After closing the door, Wen Xin blushed, unable to hide her feelings for Su Ziguang. Wen Xin returned home and announced her decision to move back.
When her father, Wen Yajun, questioned her choice of toys, she defiantly responded that she was a grown woman who had followed his path for too long and now wished to choose her own way, emphasizing that her future efforts would be for herself. Meanwhile, Lan expressed his strong desire to be Polimoda's opening model, asking Han Qing what qualities she thought an opening model should possess.
Han Qing described the ideal traits but gently suggested Lan could achieve this "in the future," explaining that Polimoda, a women's shoe brand, was not suitable for a male opening model. Lan then subtly manipulated Han Qing, voicing his insecurity about their differing statuses and implying that being the opening model would bridge the gap. He also reminded her of her authority as a co-founder. Han Qing, swayed by his words, agreed to let him try.
During the rehearsal, Wen Rou unexpectedly arrived, despite being scheduled for a prenatal checkup. She was angered to see Lan on stage as the opening model. Wen Rou confronted Han Qing, using the "Bluebeard" analogy to highlight Lan's manipulative nature. She pointed out Lan's repeated attempts to influence their show's direction and accused him of exploiting Han Qing's weaknesses. Wen Rou unequivocally stated that Lan was unfit and would not be the opening model.
Later, Han Qing comforted a disheartened Lan, buying him his favorite shoes and suggesting they get matching pairs. Han Qing called Wen Rou, reminding her about a 10 AM model interview she needed to oversee, as Wen Rou had a prenatal checkup. Unbeknownst to Wen Rou, Shan Liang had arranged a surprise for her. He took her to a hotel, revealing it wasn't for a checkup but to meet Liu Meng, a top model.
Han Qing, hearing Wen Rou's excuse, momentarily suspected Wen Rou was slacking off, remembering Lan's earlier complaints. Shan Liang gave Wen Rou a gift and her design booklet, encouraging her to secure Liu Meng for the show on her own merit. Wen Rou skillfully pitched her vision to Liu Meng, emphasizing the show's fairy tale theme and Han Qing's design talent. Impressed but cautious, Liu Meng agreed to visit their venue and discuss further with Han Qing.
Upon returning to the venue, Wen Rou was met with an enraged Han Qing, who accused her of lying about her prenatal checkup and "slacking off" due to her pregnancy, manipulating everyone, and burdening Han Qing with all the work. Wen Rou was deeply hurt, highlighting Han Qing's drastic change since dating Lan and the damage to their friendship.
She clarified that her secret meeting was to secure Liu Meng for the show and announced that their professional relationship would henceforth be strictly business, devoid of personal ties. Shan Liang later comforted a distressed Wen Rou, agreeing that Han Qing had been manipulated by Lan, likening him to Bluebeard. They then discussed their own relationship, reflecting on past instances of over-protection and dependence, and resolved to foster mutual independence.
Wen Rou messaged Han Qing about Liu Meng's upcoming visit to the venue. However, Lan intercepted the message on Han Qing's phone and deliberately failed to inform her. The next morning, Liu Meng arrived promptly, only to find Han Qing still asleep. When Han Qing finally arrived, smelling of alcohol, Liu Meng was disappointed by her unprofessionalism and opted to reconsider the collaboration.
Wen Rou discovered Lan's deception, but Han Qing continued to defend him, claiming she was drunk and that Lan was working hard. Wen Rou was furious at Han Qing's blind loyalty. Lan then seized the opportunity to advocate for his classmate as the opening model, pretending to care for Han Qing but actually trying to save face. The situation escalated when a selfie video posted by Lan and his classmate, revealing the show's stage setup, was leaked online.
Despite the undeniable evidence, Han Qing continued to shield them, claiming she hadn't adequately informed them about the change in opening models. Wen Rou and Su Ziguang, exasperated, decided to focus on damage control. Later, Wen Xin arrived at the venue, having heard about the leak. She initially tried to hide from Su Ziguang but her phone rang, revealing her location.
When confronted, she claimed she was lost and looking for Wen Rou to offer help, citing her experience and connections. Su Ziguang questioned her motives, given their competitive relationship. Wen Xin retorted that fair competition was essential and she didn't want Wen Rou to lose due to external issues, subtly hinting at other motivations. Su Ziguang playfully suggested she might be helping him, to which Wen Xin gave an evasive answer.
Su Ziguang then noticed Wen Xin covertly filming him as he watched the empty runway. When caught, he teased her, offering to pose for her if she liked him, then performed an exaggerated walk on the runway. Su Ziguang later sought advice from Shan Liang, describing a driven female client who, despite her rationality, would use her authority and sacrifice personal interests for a male client.
Shan Liang initially assumed he was speaking of Wen Rou but quickly realized he was describing Wen Xin. Shan Liang immediately started referring to Su Ziguang as "brother-in-law." That night, Wen Rou brought food to Han Qing. As they shared a meal and reminisced about their impoverished beginnings, including sharing a single bowl of noodles, Wen Rou remarked on Han Qing's "tricksy" nature, suggesting she wasn't suited for "romantic, pure fairy tale themes" but rather "alternative fairy tales." This conversation sparked an idea, leading them to decide on "Dark Fairy Tales" as the new theme for their show.
