Yu, an employee of Yihao Hotel, arrived at Shan Liang’s office. Wen Rou, sensing Yu's interest in Shan Liang, quickly joined them, holding afternoon tea and hugging Shan Liang to assert her claim. Yu began by sincerely proposing that Yihao Hotel and Xunmi co-organize a blind date event for mutual benefit. She acknowledged Xunmi's existing hotel partner but argued that a timely change would bring freshness to customers, emphasizing Yihao Hotel's superior environment and service.
Wen Rou countered, stating Xunmi's current partner was a century-old hotel with a long history of cooperation and corporate friendship, implying Yihao was too new. Yu argued that Yihao’s youth made it more suitable for Xunmi and Shan Liang, suggesting new attempts were beneficial. Wen Rou retorted that new attempts eventually become old and dull, and Xunmi’s long-term agreement with their current partner couldn’t be easily broken.
Yu then used a marital analogy, stating that marriage could end in divorce, let alone a business partnership, and Shan Liang, as a dating company CEO, should understand this better. Jian Jian then arrived with water, and Shan Liang promptly delegated the cooperation discussion to Jian Jian and Yu, effectively ending the confrontation between the two women. After Yu and Jian Jian left for the conference room, Wen Rou remained with Shan Liang.
When Shan Liang questioned her calm demeanor in the face of a rival, Wen Rou expressed her confidence, explaining that the best strategy was to let Yu's "green tea" tactics fail on their own. She stated that Yu only liked Shan Liang's status, while she loved him as a person, believing Shan Liang would discern Yu's true intentions. Meanwhile, Wen Xin received many automated birthday greetings from banks and insurance companies, but only Su Ziguang sent a personal message.
Her father, Wen Yajun, refused to let her come home for her birthday, believing she needed to experience the hardships of independent living after running away. Wen Xin posted on social media about spending her birthday alone in a strange house with a leaky pipe, and how only one person remembered her birthday. She privately thanked Su Ziguang. An online friend messaged her, asking if she was Wen Xin, which she denied.
Soon after, Su Ziguang called her, revealing he was her online friend "Gold Assistant," having recognized her address from a previous visit to Wen Rou’s place and her social media post. Su Ziguang immediately went to Wen Xin’s small house. Wen Xin, still proud, implicitly denied having a party with friends, then quickly recruited him to fix the leaky pipe. Despite Su Ziguang's lack of handyman skills, the leak worsened, forcing him to improvise with his shirt to plug it.
As they spent time together, Wen Xin confided that she was living there because she had quarreled with her father. Su Ziguang realized she was truly homeless on her birthday. He offered to stay and celebrate with her, and they decided to go out. During a work discussion, Han Qing noticed Wen Rou’s distraction and urged her to focus, warning she might lose both her career and husband. Wen Rou silently resolved not to give up on Shan Liang.
She called Shan Liang, fabricating a story about a problem with her hotel room and asking to stay in his room. Shan Liang saw through her pretense, revealing her attempt to use an electric fan for sound effects. Wen Rou then confessed she couldn’t sleep alone and pleaded for him to stay, but he sent Xiao Mei to accompany her instead. Later, after showering, Wen Rou went to Shan Liang’s room to borrow a hairdryer.
She remembered Shan Liang's past warning about not taking her health lightly and admitted she missed him and wanted to see him. Shan Liang dried her hair, and she feigned sleep on his bed. Su Ziguang and Wen Xin searched for a birthday cake, but all bakeries were closed. They found a small cake at a convenience store and a star-shaped candle at a nearby toy store. Su Ziguang used his phone’s flashlight to help her celebrate by the roadside.
Wen Rou then sent Wen Xin a birthday message right on time, claiming Shan Liang had asked her to, though Wen Xin knew her sister remembered. Wen Xin reflected on her past desire to always win against Wen Rou, now realizing her sister's challenges and good qualities. She felt guilty for taking an opportunity (referring to the Liu Meng incident) that could have solved Polimoda's financial issues, wishing Liu Meng had worn Wen Rou’s designed shoes back then.
Su Ziguang reassured her that Polimoda had potential and would find investors. The next day, Su Ziguang approached Wen Rou and Han Qing at their office, offering to invest in Polimoda. He stated it was a business decision based on market analysis, not personal. Wen Rou, wanting to avoid suspicion and Shan Liang’s anger, declined, citing Su Ziguang's past pursuit of her.
However, Han Qing, knowing how much Polimoda meant to Wen Rou and believing Shan Liang would be happy for her to achieve her dream, secretly signed the investment contract with Su Ziguang. Han Qing later presented the signed contract to a stunned Wen Rou, explaining her reasoning before quickly leaving. Shan Liang, learning of Su Ziguang's investment, encountered him at the hotel.
He warned Su Ziguang not to take advantage of the "little couple's fun" between him and Wen Rou, clarifying they weren’t truly fighting. Su Ziguang, however, asked about their issues. Shan Liang then moved his company meeting to the hotel, using a discussion about client gifts for Children’s Day (or other random holidays) as an excuse to summon Wen Rou to the meeting.
Meanwhile, Yu coincidentally met Su Ziguang in the elevator, exchanging flirtatious remarks and planning to meet up for a drink. Jian Jian informed Wen Rou that Shan Liang wanted to see her, also mentioning Shan Liang knew about Su Ziguang's investment. Realizing Shan Liang still cared, Wen Rou canceled her meeting with Su Ziguang and quickly prepared herself. Shan Liang, however, was indecisive about meeting her, leading Wen Rou to call Su Ziguang repeatedly, confirming and then canceling their meeting.
Frustrated by the back and forth, Su Ziguang went to Shan Liang’s meeting room. He directly told Shan Liang that he knew about Shan Liang and Wen Rou's marital "fun" and that his investment in Polimoda was partly driven by Wen Xin’s guilt toward Wen Rou, but also his own "selfish" desire to help Wen Rou with resources. He explained that his deliberate provocation was to help them resolve their issues. Shan Liang apologized for his earlier suspicions.
Later, Yu met with Jian Jian, dramatically announcing she had fallen in love. To Jian Jian’s disappointment, she revealed her new love was a cat she found near the hotel. Meanwhile, Jian Jian secretly passed Shan Liang’s schedule to Wen Rou, who declared her intention to "conquer" her husband the following day.
