The classroom plunged into darkness when the lights suddenly malfunctioned. When the teacher tried to switch them on, the light tubes exploded, startling everyone. Lin Xingchen, scared, instinctively hid in Lu Yibai's arms, accidentally pulling off a button from his school uniform.
Lu Yibai, in turn, protectively shielded her, then shyly turned and went out to find a repairman. Lin Xingchen felt a little sweet because of this. The teacher quickly instructed someone to turn off the circuit breaker and sent Lu Yibai to call a repairman. Meanwhile, Lin Xue sustained an injury, prompting the teacher to send her to the medical room. Lin Xingchen, still holding Lu Yibai's button, carefully placed it in her pencil case.
Later that evening, Lu Yibai's mother noticed the missing button on his uniform and replaced his uniform with a new one. At the same time, Yang Ruoying called Lu Yibai, announcing her return from abroad. The next morning, Lin Xingchen, feeling cheerful, wore a pink hairpin. During lunch, Yang Ruoying joined Lu Yibai and the exchange students, including Jenny, at a table. Jenny openly asked Lu Yibai if he and Yang Ruoying were a couple, causing him visible embarrassment. During PE class, the teacher demonstrated badminton serving techniques, including forehand high serves and backhand serves. Zhang Haotian enthusiastically guided Lin Xue through the moves, while Lu Yibai, as usual, instructed Lin Xingchen.
Later, during eye exercises, Lu Yibai, who was on blackboard duty, noticed Lin Xingchen's incorrect hand position and gently corrected her by placing her hand in the right spot, instantly brightening her mood. However, feeling exhausted from lack of sleep, Lin Xingchen dozed off during math class. The teacher caught her and called her out for her poor homework performance, then singled her and Yang Ruoying out to solve a problem on the blackboard.
Lin Xingchen was unable to solve it and was publicly chastised by the teacher, who contrasted her lack of progress with Yang Ruoying's ability to keep up despite having missed a semester abroad.
