairs, constantly looking at Bao Zhu and wondering how she could sleep so soundly and without a care, muttering to himself if he had ever said he didn't want to sleep together. He wondered how she could sleep so sweetly by herself. The next morning, Bao Zhu attempted to secretly visit Tang Qianyue and Ling Changfeng, trying to evade the servants by telling them not to inform Ling Changjin.

She walked a long distance with a heavy bag of food, complaining about the cold and the arduous journey. She believed she was nearing her "cousin's house" (referring to Tang Qianyue and Ling Changfeng's residence). However, Ling Changjin had anticipated her plan and was secretly following her. He eventually revealed himself by taking the heavy bag from her back, which made Bao Zhu exclaim about it becoming lighter.

When confronted by Ling Changjin and Kun Qing, Bao Zhu claimed she was doing "weight-bearing exercise." She tried to send Kun Qing away, saying he had important duties. When Ling Changjin offered to carry the bag for her, she refused, secretly deciding she needed to get rid of him to prevent him from discovering Tang Qianyue's location. Bao Zhu then cunningly pointed out a peculiar insect, urging Ling Changjin to look closely and extend his hand to catch it.

Once he had it, she dramatically revealed it was a poisonous insect called Qingdai, a self-defense tool from her father, warning him that without an antidote, he would be poisoned to death within seven steps. Ling Changjin calmly demanded the antidote, but Bao Zhu mischievously declared she possessed it but would only give it to him after she completed her "exercise."
