Xia Xiaoning, an aspiring voice actress, initially experiences a vivid fantasy where she is praised for a flawless dubbing performance. However, she is quickly brought back to reality in a recording studio, where another person notices a discrepancy in their scripts. Xia Xiaoning explains she is dubbing the role of Maid Yun, only for the director to reveal that Maid Yun's part has been deleted and replaced with a bodyguard's scene due to script changes.

Brother Liu, who knows Xia Xiaoning, pulls her aside to apologize for the oversight, admitting he forgot to inform her. Xia Xiaoning expresses her disappointment, having prepared extensively and memorized all the lines for the role. Brother Liu dismisses her efforts, remarking that Maid Yun's part was only a single line anyway, making its absence insignificant. He then dismisses her from the studio.

As she leaves, she overhears a colleague quoting Ink Without A Word, saying "roads leading to the dream are always rugged." Despite missing out on a speaking role, Xia Xiaoning remains cheerful, anticipating meeting her idol soon. As Xia Xiaoning walks along, excited about her upcoming meeting, she unties her shoelace, briefly placing her bag on a nearby car. To her surprise, the car suddenly starts moving.

She frantically chases after it, shouting for it to stop and retrieve her bag. The car eventually halts near a puddle, and her bag falls, scattering her photos across the ground. The driver, Ink Without A Word, misunderstands the situation, accusing her of stalking and taking candid photos. He aggressively snatches her phone, deleting her digital photos and tearing a physical one. Xia Xiaoning indignantly confronts him, accusing him of street robbery and invasion of privacy.

Ink Without A Word coldly states he won't pursue the matter but warns her against a repeat incident. Xia Xiaoning demands her photos back and an apology. Ignoring her, he hands her a business card, instructing her to call if she believes money can resolve the issue, before driving off, leaving her furious and bewildered by his arrogance.

Later that day, Ink Without A Word, the car owner from the previous encounter, attends a fan meeting for the "Man Show Carnival Celebration." Xia Xiaoning, after meticulously cleaning her fan merchandise, enthusiastically joins the audience. During the interactive segment, she is chosen to join Ink Without A Word on stage. She introduces herself as Xia Xiaoning, a loyal fan who has followed his voice for four years.

She proudly presents a meticulously handcrafted fan support board adorned with her own photos of him. The host confirms Xia Xiaoning's deep familiarity with "Phoenix Jue," Ink Without A Word's debut drama, which Xia Xiaoning declares her "introductory drama," capable of reciting every line. They then proceed to re-dub a classic scene from "Phoenix Jue."

Ink Without A Word voices Hyun Chul, lamenting the loss of three significant women in his life, while Xia Xiaoning portrays Sheyue, asserting that true love transcends worthiness. The scene concludes with Hyun Chul's offer to wait for Sheyue should she ever tire of worldly pursuits, and Sheyue's heartfelt desire to be with him in the present moment.

Following their performance, Ink Without A Word is invited to rest, and the "Morning Breeze Girls Group" is introduced to perform "Sending Acacia." After the fan meeting, Ink Without A Word attempts to discreetly leave the parking lot but once again bumps into Xia Xiaoning. She immediately confronts him, demanding an apology for his earlier actions, listing his transgressions: dirtying her belongings, unwarranted theft of her property, privacy invasion, and rude remarks. As she enumerates his "crimes," a man approaches.

Ink Without A Word swiftly covers Xia Xiaoning's mouth and pulls her into a secluded corner. Once the man passes, Ink Without A Word abruptly releases her and walks away. Later, Xia Xiaoning recounts the incident to her friend, screenwriter Jin Yao, lamenting Ink Without A Word's seemingly insincere apology and his peculiar behavior, which she attributes to delusions. She confirms her plan to move in with Jin Yao after her interview the following day.

Meanwhile, Ink Without A Word, after a swim, urges Mr. Xie to sign a contract, specifically mentioning "Lethe." Mr. Xie, however, diverts the conversation, revealing he attended Ink Without A Word's fan event that day. Mr. Xie suggests that Ink Without A Word's long-standing mysterious persona, built on rarely showing his face, is merely a gimmick. He then attempts to recruit Ink Without A Word, promising to elevate him to the top voice actor in the industry.

Ink Without A Word declines the offer, stating he would likely disappoint Mr. Xie. The following day, Ink Without A Word is seen at a bar named Steven, where he intervenes to prevent a fight involving Steven's younger brother. It is also revealed that Steven was the one who handed Ink Without A Word's business card to Xia Xiaoning the previous day, confirming their connection. Concurrently, Xia Xiaoning attends a voice acting interview.

Despite other candidates highlighting their attractive appearance or admitting communication difficulties, Xia Xiaoning, whose resume is noted as the "worst" and who lacks a professional voice acting background, passionately expresses her love for online voice acting and her ambition to join a professional company. She is informed that while her qualifications are insufficient for a direct voice actor role, she is offered an assistant position with the potential for transfer to a voice actor position if she proves her aptitude.

Xia Xiaoning readily accepts. Her friend, Jin Yao, later clarifies that Xia Xiaoning was chosen not for her obvious merits, but because her "simple, practical, and ordinary" demeanor makes her an ideal assistant, particularly for a high-profile individual, implying the interviewer strategically sought someone unassuming. Later, having moved into her new home, Xia Xiaoning video calls her mother, proudly showcasing her tidied room and a charming small balcony with flowers.

To her dismay, she spots Ink Without A Word on the adjacent balcony. He immediately assumes she is stalking him or taking photos again, threatening legal action if any of his privacy is leaked. Xia Xiaoning vehemently denies his accusations, labeling him delusional and narcissistic, and expressing her frustration at their repeated, unwelcome encounters, calling him a jinx.

Ink Without A Word, meanwhile, considers the possibility that she is an obsessive fan or paparazzi, and contemplates moving again due to the perceived intrusion. The next day, Xia Xiaoning, excited for her first day at work, encounters Ink Without A Word in the elevator. He immediately confronts her, questioning why she has tracked him to his company rather than calling Steven for money.

Xia Xiaoning counters, pointing out that she entered the elevator first and, by his own logic, he could be tracking her. She reminds him that he still owes her an apology. As their heated exchange continues, the elevator doors open. Several individuals outside immediately greet "CEO Gu," revealing Ink Without A Word's true identity. A colleague then introduces Xia Xiaoning to Ink Without A Word as his new assistant.
