Gu Chenyu picked up Xia Xiaoning, telling her they were going to the recording studio because it was Mobuyu’s recording day. Upon their arrival at the studio, staff member Brother Liu attempted to escort Xia Xiaoning out, stating it was a private session and she was only called for important roles. However, Gu Chenyu asserted that Xia Xiaoning was his girlfriend and would be a frequent visitor, causing Brother Liu to awkwardly leave.
Xia Xiaoning expressed concern to Gu Chenyu about potential gossip, but he assured her he would handle it and that no one would dare to speak carelessly. Gu Chenyu then reminded Xia Xiaoning that she was Mobuyu's sole designated contact person for the project and asked if Mobuyu could invite her to dub opposite him. Xia Xiaoning accepted, acknowledging it as Mo Da's invitation, and they both put on headphones, beginning their dubbing session.
Meanwhile, Luo Li presented Hao Yanran with a shortlist of candidates for the female lead audition, remarking that General Gu seemed overly strict. Hao Yanran explained that General Gu would only be satisfied when he found the most suitable candidate. Luo Li then reported Xia Xiaoning and Gu Chenyu’s activities, which displeased Hao Yanran.
Luo Li seized the opportunity to suggest Hao Yanran herself was highly suitable for the female lead’s voice role, emphasizing that this would provide more opportunities for her to perform with Gu Chenyu. At the office, Leader Wang stealthily approached Xie Fei’s office door but was intercepted by Jin Yao. Later, Xie Fei confidently declared he would make Jin Yao quit within ten days. He then asked her to deliver his afternoon tea, which was a specific English milk tea, three parts milk to seven parts Earl Grey tea, no sugar, strictly by proportion.
To his surprise, Jin Yao delivered it perfectly. Xie Fei mused on how she knew his preferences, concluding that she must be very fond of him, while contemplating the "pain" of his own excellence. At the recording studio, Gu Chenyu continued to listen to auditions for the female lead, but remained dissatisfied with all the voice lines and emotional deliveries. Luo Li suggested that Hao Yanran demonstrate her skills, highlighting her deep understanding of the character.
Gu Chenyu agreed, noting Hao Yanran's excellent past work. Hao Yanran performed the female lead’s lines, earning widespread praise for her rich emotion and strong voice control. Gu Chenyu acknowledged her competitive edge for the role and advised her to seriously consider returning to the dubbing world, which she agreed to do.
Later, Luo Li engaged in a conversation, conspicuously loud enough for Xia Xiaoning to overhear, speculating that a pairing of Hao Yanran and Mobuyu would create "another good story in the dubbing world." Xia Xiaoning interjected, stating that "Lethe," as a key company project, should be treated seriously, and that "randomly forming combinations" would only generate gossip, bringing no real benefit to the project itself. Xia Xiaoning and Gu Chenyu later saw Jin Yao and Xie Fei arriving home together.
Xia Xiaoning, intrigued, approached Jin Yao to playfully pry for details about their fast-developing relationship. Separately, Xie Fei complained to Gu Chenyu about Jin Yao, declaring he would move out that very night and instructing Gu Chenyu not to tell Xia Xiaoning. Gu Chenyu watched Xia Xiaoning diligently preparing for her female number two role. Xia Xiaoning admitted that after hearing Hao Yanran's impressive dubbing, she felt a significant gap in her own abilities and wanted to close it.
Gu Chenyu led her to a fish tank, encouraging her by comparing her growth to that of the fish, emphasizing that dubbing, like development, requires consistent practice rather than sudden bursts of effort. He reassured her that she didn't need to compare herself to anyone, as her unique, unconventional dubbing style was her strength, and in his eyes, she was unparalleled. Gu Chenyu then playfully kissed Xia Xiaoning. When she accused him of taking advantage, he invited her to reciprocate.
Xia Xiaoning kissed him back and tried to run, but Gu Chenyu pulled her close for another kiss. Just then, they heard moving noises next door. Xia Xiaoning speculated about the source of the noise. Gu Chenyu revealed it was Xie Fei moving, explaining that Xie Fei had specifically asked him not to tell her.
Xia Xiaoning immediately tried to run out to inform Jin Yao, but Gu Chenyu caught her, pinned her against a wall, and turned off the lights to prevent her from leaving. Xie Fei, having just moved, came by to greet Gu Chenyu, but seeing the lights off, assumed he was asleep and left.
The next day, during a meeting, it was officially announced that Hao Yanran had been confirmed as the undisputed choice for the female lead, with her audition receiving unanimous praise on Pineapple's homepage. All departments were instructed to prepare, as the recording of the female lead and female number two segments of "Lethe" would commence in fifteen minutes. In the recording studio, Hao Yanran and Xia Xiaoning began their scene.
Hao Yanran criticized Xia Xiaoning for not adequately conveying emotion, suggesting she was merely reading lines rather than immersing herself in the character's context. She added that while she could adjust her pace, the project schedule couldn’t be delayed. Gu Chenyu interrupted, asking them to pause and allowing Hao Yanran to rest while he took over to help Xia Xiaoning find her rhythm. Later, Hao Yanran met Tang Xue, who was clearly resentful.
Hao Yanran offered Tang Xue a stack of money as compensation for their past unpleasant dealings. With a subtle glance from Hao Yanran, Luo Li then subtly provoked Tang Xue, highlighting that a newcomer had been cast in a significant role over her. Finally, Hao Yanran asked Tang Xue for a favor. Tang Xue, feeling acknowledged by Hao Yanran, readily agreed to help.
