Wenderella's Diary Recap

Episode 1 Recap

The Xunmi app is a well-known dating platform designed to help single individuals find their ideal partners efficiently by integrating user information and improving matching success rates. Shan Liang, a young man, has recently taken over the company from his father. High-heeled shoe designer Wen Rou sought to collaborate with Xunmi. She impressed the staff with her designs, particularly a "Crystal Shoes" inspired wedding shoe, which Shan Liang found artistic.

However, Xunmi's manager, Zou Jing, mistakenly identified her as Wen Xin from Wanli Group, a major domestic brand. Wen Rou clarified that she is Wen Rou, the founder and designer of Polimoda, a new, handmade designer brand she started with her partner, Han Qing. Upon realizing her mistake, Zou Jing's attitude shifted, and she informed Wen Rou that Xunmi had decided to continue its partnership with Wanli.

Wen Rou tried to argue for Polimoda's quality and value over brand recognition, but Zou Jing dismissed her, stating that a brand's prestige is what makes it valuable. As Wen Rou angrily left, she entered an elevator where a delivery man was carrying snail rice noodles. Another woman, dressed in pink, rudely demanded the delivery man leave due to the smell.

Wen Rou, displeased by the woman's behavior, stood up for the delivery man, asserting that the elevator was for everyone. This quickly escalated into a physical altercation between Wen Rou and the woman in pink, with Wen Rou's partner, Han Qing, joining in. Shan Liang, who was also in the elevator, witnessed the entire scene. All parties were taken to the security office, where Shan Liang corroborated Wen Rou's account, confirming that the woman in pink initiated the fight.

He then instructed his staff to process a refund for the aggressive customer, stating that Xunmi would not conduct business with such individuals. After being cleared, Wen Rou thanked Shan Liang and invited him for coffee, but he politely declined, stating his help was simply an act of kindness. While Shan Liang spoke with his staff, who addressed him as "Young Mr. Shan," Wen Rou quickly looked him up online and discovered he was Xunmi's CEO.

Seizing the opportunity, as Shan Liang was about to leave, Wen Rou staged an elaborate fall. Shan Liang rushed to assist her, and she used the chance to properly introduce herself as Wen Rou, the founder and designer of Polimoda, a fashion brand she started in Italy with her partner, Han Qing, emphasizing its unique artistic and modern designs, popular abroad, and specialized custom services.

She made it clear that her purpose in being there was to discuss a partnership with Xunmi. During the meeting, Wen Rou's presentation of Polimoda was met with skepticism from some of Shan Liang's staff, who deemed it too niche and unknown compared to established brands like Wanli, fearing that gifting Polimoda shoes to important clients might be seen as disrespectful. However, Shan Liang was deeply impressed by Wen Rou's design philosophy.

He pointed out a crucial detail: while both Polimoda and Wanli used lambskin, Wanli put it on the shoe's exterior sole, whereas Polimoda used it for the inner foot-pad. Shan Liang interpreted this as Polimoda prioritizing the wearer's comfort and experience, a metaphor he extended to the Xunmi app's mission, likening marriage to shoes where "only the feet know whether they are comfortable or not."

Recognizing Wen Rou's sincere and thoughtful design, Shan Liang enthusiastically approved the collaboration, congratulating her on the partnership. The successful collaboration sparked an immediate romantic interest in Wen Rou, who then invited Shan Liang to dinner. Shan Liang accepted, and after their meal, he offered to drive her home. However, Wen Rou playfully declined, teasing him about "absence makes the heart grow fonder" before reassuring him of her safety.

Their initial attraction quickly blossomed into love, and they began a sweet and romantic relationship. Shan Liang proposed, and they soon had a flash marriage. After their marriage, during a celebratory dinner, Wen Rou offered to pay the bill to avoid always letting Shan Liang treat her. However, she was taken aback by the expensive total and impulsively offered to promote the restaurant on her Weibo account, leveraging her large following in exchange for a discount.

Shan Liang, desiring a grand wedding despite their quick nuptials, promised to fulfill all her wishes, including a long, flowing wedding dress, a pumpkin carriage, and a large green lawn. He then suggested holding the wedding at her family's manor, referencing photos she had shown him. Wen Rou's smile momentarily faltered, but she quickly agreed to the idea. To maintain her fabricated socialite image, she decided to rent a luxurious estate for the wedding.

Her partner, Han Qing, expressed concern about their financial strain, reminding Wen Rou that they were "almost broke girls" despite the Xunmi order and urging her to confess the truth to Shan Liang, believing he valued her genuine self rather than her supposed wealth. Wen Rou, however, insisted she would reveal the truth later, prioritizing the establishment of their Polimoda brand first.

The next day, Wen Rou prioritized a factory visit with Han Qing to oversee Polimoda's first batch of shoes, even though it meant delaying her wedding dress fitting with Shan Liang. At the factory, they learned that their order for sought-after crystal materials was prioritized over a canceled order from Wanli, a fact that both validated Polimoda and highlighted the competitive landscape.

Han Qing jokingly remarked that for "Cinderella," selling shoes seemed more important than getting married, to which Wen Rou affirmed her passion for her brand. When Wen Rou finally arrived at the bridal shop, it was already closed, but Shan Liang was patiently waiting for her, having even bought her takeout. As she tried on her dream wedding dress, Shan Liang was captivated and vowed to make her the happiest woman in the world.

Later, while changing, Wen Rou overheard Shan Liang discussing a Xunmi client, Ms. Yuan, who was being overlooked due to her profile, despite her kind nature and volunteer work. Shan Liang passionately argued for Ms. Yuan's inclusion in a blind date event, emphasizing that "everyone is equal in love" and that clients should "see the essence through the outside," not just superficial details. This conversation made Wen Rou realize she had misjudged him; he truly valued inner qualities.

Convinced he would still love and accept her, Wen Rou decided that night to confess her true situation to Shan Liang. That evening, as Wen Rou prepared to confess, she found Shan Liang reading aloud from W. Somerset Maugham's "The Painted Veil." The passage he read described a profound love for someone despite knowing their shallow, self-serving, and "second-rate" nature, and the act of hiding one's true self to conform to a partner's expectations.

Wen Rou was terrified, believing Shan Liang had discovered her deception. Though he was merely reading, praising the book for its accurate portrayal of complex emotions, her fear was palpable. After a nervous shower, Wen Rou cautiously probed Shan Liang, asking if he would blame someone for hiding something. Shan Liang then revealed he had fired the account manager who initially mistook Wen Rou for Wen Xin, because the manager accused Wen Rou of deliberately misleading her.

Shan Liang vehemently declared that "no matter how serious a lie is, it is a matter of quality," and that neither he nor Xunmi could tolerate someone "full of lies," reaffirming his trust in Wen Rou. This conversation shattered Wen Rou's courage to confess. Shan Liang then brought up meeting her parents, who she claimed lived abroad, before their wedding. Panicked, Wen Rou quickly diverted the conversation.

The more loving and trusting Shan Liang was, the more terrified Wen Rou became of revealing the truth. Ultimately, she decided to proceed with the marriage first, hoping he would not care about her real family background after they were wed. At Xunmi, Shan Liang was reviewing a critical feedback report from a non-member, Mr. Su, who lambasted the company's outdated business model and corporate culture.

Soon after, Shan Liang met with this Mr. Su, identified as Su Ziguang, the General Manager of Huixin Investment, who was actually interested in investing in Xunmi. Su Ziguang, while praising Xunmi's "matching social status" philosophy, expressed skepticism about a female member's optimized profile. He then recounted a past incident where he was "scammed the same way by a girl" who misrepresented her humble dwelling in a city village as a stacked villa.

He directly challenged Shan Liang, asking if he could tolerate such deception from his own partner. Unaware of Wen Rou's secrets, Shan Liang confidently declared himself "very lucky," stating that his wife had never lied to him and was "perfect." At that precise moment, Wen Rou entered the office, and upon seeing Su Ziguang, who greeted her warmly, she froze in stunned silence.

Episode 2 Recap

Wen Rou’s composure briefly faltered as she spotted Su Ziguang, her ex-boyfriend, but she quickly regained her ladylike demeanor and greeted him alongside Shan Liang. Shan Liang proudly introduced Wen Rou as his wife, a high heels designer for the fashion brand Polimoda, praising her as a perfect woman who even prepared his daily homemade lunches. He affectionately mentioned that she never lied to him.

While Shan Liang was called away to sign a document, Su Ziguang immediately cornered Wen Rou, exposing her facade. He revealed that her Polimoda brand was merely an empty shell without mass production, and her "homemade" sandwiches were store-bought.

He stated he had come specifically for her, questioning if Shan Liang truly understood her, and implying her online persona was a deception similar to a previous experience he had with a girl who misrepresented her humble dwelling as a stacked villa. Wen Rou countered, insisting her love for Shan Liang was genuine, despite her hidden truths, and that she was committed to making Polimoda a success for him. Su Ziguang dismissed her aspirations as an illusion.

Upon Shan Liang's return, Su Ziguang attempted to expose Wen Rou’s true character, insinuating she was not as innocent as she seemed. However, Shan Liang, fiercely loyal, misconstrued Su Ziguang's intentions as a disgruntled ex-suitor harassing his wife. He confidently declared his complete trust in Wen Rou and warned Su Ziguang to stay away, reassuring his wife of his protection. As Su Ziguang left, he muttered about Shan Liang's naivety, calling him a "sweet simpleton."

Later, Wen Rou confided in Han Qing about Shan Liang’s unwavering belief, comparing it to Xu Xian's loyalty when Fa Hai told him Bai Suzhen was a snake in "The Legend of the White Snake." She was convinced Shan Liang would never doubt her, believing her sincerity would prevail, though Han Qing cautioned her against playing a dangerous game.

Wen Rou, unwilling to give up her humble cottage where she felt most authentic and could gaze at the stars, symbolizing her dreams, asserted her determination to succeed. On their wedding day, Wen Rou, in her bridal gown, expressed her joy to Han Qing, who then revealed a crisis: the landlord had double-booked the manor venue, leading to a film crew arriving to shoot a romantic drama.

Seeing Director Zhang mistake Shan Liang for an actor and begin giving him instructions, Wen Rou realized confronting them would expose her lie about the manor being her home. She decided to go along with the charade. Han Qing quickly explained to Shan Liang that Wen Rou had specially hired the renowned Director Zhang and his team to film their wedding documentary, prompting Shan Liang to ask their guests to cooperate with the film crew.

During the staged "rehearsal," Director Zhang repeatedly interrupted, demanding more emotion and smiles from the "couple" and guests. After a lunch break where the real wedding guests ate boxed meals from the crew, Han Qing discovered from the script that a climactic scene involved a lamp falling on the groom, leaving him crippled and in a wheelchair for life.

Horrified at the thought of Shan Liang being harmed, Wen Rou, driven by genuine love, feigned a sudden fainting spell just as the prop lamp was about to drop, pulling Shan Liang to shield him. The director, abandoning the scene, dismissed his crew. Shan Liang, concerned, comforted Wen Rou, who, still acting, expressed her overwhelming emotions and a wish for a private wedding, just for them, without cameras. Shan Liang, touched, sent the film crew away.

Their actual wedding then proceeded with Shan Liang's father as witness. Shan Liang declared himself the happiest man in the world to be marrying his beloved Wen Rou, and after heartfelt vows, they exchanged rings and shared a loving kiss. Unseen, Su Ziguang observed, confirming on a phone call with Mr. Shen that he had arranged the film crew, disappointed that his attempt to expose Wen Rou had been thwarted by her quick thinking.

After their wedding, Wen Rou began documenting their married life on Weibo, which coincided with a steady increase in Polimoda's sales. She confided in Han Qing that she believed herself to be Shan Liang's Cinderella. Soon after, Shan Liang brought Wen Rou to his family home. His father gifted Wen Rou a pair of silver earrings, which she happily put on. However, Shan Liang, knowing she was allergic to silver, immediately asked her to take them off, showing his attentiveness.

Shan Liang's father then had Wen Rou change into more comfortable clothes to help him with his passion for farming. During this visit, Shan Liang's father inquired about Wen Rou's family. Wen Rou smoothly recounted a pre-prepared lie, stating she attended a boarding school and that her parents, who lived abroad, were unable to attend the wedding. Shan Liang's father expressed his approval of Wen Rou and Shan Liang, sharing a poignant story about Shan Liang's childhood.

He recalled that Shan Liang's mother passed away when he was ten, leaving him silent and isolated at school. One day, however, Shan Liang suddenly became cheerful again, crediting a girl who had helped him during his difficult time, showing him that there were many good people in the world. Moved, Wen Rou privately resolved to reach a point where she could stand as Shan Liang's equal, at which time she would reveal her entire past to him, without reservation.

Wen Rou continued her online persona, posting staged photos of her "morning runs" and "buying Shan Liang's favorite bread" on Weibo. At the factory, placing additional orders, she excitedly shared with Han Qing that Polimoda’s daily sales had surpassed Wanli, expressing her ambition to overtake them in every aspect. However, soon after finalizing the order, Han Qing called with dire news: Polimoda’s trademark had been bought at a high price, invalidating their existing contracts. Wen Rou immediately suspected Su Ziguang.

She confronted him, and he admitted to orchestrating the film crew at her wedding. He refused to sell the trademark back, stating he bought it for "fun" and provocatively suggested her business success was only due to her marriage to Shan Liang. Wen Rou vehemently denied this, asserting that her earnings were from her own efforts and that she chose Shan Liang for love, not shortcuts.

With her trademark gone and the factory refusing to halt production due to contractual obligations and potential losses, a disheartened Wen Rou retreated to her old cottage, reflecting that "every cause has an effect" and that her "retribution is myself," like Cinderella returning to her original state. Su Ziguang watched her from afar, musing that he sought to understand why she was honest with him but lied to her husband, a mystery that profoundly intrigued him.

Back home, Shan Liang noticed Wen Rou’s somber mood. As she began to confess, he interrupted with a surprise: a beautiful handbook he created from her design sketches found on her workbench. He revealed he knew her goal was to surpass Wanli, contrasting Polimoda's commitment to unique design with Wanli’s trend-chasing tendencies to cater to popular tastes. He pledged to help her "surpass Wanli" together, encouraging her to please herself rather than others.

Deeply moved, Wen Rou thanked him and reaffirmed her promise to become the best designer but kept silent about her current crisis. Han Qing advised Wen Rou against either apologizing to Su Ziguang or confessing to Shan Liang, as both options would lead to financial ruin and implicate Shan Liang. Instead, she proposed stalling their partner, Xunmi, for two weeks while she secured a new trademark from another authentic Italian workshop.

At Xunmi, an employee named Zou Jing expressed strong concerns to Shan Liang about the delayed shipment of high heels, which were promised as March 8th gifts, questioning his commitment to Xunmi’s reputation over his wife's company. Wen Rou arrived with afternoon tea, overhearing the conversation. She confidently assured Zou Jing that the factory issues were resolved, and all shipments would be made the following day, promising that Xunmi's integrity would not be compromised.

Despite her brave assurances, the unresolved trademark issue weighed heavily on Wen Rou. Determined not to disappoint Shan Liang, she decided to seek help from an unspecified person, even if it meant setting aside her ambition to surpass Wanli. She vowed not to let Shan Liang down, not even once.

Episode 3 Recap

Wen Rou arrived at her family home without her wedding ring, her sister Wen Xin surprised by her unexpected visit. Over dinner with her stepfather Wen Yajun and mother Cui Xuelan, Wen Rou seemed distant. Her mother offered her favorite fried meat, noting Wen Rou's rare visits. Wen Yajun dismissed Wen Rou's small business, suggesting she return to Wanli if it failed.

Wen Rou clarified that her business was Polimoda, the brand Wen Xin had just mentioned as having snatched a collaboration with Xunmi away from Wanli. Wen Rou admitted she was there because her products had encountered issues and she needed Wanli's help with inventory. While Cui Xuelan outwardly scolded her for potentially damaging Wanli's reputation, she subtly defended Wen Rou, acknowledging the difficulties of entrepreneurship.

Wen Rou, with tears in her eyes, seized this opportunity, portraying herself as a struggling, unassisted entrepreneur whose Polimoda trademark was unfairly sold after she had paid for it, leaving her with unsellable shoes. Moved, Wen Yajun agreed to let her use Wanli's new season product inventory. Wen Xin attempted to object to her products being used, but Wen Rou quickly thanked both her father and Wen Xin with saccharine words, proclaiming them good sisters.

After dinner, Wen Xin confronted Wen Rou, knowing her display was an act and questioning why she would humble herself for the first time before their father. Wen Rou confessed that the situation involved Shan Liang and Xunmi, and a little pretense was necessary. Shan Liang's assistant, Jian Jian, reported that the shoes Wen Rou shipped to customers were from Wanli, not Polimoda.

Further investigation revealed that Wen Rou had never registered the Polimoda trademark; it belonged to an Italian keychain brand. The original brand owner had planned to sell the shoe trademark to Wen Rou, but an unknown party offered a higher price and acquired it, leaving Wen Rou's manufactured shoes untrademarked. Shan Liang, convinced Wen Rou was simply naive about business and was carrying the burden alone, decided to buy the trademark for her.

He met with Su Ziguang, who was the buyer of the Polimoda trademark. Shan Liang began offering increasingly higher prices, eventually agreeing to pay ten times the original cost. Su Ziguang accepted, intending to teach Shan Liang about "human nature's nastiness" and make him question if his wife was worth such a price. Shan Liang then went to handle the shoe inventory, following the factory's address to a small, unassuming cottage.

The landlord there informed him that Wen Rou had been living in that cottage for years. Shan Liang realized that all of Wen Rou's stories about her background were fabrications, and he was overwhelmed by disappointment and sadness. Upon Wen Rou's return home, she playfully greeted Shan Liang, but he, still reeling from his discoveries, responded by quoting cynical lines from a book about a woman loved despite her flaws, which visibly unnerved Wen Rou.

He pressed her for a confession. Realizing he knew the truth, Wen Rou admitted that her shoes' issue was the trademark, not quality, and that she bought a pendant with his card rather than receiving it as a gift from Han Qing. She also confessed to feigning a dislike for garlic and shallots to appear elegant and finally acknowledged that the humble cottage was indeed her home, where she had lived for years.

Tearfully, she explained that she wasn't as perfect as he believed, and her lies stemmed from her deep love for him and fear of losing him, similar to how Su Ziguang had rejected her for her imperfections. She expressed relief at her confession, believing she didn't deserve his forgiveness. She then quickly packed her belongings, stating she couldn't face him, and proposed a divorce, instructing him to send her the papers.

Shan Liang was left bewildered, feeling as though he were the one at fault. Wen Rou confided in Han Qing about revealing her true self, asserting that Shan Liang's love for her was as profound as Xu Xian's for the White Lady, despite Han Qing's reminder that her situation more closely resembled Cinderella's fairy tale. Meanwhile, a dejected Shan Liang told Jian Jian that proposing a divorce should have been his prerogative.

The next morning, Wen Rou brought breakfast to Shan Liang's office. Seeing another breakfast already on his desk, she feigned sadness, hinting that someone else had already catered to him. She then requested a ride home to retrieve some items, claiming to have forgotten her keys. In the car, she pointed out a red hair on the passenger seat, subtly contrasting it with her own linen brown hair to imply another woman's presence.

Upon arriving home, she discovered a strange lipstick on the coffee table, prompting her to shed tears and sadly conclude that the house was no longer her home. Later, Jian Jian, Xiao Mei, and Zou Jing showed Shan Liang surveillance footage, revealing that Wen Rou herself had strategically placed the "other" breakfast on his desk. They explained that her cold demeanor was an act, a series of "small gestures" orchestrated to win him back.

Shan Liang realized he had fallen into her ploy once more. The following morning, movers sent by Wen Rou arrived with a short list of items. Shan Liang, seeing her meager list, expressed concern and, after some deliberation, instructed them to take all of Wen Rou's clothes from her walk-in closet. He then pondered what else she truly needed, eventually sending all her cherished belongings, both practical and sentimental, to her.

Shan Liang, finding Wen Rou's diary, read about her heartfelt journey. She recounted her joy at his initial appreciation for her shoe designs and her subsequent fear that his focus on external appearances would lead him to abandon her if he knew her true background. She described overhearing him criticize Ms. Yuan's exaggerated dating profile as "blatant deception," reinforcing her belief that he would never accept her imperfect reality.

She reflected on his castle wedding proposal and how she spent all her savings to fulfill that dream. Wen Rou also detailed her struggle with the trademark issue, choosing to use Wanli's shoes for Xunmi despite her personal aversion to Wanli, to protect Shan Liang's nascent reputation at Xunmi. She concluded that Shan Liang was worth any sacrifice, affirming her profound love and determination not to lose him.

Shan Liang, deeply moved, believed Wen Rou genuinely struggled with her imperfections and self-image. He saw his act of sending her belongings back, while intentionally keeping her cherished pillow, as an unspoken invitation for her to return. Speaking with Han Qing on the phone, Wen Rou confirmed that Shan Liang had indeed kept her special pillow, the one she couldn't sleep without, interpreting it as a subtle olive branch and part of her "scripture retrieval" plan.

Meanwhile, Wen Rou's mother, Cui Xuelan, visited, expressing frustration over Wen Rou's business struggles and her refusal to work with Wen Xin at Wanli. Cui Xuelan revealed her secret support for Wen Rou's entrepreneurial ventures but found her stubbornness misguided. Wen Rou then revealed a diamond ring, announcing her marriage.

Cui Xuelan, relieved that her daughter had found a good partner, attributed it to "good genes," but Wen Rou clarified that her marriage was for love, not convenience, and that she was now getting divorced. She challenged her mother's past favoritism towards Wen Xin and her decision to send Wen Rou away, questioning if such actions truly constituted family "strength." Shan Liang, confined to his home due to an important phone call, held a regular company meeting there.

His employees, Xiao Mei and Zou Jing, while sympathetic, advised him to move on from Wen Rou, likening her deception and the "Cinderella" narrative to "marital fraud." Shan Liang, conflicted, argued that Wen Rou had shown genuine affection and made sacrifices, questioning why she shouldn't be given another chance and suggesting there was "room for negotiation." Late that night, Jian Jian found Shan Liang still distraught, clutching Wen Rou's pillow.

Jian Jian encouraged him to reconcile with her, but Shan Liang hesitated, still wounded by her deception and uncertain of her genuine feelings, yet also wondering if he had judged her too harshly. Concurrently, Wen Rou, having set a late-night alarm, prepared to post on Weibo, purposefully cultivating a weak, haggard, and insomniac appearance as part of her intricate plan to win Shan Liang back.

Episode 4 Recap

Wen Rou, looking as if she had barely slept, applied a weak and haggard makeup. She expected Shan Liang to arrive, but the person who knocked on the door was a flash delivery driver with her pillow. Wen Rou realized Shan Liang was truly angry this time. Meanwhile, Shan Liang's assistant, Jian Jian, advised him not to harbor resentment towards Wen Rou. Shan Liang clarified that his frustration stemmed from her lies, not her family background.

Desperate to reconcile, Wen Rou deliberately posted a photo of herself looking ill on Moments, hoping to draw Shan Liang to her. She went to extreme lengths, blowing cold air on herself and even drinking expired lactic acid bacteria to genuinely fall sick, promising herself she would confess everything about Wanli if he came. When Shan Liang eventually arrived, Han Qing, Wen Rou’s friend, discreetly left. Shan Liang, after taking Wen Rou's temperature with a thermometer, softened.

He immediately took off his jacket to make her some porridge. In the kitchen, Shan Liang was annoyed by loud arguments from both upstairs and downstairs neighbors. He called the property staff to complain about the poor sound insulation, but they dismissed him, telling him to move to a quiet penthouse if he wanted peace. Frustrated, Shan Liang secretly ordered takeout porridge, pretending it was his own.

Wen Rou, having witnessed his efforts, was deeply touched, despite knowing he had ordered it. After drinking the porridge, Wen Rou changed into a revealing nightgown and lingered near Shan Liang. He saw through her attempt to seduce him, pointing out that if she were truly sick, she wouldn't be wearing so little. Shan Liang then draped his jacket over her and told her to go back to bed.

Wen Rou genuinely apologized, explaining that from the first moment she met him, she only wanted to secure a business partnership. However, his words in the meeting room, where he appreciated her lambskin pad design, deeply moved her. She said she had fallen in love with him because he was the only one who truly saw her effort and care.

Feeling like Cinderella, she lacked self-confidence and feared that if she didn't lie, she wouldn't even have the right to love a "prince" like him, especially after learning about Xunmi’s standard system which seemed to value family background. But when she overheard him telling Jian Jian that judging someone solely on information was superficial, she realized he wasn't that kind of person. She knew her lies were terrible and became afraid to face him.

She confessed to watching him fumble in the kitchen for her and being touched, even knowing he ordered takeout. Shan Liang, touched by her heartfelt confession, assured her that he didn't care about those external things and wouldn't let her lose him. He advised her to let go of her anxieties and trust him. Later that night, Shan Liang casually picked up the thermometer again and discovered it was a constant temperature device.

This confirmed Wen Rou had still been faking her illness. Enraged by the continued deception, he immediately left. He went to his father's house, feeling betrayed and questioning if Wen Rou's love for him was also a lie. His father, however, revealed that he had already sensed Wen Rou’s deceptions. He told Shan Liang not to focus on superficial details, as true love transcends such things.

He even confessed to puncturing Shan Liang's mother's bicycle tire years ago just to have an excuse to help her and win her heart. He stressed that what truly mattered was Wen Rou’s genuine love for Shan Liang, advising him to look at her essence. Meanwhile, Xunmi faced a public relations crisis.

A client named Mr. Jiang had publicly exposed the company for fabricating client information (specifically for Miss Yuan), sparking a widespread online backlash against Xunmi's hierarchical membership system, which was criticized for prioritizing material wealth. Han Qing updated Wen Rou on the dire situation. Now genuinely ill, Wen Rou decided to help Shan Liang. She reached out to Mr. Jiang and convinced him to withdraw his complaint against Xunmi.

She helped him understand that he himself was valuing material conditions in a partner, and suggested he remove his wealth information from Xunmi to find someone who truly appreciated him. Mr. Jiang followed her advice, eventually found true love with Miss Yuan, and expressed gratitude to Wen Rou and Xunmi for helping him see beyond superficiality.

Shan Liang learned that Mr. Jiang had withdrawn his complaint and appreciated Wen Rou’s intervention, which also prompted him to reflect on Xunmi's outdated membership system. Jian Jian supported the idea of changing the system, noting that modern love is individual-based, not family-based. One day, Shan Liang visited a bakery and learned that Wen Rou had been regularly reserving her favorite bread there, a sign of her true illness. Soon after, Wen Rou appeared at the bakery, looking genuinely unwell.

Seeing her truly sick, Shan Liang put aside his anger and, though still with a reserved demeanor, cared for her, feeding her medicine and preparing fresh porridge. He realized he was no longer angry, certain that her love for him was genuine. Shan Liang and Wen Rou went for a walk together. He had asked Jian Jian to arrange bright lights along the path leading to their cottage, remembering that Wen Rou was afraid of the dark.

Moved, Wen Rou confessed that she loved him for his thoughtfulness, for standing up for her in the security room, and for recognizing the true value of her design's lambskin pad, not for his wealth or background. She told him he was the one who illuminated her dark world and asked for another chance. Shan Liang, in turn, admitted his anger had been primarily due to her self-harm in her elaborate schemes and her lack of trust in him.

He then revealed that they had met 18 years ago. After his mother’s death, he was bullied at school, and a kind, brave girl had defended him. He remembered her name, Wen Rou, and the little white shoe she left behind, just like Cinderella. He recognized her instantly when he met her again in the security room. He assured her that he loved her true essence – her bravery and strength. He proposed they start fresh, without any more lies.

Wen Rou tearfully agreed, promising never to deceive him again. Shan Liang then affectionately called her his wife, praising her as the most beautiful and kind girl. Returning to their home, Shan Liang surprised her by decorating their bedroom with twinkling star lights, knowing how much she loved to gaze at the stars. Reflecting on recent events, Shan Liang decided to abolish Xunmi's existing membership matching system, believing that love transcends rules and feelings are paramount.

He also bought back the Polimoda trademark. He told Wen Rou he knew about her buying Wanli shoes and thanked her for teaching him about love and for all she had done. Polimoda's sales surged, with many online users praising their shoes as more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than Wanli’s. Shan Liang also discovered that Wen Rou spoke French, which she dismissed as unimportant. Later that night, with Shan Liang asleep, Wen Rou lay awake, lost in thought.

She reflected on her difficult childhood, feeling like "Cinderella's elder sister." She recalled how her mother, Cui Xuelan, always sided with Wen Xin and Wen Yajun, even blaming Wen Rou for Wen Xin's misdeeds and eventually sending her to boarding school to maintain peace within the family.

Episode 5 Recap

Following a successful client feedback that Polimoda shoes were preferred over Wanli’s, Shan Liang, President of Xunmi, announced a significant change to Xunmi’s dating app. He explained that the positive reception of Polimoda, a new brand he championed, over the established Wanli, proved that Xunmi’s existing hierarchical matching system was flawed. He declared the cancellation of the current system, aiming to break down barriers between users and foster a purer interpretation of love.

Instead of categorizing members by “A-level, B-level, or C-level,” the new system would classify them into “A-type, B-type, or C-type” based on their character and fundamental values. This would be determined through a questionnaire featuring controversial love-related questions, such as choosing between loving or being loved, the role of acting in a relationship, and public displays of affection.

Shan Liang tasked the Planning and Technology departments to develop an operable program within a week, later requesting a custom mini-program for himself with additional questions. Meanwhile, Polimoda's rising popularity pleased Cui Xuelan, Wen Rou's mother. However, Wen Yajun, Wen Xin's father and head of Wanli, was displeased that his long-established brand was being surpassed by an unknown competitor.

He called Wen Xin to his office, admonishing her and reminding her of Wanli's legacy, built on her late mother's design talent, and his own management skills. He emphasized that Wanli must remain the industry leader, expressing his high expectations for Wen Xin, who had inherited both talents. Wen Xin acknowledged her father's words with a hint of resentment.

Later, Wen Rou was in the middle of a live stream showcasing Polimoda’s new "red dance shoes" when Shan Liang unexpectedly returned home. He playfully interrupted her broadcast, prompting her to end it prematurely. He then had her take the new Xunmi matching test, which he described as a private, customized gift for her. After completing the test, Shan Liang revealed he was an "A quadrant" type.

Wen Rou quickly claimed to be an "A quadrant" too, emphasizing their perfect match, though the on-screen result clearly showed her as a "C quadrant." This deception highlighted Wen Rou’s insecurity. Wen Rou and her mother, Cui Xuelan, had a tense conversation where Cui Xuelan apologized for years of neglect, including sending Wen Rou to boarding school. Wen Rou confronted her mother, stating that if she truly cared, she wouldn't have done that.

Cui Xuelan brought up a past incident where Wen Rou was accused of splashing someone, and Wen Rou admitted to it. After this exchange, Cui Xuelan offered Wen Rou a new handbag. Wen Rou initially feigned disinterest, claiming she could buy it herself, but Cui Xuelan insisted a mother's gift was special. As Wen Rou tried on the bag, Wen Xin arrived home, casually remarking on its beauty.

Cui Xuelan immediately declared the bag was meant for Wen Xin and promptly handed it over, leaving Wen Rou visibly upset. It was revealed that Wen Xin's remark was intentional, as she already owned an identical bag. Shan Liang, noticing a picture of the bag on Wen Rou's phone, understood her unspoken desire. He surprised her by purchasing all three available colors of the bag.

He presented them, stating that one was for his first love, one for his confidante, and one for his wife, and that all three identities belonged to her. Wen Rou, though touched and feeling a compensation for her missing motherly love, suggested returning the yellow bag, finding it difficult to match, but Shan Liang insisted they would find a perfect match, just as they were. Shan Liang later discussed the changes to Xunmi with his father.

His father expressed full support for his son’s ambition but cautioned him against rushing, emphasizing that business development is a long process of trial and error. He questioned whether the new system would be entirely flawless, citing his own marriage with Shan Liang’s mother, which endured arguments yet remained loving, showing that love required a lifetime of effort. Shan Liang’s father concluded by stating that one should "look at the essence" of a person.

Shan Liang’s gesture of love and the underlying deception that the girl who helped him years ago was Wen Xin, not Wen Rou, deeply stimulated Wen Rou. She confessed to Han Qing that she felt a "guilty conscience," worrying Shan Liang might discover her lies and realize she wasn't the girl he believed she was.

She decided to retake the Xunmi test from Wen Xin's perspective, describing Wen Xin as outwardly elegant and dignified but inwardly cold, scheming, and prone to pretense, a "double-faced person" who always "needs acting skills" and is "flamboyant." The test result, taken from this skewed perspective, shockingly showed Wen Xin as an "A quadrant" type, a perfect match for Shan Liang.

Wen Rou was alarmed, but Han Qing reassured her that Shan Liang and Wen Xin didn't even know each other. However, at a charity reception, Shan Liang, as Xunmi’s President, and Wen Xin, as Wanli’s Design Director, were introduced. Wen Xin looked captivated by Shan Liang during his speech, subtly developing feelings for him.

Shan Liang sent a photo of himself at the event to Wen Rou, who immediately saw Wen Xin in the picture and panicked, realizing the "Cinderella's sister" scenario was unfolding. Han Qing advised Wen Rou that Shan Liang was pragmatic and disliked public displays of affection, but Wen Rou insisted that being pragmatic would lead to her losing him. To assert her claim, Wen Rou sent Shan Liang numerous couple profile pictures, insisting he choose one to use.

Shan Liang complied, noting her "commanding" tone and "strong desire to control." Wen Rou then embarked on an elaborate campaign of public affection, constantly posting staged photos and videos of her and Shan Liang in everyday scenarios—eating ice cream, morning hugs, sharing meals, yacht fishing—and tagging Wen Xin in every post. Shan Liang, though visibly uncomfortable and serving as a "tool," reluctantly participated.

One morning, Wen Rou posted a picture of bread she had bought for him, claiming he had queued to buy "her" favorite bread. Shan Liang later confronted her, expressing his dislike for such high-profile displays of affection, distinguishing between genuine sharing and mere "showing off." He pointed out her lie about the bread, but Wen Rou brushed it off, asserting that his kindness and her kindness were the same, and that he was indeed the loving "Mr. Shan" she portrayed.

Wen Rou staged another elaborate scene, pretending to lose her ring in the park. Shan Liang, concerned, grabbed a flashlight and helped her search the grounds, eventually finding the ring she had intentionally dropped. Wen Rou, feigning surprise, kissed him. This entire episode was filmed and quickly went viral online, with employees Xiao Mei and Jian Jian praising Shan Liang’s "domineering president spoils wife" image and suggesting Xunmi leverage it for a new campaign.

Shan Liang, however, expressed his disapproval, reiterating that Xunmi was about finding "real love," not creating "fake" illusions, and that he couldn’t accept Wen Rou deceiving others. Meanwhile, Wen Rou, confident in Polimoda's sales, continued her relentless campaign of sending messages to Wen Xin, which were set to be visible only to Wen Xin. Han Qing worried about irritating Wen Xin or having her expose Wen Rou's past lie about being Shan Liang's childhood helper.

However, Wen Rou believed Wen Xin wouldn't expose her, as Wen Xin had lied back then too. Wen Rou’s persistence finally paid off when Wen Xin, exasperated by the constant updates, sent a frustrated reply stating the messages were "bothering" her. Wen Rou, ecstatic, immediately blocked Wen Xin, declaring her victory, certain that Wen Xin’s response proved her intense emotional investment.

Shan Liang, still disturbed by Wen Rou’s exaggerated public displays, was presented by Zou Jing with surveillance footage from the park. The video clearly showed Wen Rou deliberately dropping the ring for Shan Liang to find. Shan Liang, hurt and angry at being deceived again, returned home to find Wen Rou waiting. Sensing his mood, Wen Rou quickly confessed and apologized, promising never to manipulate him into such public displays again.

She acknowledged his discomfort and injuries from the staged events, explaining her actions were driven by a desperate desire for the world to see his goodness, which had spiraled into a performance for its own sake. She assured him she had reflected deeply and would stop, feeling a "guilty conscience." Shan Liang, overwhelmed, found himself "stuck," unable to articulate his thoughts.

Later, Zou Jing casually mentioned Wen Rou’s elaborate stunts and Shan Liang’s devotion (including a "whole wall of bags") to her husband, Mo Yingchen, Director of Luxbuy’s publicity department. Mo Yingchen immediately saw the couple's image as perfect for Luxbuy's target audience of young women who fantasized about romantic love. He decided to propose a collaboration and asked Zou Jing to facilitate a meeting.

During the meeting with Wen Rou and Han Qing, Mo Yingchen proposed a live-streamed promotional campaign titled "The Day of Mrs. Shan," showcasing Wen Rou’s luxurious daily life and subtly integrating Luxbuy’s mobile application. Wen Rou expressed concerns about privacy and Shan Liang’s reaction, reminding them of her promise to him. Mo Yingchen reassured her about privacy and revealed that Shan Liang would be on a business trip on the proposed shooting day.

He then added a crucial incentive: if the collaboration was successful, Polimoda could be featured on Luxbuy. Wen Rou immediately agreed and signed the contract, her previous hesitation vanished. Before Shan Liang left for his business trip, Wen Rou helped him pack, and he commented on her recent change, noting she wasn't showing affection anymore. She reiterated her commitment to being her "truest self."

She expressed how much she would miss him, and he jokingly offered to cancel his trip, but she insisted work was important and she would feel a "guilty conscience" if he missed work for her. The moment he left, Wen Rou swiftly began redecorating their home with wedding photos for the Luxbuy shoot. During "The Day of Mrs. Shan" live stream, Wen Rou greeted the Luxbuy audience, showcasing their home.

She highlighted Shan Liang's devotion, claiming he insisted on living near her studio despite his long commute, and designed the home according to her preferences. She showed off a star-themed ceiling installation in their closet, asserting that Shan Liang spent a day installing it because she loved stars.

In her walk-in closet, she proudly displayed Polimoda shoes, including her wedding shoes, which she claimed Shan Liang personally mended after she broke them, emphasizing their sentimental value and that they brought her to him. She then dramatically opened a box filled with "gifts," claiming they were birthday presents from Shan Liang for every year from her eighteenth to her twenty-fourth birthday, including a handmade wallet and a doll she wanted as a child.

She told the audience that Shan Liang regretted missing her adult birthdays and made up for it with these gifts. Unbeknownst to Wen Rou, Shan Liang had completed his business trip early and was returning home. His assistant noted his eagerness to see Wen Rou. As Wen Rou prepared to read a heartfelt letter she claimed Shan Liang had written for her, Shan Liang suddenly appeared from the walk-in closet.

He walked over, startling Wen Rou, and took the letter, ready to read it himself. He began to read, "Darling, tomorrow is our wedding day. I can't imagine that I'd marry you. . ." He then read another letter, "Darling, happy birthday. Although you complain that you are one year older, in my heart you will always be with the beautiful appearance and unique soul of eighteen years old. Go take a look at the bedroom.

I have prepared a birthday surprise for you." Meanwhile, watching the live stream, both Su Ziguang and Wen Xin hoped Wen Rou's exaggerated persona would be exposed. Wen Xin scoffed that Shan Liang gave so many gifts because he had no idea what Wen Rou truly wanted.

Episode 6 Recap

Shan Liang’s unexpected return home, while Wen Rou was in the middle of a livestream, initially caught her off guard. She quickly recovered and pulled him into the broadcast, showcasing their home and preparing to cook. The host encouraged Shan Liang to read a birthday letter that Wen Rou had already started reading, which mentioned a birthday surprise in the secondary bedroom.

Despite her attempts to speak on his behalf, Shan Liang eventually read a different letter, one he supposedly wrote before a business trip, containing affectionate words about missing her. In the cooking segment, they engaged in playful banter, especially over a bitter gourd. Shan Liang, with a strained smile, made some pointed remarks about her repeated deceptions and then insisted that Wen Rou drink the freshly squeezed bitter gourd juice before the stream concluded.

After the livestream, Shan Liang began packing his belongings, intending to separate from Wen Rou. He expressed his disillusionment, feeling that her repeated deceptions made him question if their love was genuine or merely a pursuit of the "Mrs. Shan" title. He likened their relationship to the "Red Dance Shoes" story, where vanity led to deceit, and he felt like the deceived grandmother. Wen Rou desperately blocked his path, preventing him from leaving for his parents' home.

Shan Liang voiced his desire for a pure, unostentatious love, feeling exhausted by the constant need to "peel back layers" with her, wondering if there was any true "heart" beneath. The livestream was a resounding success, with viewers envying Shan Liang and Wen Rou's apparent sweetness. Observing this, Zou Jing expressed her envy of Shan Liang's generosity towards Wen Rou, contrasting it with her own husband, Mo Yingchen, who had never even bought her a handbag.

Mo Yingchen, however, argued that material possessions don't equate to love. The following morning, Wen Rou prepared breakfast for Shan Liang, but he remained cold towards her. At Xunmi, Zou Jing suggested continuing the "display of affection" marketing, given its positive impact. Shan Liang, still wary of the manufactured nature of their public image, disagreed, believing it tainted Wen Rou's love for him.

To put an end to this internal marketing, he orchestrated a deceptive plan: he created the illusion that Xunmi's capital chain had broken. Wen Rou soon arrived at Xunmi to find employees seemingly in a panic, packing their belongings as if preparing to abandon ship. Upon learning of the supposed financial crisis, she rushed to Shan Liang, who feigned deep distress.

Though Shan Liang felt uneasy about deceiving his wife, Xiao Mei and Zou Jing urged him to be firm, arguing that he would be the one getting hurt if he wasn't. Wen Rou, truly believing the company was in trouble, went shopping but consciously refrained from buying anything expensive—a dress, a king crab, or even considering a luxurious villa. Back home, she began collecting her beloved makeup and designer bags, intending to sell them on Xianyu.

Shan Liang, deeply touched by her sacrifice, secretly instructed Jian Jian to purchase all the items she listed. Determined to help, Wen Rou sought financial assistance from her mother, Cui Xuelan, who, while initially critical of Wen Rou's sacrifices for Shan Liang and suggesting she return to Wanli, eventually agreed to speak to Wen Yajun on her behalf. Wen Rou, however, insisted on pursuing her own path.

Wen Rou decided to cancel the pre-sale of her "red dance shoes" and instead sell its copyright. She met with Wen Xin, who expressed interest in acquiring the design drafts but admitted she had no intention of producing them. As a designer, Wen Rou found this unacceptable, believing her creations deserved to be brought to life. She declined Wen Xin's offer and sought other buyers.

Her next meeting was with Su Ziguang, who seemed more interested in probing her relationship with Shan Liang than discussing business. Su Ziguang, despite his industry connections, hadn't heard anything about Xunmi's financial woes and found the situation suspicious, but Wen Rou, loyal to Shan Liang, dismissed his doubts. Su Ziguang mused that love often made people foolish. Later, Shan Liang encountered Su Ziguang in a restaurant restroom.

To further his facade, Shan Liang immediately took out his phone and pretended to have a loving conversation with Wen Rou, mentioning dinner she prepared and a new bag he bought her, all to project an image of a devoted husband. Back at Xunmi, Wen Rou observed the employees' overly dramatic display of panic.

After observing Xiao Mei's theatrical phone call about cheap food and speaking individually with Jian Jian and Zou Jing, she grew increasingly suspicious, confirming her feeling that something was amiss. Realizing Shan Liang was employing her own deceptive tactics, Wen Rou resolved to retaliate, noting that she was now experiencing the bitter fruit of her own past deceptions. Wen Rou transferred 500,000 yuan to Shan Liang.

When he questioned the source and discovered she had sold the copyright of her "red dance shoes" designs, this news filled Shan Liang with guilt, prompting him to decide he needed to confess the truth. However, before he could, Wen Rou abruptly called a company-wide meeting at Xunmi. She announced to the assembled staff that Xunmi was facing dire circumstances.

To spare them further hardship, she declared that they no longer needed to come to work, stating that she and Shan Liang would personally bear all the company's difficulties. The employees were left stunned and uncertain about their next steps.

Episode 7 Recap

Shan Liang excitedly told Wen Rou that Xunmi's crisis was resolved and the company's performance had improved, urging her to buy back her previously sold items. Wen Rou, aware of his deception, feigned sorrow, claiming she could replace bags but not her precious design drafts. She insisted that his happiness was all that mattered, causing Shan Liang to feel even more remorseful. Meanwhile, Mo Yingchen tried to appease a still-angry Zou Jing with a "present."

He vaguely described it as a real, normal-sized, classic item that felt comfortable. Zou Jing, anticipating a designer bag, was disappointed to find it was a new mattress. Mo Yingchen justified his choice, saying that thoughtful spending on essentials like a good mattress was a true luxury. Zou Jing accused him of buying it for his own comfort, not hers.

Wen Rou discussed her decision to sell her "Red Dance Shoes" design with Han Qing, explaining that the design's time was limited and her new "white swan" concept would surpass it. Han Qing then asked what design she would promote next. Overhearing this, Zou Jing realized Wen Rou knew about Shan Liang's fake bankruptcy. Feeling they had conspired against her, Zou Jing asked Wen Rou to teach her how to make her husband as devoted as Shan Liang.

Wen Rou readily agreed and quickly posted a photo with Mo Yingchen and Zou Jing on Weibo, praising Mo Yingchen as an ideal husband who handled all household chores. This post quickly bolstered Mo Yingchen's reputation at work. Seeing Zou Jing sweeping, a guilt-ridden Mo Yingchen immediately offered to help her and promised to buy her a bag like the one in Wen Rou's post. Zou Jing was thrilled at the immediate success of Wen Rou's advice.

Later, at a bar, Su Ziguang found Shan Liang and asked about Wen Rou. Shan Liang, unaware that Wen Rou had already suspected his deceit, proudly stated that Wen Rou disliked such places and warned Su Ziguang to stop inquiring about her, proclaiming their renewed love. He even boasted that Wen Rou had sacrificed her "Red Dance Shoes" design for Xunmi during his financial troubles as proof of her sincerity.

Su Ziguang then revealed that Xunmi had no financial issues and that he had informed Wen Rou of this days ago, causing Shan Liang to realize Wen Rou had seen through his lie and used it to manipulate him. Su Ziguang predicted Shan Liang would rationalize it away. As Su Ziguang left, Wen Xin attempted to get his contact information, but he rudely rebuffed her, accusing her of trying to pick him up.

Su Ziguang called Wen Rou, informing her of his conversation with Shan Liang. Wen Rou panicked, fearing exposure. Han Qing attempted to console her, pointing out Shan Liang's flaws, such as his poor memory, inability to discern right from wrong, and his constant lowering of standards for Wen Rou. However, Wen Rou perceived this as criticism of herself. Upon returning home, Wen Rou found Shan Liang at the piano. Anticipating his anger, she immediately apologized.

Shan Liang, however, had misinterpreted the timeline, believing Wen Rou had sold her designs "before" discovering his lie. He felt deeply guilty for his deception, given her supposed sacrifice. Wen Rou quickly played along, confirming his version of events. Overwhelmed by self-reproach, Shan Liang declared he would sleep in the guest room as punishment. Han Qing urged Wen Rou to confess before the lie escalated, but Wen Rou decided to maintain the facade and act flawlessly.

Shortly after, Mo Yingchen called Wen Rou, proposing a collaboration with Luxbuy. Wen Rou initially refused, citing her conscience. However, Mo Yingchen later contacted Shan Liang, who encouraged Wen Rou to pursue her dreams, stating his previous deception was wrong and he wanted her to do what she loved. Shan Liang insisted on buying numerous new bags to fill her wardrobe for an upcoming live stream, wanting to publicly demonstrate his love for her.

In the following days, Shan Liang was uncharacteristically supportive, helping Wen Rou with her live stream and buying new bags. During "Mrs. Shan's Cloakroom 2" live broadcast, Wen Rou displayed the new bags. Commenters, including Wen Xin and Su Ziguang, pointed out that Xunmi was wealthy and questioned how Wen Rou could afford new bags after selling her designs, implying she knew Shan Liang's bankruptcy was fake.

Reading these comments, Shan Liang finally realized Wen Rou had known about his deception all along and had deliberately acted to gain his sympathy. Distraught, Shan Liang spontaneously added a cooking segment to the live stream, leading to the familiar bitter gourd juice ritual. He then confronted Wen Rou, asking when she had learned of his lie. Wen Rou confessed she knew he was lying "before" selling her design drafts.

Shan Liang silently drank the bitter gourd juice, his disappointment clear. In the live stream comments, Su Ziguang tried to get Wen Xin's contact info, but she again rejected him. Overwhelmed by Wen Rou's repeated deceptions, Shan Liang packed his bags and prepared to leave. Wen Rou tried to stop him, but he stated he could no longer tolerate her lies, even her fake relationship test results, and moved out.

Han Qing advised Wen Rou to be honest, but Wen Rou misunderstood, resorting to seductive tactics to win him back, which Shan Liang ignored. Meanwhile, online users exposed a bag from Wen Rou's "Mrs. Shan's Day" live stream as fake, dismantling her entire "rich socialite" persona. The fake bag was actually Zou Jing's, lent to Wen Rou. Upon learning her husband, Mo Yingchen, had given her a fake bag, Zou Jing was furious and left home.

Shan Liang, aware of these developments, remained outwardly calm, claiming they had nothing to do with him. A dejected Wen Rou left, unaware that Shan Liang was secretly orchestrating events via a Bluetooth headset. Zou Jing sought out Wen Rou, and together with Han Qing, they commiserated over their husbands. Shan Liang called Wen Rou, asking why she wasn't home, but she, still angry, hung up.

Facing a public relations nightmare, Wen Rou devised a solution: a joint authentication platform between Xunmi and Luxbuy. She explained to Mo Yingchen that Zou Jing desired affection and care, not just a bag, and his superficial gifts had caused her pain, using this to argue for the business collaboration. Wen Rou clarified that while their marital issues were private, the "double inspection activity" was a "win-win cooperation."

Mo Yingchen, initially surprised by Wen Rou's decisive action for Xunmi, agreed after learning Luxbuy would bear the main responsibility, marveling at her cunning. Wen Rou then held a live stream, confessing from her humble pre-marriage apartment. She admitted to being an ordinary "Cinderella" who had packaged herself to appear successful, but realized that constantly taking shortcuts ultimately blocked genuine paths. She acknowledged her audience's anger but emphasized that authenticity, not external value, was paramount.

She then announced the "double inspection activity": Xunmi would "authenticate boyfriends' love," and Luxbuy would "authenticate bags," reiterating that while not buying a bag doesn't mean a man doesn't love you, buying a fake one definitely does. Her audience was relieved. Shan Liang, watching, understood Wen Rou's strategic maneuver to protect Xunmi while subtly pushing Luxbuy into a more vulnerable position. Mo Yingchen later picked up Zou Jing, who was staying in Wen Rou's old apartment.

Though initially hesitant, Zou Jing, softening, returned home. Mo Yingchen explained he had kept the air conditioner off, enduring the heat himself, because he knew cold air caused her headaches, revealing his genuine care. He offered to buy her a new bag, to which she was deeply touched. Mo Yingchen, ever practical, then asked if she had brought back the expensive mattress.

Episode 8 Recap

Wen Rou arrived at Xunmi, only to find Shan Liang had already left. Jian Jian, a subordinate, discreetly informed her that Shan Liang had been secretly helping her all along, even successfully arranging Polimoda's entry into Luxbuy. Jian Jian explained that Shan Liang understood Wen Rou had taken public responsibility to resolve the situation quickly.

After seeing her sincere apology in the video, he immediately met with Mr. Mo and agreed to have Xunmi cover all appraisal costs in exchange for Polimoda joining the platform. Despite appearing angry, Shan Liang's heart was still with Wen Rou. Later, Shan Liang confided in his father, admitting he was touched by Wen Rou's public apology but remained uncertain if two individuals as different as they were could truly build a life together.

His father responded by drawing an analogy to grafting plants: just as two distinct plants can merge and heal into one, so too can people. He emphasized that marriage isn't about two identical individuals, but about two people willing to compromise and adapt for each other, with the willingness to change being paramount. Shan Liang seemed to brush off his father's offer of chicken soup, indicating his mind was still preoccupied. Wen Rou returned home to find Shan Liang there.

She confronted him about his perceived coldness and for hanging up on her, but he explained he had been on a phone call with Jian Jian in his study, wearing headphones, and hadn't heard her. Wen Rou realized her misunderstanding and expressed gratitude for his help with Polimoda. She confessed that her past displays of affection were born of vanity and admitted her life had been quite difficult before meeting him, wishing those painful memories were unreal.

Shan Liang assured her he understood her deep desire for unwavering love and promised never to let her lose it. He then surprised her by presenting a collection of birthday gifts, making up for all the years from her eighteenth to twenty-fourth that she had falsely claimed he'd given her in a past live stream. He vowed to be by her side for every future birthday.

Among the gifts was a key and lock pendant, which Shan Liang explained had evolved in its meaning for him; initially symbolizing their similar souls, it now represented their commitment to understand and tolerate each other, becoming a perfect couple despite their differences. Wen Rou, deeply moved, playfully asked why he always "bowed" to her despite her repeated mistakes, to which he quipped, "Because I am taller than you."

She confirmed she wouldn't be returning to the guest room that night. Shan Liang and Wen Rou's relationship deepened, and they openly shared their affection online. During a visit to Shan Liang's father, he gifted Wen Rou a pair of platinum earrings, thoughtfully remembering her silver allergy. Wen Rou, wanting to reciprocate, offered to buy him a jade ornament, but Shan Liang's father politely declined, stating that as family, such formalities were unnecessary.

Shan Liang echoed this, urging Wen Rou to relax and treat his father as she would her own. Meanwhile, Wen Xin became increasingly convinced that Wen Rou had used a fabricated "Wanli heiress" identity to secure a connection with Shan Liang, given his preference for well-matched partners. Determined to expose her, Wen Xin plotted her next move. At Xunmi, Shan Liang discussed the company's recent decline in user registrations following a new algorithm update.

He announced plans to invest in a new technology team to develop more precise algorithms, seeking funding from Lixing Investment. He also revealed that Wen Rou had sold the "red dance shoes" design to Wanli to assist him, calling it an "irreparable loss," and tasked his team with finding a way to buy it back. Just then, Wen Xin arrived, introducing herself as Wen Rou's sister and the daughter of Wanli Group's president, Wen Yajun.

She clarified that Wen Rou was her stepmother's daughter, not a blood relative or the true heir of Wanli. Shan Liang, however, misconstrued this information, praising Wen Rou for her noble character in concealing her wealthy background out of consideration for his feelings. He warmly embraced Wen Xin as part of his family, asking about her and Wen Rou's childhood.

Later, Shan Liang consulted Jian Jian about the perceived disparity between Xunmi and Wanli and questioned the necessity of "matched for marriage." Jian Jian, using various analogies, warned of the difficulties mismatched unions often face. Shan Liang connected these examples to his own relationship with Wen Rou, still perplexed as to why she had kept her family situation a secret. Wen Rou returned home to find Shan Liang drinking in the dark. He revealed Wen Xin's visit.

Still misinterpreting Wen Rou's motives, Shan Liang expressed profound admiration, believing she intentionally concealed her affluent family background to protect his feelings and chose to build her career independently. He reaffirmed his love for her "essence." He then questioned why she had never introduced him to her family, immediately concluding it was due to the "huge disparity of the two families" and her fear of his in-laws disapproving of him. Wen Rou was left speechless.

She later called her mother, Cui Xuelan, to announce that she was bringing Shan Liang home, viewing Wen Xin's previous interaction with Shan Liang as a "challenge" she had to meet. Wen Rou clarified that Shan Liang's company was not in crisis and that her actions, including selling the design draft, were part of managing their relationship.

She implored her mother, as her own daughter, to openly support her and Shan Liang against Wen Xin during the visit, explicitly asking her to "be nice to me and Shan Liang" and "not always be on Wen Xin's side." Her mother reluctantly agreed, promising to speak highly of Shan Liang to Wen Yajun. Meanwhile, Shan Liang, still anxious about meeting Wen Rou's family and Xunmi's current low ranking, sought advice from his father.

His father, sharing his own experience of "marrying up," encouraged Shan Liang not to dwell on family status, emphasizing that the success of a marriage rests solely on the couple. He advised Shan Liang that showing his love for Wen Rou was key to gaining her parents' acceptance, which relieved Shan Liang.

Wen Rou attempted to further clarify her family's complex dynamics to Shan Liang, explaining that her biological father died when she was young, and she felt like a "giveaway" when her mother remarried. She reiterated that Wen Xin was the true Wanli heiress, not her, and urged him not to concern himself with their differing social standing.

Shan Liang, determined to view Wen Rou positively, declared her the "proprietress of Xunmi" and continued to misinterpret her strained family relationships, believing her stepfather treated her wonderfully and her arguments with Wen Xin were merely playful sisterly banter. Preparations for Shan Liang's visit were underway at the Wen household. Wen Yajun presented both Wen Rou and Wen Xin with handmade silver earrings as gifts.

Wen Rou, sensitive to silver, felt her face stiffen, and quickly excused herself to the bathroom to remove them, discreetly covering her ears with her hair to hide the allergic reaction from Shan Liang. Meanwhile, Cui Xuelan, attempting to be hospitable, inquired about Shan Liang's food preferences from Wen Rou, who mentioned his dislikes included mutton, bitter gourd, and pig's brain.

Wen Xin, overhearing, subtly offered to relay these instructions to Aunt Zhang, hinting at her intent to interfere with the meal preparations. Shan Liang, eager to make a good impression, meticulously tried on several outfits, but Wen Rou reassured him to dress casually, emphasizing he was visiting his "own home." Separately, Han Qing attended a class reunion. As she left, a stranger harassed her, but her old classmate, Zhong Yu, intervened.

Han Qing, delighted to see him after two years, learned he was now a makeup artist. She excitedly told him about her handmade shoe brand with Wen Rou, feeling their professions aligned. They shared a late-night meal, and Han Qing, enthusiastically, exchanged WeChat information with him. Upon Shan Liang's arrival at the Wen residence, he mistakenly entered Wen Xin's room, believing it to be Wen Rou's.

He enthusiastically praised its cozy decor, extensive book collection, and artistic drawings, even suggesting taking one for their home. Wen Rou awkwardly tried to correct him, but Shan Liang persisted. Eventually, he noticed an "odd smell" in the room and, expressing his dislike, suggested they visit "her" actual room. Wen Rou then led him to her real bedroom, which was a sunless, cluttered storage space, starkly revealing her marginalized position within the family.

She explained that after her marriage, she had told her parents they were free to use her room as they wished. At dinner, Cui Xuelan, still trying to be welcoming, proudly informed Shan Liang that Wen Yajun had specifically inquired about his food preferences. However, Aunt Zhang then served "Stir-fried mutton," a dish Wen Rou had explicitly mentioned Shan Liang disliked, confirming Wen Xin's subtle sabotage.

Episode 9 Recap

Shan Liang received a warm welcome from Wen Rou’s mother, Cui Xuelan, who mentioned that Wen Yajun, Wen Rou’s father, was particularly happy about his visit and had inquired about his food preferences.

However, when the dishes arrived – stir-fried mutton, fried bitter gourd, and pig brain soup – Shan Liang skillfully redirected them to other family members, noting that Cui Xuelan needed mutton for her qi and blood, Wen Yajun needed bitter gourd to reduce his internal heat, and Wen Xin needed pig brain soup for her work stress.

Cui Xuelan awkwardly admitted to having mixed up Shan Liang’s likes and dislikes, a mistake that the plot summary confirms was Wen Xin’s deliberate mischief. Wen Rou, noticing the tension, quickly shifted the conversation by showing Wen Yajun her latest designs for her brand, Polimoda. Wen Yajun praised the designs but mispronounced the brand name, which Shan Liang gently corrected.

Cui Xuelan then suggested Wen Rou return to Wanli, praising her design for red dance shoes and saying she could help with management. Wen Rou declined, stating her passion lay in design and that her father didn’t need her help with design as Wen Xin was already the design director. Shan Liang supported Wen Rou, emphasizing her admirable independence and dedication to her dreams, which he stated was a reason he loved her.

Later, Shan Liang expressed concern to Wen Rou that her family seemed unhappy. Wen Rou revealed that Wen Xin doesn't eat pig brains, her mother avoids mutton, and even the bitter gourd that her father usually likes was intentionally made too bitter. She assured Shan Liang that her family wouldn't blame him. Reflecting on Shan Liang's actions, Wen Rou considered it "preference" rather than just "love," and how good it felt to be prioritized.

She fondly described Shan Liang's boldness in correcting her father's pronunciation of her brand and giving her the last piece of rib, which usually went to Wen Xin. She confided to a friend that Wen Xin has always been competitive with her, and she wondered what else Wen Xin would try to take from her.

Meanwhile, Cui Xuelan praised Shan Liang to Wen Yajun, describing him as humble and high-EQ, while Wen Xin retorted that he was merely "affectatious" and "mindless." Cui Xuelan urged Wen Xin to find a boyfriend, prompting Wen Xin to declare she wanted someone just like Shan Liang. Shan Liang, discussing the difficult family dinner with his colleagues Jian Jian, Xiao Mei, and Zou Jing, worried about having offended Wen Rou’s family.

They jokingly suggested having a baby or finding out the family's "needs" to "hit precisely," sparking an idea in Shan Liang. Shan Liang later told Wen Rou he had invited her father to visit that weekend. Wen Rou was hesitant, feeling it was inappropriate to return so soon after the previous day’s contentious dinner where Shan Liang had, in her view, "provoked" her family.

Separately, Han Qing questioned Zhong Yu about his job as a makeup artist, as he often talked about her work but never his own. Zhong Yu stated he preferred to keep work and life separate, skillfully deflecting her questions. The weekend arrived, but Wen Yajun did not appear. Wen Xin subtly mocked Wen Rou, suggesting her father was avoiding Shan Liang. Shan Liang, determined to win over the family, remained cheerful.

He invited Wen Xin to help him in the kitchen and inquired about her dating life, to which she claimed she had never been in love. Wen Rou, who had been eavesdropping, rushed in when Wen Xin reached to wipe Shan Liang’s forehead, taking a knife and warning Wen Xin not to pursue her husband. Wen Xin implied she was ready for a fight. During dinner, the two sisters continued their passive-aggressive rivalry.

Shan Liang, unaware of Wen Rou's underlying intentions, praised Wen Xin for her professional achievements as Wanli's design director, her charitable endeavors, and her sisterly bond with Wen Rou, despite them not being biological sisters. He then revealed his true purpose for the visit: to set Wen Xin up on a blind date. He presented her with profiles for a company matchmaking event and encouraged her to participate. Wen Rou was initially relieved, praising Shan Liang for his clever idea.

However, her mood soured when she saw Wen Xin’s ideal partner criteria – a detailed description that precisely matched Shan Liang, from his age and height to his profession and personality, with "kind" even written three times. Shan Liang, noticing Wen Rou's anger, humorously tried to deny the resemblance, exaggerating his own flaws. Wen Rou dressed glamorously to accompany Shan Liang to the blind date event, ostensibly to help Wen Xin.

Her striking appearance garnered significant attention, prompting Shan Liang to assert his claim by holding her hand and reminding her to keep her wedding ring visible. Once Wen Xin arrived, Wen Rou sent Shan Liang away, announcing her intention to guide her sister.

Wen Rou offered Wen Xin "advice" on modifying her dating criteria, subtly steering her towards a specific type of man by reframing her preferences, such as replacing a hardworking internet professional with a "boss" who has more free time, or a "kind" man with one who is "simple and pure" to avoid complex emotional games. Wen Rou then dramatically "discovered" Su Ziguang at the event, initiating a staged conversation to pique Wen Xin's competitive interest.

Wen Xin, falling for the bait, questioned their past relationship. Both Wen Rou and Su Ziguang spoke ambiguously, creating the impression of a tragic past romance that couldn't ultimately be. Wen Xin later approached Su Ziguang, proudly introducing herself as Wen Yajun's "genuine heiress," subtly contrasting herself with Wen Rou whom she disparagingly called "gilded."

Upon learning that Wen Rou was actually Wen Xin's sister, Su Ziguang rushed to Wen Rou, convinced she had been testing him and still harbored feelings for him. Despite Wen Rou's exasperated attempts to clarify that there was no "relationship" to "let go of" and that her earlier comments were a "misunderstanding," Su Ziguang remained convinced, interpreting her denials as "fickle" and "stubborn" feminine behavior. He even expressed pity for Shan Liang, believing Wen Rou was unknowingly hurting him.

Wen Rou, resigned, urged him to pursue Wen Xin, to "forget me," and "be nice to Shan Liang." Later, Xiao Mei tried to inform Shan Liang about Wen Rou and Su Ziguang's conversation, but Jian Jian stopped her, warning against meddling in the complicated and unpredictable affairs of their superiors and advising her to "leave well enough alone."

Wen Rou then found Jian Jian and Xiao Mei, handing them Su Ziguang's profile and instructing them to praise him "360 degrees without dead ends" to Wen Xin, ensuring the two were matched. Jian Jian and Xiao Mei were bewildered by this development. Wen Xin and Su Ziguang met for a game of badminton. Wen Xin, curious, asked why a man of his standing would resort to a blind date.

Su Ziguang explained he initially found it boring, then amusing, but ultimately saw it as a straightforward way to meet people without hidden agendas, stating his dislike for "fake things." Wen Xin then received a text from Wen Rou, bragging about Shan Liang cooking a large meal as a reward for her "hard work" at the blind date. Immediately, Wen Xin proposed to Su Ziguang, declaring him her boyfriend and announcing they would "show off."

They went to a restaurant where Wen Xin ordered an excessive amount of food. When Su Ziguang questioned the waste, Wen Xin prompted him to take a photo with her and then posted it on social media, embellishing his generosity.

In the following days, Wen Xin continued her extravagant displays of affection on social media, even orchestrating a scene where she made Su Ziguang search for a non-existent hairpin, supposedly a precious gift from her father, while she secretly took photos of him kneeling. She also gave him a "birthday gift" she no longer wanted, reminding him of his upcoming double date with Wen Rou and Shan Liang. The two couples went on a double date for a barbecue.

Su Ziguang, still operating under the delusion that Wen Rou secretly pined for him, pitied Shan Liang. Wen Xin, meanwhile, smugly noted Shan Liang's "idle" appearance, implying his business was failing, and boasted about Su Ziguang being her "ideal type." During the barbecue, a sudden flare-up caused Su Ziguang to instinctively pull Wen Rou into his arms, while Shan Liang simultaneously pulled Wen Xin away from the flames. This incident sparked arguments between both couples.

Wen Xin confronted Su Ziguang, accusing him of still having feelings for Wen Rou. He denied it, explaining he was merely closest to her. Shan Liang interjected, interpreting Su Ziguang's action as a subconscious sign of lingering affection and an attempt to use Wen Xin to get closer to Wen Rou. Wen Rou defended Su Ziguang, insisting he was Wen Xin's boyfriend and Shan Liang was overthinking.

Su Ziguang then conceded to having "regrets" with Wen Rou, blaming himself for not believing her in the past. He spun this into a narrative where Wen Rou still loved him but was "revising her memories" due to her marriage to Shan Liang, and he vowed to make her "give up" on him. Wen Xin, seemingly satisfied, accepted his explanation, but physically recoiled from his attempt at affection, calling him "crazy."

Later, Shan Liang confronted Wen Rou, accusing her of hiding something and "inviting danger" by setting up Wen Xin with Su Ziguang. Wen Rou explained that the situation was "complicated." When Shan Liang pressed her, she finally revealed that their parents were worried about Wen Xin's marriage, and knowing Wen Xin's competitive nature and habit of "snatching" her things, she had deliberately pretended to like Su Ziguang to make Wen Xin interested in him.

She concluded by saying this "complicated logic" was probably beyond his understanding. To her surprise, Shan Liang comprehended her elaborate plan and praised her "well-intentioned efforts," believing she was selflessly acting for her sister's happiness. He predicted that if Wen Xin ever discovered the truth, she would be "very touched." Unbeknownst to them, Wen Xin was eavesdropping outside the door, her face a mask of furious realization.

Episode 10 Recap

Upon returning home, Wen Xin promptly ended her relationship with Su Ziguang, stating, "Let's break up." Su Ziguang tried to clarify that they were "never together," but Wen Xin shrugged it off, saying, "It doesn't matter anyway." Soon after, Wen Xin blocked Su Ziguang on social media. Unbeknownst to them, they continued to chat online with anonymous accounts. Wen Xin, under the alias "Pink Big-eyed Spider," vented about "men who are sensitive to reputation, indecent and very childish."

Su Ziguang, as "Golden Assistant," advised staying away from such men and then complained about meeting "an unruly and willful young lady," wondering "what kind of man would like to be with her." "Pink Big-eyed Spider" replied, "I feel sorry for you." Meanwhile, Wen Yajun tried to influence Wen Xin's choices, telling her that Su Ziguang was a "nice young man" and "good for marriage."

Despite Wen Xin's protests that she didn't like him, Wen Yajun dismissed her feelings, stating, "It doesn't matter. You don't like him now, but you will like him someday," comparing it to her dislike of nutritious pork liver, implying it was for her own good. Wen Rou and Han Qing celebrated the Polimoda's "White Dance Shoe" pre-sale breaking records, only to discover that Wanli had also advanced its pre-sale of an identical shoe.

Han Qing initially tried to comfort Wen Rou by comparing sales percentages, but Wen Rou quickly realized Wanli's shoe was "exactly the same as yours." Convinced that Wen Xin had copied her design, Wen Rou declared she would rush to the factory to ensure her shoes were produced first to prove her originality. However, upon arrival, the factory manager informed her that "all goose feathers from the raw material factory were bought out by Wanli," including duck and chicken feathers.

Wen Rou understood Wen Xin was deliberately sabotaging her. When Han Qing asked how Wen Xin had seen the design, Wen Rou explained that "everyone in the family saw it" when she brought the design home. She expressed despair, stating that her parents, Wen Yajun and Cui Xue Lan, would "not take my side," as "it's not the first time things like this happen."

Shan Liang's assistant informed him about the Weibo uproar concerning Polimoda's alleged plagiarism by Wanli, noting that Wen Xin was listed as the designer. Shan Liang consulted with a lawyer who suggested a settlement and an apology from Wen Xin, but also mentioned that proving Wen Rou's earlier creation time would be crucial. Shan Liang declared he had an idea.

Back at the Wen residence, Wen Xin confronted Wen Yajun, asserting that Wen Rou "tricked me first" with Su Ziguang, and claiming Wen Rou had asked Xunmi to set her up with him. She insisted Wen Rou "must pay for what she has done." Wen Rou then stormed in, demanding if Wen Xin was responsible for the copied design.

Wen Xin defiantly admitted, "Yes, I did it," confirming she bought out the raw materials as "repayment" for Wen Rou's perceived trickery. Wen Rou reminded Wen Xin of how she "always gave in to you, take all the blame for you" as a child, questioning if Wen Xin truly believed she had no temper. Wen Rou then directly asked Wen Yajun if he would still "defend her" given he saw her design draft.

Wen Yajun brought up the Su Ziguang incident and proposed a "solution": both sisters had made mistakes, so they should "pull your new shoes off the shelf, and this is over." Wen Rou vehemently disagreed. Cui Xue Lan tried to persuade her to compromise, but Wen Rou lashed out, accusing her mother of consistently tolerating Wen Xin and sacrificing her to "fit into this family," living "without any self-esteem."

Wen Rou recalled how Cui Xue Lan had given her painting to Wen Xin and lied to her teacher. She also confronted her mother, stating that Cui Xue Lan knew the truth about the childhood water-pouring incident but remained silent. Wen Rou declared that even though she wasn't Wen Yajun's biological child, everyone now knew Wen Xin was the plagiarist, yet they were still trying to persuade her to drop the matter.

Ignoring Wen Rou's pleas, Wen Yajun declared the copied shoe would be a major new product for Wanli, ordering its immediate mass production. Shan Liang arrived, trying to calm Wen Rou and suggest communication. However, Wen Rou, overwhelmed, expressed her long-standing grievances, feeling like "the extra one" in the family, her father always favoring Wen Xin, and her mother passively tolerating injustice. She then looked at Shan Liang, tearfully saying, "Then I met you.

I thought I could get your favor, just like Wen Xin got my parents'. Looks like I was wrong," before storming out, declaring she didn't want to stay for another second. Wen Rou told Shan Liang to stop following her, saying she needed time to be alone and assuring him she wouldn't "do silly things." Later, Wen Xin confronted Wen Yajun about Wen Rou's accusation regarding the water-pouring incident.

Wen Yajun admitted he knew Wen Xin was responsible but explained he kept silent because Wen Xin "cares about it" and he believed "with that shame, you will work harder to defeat Wen Rou." Wen Xin questioned if that was the "only reason," but Wen Yajun dismissed her, saying he was busy. Unable to reach Wen Rou, Shan Liang called Han Qing, who jokingly suggested a divorce but then empathized with Wen Rou's situation.

Han Qing explained Wen Rou's deep sensitivity, recounting how Cui Xue Lan forced Wen Rou to call Wen Yajun "dad" while Wen Xin continued to call her "auntie." She further detailed Wen Yajun's consistent favoritism towards Wen Xin and how Wen Rou was sent to a boarding school for a minor mistake, leaving her with "no one to rely on."

Han Qing reiterated Wen Rou's earlier sentiment about Shan Liang being her primary support and how his words hurt her deeply. Shan Liang acknowledged his mistake, and Han Qing then informed him that Wen Rou was at his father's farmhouse. At the gym, Wen Xin was intensely working out when Su Ziguang approached her, offering to help with stretching to prevent injury. Wen Xin, initially dismissive, eventually accepted his help.

Su Ziguang noticed her distress and asked why she was training so hard. She confided, "Something happened," clarifying, "It's not about me. It's Wen Rou." Su Ziguang was surprised and asked, "What's going on?" Realizing he was out of the loop, Wen Xin told him to "check the news." Shan Liang arrived at his father's farmhouse, where his father was proudly tending to a white goose he had raised for two months.

Wen Rou, observing the goose's "pure natural" feathers, found new inspiration for her shoe design. Shan Liang's father mentioned Wen Xin's plagiarism and monopoly on raw materials. Wen Rou expressed her desire to at least create a single finished product of her design. Shan Liang watched her work, then spoke to his father, asking him to let Wen Rou stay and take good care of her, providing a list of her preferences via WeChat.

His father, noticing goose feathers on Shan Liang, remarked about his care for Wen Rou. Shan Liang then gave his father Wen Rou's pillow, explaining she "can't sleep without this," and asked him to give it to her. Later, Shan Liang's father presented the pillow to Wen Rou, joking that it was from a "bad guy" who thought she couldn't sleep without it. Wen Rou initially feigned indifference but held onto the pillow as she worked.

Seeing her finished shoe, Wen Rou admitted to her father that her anger was mostly directed at herself for being so sensitive and insecure about her family issues, especially when Shan Liang became involved. Her father reassured her about Shan Liang's reliability and suggested that what she perceived "may not be the way you saw it." Shan Liang's assistant informed him that the work registration certificate for Wen Rou's shoe was being delivered that afternoon.

Shan Liang had previously arranged to secure Lixing Group's investment by offering a tutor for President Sun's daughter, rather than generic gifts. Shan Liang met President Sun, who was coincidentally with Wen Yajun. Wen Yajun introduced Shan Liang as his "son-in-law." Shan Liang emphasized that he wanted their partnership to be based on Xunmi's potential, not personal ties. Later, Shan Liang's assistant asked about Wen Rou's plagiarism case.

Shan Liang stated they would proceed and explained that he hadn't told Wen Rou his full plan to spare her potential disappointment if it failed. He chose her anger over her sadness. Shan Liang instructed his assistant to go to Wen Yajun's house before Wanli's celebration party that evening. At Wen Yajun's house, Shan Liang presented the "Work Registration Certificate" for the Feather Shoe, explicitly listing Wen Rou as the author.

He revealed that he registered the copyright for all of Wen Rou's designs the day after she completed them. Shan Liang declared his intention "to get back what belongs to Wen Rou." Wen Yajun angrily called him an "outsider," but Shan Liang retorted that in his and Wen Rou's family, Wen Yajun was the "outsider." Wen Yajun tried to justify his bias by saying it was difficult to be impartial between his biological daughter and stepdaughter.

Shan Liang countered, stating that their only similarity was having a favored person, but unlike Wen Yajun who used wealth to solve problems, he used his heart. He asserted that Wen Rou never wanted money, but love and care.

Shan Liang then laid out three conditions: first, Wanli's official Weibo must change the designer of the Feather Shoe to Wen Rou; second, the copyright for the Red Dance Shoe must be returned to Wen Rou; and third, Wen Yajun must stop buying silver products for Wen Rou, as she is allergic. As Shan Liang prepared to leave, he added one more crucial detail: "Wen Rou did pour water on others. But she didn't mean to bully anyone.

She did it to save me." Shortly after, Wen Rou received a call from Han Qing, who excitedly told her to check Wanli's official Weibo, where her name was now listed as the designer of the Feather Shoe.

Han Qing proudly claimed credit, detailing how she had told Shan Liang "a lot about your past," including how her father was partial, her suffering at home, being sent to boarding school after a small mistake, and how the water-pouring incident was "the reason for your misfortune," all to inspire Shan Liang's "desire to protect you." Horrified, Wen Rou exclaimed, "Stop! You made a big trouble!" She realized that Wen Xin, already furious, would now be even more enraged if she discovered Shan Liang was the boy Wen Rou protected, leading to a complete disaster.

Episode 11 Recap

Shan Liang found Wen Rou and, before she could confess what was on her mind, embraced her. He revealed that he had resolved the copyright issue by using the copyright certificate he registered for her to reclaim her designer signature and the copyright for her red dance shoes. Shan Liang also disclosed that he told Wen Yajun the truth about Wen Rou pouring water to save him years ago.

Relieved that no one else had heard this, Wen Rou playfully chided Shan Liang for acting behind her back, though she also expressed guilt over the method. Shan Liang, however, firmly stated his beloved was worth all his efforts. He acknowledged that it was hard for her to go against her conscience but thanked her for doing so, reassuring her that she was inherently kind and loving.

Later, Shan Liang's father unexpectedly arrived at their home, bringing Wen Rou's favorite pillow, without which she couldn't sleep, and ingredients for a hotpot. The three of them enjoyed a joyful hotpot meal together. Soon after, Shan Liang's father and Wen Yajun formally met. They exchanged pleasantries, each complimenting the other's child, though Shan Liang's father spoke with more genuine warmth than Wen Yajun.

Shan Liang's father boasted about how much Shan Liang doted on his wife and brought up the awkward incident where Wen Rou had an allergic reaction to Shan Liang's mother's silver earrings. To lighten the mood, he inquired about Wen Xin's boyfriend, only for Shan Liang to reveal she had broken up with him, making the conversation even more uncomfortable. Shan Liang's father then mentioned his small animals, and Cui Xuelan commented on Wen Xin's fondness for them.

However, Shan Liang's father quickly interjected, explaining that the family goose had sacrificed many feathers for Wen Rou's high-heeled shoe design, making the animal area unsuitable for visitors. He also mentioned Wen Rou's weekly visits to his villa to garden and cook. Wen Xin overheard Wen Rou bringing a stack of takeout boxes to the kitchen and stormed over to Shan Liang to expose Wen Rou's inability to cook.

To her surprise, Shan Liang was already aware of this fact, revealing that he was the one who cooked most meals at home, and he had even ordered the takeout himself. Shan Liang advised Wen Xin not to constantly target Wen Rou, reminding her that they were sisters. Unwilling to give up, Wen Xin called Shan Liang's father to expose Wen Rou's "secret."

Wen Rou immediately confessed, but instead of being angry, Shan Liang's father offered to teach her how to cook. Later, Shan Liang was taking photos of Wen Rou in a lavender field when Wen Xin approached them. Wen Xin confronted Shan Liang, asserting that she, not Wen Rou, was the one who saved him from being splashed with water eighteen years ago, implying that Wen Rou's kindness was merely an act.

Shan Liang, however, remained unwavering in his trust, taking Wen Rou's hand and confidently dismissing Wen Xin's claims. He stated that he would always believe his wife over Wen Xin and sarcastically remarked that Wen Xin and Su Ziguang were a perfect match. Feeling dejected, Wen Xin sought out Su Ziguang, expressing her confusion as to why both he and Shan Liang were so devoted to Wen Rou.

Su Ziguang quickly clarified that he was not "head over heels" for Wen Rou but merely felt a sense of debt toward her, adding that his romantic feelings were long gone. He explained that he met Wen Rou three years prior at a design competition he sponsored, which happened to be the first time Wen Rou had ever won against Wen Xin.

He admitted to being initially impressed by her online persona, which depicted her as beautiful, talented in piano, horse riding, and golf, and having a good sense of style, all suggesting a wealthy background. However, he soon discovered that many of these claims were exaggerated; she could only play one piano piece, and her shoe designs had never been mass-produced. The one seemingly "fake" detail that turned out to be true was her father owning a large shoe factory.

Wen Xin questioned why Shan Liang couldn't see through Wen Rou's facade as he could. Su Ziguang explained that Wen Rou had been honest with him about her embellishments but chose to keep Shan Liang in the dark, theorizing that Shan Liang, being genuinely naive, made their relationship work. That evening, Wen Xin arrived at Shan Liang and Wen Rou's house with gifts, claiming to apologize and wishing for peaceful coexistence between the sisters.

Observing a piano, Wen Xin, knowing Wen Rou's limited skills, suggested a duet. Wen Rou played one piece, but when Wen Xin asked for another, Wen Rou admitted she didn't know how. Wen Xin feigned surprise, revealing Wen Rou's secret. Shan Liang, however, found Wen Rou's honesty endearing, commenting on how "cute" she was and that one song was enough since they weren't professionals. He even admired her appearance while playing and asked to post a video of it.

Wen Xin silently acknowledged Shan Liang's profound love for Wen Rou. Later, Wen Xin tried to trip Wen Rou up with astronomy facts, asking about the number of moons Mars has. Wen Rou incorrectly listed four, but Shan Liang playfully covered for her, suggesting some moons might simply be undiscovered. Shan Liang then philosophized that some people, like distant stars, appear brilliant but are rough and dusty upon closer inspection.

Wen Xin's attempts to create discord continued, but Shan Liang remained devoted. As Wen Xin tried to get Wen Rou to eat unwashed fruit, Shan Liang stepped in to clean it. Wen Xin then mentioned her conversation with Su Ziguang, revealing that he had sponsored the competition Wen Rou won and suggesting a biased connection.

Shan Liang calmly countered that Su Ziguang was likely drawn to Wen Rou because of her victory, and if Wen Xin preferred to interpret it otherwise, she could. Wen Xin then dramatically asked if eating unwashed fruit would make her "sleep forever like Snow White," to which Wen Rou simply challenged her to try.

That night, Wen Rou reflected on Shan Liang's unwavering belief in her goodness, feeling immense happiness and realizing her happiness stemmed from his presence in her life. Meanwhile, at Shan Liang's company, a discussion arose about improving user satisfaction by developing objective algorithms and accurate client labels, moving beyond self-reported, often exaggerated, user data. Shan Liang assured his team that funding wouldn't be an issue, but they needed to find the right technology partner.

Wen Rou, engrossed in her phone while walking, excitedly informed Shan Liang that Liu Meng, a top-three international supermodel, had returned to the country. Although she didn't know Liu Meng personally, Wen Rou saw an opportunity. Knowing Liu Meng currently lacked a shoe endorsement in China, Wen Rou declared her determination to have Liu Meng wear Polimoda shoes, believing nothing was impossible.

Concurrently, Wen Yajun tasked Wen Xin with finding a celebrity endorser to boost Wanli's exposure among young people, suggesting Liu Meng as a suitable candidate for her street style debut. Wen Rou executed her plan: she "accidentally" spilled coffee on Liu Meng's shoes at the hotel entrance and offered a pair of Polimoda shoes as a replacement. Liu Meng, impressed by the design, agreed to wear them for her street photography.

Upon seeing photos of Liu Meng in Polimoda shoes, Wen Xin immediately informed Shan Liang, sending him commissioned pictures of Wen Rou spilling coffee, accusing her of hypocrisy. Shan Liang, upon receiving Wen Xin's message with the photos, dismissed her claims, noting that the sunglasses in the pictures were not Wen Rou's style. He then told Wen Xin (presumably via text or call) to stop her "nonsense." When Wen Rou arrived with afternoon tea, Shan Liang confronted her.

Wen Rou admitted her actions were a misguided attempt to get her work noticed. Shan Liang acknowledged her ambition but emphasized ethical means. Wen Rou promised to compete fairly in the future, and Shan Liang seemingly forgave her. Later, Wen Xin met Liu Meng's stylist. The stylist apologized for the coffee incident, and Wen Xin subtly implied that unforeseen circumstances sometimes derail even the best-laid plans.

She then informed the stylist that her sister, Wen Rou, was also a shoe designer and asked if she could submit a design for an upcoming fashion event where Liu Meng would need a special pair of shoes. The stylist agreed but stressed that Liu Meng could only choose one pair, and many brands would be competing.

Separately, Wen Rou also met with Liu Meng's stylist, who conveyed Liu Meng's satisfaction with Polimoda shoes and inquired if Polimoda could design a custom "mermaid style" shoe to complement a haute couture gown for the upcoming event. Wen Rou eagerly accepted, understanding the intense competition involved. Seeking inspiration, Wen Rou visited an aquarium with her assistant, who reminded her of the six brands vying for the opportunity.

Wen Rou, however, was resolute in winning this time, expressing her determination to defeat Wen Xin fair and square after past attempts by Wen Xin to tarnish her reputation. Later, as Wen Rou finished a live stream promoting earrings, Shan Liang returned home. He playfully asked her why she always played the same piano piece. Wen Rou smiled, replying that it was her favorite, "just like you." She then asked if he truly liked the earrings she had promoted.

Episode 12 Recap

Cui Xuelan, holding her pet dog, visited Wen Rou, inquiring if she and Wen Xin were both designing shoes for Ms. Liu Meng. Cui Xuelan strongly encouraged Wen Rou to seize this opportunity to directly compete with Wen Xin, believing it would earn her recognition and respect from Wen Yajun. Wen Rou, however, dismissed her mother's concerns, stating that Cui Xuelan was merely worried about her own standing, a reputation Wen Rou felt she couldn't provide through such a contest.

Cui Xuelan persisted, using the adage "know yourself and your enemy" and even offered to discreetly gather information on Wen Xin's designs. Wen Rou adamantly refused any unethical assistance, affirming her confidence in winning purely on the merit of her own design. Undeterred by Wen Rou's refusal, Cui Xuelan later brought dessert and cubilose to Wen Xin's workplace, using the visit as an opportunity to secretly observe Wen Xin's design drafts.

When Wen Rou received a phone call from her mother describing Wen Xin's work, she firmly warned her not to interfere. Wen Rou confided in Shan Liang that she was unsatisfied with her current design for Liu Meng and lacked inspiration. Shan Liang comforted her, advising her not to put excessive pressure on herself. Annoyed by her mother's persistent calls, Wen Rou blocked Cui Xuelan's number.

Later, Cui Xuelan returned to Wen Xin's office with fruit and, while Wen Xin was washing her hands, quickly photographed her design draft. Cui Xuelan arranged a meeting with Shan Liang at the train station where she had sent a young Wen Rou to boarding school years ago. She expressed her regret over that difficult decision and her subsequent unhappiness within the Wen family, acknowledging that her marriage to Wen Yajun was perhaps too pragmatic.

She voiced her hope that with Shan Liang's support, Wen Rou would not face similar hardships, urging him to help Wen Rou win the design competition against Wen Xin, especially given Wen Yajun's connections with Liu Meng's stylist. She handed Shan Liang the photos of Wen Xin's design. Shan Liang, however, strongly upheld Wen Rou's integrity, stating that she would never resort to dishonest tactics and would rather lose than compromise her principles, thus refusing to use the photos.

Soon after, Wen Xin discovered that Wen Rou's latest design draft bore a striking resemblance to her own. She immediately suspected Cui Xuelan had leaked her designs to Wen Rou, confronting Shan Liang with the evidence and highlighting Cui Xuelan's frequent visits to her workspace. Shan Liang vehemently denied any wrongdoing, explaining that he had rejected Cui Xuelan's offer of the design photos and emphasizing Wen Rou's dedication to originality.

Wen Rou, disheartened by the unfortunate coincidence, admitted that her design felt "uncomfortable" now that it so closely resembled Wen Xin's. She resolved to completely redraw her design, refusing to submit anything that could be perceived as a copy, despite Shan Liang's unwavering support and assurance that he believed in her. With Qixi Festival approaching, Shan Liang considered various gift options for Wen Rou. Dismissing conventional choices, he developed a unique idea.

He took Wen Rou to a secluded location and revealed his gift: a star, designated T890, which he had named "Wen Rou," likening its brilliant sparkle to her own radiant spirit. Wen Rou was deeply moved, calling it her most precious gift, and reciprocated with a heartfelt kiss, playfully implying her own gift was "under the mat." In his professional capacity, Shan Liang tasked his assistant, Jian Jian, with finding a suitable tech company to develop a new algorithm.

Jian Jian recommended Yishu Technology, highlighting its exceptional algorithm engineers. However, he also revealed that the company had recently been acquired by Huixin Investment, owned by Su Ziguang, raising concerns about potential cooperation issues due to their strained past. Shan Liang, determined to proceed, instructed Jian Jian to gather comprehensive information on Yishu Technology, its partners, competitors, and Huixin's investment details, aiming to find leverage that would compel Su Ziguang to agree.

Shan Liang later met Su Ziguang, who was also a sponsor for the Liu Meng event. Su Ziguang initially assumed Shan Liang was there to discuss sponsorship for the Liu Meng event. Shan Liang corrected him, stating his true intention was to acquire Yishu Technology. He then demonstrated his thorough research, revealing that Su Ziguang had rescued Yishu Technology during a crisis but had since encountered management and equity problems, effectively turning the company into a "hot potato."

Shan Liang offered the market price, presenting it as a fair offer, and urged Su Ziguang to consider the opportunity, to which Su Ziguang eventually agreed to a further discussion. Wen Rou, feeling creatively drained, struggled to find inspiration for her new shoe design. To help her, Shan Liang decided to take her on an impromptu trip, instructing Jian Jian to book a romantic bed and breakfast and arrange a special dinner.

Jian Jian meticulously decorated the room and enlisted Xiao Mei's help. Upon seeing the elaborate romantic setup, Xiao Mei mistakenly believed it was intended for her. On their way to the planned bed and breakfast, Wen Rou and Shan Liang unexpectedly came across a quaint handicraft workshop. Wen Rou was captivated by the traditional crafts and products on display, deciding they should explore it.

Shan Liang then called Jian Jian and Xiao Mei, instructing them to enjoy the pre-booked dinner and room at the bed and breakfast in their place. After indulging in a lavish, romantically themed dinner, Jian Jian and Xiao Mei discovered that all transportation back to the city had ceased, leaving them with no choice but to stay the night.

Jian Jian attempted to find alternative accommodation in the staff dorms, but the hotel staff implicitly informed him that the reserved room was available. Aware that the romantic room was initially intended for Shan Liang and Wen Rou, Jian Jian tried to alleviate any potential misunderstandings by staying up to chat with Xiao Mei in the living room. However, his awkward attempts at conversation and an accidental water spill only deepened Xiao Mei's mistaken belief in his romantic interest.

Seizing an opportune moment when Xiao Mei was momentarily distracted, Jian Jian rushed into the bedroom to quickly dismantle the heart-shaped rose decoration on the bed. Before he could finish, Xiao Mei entered, misinterpreting his frantic actions as an overly eager romantic advance. Unable to explain the escalating misunderstanding, Jian Jian fled the room. Meanwhile, Wen Yajun presented Wen Xin with a cherished, long-hidden notebook containing her mother's secret design manuscripts.

He encouraged Wen Xin to draw inspiration from them, urging her not to lose to Wen Rou in the upcoming competition. Wen Xin confidently assured him that she would not. Wen Xin later encountered Su Ziguang at a cafe, finding herself sharing a table with him as no other outdoor seating was available.

She immediately accused him of being an agent sent by Wen Rou to interfere with her, expressing her annoyance that he seemed to be siding with Wen Rou. Su Ziguang, irritated by her unfounded accusations, clarified that he was merely the event's sponsor and his involvement was purely a commercial decision, unrelated to Wen Rou.

That evening, Wen Rou received an exhilarating phone call: Ms. Liu Meng had selected both her and Wen Xin's designs for consideration and requested to try on the sample shoes the following afternoon at 3 PM at the Qilin Hotel, where she would be engaged in an outdoor photoshoot. Overwhelmed with excitement and unable to sleep, Wen Rou prepared for the momentous day.

The next morning, as she and Shan Liang arrived at the Qilin Hotel, Wen Xin deliberately took their parking space. Shan Liang, unperturbed, calmly told Wen Rou to proceed while he found another parking spot. Wen Rou, radiating confidence, declared her certainty of success. At the photoshoot, Wen Xin attempted to provoke Wen Rou, accusing her of resorting to sabotage due to a lack of self-belief. Wen Rou confidently retorted that she was merely providing inspiration for Wen Xin. Both designers then presented their sample shoes to Liu Meng, ready for her final decision.

Episode 13 Recap

Wen Rou and Wen Xin were both at the photoshoot to have their shoes tried on by Ms. Liu Meng. Just as they were about to proceed, a sudden downpour began, forcing everyone to rush indoors. Wen Rou, having designed her shoes with waterproof material, confidently gave her only waterproof bag to Wen Xin. She explained that as a shoe designer, she instinctively protected all shoes, regardless of whose they were.

Shan Liang, watching, supported her, while Wen Xin, witnessing the interaction, commented on Wen Rou's "childish" act of showing off. Due to the weather, Ms. Liu Meng’s shoot was postponed, and both sisters left their shoes with an assistant for her final decision. Wen Xin, however, suspected that Su Ziguang, being Liu Meng’s sponsor, would unfairly help Wen Rou win. Wen Rou immediately sought out Su Ziguang to clarify their past.

She told him that her previous flirtatious remarks were solely to provoke Wen Xin and that everything between them was now in the past. She wanted to sever any potential misunderstandings, emphasizing that she only loved Shan Liang and wished for their relationship to be "pure and simple" for the sake of all three of them. She asserted her intention to win based on her own merit, not his influence.

Witnessing their conversation from a distance, Wen Xin messaged Su Ziguang, reiterating her determination to win fairly. Feeling frustrated by the clear rejections, Su Ziguang promptly instructed his assistant to withdraw his sponsorship from the fashion event. Meanwhile, everyone at the office planned a surprise birthday party for Jian Jian. Xiao Mei presented him with a gift, which turned out to be a "couple ring." Jian Jian, initially unaware, was horrified when Xiao Mei later showed him her matching ring.

Panicked, he tried to request annual leave from Shan Liang to escape to his hometown, but Shan Liang firmly refused, citing company busyness and Jian Jian's exhausted leave days. Jian Jian eventually gathered the courage to explain to Xiao Mei that her previous "misunderstandings"—like a haircut, gifts, or a hotel booking—were either accidental or for business, not romantic gestures. He clarified that while he liked her as a colleague and friend, he had feelings for someone else, a university classmate.

Embarrassed, Xiao Mei offered to help him confess his feelings. At the office, an algorithm meant to match people surprisingly showed a 99% compatibility between Su Ziguang and Wen Xin, while Shan Liang and Wen Rou's match rate was a mere 23%, much to Shan Liang’s dismay. With the red carpet event day approaching, Wen Rou grew increasingly anxious as Liu Meng's decision remained unannounced. Shan Liang stayed by her side, offering constant encouragement and reassurance.

Just before the red carpet began, both Wen Rou and Wen Xin received calls, each believing Liu Meng had chosen their respective shoes. Wen Xin, still skeptical of Wen Rou’s integrity, approached Shan Liang, showing him a video of Wen Rou and Su Ziguang’s private meeting. She alleged that Su Ziguang was manipulating the results, reminding Shan Liang of his past sponsorship of Wen Rou’s previous win.

Shan Liang, however, dismissed her claims as a "one-sided story," stating his trust in Wen Rou. To Wen Rou's shock, when Liu Meng finally stepped onto the red carpet, she was wearing Wen Xin's shoes. It became clear that the event’s sponsor had been switched to Wanli, Wen Xin’s family company. Wen Xin confronted her father, Wen Yajun, about his interference. He stated that as the heir of Wanli, she could not lose to Wen Rou.

Wen Xin, however, expressed her disappointment, feeling reduced to just an heir and not wishing to win through such means. Later, Su Ziguang found Wen Xin. He confirmed he had withdrawn his investment, stressing it was never for Wen Rou. Wen Xin, still upset about her win, invited him to celebrate. As they drank, a tipsy Su Ziguang confessed his attraction to Wen Xin, finding her presence refreshing.

Wen Xin tried to leave, but Su Ziguang, insisting on being a "gentleman" and protecting her from "perverts," followed her home. Wen Rou eventually found Wen Xin and confronted her about the unfair victory. Wen Xin showed her a Weibo post by Liu Meng, who genuinely praised Polimoda, a niche brand, for its design and comfort. Wen Rou admitted she had always believed Wen Xin’s design would win on merit and had hoped she wouldn't resort to tricks.

She observed that despite her win, Wen Xin seemed unhappy. Wen Rou advised her to design from passion rather than solely for victory. In a rare moment of candid conversation, Wen Xin accused Wen Rou of taking everything from her, including her mother, since she arrived. Wen Rou acknowledged that she and her mother might have felt like "intruders" in Wen Xin's life.

Wen Xin also shared that despite her father publicly favoring her, he never truly praised her privately, always highlighting her shortcomings compared to Wen Rou. As they spoke, they touched upon who had saved Shan Liang years ago, with Wen Xin claiming it was her. Unknown to them, Shan Liang was nearby and overheard their entire conversation. Upon returning home, Shan Liang sat at the piano, visibly distressed.

He recounted how the little girl who saved him had brought light back into his life after his mother’s death, and he had always remembered her name, Wen Rou. He described his happiness at reconnecting with her later. Now, he knew the truth: it was Wen Xin who had saved him, wearing Wen Rou’s school uniform. Wen Rou reluctantly confessed that it wasn't her.

Shan Liang then exposed a string of Wen Rou’s deceptions: she had known about his fake bankruptcy before offering to help, and only confessed this now because she knew he was onto her. He angrily demanded to know what else she was hiding, feeling like a "fish" lured by her "baits" of lies.

Wen Rou, admitting to more fabricated events—like a staged fall when they first met, purchasing a bird’s egg instead of finding it, and securing good date spots through free promotions—faced Shan Liang’s fury. He accused her of treating everyone as fools and declared he wanted a divorce, scheduling a meeting at the Civil Affairs Bureau for the next morning.

The next day, Shan Liang sat in his car outside the Civil Affairs Bureau, hesitant but determined to teach Wen Rou a lesson. His assistant, Jian Jian, found him there, and Shan Liang inquired about the bureau's closing hours. Meanwhile, Wen Rou was hiding at Han Qing’s shop, frantically strategizing new ways to appease Shan Liang after her previous attempts failed. Shan Liang found her there, noting her absence from the Civil Affairs Bureau.

He subtly warned Han Qing about her unlocked shop door before leaving, stating he would wait until Wen Rou "thought things through." Undeterred, Wen Rou went to Shan Liang's father's house, bringing flowers and a "garden-style dress" for him, hoping to mend relations. Shan Liang remained cold, directing her to perform garden chores and sending her a "teaching video" instead of engaging. At dinner, Shan Liang's father attempted to mediate, emphasizing destiny and Wen Rou’s supposed past kindness.

Shan Liang, visibly uncomfortable, eventually clarified that while he felt "gratitude" for the girl who saved him, his love for Wen Rou was distinct and "pure." However, learning of her continuous deceit made him question the sincerity of her love. He felt like a fish caught by her lies and would stay with his father for a few days. Shan Liang’s father then spoke with Wen Rou, who expressed understanding for Shan Liang's anger and vowed to win him back. Suddenly, Cui Xuelan discovered that Wen Xin had run away from home.

Episode 14 Recap

Wen Xin ran away from home, much to her father Wen Yajun's annoyance. He outwardly stated she could leave if she wished, but his irritable demeanor, which extended to complaining about his wife Cui Xuelan's interaction with their dog and her tidying his study, clearly indicated his underlying frustration. All of Wen Xin's bank cards were frozen. While checking into a hotel, she encountered Su Ziguang, who happened to own the establishment.

Su Ziguang offered her his unoccupied suite, but Wen Xin proudly refused, declaring she did not wish to stay in his room. She dramatically announced her immediate departure, but Su Ziguang playfully followed her, joking about their coincidental encounters, which she dismissed as self-flattery. With no other options, Wen Xin called Wen Rou for help, stating she just needed a place to stay and some money. Wen Rou directed her to her old, small house.

Wen Xin was initially dismayed by the shabby appearance of the place, questioning if it was even livable. Wen Rou, however, dismissed her complaints, pointing out Wen Xin's current lack of alternatives and assuring her the place was comfortable despite its looks. Wen Xin then expressed concern about Wen Rou returning, to which Wen Rou confidently asserted that her happy marriage meant she would never need to move back.

Shan Liang, deeply affected by his relationship with Wen Rou, confided in Jian Jian. During a work discussion about finding true love for clients, Shan Liang pondered his own situation, questioning if a couple could stay together after the truth about who saved him was revealed, even if the lie was born of love. He inwardly wished Wen Rou would trust him more so they could continue their journey.

Later, having drunk excessively, Shan Liang was picked up by Wen Rou and Jian Jian. As they carried him home, Wen Rou expressed regret, acknowledging her mistake was causing him pain. She insisted on handling their issues herself, telling Jian Jian to go rest. Before leaving, Jian Jian urged Wen Rou to be kind to Shan Liang, praising his good nature.

Even in his drunken state, Shan Liang muttered in his sleep about Wen Rou, warning Jian Jian about her "tricks" and "thirty-six stratagems" like "feigning retreat to advance" or "creating something out of nothing" to try and win him back, asserting he wouldn't be fooled. The next morning, Wen Rou offered him honey water for his headache and his favorite bread, but Shan Liang declined, heading straight to work.

Later, when Wen Rou texted him to ask him to pick her up from the shoe factory, he again refused. That night, Wen Xin was startled by noises at the door of the small house, initially fearing a thief, but it was Wen Rou, who had returned, trying to be quiet not to wake her.

Wen Xin, asserting she arrived first, claimed the bed and told Wen Rou to sleep on the couch, but Wen Rou reminded her it was her home and insisted Wen Xin take the couch. Teary-eyed, Wen Rou confided in Wen Xin about Shan Liang's anger. Wen Xin, however, was unsympathetic, saying Wen Rou deserved it and that she would divorce her if she were Shan Liang. Wen Rou quickly stopped her from mentioning "divorce" again.

The sisters then began to blame each other for the truth coming out. Wen Xin blamed Wen Rou for lying, and Wen Rou blamed Wen Xin for revealing the truth and for an earlier incident where Wen Xin implicated Wen Rou, leading to her being sent to boarding school. Eventually, they even blamed Shan Liang for being surrounded by classmates in the first place, leading to the incident.

Wen Rou, however, took responsibility, admitting Shan Liang was genuinely angry and that she should have confessed sooner. Wen Xin then asked about a prenuptial agreement, and when Wen Rou admitted there wasn't one, Wen Xin lamented that Shan Liang would lose both his money and his wife. Wen Rou corrected her, stating she would be the one losing everything, including her plans for a new product launch.

Despite her despair, Wen Rou told Wen Xin she intended to persevere, clinging to the hope that Shan Liang would forgive her, which Wen Xin cautiously supported. Meanwhile, at the company, during a meeting about improving services, Xiao Mei proposed segmenting users and offering specialized services for divorced individuals. Shan Liang immediately pushed back, arguing against discrimination and pointing out that divorce is often a disadvantage for women in the dating market, a reality they must consider.

He then received a message from Jian Jian on his phone, which he checked after the meeting, complaining to Jian Jian about not checking his phone during the meeting. Later, Wen Rou brought afternoon tea to the office, offering Shan Liang a sweet treat she had waited in line for. He coldly refused, stating he wasn't eating sweets, and instructed his colleagues to share them.

Wen Rou followed him into his office, offering to wait quietly, but he told her even her presence was a distraction. In a desperate attempt, she pretended to feel dizzy. Shan Liang, concerned, quickly checked on her, but then saw through her act, telling her to stop pretending. Wen Rou sincerely pleaded for his forgiveness and begged him not to divorce her. Shan Liang clarified that while he hadn't initiated divorce, his refusal to divorce didn't equate to forgiveness.

Wen Rou, undeterred, resolved to continue striving for his acceptance. Wen Rou then sought out Jian Jian and Xiao Mei, hoping they would help her reconcile with Shan Liang. She offered them their favorite treats, clarifying that she and Shan Liang were merely having an argument, not divorcing, and appealed for their support, which they readily agreed to, stating that helping her was also helping themselves.

During a subsequent company meeting, a colleague mentioned that Shan Liang's current mood was impacting work. Seizing the opportunity, Jian Jian proposed a team-building event. Shan Liang initially agreed for them to go without him, but his team insisted his presence was vital for the event's morale. He eventually agreed, and they decided on a fireworks festival.

Jian Jian then contacted his old classmate, Xiao Yu, a manager at the Yihao Hotel, to book a premium fireworks-viewing room, emphasizing that cost was no object. Xiao Yu, misinterpreting his request as a romantic gesture, made several suggestive remarks about cherishing the room for the girl he truly loved, to which Jian Jian vaguely agreed.

Meanwhile, Wen Xin met with Shan Liang, who expressed his gratitude to her for saving him as a child, acknowledging her as his true rescuer. Wen Xin tried to explain Wen Rou's side, suggesting her deception was a consequence of being sent to boarding school after taking the blame for Wen Xin's actions, which damaged her trust in the world. She hoped Shan Liang could help Wen Rou rebuild that trust.

Shan Liang, however, remained emotionally distant, stating he cared about Wen Rou's lack of trust and truthfulness, not who saved him. On the evening of the Fireworks Festival, Jian Jian handed a room card to Wen Rou, believing it was for her, then left to watch the fireworks with Xiao Yu. Wen Rou went to the designated room, only to find Jian Jian opening the door for her, while Xiao Yu had mistakenly entered Shan Liang's room.

Jian Jian quickly realized he had given the wrong room cards and led a confused Xiao Yu away. Wen Rou then offered Shan Liang a solemn apology, but he responded that he was currently unable to face her and that not all apologies could be accepted before walking away. Shan Liang later received a text from his father, who was traveling and told him not to come home.

Shan Liang suspected Wen Rou had spoken to his father, but she denied it. He then booked a separate room at the hotel, specifically requesting one as far from Wen Rou's as possible. The next morning, Xiao Yu approached Shan Liang, feigning coldness and asking for his coat. Shan Liang provided it. Shortly after, Wen Rou appeared and confronted Xiao Yu, possessively stating that only she was allowed to touch Shan Liang.

Shan Liang, unperturbed, simply told Wen Rou to be mindful of where she walked. Xiao Yu, sensing the tension, wondered aloud if this was their "post-marital flirting." Later, Xiao Yu visited Jian Jian at the office, making him visibly excited. Xiao Mei immediately recognized Xiao Yu as Jian Jian's long-standing crush.

She cautioned him that Xiao Yu might be simply "using" him to get close to Shan Liang, but Jian Jian, smitten, remained hopeful, even asking Xiao Mei if he had a chance with Xiao Yu. Xiao Yu, acting as Manager Yu from Yihao Hotel, was there to discuss a potential collaboration with Xunmi. Shan Liang, after initially deflecting to his assistant, decided to meet with her himself.

He then strategically instructed Jian Jian to subtly inform Wen Rou about Manager Yu's presence, ensuring Wen Rou would believe Jian Jian was acting on his own initiative. True to form, Wen Rou swiftly arrived at the office. Inside, Xiao Yu was already flattering Shan Liang, praising his business acumen and suggesting that timing was crucial in finding love, to which Shan Liang philosophically replied that the right person would eventually appear regardless of timing. Just as their conversation continued, Wen Rou walked in.

Episode 15 Recap

Yu, an employee of Yihao Hotel, arrived at Shan Liang’s office. Wen Rou, sensing Yu's interest in Shan Liang, quickly joined them, holding afternoon tea and hugging Shan Liang to assert her claim. Yu began by sincerely proposing that Yihao Hotel and Xunmi co-organize a blind date event for mutual benefit. She acknowledged Xunmi's existing hotel partner but argued that a timely change would bring freshness to customers, emphasizing Yihao Hotel's superior environment and service.

Wen Rou countered, stating Xunmi's current partner was a century-old hotel with a long history of cooperation and corporate friendship, implying Yihao was too new. Yu argued that Yihao’s youth made it more suitable for Xunmi and Shan Liang, suggesting new attempts were beneficial. Wen Rou retorted that new attempts eventually become old and dull, and Xunmi’s long-term agreement with their current partner couldn’t be easily broken.

Yu then used a marital analogy, stating that marriage could end in divorce, let alone a business partnership, and Shan Liang, as a dating company CEO, should understand this better. Jian Jian then arrived with water, and Shan Liang promptly delegated the cooperation discussion to Jian Jian and Yu, effectively ending the confrontation between the two women. After Yu and Jian Jian left for the conference room, Wen Rou remained with Shan Liang.

When Shan Liang questioned her calm demeanor in the face of a rival, Wen Rou expressed her confidence, explaining that the best strategy was to let Yu's "green tea" tactics fail on their own. She stated that Yu only liked Shan Liang's status, while she loved him as a person, believing Shan Liang would discern Yu's true intentions. Meanwhile, Wen Xin received many automated birthday greetings from banks and insurance companies, but only Su Ziguang sent a personal message.

Her father, Wen Yajun, refused to let her come home for her birthday, believing she needed to experience the hardships of independent living after running away. Wen Xin posted on social media about spending her birthday alone in a strange house with a leaky pipe, and how only one person remembered her birthday. She privately thanked Su Ziguang. An online friend messaged her, asking if she was Wen Xin, which she denied.

Soon after, Su Ziguang called her, revealing he was her online friend "Gold Assistant," having recognized her address from a previous visit to Wen Rou’s place and her social media post. Su Ziguang immediately went to Wen Xin’s small house. Wen Xin, still proud, implicitly denied having a party with friends, then quickly recruited him to fix the leaky pipe. Despite Su Ziguang's lack of handyman skills, the leak worsened, forcing him to improvise with his shirt to plug it.

As they spent time together, Wen Xin confided that she was living there because she had quarreled with her father. Su Ziguang realized she was truly homeless on her birthday. He offered to stay and celebrate with her, and they decided to go out. During a work discussion, Han Qing noticed Wen Rou’s distraction and urged her to focus, warning she might lose both her career and husband. Wen Rou silently resolved not to give up on Shan Liang.

She called Shan Liang, fabricating a story about a problem with her hotel room and asking to stay in his room. Shan Liang saw through her pretense, revealing her attempt to use an electric fan for sound effects. Wen Rou then confessed she couldn’t sleep alone and pleaded for him to stay, but he sent Xiao Mei to accompany her instead. Later, after showering, Wen Rou went to Shan Liang’s room to borrow a hairdryer.

She remembered Shan Liang's past warning about not taking her health lightly and admitted she missed him and wanted to see him. Shan Liang dried her hair, and she feigned sleep on his bed. Su Ziguang and Wen Xin searched for a birthday cake, but all bakeries were closed. They found a small cake at a convenience store and a star-shaped candle at a nearby toy store. Su Ziguang used his phone’s flashlight to help her celebrate by the roadside.

Wen Rou then sent Wen Xin a birthday message right on time, claiming Shan Liang had asked her to, though Wen Xin knew her sister remembered. Wen Xin reflected on her past desire to always win against Wen Rou, now realizing her sister's challenges and good qualities. She felt guilty for taking an opportunity (referring to the Liu Meng incident) that could have solved Polimoda's financial issues, wishing Liu Meng had worn Wen Rou’s designed shoes back then.

Su Ziguang reassured her that Polimoda had potential and would find investors. The next day, Su Ziguang approached Wen Rou and Han Qing at their office, offering to invest in Polimoda. He stated it was a business decision based on market analysis, not personal. Wen Rou, wanting to avoid suspicion and Shan Liang’s anger, declined, citing Su Ziguang's past pursuit of her.

However, Han Qing, knowing how much Polimoda meant to Wen Rou and believing Shan Liang would be happy for her to achieve her dream, secretly signed the investment contract with Su Ziguang. Han Qing later presented the signed contract to a stunned Wen Rou, explaining her reasoning before quickly leaving. Shan Liang, learning of Su Ziguang's investment, encountered him at the hotel.

He warned Su Ziguang not to take advantage of the "little couple's fun" between him and Wen Rou, clarifying they weren’t truly fighting. Su Ziguang, however, asked about their issues. Shan Liang then moved his company meeting to the hotel, using a discussion about client gifts for Children’s Day (or other random holidays) as an excuse to summon Wen Rou to the meeting.

Meanwhile, Yu coincidentally met Su Ziguang in the elevator, exchanging flirtatious remarks and planning to meet up for a drink. Jian Jian informed Wen Rou that Shan Liang wanted to see her, also mentioning Shan Liang knew about Su Ziguang's investment. Realizing Shan Liang still cared, Wen Rou canceled her meeting with Su Ziguang and quickly prepared herself. Shan Liang, however, was indecisive about meeting her, leading Wen Rou to call Su Ziguang repeatedly, confirming and then canceling their meeting.

Frustrated by the back and forth, Su Ziguang went to Shan Liang’s meeting room. He directly told Shan Liang that he knew about Shan Liang and Wen Rou's marital "fun" and that his investment in Polimoda was partly driven by Wen Xin’s guilt toward Wen Rou, but also his own "selfish" desire to help Wen Rou with resources. He explained that his deliberate provocation was to help them resolve their issues. Shan Liang apologized for his earlier suspicions.

Later, Yu met with Jian Jian, dramatically announcing she had fallen in love. To Jian Jian’s disappointment, she revealed her new love was a cat she found near the hotel. Meanwhile, Jian Jian secretly passed Shan Liang’s schedule to Wen Rou, who declared her intention to "conquer" her husband the following day.

Episode 16 Recap

Wen Rou continued her attempts to win back Shan Liang, but her elaborate schemes proved ineffective, as Shan Liang had become impervious to her usual tactics. Wen Rou encountered setbacks everywhere, while Yu Simiao's relationships with the men she was cultivating became increasingly close. She was seen exchanging compliments with one man while texting from bed, and holding hands with another male companion during a busy outing.

Yu Simiao also brought fruit to a man in an office who was too busy to accept it but allowed her to wait. Later, she was with another man who got drunk, and she tried to charm him. Wen Xin, seeking to express gratitude, invited Su Ziguang to meet her for helping with her plumbing and celebrating her birthday.

Su Ziguang mentioned a recent meeting at Yihao Hotel where he "hit it off" with the lobby manager, Yu Simiao, and decided to hold his next shareholder meeting there. Wen Xin immediately sensed trouble.

Su Ziguang enthusiastically praised Yu Simiao as "generous, graceful and decent, very interested in investment, and very smart," recounting how Yu Simiao had cleverly deduced his status from a brief elevator encounter, precisely analyzed his needs, and convinced him to get a VIP card, all while arranging a business dinner. Wen Xin, visibly annoyed, asked directly if he was trying to make her jealous.

Su Ziguang, confident in his charm, believed even a slight reaction meant she was "immersed in" his appeal, but Wen Xin retorted that he was the one truly smitten. Yu Simiao contacted Shan Liang under the guise of discussing cooperation. When Shan Liang initially redirected her to Jian Jian, Yu Simiao shrewdly mentioned she could help Wen Rou find a venue for her upcoming fashion show. This prompted Shan Liang to agree to meet.

As they left to view a potential location, Yu Simiao showered Shan Liang with compliments, calling him "the perfect husband." Shan Liang, wishing to secretly mend things with Wen Rou after having "ignored her plight before," asked Yu Simiao not to tell Wen Rou about his involvement. Yu Simiao readily agreed, suggesting they keep it "a secret." Shortly after, Shan Liang finalized the venue contract and specifically told Han Qing not to disclose his help to Wen Rou.

However, Han Qing, feigning compliance, immediately called Wen Rou to reveal that Shan Liang had secured the venue. Upon learning of the venue, Wen Rou rushed to the restaurant where Shan Liang and Yu Simiao were dining. While Shan Liang was thanking Yu Simiao for her "help," Wen Rou interrupted, making pointed remarks about Yu Simiao's numerous "friends" and suggesting that the venue might not be as good as claimed by a merchant eager to rent it out.

Yu Simiao, feigning distress, offered to cancel the contract and absorb any penalties, but Wen Rou insisted the existing venue could be modified. Yu Simiao then subtly implied she and Shan Liang had spent considerable time together looking at various venues. Shan Liang, growing increasingly agitated, cut his steak with noticeable force. On the way home in the rain, Shan Liang, despite his lingering anger, gently carried Wen Rou on his back.

While waiting for the elevator, they overheard Yu Simiao being confronted by a man who accused her of lying about being single and leading him on. Wen Rou scoffed at Yu Simiao's "stupidity." Shan Liang, however, turned his disappointment on Wen Rou, questioning if her displays of jealousy and anger were merely an act.

He expressed frustration with her constant pretense, calling it a "state" she was perpetually in, leading her to lie repeatedly, and asked if she could ever break free from it. Determined to expose Yu Simiao, Wen Rou decided to act. She and Han Qing discussed their strategy. Han Qing described Wen Rou as a "mangosteen," black on the outside but white on the inside, which Wen Rou appreciated.

Wen Rou declared her intention to "conquer Yu" first, labeling materialistic girls like Yu Simiao as bound to "suffer sooner or later." Meanwhile, in a company meeting, Jian Jian and Xiao Mei debated locations for an upcoming blind date event. Jian Jian advocated for Yihao Hotel due to high past satisfaction, while Xiao Mei suggested a resort for its cost-effectiveness, despite inconvenient transport. Shan Liang ultimately sided with Xiao Mei, choosing the resort.

After the meeting, Xiao Mei gave Jian Jian two "kissing fish," hinting that Yu Simiao viewed him as just one of her "fish." Jian Jian, oblivious, took the fish and later gifted them to Yu Simiao, who then subtly regifted them to Shan Liang as an "apology" for the earlier conflict with Wen Rou. Seeing these "kissing fish" in Shan Liang’s office, Wen Rou messaged him, threatening to turn them into "grilled fish" if he didn't dispose of the fishbowl.

Soon after, a landslide rendered the road to the resort impassable for three days, forcing Shan Liang to instruct Jian Jian to relocate the blind date event back to Yihao Hotel. Realizing his naive role in Yu Simiao's schemes, Jian Jian finally understood Xiao Mei's hint, sadly concluding that he was merely "plankton" in Yu Simiao’s "fish pond."

Wen Rou, seeing Yu Simiao’s gifts and the shift in venue as a declaration of war, ordered grilled fish and invited Xiao Mei to join her. Wen Xin also arrived, sharing how Yu Simiao had masterfully manipulated Su Ziguang from their first elevator encounter to securing a VIP card and influencing his business decisions, confirming Yu Simiao's identity as a "sea queen" who cultivates many men.

Wen Rou formally invited Wen Xin and Xiao Mei to form an "Anti-Fish Alliance," proposing the name "The Female Avengers," to "capture this sea queen, seize her crimes, and break up her fish pond." The alliance put their "Jingwei reclamation plan" into action. At the Yihao Hotel, as Yu Simiao was attempting to juggle a date with Jian Jian, another client unexpectedly arrived, expecting a gym session. Yu Simiao quickly sent him away.

Han Qing, observing from below, encountered Zhong Yu, who was also at the hotel for business. Yu Simiao, realizing her plans were being sabotaged, made a phone call to have the hotel elevator stopped to delay others. As more of her "fish" started to appear – another man expecting lunch, a man asking about his puppy, and the previously drunk client – Yu Simiao’s situation spiraled out of control.

With the elevator still stopped, customers complained, and a staff member informed Yu Simiao that the manager was looking for her regarding the elevator incident. Excusing herself from Jian Jian, Yu Simiao ran to the garden, where she faced a man asking about his puppy and yet another client expecting to meet her. As Jian Jian was brought to the chaotic scene by Xiao Mei, he witnessed Yu Simiao with multiple men, confirming her manipulative schemes. Wen Rou, seeing the "fish pond" in full disarray, gave the signal for the final act.

Episode 17 Recap

Wen Rou, Wen Xin, Xiao Mei, and Han Qing successfully orchestrated Yu's downfall. Xiao Mei, along with several other men Yu had been dating, gathered at Yihao Hotel where Yu had arranged to meet Jian Jian. As Jian Jian arrived, Yu tried to introduce him to her "colleagues and clients," but the plan quickly unraveled. The men exposed Yu's deception, revealing how she had given each of them different birth dates and pretended to favor different gifts.

One man mentioned buying her a purse based on her social media post, while another said she hinted at wanting a necklace, and yet another was told her birthday was in November, matching his zodiac sign. It became clear that Yu was manipulating them all. They accused her of "relationship fraud," demanding compensation.

Jian Jian was left heartbroken, realizing that after seven years of silently liking Yu, he was merely one of her "fish" in a vast pond of men she was using. Shan Liang saw him crying in the office and comforted him. Jian Jian recounted Yu's various deceptive tactics, like feigning sleep to lean on a man's shoulder or pretending to be drunk for physical contact.

Shan Liang reflected that while Wen Rou might sometimes play tricks, at least he was the only one in her heart. Han Qing confided in Wen Rou that she still believed she and Zhong Yu were "destined," despite their repeated encounters and missed connections. She felt he couldn't let go of her and resolved to be patient and wait for him to approach her. Meanwhile, Wen Rou messaged Shan Liang, asking to meet face-to-face.

Shan Liang invited her to his hotel room. There, Wen Rou sincerely apologized for her past deceptions and hurting him. Shan Liang, still pretending to be unforgiving, challenged her to show her sincerity. Wen Rou promised never to trick him again and offered to treat him to dinner at his favorite Yujian restaurant, assuring him she would make a reservation immediately. Jian Jian helped Xiao Mei look for a new apartment.

Despite his sadness over Yu, Xiao Mei told him he wasn't foolish for loving so deeply and assured him that his dedication was admirable, proclaiming that he was a good person with a kind temperament. She jokingly asked him to help her move that night. Later, Yu texted Jian Jian, asking to meet for a face-to-face apology, and he agreed, momentarily forgetting his promise to Xiao Mei.

Wen Rou also sent a message to Shan Liang, confirming her dinner reservation and stating she would wait for him at the restaurant, regardless of whether he showed up. Coincidentally, both Wen Rou and Yu chose the same café, leading to an awkward silent encounter. Meanwhile, Xiao Mei started moving her belongings alone.

Jian Jian, having a change of heart, rushed to help her, apologizing for almost standing her up and promising to treat her to dinner after, specifically mentioning hot pot or river snails rice noodles. At the café, Yu was confronted by a man she had met at a bar, who accused her of using him and leaving with someone else.

As the man became aggressive and called her names, Wen Rou intervened, asserting that a man should not treat a woman that way, and was pushed aside. Yu, seemingly shocked, quickly ran away. Jian Jian, having dinner with Xiao Mei, ignored Yu's subsequent messages for help, which detailed being harassed by a "creepy middle-aged man." Yu, however, was unfazed and quickly began fishing in another pond. Shan Liang arrived at the café to find Wen Rou gone.

A staff member explained the commotion, showing him a video of Wen Rou intervening to help Yu, then being pushed, and confirmed she had been sent home. Shan Liang was touched by Wen Rou's selfless act for a stranger. Rushing home, Shan Liang found Wen Rou looking dazed. She revealed she had tested positive on a pregnancy test, having realized her period was late. Overjoyed, Shan Liang embraced her, declaring he was going to be a father.

He tenderly covered her with a blanket and confessed his own shortcomings, admitting he hadn't fully understood her or given her enough security. He recognized that her past hurts had led her to trust only herself, and he also bore responsibility for the rift between them.

Shan Liang expressed his belief that Wen Rou truly loved him for who he was, not for his external circumstances, and promised a future free of lies and deception, stating that they were destined to overcome all obstacles together. Wen Rou, deeply moved, promised to reciprocate and make amends. Han Qing was delighted by Wen Rou's pregnancy and the happy ending to their story.

Wen Rou, determined to be a better person, resolved to cherish her hard-won happiness and never lie to Shan Liang again. They moved forward with plans for a fashion show, interviewing models. Wen Rou ambitiously decided to invite top model Liu Meng as the opening guest, hoping to elevate their brand. Shan Liang, blissfully happy, overlooked minor mistakes from his employees.

A male model named Lan, though late for his interview, impressed Han Qing, who decided to give him a chance to expand the market for their unisex shoes. After work, Lan offered to take a stressed Han Qing on a motorcycle ride to help her relax, a novel experience for her. Shan Liang became an extremely attentive and overprotective father-to-be. He delved into pregnancy books and online courses, constantly monitoring Wen Rou's health and dictating her diet.

He bought a plethora of baby items, happily announcing Wen Rou's pregnancy to everyone they encountered. Wen Rou, now clad in oversized clothes chosen by Shan Liang, jokingly referred to her new look as the "seriously protected by husband in every aspect" style. Han Qing and Lan's relationship blossomed rapidly, much to Wen Rou's surprise.

Despite their quick progression, Lan, six years younger than Han Qing, had different habits that caused minor friction, such as his love for horror movies that kept Han Qing awake at night, making her feel tired.

Shan Liang, going to extreme lengths to ensure Wen Rou's health and prevent her from leaving the house, bought a second refrigerator filled with organic ingredients, creating a "one-stop shop" for healthy meals, desserts, and even an in-home entertainment setup, citing unhealthy external options and poor ventilation. Wen Rou, however, found the nutritious, bland meals and herbal tonics unbearable, feeling constantly stuffed and even nauseous.

When Han Qing visited, fresh from a hyaluronic acid treatment and seeking skin-care product advice, Shan Liang, considering Wen Rou's cosmetics and beauty devices unsafe during pregnancy, generously gave all of them to Han Qing. Wen Rou, though silently fuming at the loss of her beloved makeup, had to concede to Shan Liang's strict regime.

Episode 18 Recap

Han Qing decided to change her style, getting a hyaluronic acid injection and a makeover to appear younger for her boyfriend, Lan, openly admitting she felt much older than him. Wen Rou expressed concern, warning Han Qing about the dangers of being controlled in a relationship and likening Lan to "sugarcane" that is sweet at first but leaves only bitter residue. Han Qing, however, dismissed Wen Rou's worries, claiming she understood the situation.

She then criticized Shan Liang, calling him a "control freak" for his constant oversight of Wen Rou. Wen Rou, in turn, fiercely defended Shan Liang, describing his actions as "caring." She recounted how he meticulously cooked nutritious meals, selected her daily outfits, and enforced a healthy routine, even if it meant her food was bland and her clothes were plainer than usual.

Later, Shan Liang confronted Wen Rou about her late return home after a meal with Han Qing and her unanswered messages, sternly reminding her to prioritize her schedule. Wen Rou was tirelessly preparing for the show, with Shan Liang constantly by her side. Backstage, models initially voiced numerous complaints about their shoes. However, their demeanor shifted dramatically when Shan Liang urged Wen Rou to sit down for the sake of her pregnancy.

Upon learning Wen Rou was expecting, the models became remarkably cooperative, expressing understanding and encouraging Wen Rou to rest. Wen Rou, despite her discomfort, assured everyone that her pregnancy would not impede the show's progress. Soon after, Lan complimented Han Qing's outfit but suggested altering the shoes to have squarer toes or even transforming them into men's shoes.

Han Qing initially resisted, explaining Polimoda's brand identity and the unisex theme of the women's shoe collection, stressing that she lacked the authority to change Wen Rou's original design. Nevertheless, under Lan's persuasive charm, Han Qing eventually relented and approached Wen Rou with the modification request. Wen Rou, relaxing with grapes provided by Shan Liang, firmly rejected the idea, citing the design's integrity and balanced comfort.

She quickly suspected Lan's influence behind the suggestion and chastised Han Qing for being easily swayed. During this tense conversation, Wen Rou suddenly clutched her stomach, causing a visibly worried Han Qing to immediately drop the argument and agree to all of Wen Rou's design decisions. Han Qing later informed Lan that Wen Rou had refused the changes due to her pregnancy-related sensitivity and attempted to soothe his disappointment.

Wen Rou grew increasingly disheartened as Liu Meng failed to respond to her invitation to be the show's opening model, fearing her event might not be prestigious enough. Shan Liang wanted to send Wen Rou to the show, but she emphatically told him that her emotional well-being was paramount for their baby's health and strictly forbade him from coming to the show venue, causing Shan Liang to back down.

She explained that his constant vigilance at home already made her feel suffocated, and his presence at the show would render her completely incapable of working. Despite her clear wishes, Shan Liang, consumed by worry, assigned Jian Jian to act as Wen Rou's assistant at the show, forcing Jian Jian to cancel an important business trip to Sanya. Jian Jian's constant hovering, attempts to make Wen Rou sit, and offerings of blood-replenishing soup and water became a significant distraction.

Wen Rou eventually sent him away after he took a photo on his phone, presumably to send to Shan Liang. Shortly afterward, Xiao Lan approached Jian Jian, directly informing him that the newly renovated show venue likely had high formaldehyde levels. He expressed admiration for Wen Rou's dedication despite working there while pregnant. Jian Jian then met Xiao Mei for lunch, where Xiao Mei openly questioned why Shan Liang communicated his concerns to Wen Rou indirectly through Jian Jian.

Shan Liang, who had followed Jian Jian, suddenly appeared, having overheard their conversation. Alarmed by the formaldehyde revelation, he immediately called Han Qing, instructing her to handle the issue discreetly and keep it a secret from Wen Rou. Following Jian Jian's report, Shan Liang secretly directed Han Qing to have Su Ziguang arrange for formaldehyde removal at the show venue, ensuring Wen Rou remained unaware.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Feng and Mrs. Zhang from the board of directors, already informed of Wen Rou's pregnancy, expressed significant concerns about her capacity to manage the demanding show and future large-scale production. They appointed a professional manager to "assist" Wen Rou, who quickly realized the manager's role was supervisory, leading to deep frustration. Wen Rou confided in Su Ziguang, lamenting her efforts felt "useless" and her dreams risked turning into "regret."

Shan Liang, disregarding Wen Rou's earlier request, arrived before a company meeting, bringing fruit and constantly reminding her to hydrate. During the board meeting, Mrs. Feng lauded Wen Rou's dedication but openly questioned her ability to sustain the demanding workload required for Polimoda's expansion while pregnant and wearing high heels. It was at this meeting that Wen Rou shockingly discovered the formaldehyde removal—a secret that had been kept from her.

Mrs. Feng then suggested that, given Wen Rou's nearly two-year absence from work during pregnancy and postpartum, she might need to choose between her family and career for at least the coming year. Shan Liang called Wen Rou during the meeting, reiterating his concerns about the formaldehyde and the show's intense demands, urging her to postpone the show for three months for her and the baby's safety.

Wen Rou vehemently rejected the proposal, accusing Shan Liang of exercising excessive control and diminishing her identity to merely a mother, rather than acknowledging her as Wen Rou with her own career aspirations. She declared her dream was "one step away" and refused any "special treatment," prompting Shan Liang to leave the meeting. During a walk, Wen Rou and Wen Xin reconciled, and Wen Xin learned of Wen Rou's pregnancy, playfully suggesting Wen Rou seemed to "get everything she wants."

Wen Rou, in turn, advised Wen Xin to embrace her vulnerability, implying it would appeal to Su Ziguang. Taking this advice, Wen Xin invited Su Ziguang to shop for a baby gift for Wen Rou. While browsing, Wen Xin was drawn to a black spider toy, revealing her childhood fondness for such items, which her father, Wen Yajun, had always deemed inappropriate for girls.

Su Ziguang, understanding her unfulfilled wish, bought the spider toy for Wen Xin, emphasizing that both babies and girls deserve to be cherished. Later, while watching a horror movie together, Wen Xin became startled and instinctively clutched Su Ziguang's arm. During their ensuing conversation, Wen Xin confessed that her true passions lay not in design, but in "boyish" pursuits like superheroes, a preference her father had never accepted.

Su Ziguang reassured her, asserting that as an adult, she was no longer bound by her father's expectations and was free to pursue her genuine desires. Playfully, Su Ziguang suggested a kiss as a token of gratitude. To his surprise, Wen Xin took him seriously, initiating a kiss that deepened their growing romantic connection.

Episode 19 Recap

Su Ziguang woke up in a hotel, finding Wen Xin already packed and ready to leave. She told him she had things to do and that he didn't need to take responsibility for what happened between them. After closing the door, Wen Xin blushed, unable to hide her feelings for Su Ziguang. Wen Xin returned home and announced her decision to move back.

When her father, Wen Yajun, questioned her choice of toys, she defiantly responded that she was a grown woman who had followed his path for too long and now wished to choose her own way, emphasizing that her future efforts would be for herself. Meanwhile, Lan expressed his strong desire to be Polimoda's opening model, asking Han Qing what qualities she thought an opening model should possess.

Han Qing described the ideal traits but gently suggested Lan could achieve this "in the future," explaining that Polimoda, a women's shoe brand, was not suitable for a male opening model. Lan then subtly manipulated Han Qing, voicing his insecurity about their differing statuses and implying that being the opening model would bridge the gap. He also reminded her of her authority as a co-founder. Han Qing, swayed by his words, agreed to let him try.

During the rehearsal, Wen Rou unexpectedly arrived, despite being scheduled for a prenatal checkup. She was angered to see Lan on stage as the opening model. Wen Rou confronted Han Qing, using the "Bluebeard" analogy to highlight Lan's manipulative nature. She pointed out Lan's repeated attempts to influence their show's direction and accused him of exploiting Han Qing's weaknesses. Wen Rou unequivocally stated that Lan was unfit and would not be the opening model.

Later, Han Qing comforted a disheartened Lan, buying him his favorite shoes and suggesting they get matching pairs. Han Qing called Wen Rou, reminding her about a 10 AM model interview she needed to oversee, as Wen Rou had a prenatal checkup. Unbeknownst to Wen Rou, Shan Liang had arranged a surprise for her. He took her to a hotel, revealing it wasn't for a checkup but to meet Liu Meng, a top model.

Han Qing, hearing Wen Rou's excuse, momentarily suspected Wen Rou was slacking off, remembering Lan's earlier complaints. Shan Liang gave Wen Rou a gift and her design booklet, encouraging her to secure Liu Meng for the show on her own merit. Wen Rou skillfully pitched her vision to Liu Meng, emphasizing the show's fairy tale theme and Han Qing's design talent. Impressed but cautious, Liu Meng agreed to visit their venue and discuss further with Han Qing.

Upon returning to the venue, Wen Rou was met with an enraged Han Qing, who accused her of lying about her prenatal checkup and "slacking off" due to her pregnancy, manipulating everyone, and burdening Han Qing with all the work. Wen Rou was deeply hurt, highlighting Han Qing's drastic change since dating Lan and the damage to their friendship.

She clarified that her secret meeting was to secure Liu Meng for the show and announced that their professional relationship would henceforth be strictly business, devoid of personal ties. Shan Liang later comforted a distressed Wen Rou, agreeing that Han Qing had been manipulated by Lan, likening him to Bluebeard. They then discussed their own relationship, reflecting on past instances of over-protection and dependence, and resolved to foster mutual independence.

Wen Rou messaged Han Qing about Liu Meng's upcoming visit to the venue. However, Lan intercepted the message on Han Qing's phone and deliberately failed to inform her. The next morning, Liu Meng arrived promptly, only to find Han Qing still asleep. When Han Qing finally arrived, smelling of alcohol, Liu Meng was disappointed by her unprofessionalism and opted to reconsider the collaboration.

Wen Rou discovered Lan's deception, but Han Qing continued to defend him, claiming she was drunk and that Lan was working hard. Wen Rou was furious at Han Qing's blind loyalty. Lan then seized the opportunity to advocate for his classmate as the opening model, pretending to care for Han Qing but actually trying to save face. The situation escalated when a selfie video posted by Lan and his classmate, revealing the show's stage setup, was leaked online.

Despite the undeniable evidence, Han Qing continued to shield them, claiming she hadn't adequately informed them about the change in opening models. Wen Rou and Su Ziguang, exasperated, decided to focus on damage control. Later, Wen Xin arrived at the venue, having heard about the leak. She initially tried to hide from Su Ziguang but her phone rang, revealing her location.

When confronted, she claimed she was lost and looking for Wen Rou to offer help, citing her experience and connections. Su Ziguang questioned her motives, given their competitive relationship. Wen Xin retorted that fair competition was essential and she didn't want Wen Rou to lose due to external issues, subtly hinting at other motivations. Su Ziguang playfully suggested she might be helping him, to which Wen Xin gave an evasive answer.

Su Ziguang then noticed Wen Xin covertly filming him as he watched the empty runway. When caught, he teased her, offering to pose for her if she liked him, then performed an exaggerated walk on the runway. Su Ziguang later sought advice from Shan Liang, describing a driven female client who, despite her rationality, would use her authority and sacrifice personal interests for a male client.

Shan Liang initially assumed he was speaking of Wen Rou but quickly realized he was describing Wen Xin. Shan Liang immediately started referring to Su Ziguang as "brother-in-law." That night, Wen Rou brought food to Han Qing. As they shared a meal and reminisced about their impoverished beginnings, including sharing a single bowl of noodles, Wen Rou remarked on Han Qing's "tricksy" nature, suggesting she wasn't suited for "romantic, pure fairy tale themes" but rather "alternative fairy tales." This conversation sparked an idea, leading them to decide on "Dark Fairy Tales" as the new theme for their show.

Episode 20 Recap

Han Qing and Wen Rou presented their new show proposal, explaining it as a "dark fairy tale" theme where kindness has its boundaries and sometimes needs a touch of sharpness. They detailed the adjusted design drafts, with clothes and shoes still needing fine-tuning, and requested other departments to expedite the promotional copy and setting pictures. Su Ziguang was highly impressed, remarking on the efficiency and asking if they had worked through the night.

Han Qing responded that inspiration kept them going without sleep. Wen Rou, attributing the success to a good partner (Han Qing), expressed relief when Su Ziguang confirmed that not only would no manager be assigned to oversee her, but she would also receive additional investment. He shared his belief that strong married women can balance both career and family. Wen Yajun noted that Wen Rou's show, now postponed, would directly compete with Wanli's.

Wen Xin, however, arrogantly dismissed Polimoda as being on a different level. Her father observed that Wen Rou was rapidly catching up, stirring a sense of crisis in Wen Xin. Later, Lan approached Han Qing, theatrically suggesting they break up. He falsely claimed Wen Rou had repeatedly hinted that he was too young and not good enough for Han Qing, and that he was dragging her down. Han Qing, distressed, tried to assure him Wen Rou didn't mean that.

Lan continued to lament his perceived uselessness, especially regarding the opening model position, claiming he felt like a "clown" for causing trouble with his good intentions. Han Qing, still under his influence, comforted him, emphasizing that she understood his good intentions and pleaded with him not to end their relationship over such a trivial matter. She even offered a post-show vacation. Lan eventually relented, promising to always stand by Han Qing in any conflict with her friends.

Lan then appeared at the show venue, much to Wen Rou’s annoyance. Wen Rou sharply reprimanded him for making Han Qing work exhaustively for two days and nights. Lan defensively blamed "that woman" who leaked the video and insisted he was there to care for Han Qing.

Wen Rou scoffed, pointing out his late arrival and reminding him that both he and the other person were legally liable for the video, adding that she only refrained from pressing charges for Han Qing's sake. She questioned why Han Qing should always bear the consequences of his actions. Lan, playing the victim again, suggested he and Han Qing break up so she wouldn't quarrel with her friend. Wen Rou saw through his act, calling it pathetic.

Han Qing, torn between them, finally burst out, telling Wen Rou to stop interfering. She admitted her own "love-struck brain" and her emotional naiveté compared to Wen Rou, but asserted her right to manage her own relationships. She declared she could no longer endure the dilemma. She announced her resignation from the show, forfeiting all design copyrights, dividends, and her position, claiming she was unfit to be a partner.

Wen Rou called out her name in shock as Han Qing walked away. Lan, however, was not grateful. He confronted Han Qing, complaining that her quitting meant he couldn't be a model. Han Qing explained she quit for his sake, but Lan retorted that he never asked her to. When Han Qing offered to speak with Wen Rou again, Lan dismissed it, stating it was too late and inexplicable why Han Qing would make such a move.

Han Qing was left bewildered by his utter lack of gratitude and selfish focus on his own modeling prospects. Wen Rou expressed her frustration to Shan Liang, lamenting her inability to intervene in Han Qing’s love life while knowing Lan was exploiting her. She worried that Han Qing would never return to the show, feeling lost without her. Shan Liang offered his support, but Wen Rou, in a moment of playful despair, suggested he just "bully" her instead.

That evening, Lan was engrossed in video games at home, ignoring Han Qing who was trying to work. When she asked him to lower his voice, he retorted that if she hadn't impulsively quit the show, he wouldn't have nothing better to do. Just then, Han Qing received a text from Wen Rou, claiming Shan Liang was preventing her from holding the show and asking for help.

This was a pre-arranged plan between Wen Rou and Shan Liang to open Han Qing’s eyes to Lan's true nature and facilitate reconciliation. Han Qing rushed to the show. Shan Liang, struggling to deliver harsh lines to Wen Rou, tried to convey his scripted argument that Wen Rou, being pregnant, should prioritize her family, and that he would compel Su Ziguang to withdraw investment and terminate the show.

Wen Rou feigned agreement, playing along by saying Shan Liang was acting "for her good." Han Qing, hearing these lines, erupted, accusing Shan Liang of trying to control Wen Rou's career. She passionately argued that society demands women to be independent, men expect them to stay youthful, and families want them to be good wives and mothers, effectively turning them into pets. She warned that sacrificing her career would mean starting from scratch later.

She also questioned Shan Liang’s change in character. Sensing the forced nature of the argument, Han Qing soon realized it was an act. Wen Rou then confirmed the deception, explaining that the harsh words Han Qing had just spoken to Shan Liang perfectly mirrored Lan’s manipulative tactics. She pointed out that while Han Qing was anxious and sleepless from work, Lan was out with friends or playing games. She emphasized that genuine care involves action, not just words.

Wen Rou asserted that Lan didn't truly love Han Qing; he merely used her to elevate his own life, to assert power through her obedience, and to mask his incompetence with her failures. She apologized for the trick but urged Han Qing to seriously re-evaluate her relationship with Lan from a detached perspective. Han Qing, shaken, quietly stated that if Wen Rou was unfit to be a partner, then so was she.

Wen Rou pleaded with her, admitting she couldn't manage without her and promising to wait, certain Han Qing would eventually return. Back home, Lan still lay on the sofa playing games. He casually invited Han Qing to dinner with his friends. At the restaurant, Lan's friends praised him, excited about his upcoming modeling career, assuming Han Qing was paying for the meal, which Lan tacitly allowed.

Remembering Wen Rou's words, Han Qing made a toast, acknowledging Lan's friends' support "when he’s broken in love," openly hinting at their impending breakup. Shocked, Lan tried to dismiss it as a joke, but Han Qing was resolute. She calmly ended their relationship, stating they were only tormenting each other. Lan protested, claiming he had spent almost all his money on her and worked hard for her sake.

Han Qing coolly countered that he spent his money expecting her to spend much more, and his "hard work" was merely an act to gain her pity and manipulate Wen Rou. She then told his friends to enjoy the food, as Lan wouldn't be treating them again. Before leaving, she made Lan strip off the expensive clothes she had bought him, noting with satisfaction that she'd "fortunately bought a one-size-fits-all."

Meanwhile, Wen Xin and Su Ziguang went for a walk, playfully teasing each other about their professions. They encountered two alpacas, with Su Ziguang initially wary due to his expensive clothes and online rumors about alpacas spitting and biting. Wen Xin encouraged him, reassuring him they were harmless, and they eventually shared a tender moment petting the animals. Wen Xin then asked Su Ziguang for the truth about his past relationship with Wen Rou.

He candidly admitted they only had a few casual meals and never truly dated. Su Ziguang, in turn, asked Wen Xin about her strained relationship with Wen Rou. Wen Xin revealed that their difficult dynamic was a long-standing habit. Wen Rou and her mother had "suddenly" entered her life, and her father, Wen Yajun, was always poor at communication. Coupled with childhood fairy tales depicting evil stepmothers and stepsisters, she had developed a deep resentment.

However, she confessed that after all these years, neither Wen Rou nor her mother had ever actually harmed her, and she acknowledged her own part in their difficult relationship. Han Qing returned to Polimoda, and she and Wen Rou reconciled. One day, at the office, Wen Rou suddenly felt a stomachache. Shan Liang and Han Qing anxiously rushed her to the hospital. While waiting, Han Qing surprisingly encountered Zhong Yu, who explained he regularly volunteered there on weekends.

To Wen Rou's shock, the doctor informed her that she was not pregnant; her symptoms were merely ordinary period abdominal pain and her "pregnant belly" was from overeating. Distraught, Wen Rou confided in Han Qing, unable to accept the misunderstanding. She expressed her fear of telling Shan Liang, who had been so worried and loving, certain he would believe she had deliberately used a fake pregnancy to force reconciliation. She insisted she truly had not intended to deceive him.

Han Qing, after a moment of reflection, compared marriage to building blocks, cautioning that lies, once exposed, would cause trust and affection to crumble. Shan Liang continued to dote on Wen Rou, bringing her special meals and caring for her. His father also visited, overjoyed by the news of a grandchild and bringing numerous gifts, completely unaware of the truth. That night, as Shan Liang read a Pinocchio story, Wen Rou felt her "nose grow," symbolizing her deepening guilt.

When Shan Liang, concerned about the baby's stability in the first trimester, suggested he move to the guest room, Wen Rou was left frustrated, realizing this would prevent any chance of actually conceiving. She worried about future accusations of "malicious fake pregnancy" and imagined herself punished by an "emperor." When Han Qing asked if she was still thinking about Lan, Wen Rou vehemently denied it, claiming her thoughts were on Zhong Yu.

Han Qing informed Wen Rou about her continued encounters with Zhong Yu, noting that he had formally invited her out, though it had been almost 24 hours without a follow-up. Soon after, Zhong Yu messaged her, inviting her to an Italian restaurant within a hotel. Han Qing, initially wary of the hotel location, quickly clarified it was for dinner at the restaurant. They went and happily made pizza together.

Later, while walking, Zhong Yu playfully remarked on Han Qing always walking behind him. Han Qing admitted she feared he might "disappear suddenly" like a past friend had after college. Zhong Yu reassured her he wouldn't go anywhere. As the show preparations continued, Wen Rou learned that the model Liu Meng had declined to participate, making excuses. Other models also refused due to the brand's low recognition and the small scale of the show.

Facing a dilemma, Wen Rou suggested finding a "newbie" as the opening model. Han Qing apologized for being preoccupied with dating and leaving Wen Rou with all the work. Wen Rou asked about her dates with Zhong Yu, and Han Qing expressed confusion about his physical distance, describing him as "bouncing away" as if she had an infectious disease. Wen Rou, ever practical, suggested Han Qing invite Zhong Yu to join them, implying he could help with the show and perhaps "move things along" in their relationship.

Episode 21 Recap

Su Ziguang and Wen Xin played tennis together, with Su Ziguang being quickly defeated by Wen Xin. His assistant, observing this, privately commented that Su Ziguang was being too much of a gentleman and letting Wen Xin win, expressing slight concern that he was being too obvious. Wen Xin, believing she was dominating, playfully threatened to "zero-seal" him. Afterward, they went rock climbing. Wen Xin expressed apprehension, citing safety concerns with the equipment, while Su Ziguang easily scaled the wall.

When it was her turn, she struggled to descend, and Su Ziguang helped her jump down, reassuring her he would catch her. After their activities, Su Ziguang teased Wen Xin, calling her his "excellent and cute girlfriend." Wen Xin, feigning indignation, denied being his girlfriend, but eventually reluctantly admitted it. Su Ziguang reminded her that their first kiss already made them a couple, a "contract" that couldn't be unilaterally broken.

He then inquired when they would officially announce their relationship, to which Wen Xin replied, "when it's stable," adding that it wasn't a pregnancy requiring a three-month waiting period. Wen Rou grew concerned about Han Qing's relationship with Zhong Yu. During the rock climbing session, Han Qing became scared, and although Zhong Yu offered to catch her, he hesitated and recoiled when she fell, allowing her to land on the safety mat.

Wen Rou openly criticized Zhong Yu's reluctance to offer physical support, interpreting it as a clear sign of disinterest. Han Qing, confused, wondered why Zhong Yu would contact her daily if he didn't like her. Wen Rou sarcastically suggested he must be interested in Han Qing's "talent," given his seemingly modest means.

Wen Rou then directly advised Han Qing to distance herself from Zhong Yu, emphasizing that genuine affection involves a desire for physical closeness, and warned her not to be swayed by his sweet talk. The situation became more perplexing when Shan Liang, Wen Rou's husband, sent her a takeout meal to Han Qing's house, a thoughtful gesture Wen Rou highlighted as actions speaking louder than words. Simultaneously, Zhong Yu also sent Han Qing her favorite spicy seafood pot.

Wen Rou was baffled by Zhong Yu's contradictory behavior – avoiding physical contact but remembering Han Qing's favorite food. Discussing her observations with Shan Liang, he suggested Zhong Yu might have a "difficult secret." Wen Rou, determined to protect Han Qing from further hurt, considered using their company's matching system to assess their compatibility.

Shan Liang later received client data, hinting that the client (Zhong Yu) had a profession known to deter people, prompting his assistant to ask if Zhong Yu wasn't a makeup artist. Shan Liang, who now suspected Zhong Yu's true profession, chose not to immediately disclose this to Wen Rou, believing Han Qing and Zhong Yu should resolve their own matters. Wen Rou went for her prenatal checkup alone, falsely telling Shan Liang that Han Qing was with her.

While at the hospital, she secretly saw Zhong Yu comforting a crying woman named Guoguo, assuring her that a surgery would be successful. Later, Wen Rou cautiously told Han Qing about what she saw, framing it as a hypothetical situation involving a "good friend" whose ambiguous partner was seeing another woman. Han Qing initially misunderstood, thinking Wen Rou was referring to Shan Liang.

After Wen Rou clarified it was about Han Qing's situation, she recounted seeing Zhong Yu consoling the woman. Wen Rou expressed concern that Han Qing might be kept in the dark, comparing the situation to a past incident. Han Qing dismissed the concern, stating Zhong Yu had told her he was working. Wen Rou retorted that men with guilty consciences often use "work" as an excuse, advising Han Qing to ask for a photo.

Zhong Yu promptly sent a picture of himself at a hotel, doing makeup for a small artist. Skeptical, Wen Rou urged Han Qing to confront Zhong Yu directly. Despite Han Qing's hesitation about the potential awkwardness, Wen Rou insisted that confirming his character was crucial before their relationship progressed. Using details from Zhong Yu's photo, Wen Rou identified the specific hotel and room number, 1112.

Wen Rou and Han Qing arrived at the hotel, where they unexpectedly saw Su Ziguang swimming. Wen Xin, who was with him, quickly hid from them. Su Ziguang, feeling their clandestine relationship was "improper," expressed his frustration to Wen Xin about not being able to make their romance public. Wen Xin reiterated her condition of waiting "three months later," making Su Ziguang jokingly lament that their situation was becoming "more and more like pregnancy."

Bursting into room 1112, Wen Rou and Han Qing found Zhong Yu indeed applying makeup to a model. Han Qing awkwardly asked if they were interrupting, to which Zhong Yu admitted, "kind of." To Wen Rou's surprise, Shan Liang and Jian Jian were also present, with Shan Liang revealing he had introduced Zhong Yu to this makeup job. Jian Jian offered everyone coffee to diffuse the tension.

Afterward, Wen Rou privately confronted Shan Liang, suspecting he was withholding information to save face. She pressed him to reveal the truth, but he maintained he had nothing to explain. He reassured her that he had not betrayed her, emphasizing the importance of trust in their relationship. He concluded by saying that while he might be withholding some information, "the time is not right" for him to disclose it.

Wen Rou, though still perplexed, agreed to give him time, a gesture that pleased Shan Liang. Shan Liang, eager to make amends with Wen Rou, took her shopping, buying clothes and bags. When his assistant suggested focusing on baby items, Shan Liang clarified that Wen Rou's most important need was to realize her dream. Meanwhile, Liu Meng contacted Wen Rou, confirming her decision to collaborate.

This news reached Wen Yajun, who was informed that Liu Meng had rejected her company, Wanli, but agreed to Polimoda (Wen Rou's company) because Shan Liang had personally persuaded her. Displeased, Wen Yajun requested all of Wen Rou's design drafts for review. At the show's preparation, Liu Meng unexpectedly demanded a new makeup and hair team.

Faced with this sudden challenge, Wen Rou and Han Qing spotted Zhong Yu on-site and urgently asked him to step in as a makeup artist. Zhong Yu was visibly reluctant, claiming he lacked the necessary skills and experience for show makeup and that his style was unsuitable. Despite his protests, Wen Rou and Han Qing insisted, assuring him that Wen Rou would guide the style, and he reluctantly agreed.

As Zhong Yu began applying makeup to a model, his unusual instructions to "stop moving," "be still," and "hold your breath" raised eyebrows, with Wen Rou and Han Qing noticing his strange behavior. Shan Liang arrived, surprised to see Zhong Yu in that role. Unable to continue, Zhong Yu finally admitted he couldn't do the makeup. Pressed for a reason, he revealed his true profession: he was an embalmer, not a makeup artist.

He confessed that he knew this lie would eventually be exposed. Wen Rou then understood why he had always been so hesitant to have physical contact with Han Qing. Shan Liang, who had known about Zhong Yu's true profession all along and helped him hide it, acknowledged that Han Qing deserved to know the truth.

Zhong Yu pleaded to be allowed to tell Han Qing himself after he secured a new job, and Shan Liang offered his assistance in finding new employment. However, Liu Meng deemed Zhong Yu unsuitable for the show, stating his "senior experience" restricted him, and that "someone had objections." She then thanked Wen Rou and Han Qing for their efforts.

Zhong Yu explained to Wen Rou and Shan Liang that he had wanted to confess his feelings to Han Qing in college. However, his father's insistence on him pursuing the embalming profession, which he believed Han Qing would not accept, forced him to suppress his love. Their reunion at a class event reignited his feelings for her "sunny and positive" nature, but his fear of his profession led him to keep his distance.

He initially tried to find an opportunity to tell her, but witnessing her terror of death-related themes during a horror movie further convinced him to stay away. Yet, fate continuously brought them together, making him realize he couldn't live without her. He begged them not to reveal his profession to Han Qing, fearing he would lose her.

Shan Liang countered that lies eventually surface, drawing parallels to Wen Rou's own internal torment from concealing her 'pregnancy' secret and how it ultimately came to light. He suggested that Han Qing deserved to know the truth. Zhong Yu reiterated his plan to find a new job first, then confess to Han Qing, asking for more time, which Shan Liang agreed to help with. Later, Han Qing invited Zhong Yu to her apartment.

Using a fabricated story about a cockroach, she attempted to initiate physical contact, but Zhong Yu reacted strangely, offering to search for the insect or even move out himself. Han Qing then confessed her real intention was to touch him and expressed her frustration with his inconsistent behavior. Zhong Yu revealed that he held her in such high regard that he lacked the courage to take the next step.

Taking the initiative, Han Qing declared her love for him, admitting she had liked him since college and, despite a previous rejection, was bravely asking for another chance. She asked if they could be together, and he, in turn, asked if he could provide her with enough security. She assured him he could. He then reciprocated his long-held feelings, asking her to be his girlfriend, and they embraced.

Han Qing, beaming, informed Wen Rou and Shan Liang that she and Zhong Yu were officially together. Wen Rou immediately asked if Zhong Yu had told Han Qing about his profession, to which Han Qing's ambiguous reply implied she was aware, but Wen Rou and Shan Liang remained puzzled, intending to give Zhong Yu more time to confess properly.

Han Qing, meanwhile, expressed excitement for her new life, eager to "embrace, kiss, and enjoy it," and asked if they experienced similar joy in their relationship. Despite Han Qing's newfound happiness, Wen Rou still felt obligated to tell her about Zhong Yu's profession to prevent her from becoming too deeply involved, but Shan Liang urged her to give Zhong Yu more time to confess on his own.

After much internal struggle and Shan Liang's metaphor about trust being like crumbling building blocks, Wen Rou finally confessed to him that she was not pregnant and only discovered this at the hospital. To her surprise, Shan Liang revealed he already knew. He explained that after seeing her distressed upon leaving the clinic, he discreetly asked Dr. Wang about her condition while Wen Rou was in the restroom.

Dr. Wang clarified that Wen Rou was not pregnant, attributing her symptoms to a normal period and a distended belly from overeating. Wen Rou was deeply moved by Shan Liang's patience and trust, tearfully apologizing for her concealment and admitting her fear that he would perceive her as a liar. Shan Liang comforted her, assuring her he understood that her "lie" was intended to protect him and acknowledging his own disappointment at the non-pregnancy.

He reflected that like Wen Rou's "white lie," Zhong Yu's deception was also an "admission ticket to love" and thus forgivable. Despite their reconciliation, Wen Rou still felt Han Qing deserved to know the truth from them. However, Shan Liang advised against it, emphasizing that Han Qing was "not as battle-scarred" as Wen Rou and needed a more suitable moment for such a revelation.

Unaware of the full story of Wen Rou's non-pregnancy, Su Ziguang visited the show preparations and discussed investor concerns directly with Wen Rou regarding her 'dark fairy tale' theme, particularly its suitability for children and mothers, relaying that his boss, Mr. Feng, had advised him to communicate directly on important matters.

Meanwhile, Jian Jian was meticulously instructing the staff at the show to absolutely avoid any mention of children to Wen Rou, fearing it would upset her and Shan Liang, even suggesting resignation if necessary to prevent such a mishap. Su Ziguang was left perplexed, asking, "the baby, what happened to the baby?"

Episode 22 Recap

At the office, as Su Ziguang began to mention the baby, Wen Rou realized that everyone knew about her supposed pregnancy. She quickly clarified that she was not pregnant at all and it had all been a misunderstanding. Her colleagues and friends comforted her, reassuring her that there was no need for regret and that pleasant surprises would come in due time, encouraging her to focus on her work at Polimoda. Wen Rou thanked them, assuring them she was fine.

Later, at Han Qing’s apartment, Zhong Yu finished tidying the kitchen, preparing to leave. Han Qing asked him to stay, but when she saw his hesitant expression, she became frustrated. She questioned why he was always so resistant to physical intimacy as a couple. Zhong Yu, looking troubled, could only take her hand and apologize, reaffirming his strong feelings for her and asking her to trust him.

Witnessing this interaction, Shan Liang observed to Wen Rou that Zhong Yu still hadn't told Han Qing the truth. Reflecting on how one lie often leads to many more, Shan Liang suggested to Wen Rou that they make a pact: from that day forward, they would be completely honest with each other and with everyone else, facing all problems together.

Wen Rou, finding the idea of lifelong honesty daunting, proposed they try it for a week first, to which Shan Liang agreed. They made playful vows, with Wen Rou swearing by her collection of bags, jewelry, and shoes, and Shan Liang by his love for Wen Rou.

They began confessing minor truths; Wen Rou admitted to fabricating a client meeting to have dinner with Han Qing when Shan Liang's cooking was too bland, and Shan Liang confessed to secretly donating some of Wen Rou’s unworn clothes. However, when Wen Rou playfully tested Shan Liang by asking who he’d save between her and Han Qing if they both fell into water, and he chose Han Qing (because Wen Rou could swim), the situation quickly spiraled.

Realizing the potential for chaos, they decided to halt the truth-telling pact for the time being. Shan Liang’s newfound commitment to honesty extended to his workplace, much to Jian Jian’s concern. When a colleague asked about her new perm, Shan Liang frankly said it made her look older. Jian Jian worried he might be too honest with clients. His fears were realized when an angry client complained about the matchmaking service, criticizing the women introduced to him.

Shan Liang, supported by Xiao Mei, candidly pointed out the client's low income compared to his high expectations. The client became enraged and nearly attacked Shan Liang, but Jian Jian bravely stepped in front, taking the blow and injuring his ear. Xiao Mei, showing great care, gently applied medicine to Jian Jian's ear, telling him he shouldn't always sacrifice himself for others and deserved to be cared for too.

Jian Jian, deeply touched by her words and actions, realized he had developed feelings for Xiao Mei, but was troubled by their prior agreement to simply be friends. Meanwhile, Wen Yajun, Wen Rou's father, reviewed her design drafts. His colleague admitted Wen Rou's designs were more appealing than Wanli's products, even possessing the charm of early Wanli shoes.

Wen Yajun discovered that Cui Xuelan, Wen Rou's stepmother, had sent Wen Rou copies of ""Wen Xin's mother's"" old designs years ago when Wen Rou was in boarding school. Despite initially thinking Wen Rou wasn't interested in art, Wen Yajun now recognized her talent. He wasn't angry at Cui Xuelan but instead asked her to invite Wen Rou home for dinner, expressing a desire to talk to her, believing he had overlooked her potential.

Cui Xuelan excitedly visited Wen Rou, bringing a ""Five-red Soup"", believing Wen Rou had recently suffered a miscarriage and needed to recuperate. Wen Rou clarified that she had never been pregnant, and it was a misunderstanding. Tearfully, Cui Xuelan scolded Wen Rou for joking about such matters, emphasizing that children are a blessing.

She then reminisced about Wen Rou being a sensible child who had traveled with her through tough times, acknowledging that she hadn't treated Wen Rou as well once their lives improved. Cui Xuelan conveyed Wen Yajun's dinner invitation, hinting that he might want Wen Rou to take over Wanli. Wen Rou immediately rejected the idea, stating it was impossible with Wen Xin around and that she valued creative freedom over working under her father.

Before Wen Rou could fully refuse the dinner, Wen Xin arrived. Wen Rou, using her truth-telling pact, prompted Wen Xin to frankly tell Cui Xuelan that she didn't particularly like her and preferred they "just let it be" rather than pretending. Wen Xin also challenged Cui Xuelan's claim of treating her (Wen Xin) like her own, suggesting that Cui Xuelan didn't even treat her biological daughter (Wen Rou) particularly well.

Despite the awkwardness, Wen Rou agreed to attend the family dinner. On the weekend, Wen Rou and Shan Liang went to her family home. Staying true to their pact, Shan Liang jovially told Wen Rou he would honestly tell her father that his serious demeanor was actually just a "long face." During dinner, Wen Yajun probed Wen Rou about her studies of Wanli's early designs.

Wen Rou eloquently described how Wanli's designs were "against the tide" and how its founder courageously turned that into a trend. Wen Yajun, impressed, offered Wen Rou a significant position at Wanli. Wen Rou politely but firmly refused, stating her passion for independent creative freedom outweighed working under her father, even if Polimoda faced challenges. Shan Liang supported her decision, emphasizing Polimoda's promising development. Their blunt honesty left the family speechless, cutting through the usual unspoken tensions.

As they drove home, Wen Rou expressed her delight, feeling liberated from the "covert attacks" of previous family dinners, where their directness left others "nothing to say." She reaffirmed her conviction that creative freedom was essential, making the idea of returning to Wanli unappealing. Soon after, Han Qing messaged Wen Rou about going to a steam room with Zhong Yu.

Wen Rou, recalling Shan Liang's belief in honesty, decided they should go to tell Han Qing the truth about Zhong Yu's profession. She questioned Shan Liang: if he had to choose between staying blissfully ignorant or facing a painful truth, he would choose the truth. At the steam room, Shan Liang discreetly told Zhong Yu that Wen Rou intended to reveal his true occupation. A panicked Zhong Yu reminded Shan Liang of his promise to keep it a secret.

Shan Liang explained his new truth-telling pact meant he had to inform Zhong Yu, but also promised to find a way to stop Wen Rou from revealing it directly. Meanwhile, Su Ziguang and Wen Xin were also at the same steam room. Not wanting their relationship to be public, Wen Xin pulled Su Ziguang into a hiding spot as Wen Rou and Han Qing approached their room.

Wen Rou began to indirectly broach the topic with Han Qing, telling a hypothetical story about a friend whose sister's boyfriend had a secret. Han Qing immediately suspected infidelity, but Wen Rou tried to redirect her. Han Qing then confessed she would rather not know if the truth would jeopardize her relationship with Zhong Yu.

Sensing the danger, Shan Liang quickly intervened, handing Han Qing a pre-paid massage bracelet with a time limit, effectively whisking Wen Rou away to prevent her from revealing the secret. After Shan Liang whisked Wen Rou away, Su Ziguang and Wen Xin emerged from their hiding spot, seemingly having overheard the dramatic exchange. Shan Liang later told Wen Rou that it was Han Qing and Zhong Yu’s private matter, best left for them to resolve on their own.

Later, while Zhong Yu was getting a massage, he mistook the person for Wen Rou. He candidly confessed his previous profession as an embalmer, reiterating Han Qing's timid nature and pleading for a few more days to keep it secret. Unbeknownst to him, the person was actually Han Qing, who now knew the truth. Back at Han Qing's apartment, their interactions were awkward and strained. Han Qing asked Zhong Yu why he had disappeared after college graduation.

He vaguely cited family issues but refused to elaborate. Later, Zhong Yu discovered Han Qing’s laptop open to search results for "embalmer." He immediately confronted Wen Rou, accusing her of revealing his secret. Wen Rou denied it, explaining Shan Liang had stopped her. They then pieced together that Han Qing must have overheard Zhong Yu's confession during the massage. The next day, Zhong Yu visited Han Qing, informing her that he had resigned from his previous job.

As he prepared to leave, Han Qing stopped him. She asked him to do her makeup, stating that she didn't want him to abandon a profession he loved. After he finished her makeup, Zhong Yu finally confessed his true profession as an embalmer. Han Qing, reciprocating his honesty, told him she didn't mind his profession and wouldn't leave him because of it. Subsequently, Zhong Yu returned to working as an embalmer.

Unintentionally, Wen Rou overheard a conversation between models, learning that Shan Liang had gone to great lengths to arrange for top model Liu Meng to work with her. Han Qing, noticing Wen Rou's surprise, advised her to respect Shan Liang's intentions and pretend not to know, preserving his thoughtful gesture. Moved by Shan Liang’s silent support and immense efforts, Wen Rou embraced him in a heartfelt display of gratitude.

Episode 23 Recap

While shopping, Wen Rou and Shan Liang encountered a young girl who could not find her mother. The girl explained she was supposed to meet her mother at the bookstore, so Wen Rou and Shan Liang waited with her for a long time. The girl revealed that her parents were divorced and her father had started a new family, leading her to believe her father had abandoned her.

Wen Rou comforted the girl, assuring her that her father still loved her, even if they no longer lived together. This experience deeply affected Wen Rou, making her realize that sometimes, kind lies are preferable to harsh truths. She and Shan Liang decided to call off their agreement to always tell each other the truth. Meanwhile, Jian Jian was struggling to confess his feelings to Xiao Mei.

Despite practicing various ways to express his affection and even buying her a gift, Xiao Mei consistently treated him as just a friend. When he offered her a promotional item, she simply asked why he didn't get more. When he tried to invite her out for the weekend, she mistakenly thought he was moving and offered to help him with his moving difficulties. Jian Jian found himself unable to articulate his true feelings, always ending up as her "buddy."

Wen Rou was exhausted from managing the preparations for her upcoming fashion show. Her team reported missing outfits and two media companies pulling out to cover Wanli's show instead. She efficiently handled the crises, emphasizing Polimoda's innovative spirit over Wanli's predictable designs. Shan Liang often appeared when she was most fatigued, providing comfort, such as giving her headphones and letting her rest on his shoulder. Unbeknownst to Wen Rou, her father, Wen Yajun, visited Shan Liang at Xunmi.

Jian Jian initially mistook him for an older client seeking a match and tried to promote Xunmi's services for middle-aged individuals, only to be shocked when Wen Yajun revealed himself as Shan Liang's father-in-law and Wen Rou's father. Wen Yajun expressed his desire for Wen Rou to return to Wanli, claiming he treated her as his own daughter and that she would have more opportunities within the larger group.

He noted that Wen Rou's designs still carried Wanli's influence and believed she was more suitable to inherit Wanli and design its shoes than Wen Xin. However, Shan Liang recognized Wen Yajun's true motive: to eliminate a competitor. He firmly stated that Wanli's decline was due to a lack of innovation and refused to persuade Wen Rou to return, affirming his role as her steadfast support, wanting her to pursue her own creative path.

Wen Yajun, determined to prevent anyone from surpassing Wanli, then decided to target Shan Liang, believing that if Wen Rou's support was removed, she would eventually come home. Soon after, Xunmi faced a severe public relations crisis.

Mr. Jiang, a disgruntled client, lodged a formal complaint against the company, alleging that Shan Liang's wife (Wen Rou) had advised him to conceal his assets for online dating through Xunmi, leading to him being defrauded by a woman he married and who later divorced him. Shan Liang apologized and promised a thorough investigation.

Moments later, Mr. Jiang maliciously edited a recording of their conversation and posted it online, twisting Shan Liang's words to make it appear as if Xunmi disclaimed responsibility for its members' marital situations. This ignited widespread public outrage, with many Xunmi members demanding refunds. Shan Liang publicly presented the unedited recording, explaining that the online version was manipulated. He maintained Xunmi's commitment to its members and offered refunds according to contract terms.

Internally, Shan Liang's team advised against posting the full recording, fearing it would exacerbate the conflict and alienate Mr. Jiang further. Shan Liang believed Mr. Jiang was a pawn, and the real solution lay in getting him to cooperate. He assigned Zou Jing to contact Mr. Jiang and tasked Jian Jian and Xiao Mei with investigating the backgrounds of Mr. Jiang and the woman involved (Yuan Xiangxiang).

The team also noticed a wave of online comments deliberately linking the Xunmi scandal to "Wenderella" (Wen Rou) and Polimoda, aiming to discredit her upcoming fashion show, confirming their suspicion of a coordinated attack. Unaware of the full extent of the crisis, Wen Rou continued preparing for her show. Shan Liang tried to hide his worries from her, but she sensed his unease. Later, Su Ziguang showed Wen Rou the incriminating news on his phone.

He explained that General Manager Feng, a key stakeholder for Polimoda, was already investigating and her trust in both Wen Rou and him was eroding. He warned Wen Rou that as Shan Liang's wife, she would be the first to suffer the consequences, and her show, along with the efforts of everyone involved, was at risk. He presented her with the stark choice: distance herself from Shan Liang or face severe repercussions.

After much deliberation, Shan Liang decided to temporarily separate from Wen Rou to protect her. He told her he wanted them to "separate for a while" and for her to "stay with her parents." Wen Rou was initially confused, thinking he was going on a business trip. When he claimed he had "changed his mind" and wanted to "reconsider their marriage," Wen Rou playfully dismissed it, believing he loved her "more than ever."

She declared her unwavering loyalty, even vowing to kiss him if he turned into a "Frog Prince." Shan Liang then tried to list her "faults" to push her away, criticizing her for intentionally pursuing him, misleading him about his family wealth, and lying about establishing a brand in Italy. Wen Rou skillfully rebutted each point, asserting her actual wealthy background and that she did establish her brand herself.

She defended her online presence as a sign of loving life, her emotional nature as a sign of safety from him, and her closeness with Su Ziguang as merely "spice" in their relationship. Frustrated by her unwavering comebacks, Shan Liang packed a bag, declaring he would move back to his father's house. Wen Rou sarcastically suggested divorce, even offering to sign a divorce agreement and give him all their assets, on the condition that he take her with him.

Ultimately, Wen Rou stopped Shan Liang, reaffirming their wedding vows of enduring "through thick and thin, till death do us part." She acknowledged his valid concerns about Polimoda's future and proposed a plan: a fake divorce to fight back against the public opinion battle, promising to "play to her strengths" and use "public opinion" to her advantage. Shan Liang agreed, cautioning her to be discreet and ensure their "act" was convincing. Their staged divorce quickly took effect.

Shan Liang optimistically called Wen Rou, confident that his "acting" had fooled everyone. However, Jian Jian and Xiao Mei, who overheard him, were not convinced, dismissing it as "another trick" but acknowledging Shan Liang's improved acting skills. Despite their "separation," Wen Rou and Shan Liang continued to meet in secret for dates, heavily disguised with masks and sunglasses. Coincidentally, they ran into Wen Xin and Su Ziguang, who were also on a movie date, similarly disguised.

Su Ziguang attempted to kiss Wen Xin, but she politely rebuffed him, reminding him to focus on the movie. Wen Rou and Wen Xin exchanged knowing glances but publicly denied recognizing each other's companions. Wen Xin subtly warned Wen Rou to stay out of her affairs, promising to do the same. Meanwhile, Xiao Mei spotted Wen Rou with a "mysterious man" (Shan Liang in disguise) and mistakenly believed Wen Rou was cheating on Shan Liang.

Deeply sympathetic to Shan Liang, she reported this to Jian Jian and Zou Jing, all three vowing to support their "abandoned" boss, even offering to forgo their salaries. Xiao Mei then confronted Shan Liang, describing the "handsome" and "tall" man who shared a "similar vibe" to Shan Liang, and how they were "holding hands." Shan Liang, knowing the truth, merely smiled, leading Xiao Mei to worry he had lost his mind due to stress.

Shan Liang, amused, asked Xiao Mei to book a table for him at Aili Restaurant. Later, Jian Jian, believing Shan Liang was heartbroken and eating alone, rushed to Aili Restaurant to comfort him, only to discover Wen Rou already seated with Shan Liang. He realized their "separation" was an act. Wen Rou casually told Jian Jian they hadn't separated, assuming he already knew.

Shan Liang admitted they kept it a secret but differentiated between Han Qing, whom Wen Rou had told, and Jian Jian. Embarrassed, Jian Jian quickly left. In another development, Wen Xin, eager to surpass Wen Rou, visited a bridal shop with Su Ziguang, claiming to seek inspiration for designing bridal shoes, explicitly comparing her aspirations to Wen Rou's achievements.

She feigned disinterest in a wedding dress that caught her eye, but after Su Ziguang cleverly excused himself, she eagerly tried it on. Su Ziguang then reappeared, taking photos of her, which she frantically demanded he delete, but he ran off with the pictures. Back at Polimoda, Wen Rou learned that the online criticism had intensified, slamming both her and Shan Liang as "cheaters" in business and marriage, respectively.

Simultaneously, her show venue was abruptly reported for fire safety violations, including blocked exits and faulty extinguishers, leading to an immediate closure order. The rectification process would take too long, making it impossible to hold the show as scheduled. Wen Rou and her staff noted the striking similarities between this sabotage and the Xunmi crisis, recognizing the coordinated style of the attacks.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Shan Liang investigated Mr. Jiang, the CEO of Runfeng Leather, and discovered his long-standing, close cooperation with Wanli. He confronted Wen Yajun, asking about his relationship with Mr. Jiang. Wen Yajun admitted to knowing Mr. Jiang and offered help with Mr. Jiang's recent engagement issues, but Shan Liang declined. Shan Liang probed further, questioning why Mr. Jiang made the matter so public and what his true intentions were.

Shan Liang observed that Wen Yajun was clearly still upset by Wen Rou's refusal to return to Wanli. After Shan Liang left, Wen Yajun immediately instructed his staff to rent all available venues, offering high prices, specifically to prevent Polimoda from securing a location for their show. He dismissed Polimoda as a "rubbish brand" and declared he would not allow Wen Rou to outperform Wanli.

Meanwhile, Wen Yajun's subordinate confirmed that Xunmi's operations were suspended, Polimoda's backup venues were secured by Wanli, and Mr. Jiang's new company was up and running with Wen Yajun's investment, and Mr. Jiang had promised to maintain the facade of a broken engagement. Witnessing Wen Yajun's actions, Cui Xuelan, Wen Rou's mother, began packing her bags, asserting there was no place for her in the family.

She expressed deep regret for not leaving with Wen Rou years ago and lamented her past compromises, which only brought suffering to her and Wen Rou. She accused Wen Yajun of pretending to support Wen Rou while trying to suppress her. She declared their marriage of convenience could never be truly happy and credited Wen Rou and Shan Liang with showing her what a real partnership was, solidifying her decision to leave him.

Wen Yajun warned her not to return if she left. Wen Rou struggled to find a venue for her show, as all indoor options rejected her requests with various excuses. Shan Liang and Wen Xin arrived simultaneously to break the news: Wen Yajun was the mastermind behind Mr. Jiang's actions. Wen Xin elaborated that Mr. Jiang's leather business had long-standing ties with Wanli, and Wen Yajun had even invested in Mr. Jiang's new company.

Shan Liang confirmed that Wen Yajun orchestrated the venue blockades, leading Wen Rou to realize he was also likely behind the prior fire inspection issue. Wen Rou realized her father was targeting Xunmi because he believed she relied on Shan Liang, and destroying Xunmi would force her to yield. Wen Xin then revealed that Mr. Jiang and Yuan Xiangxiang's engagement was a sham.

Relieved yet surprised, Wen Rou was touched that Wen Xin, her step-sister, was finally on her side, though Wen Xin, ever proud, insisted she was simply seeking fair competition. Shortly after, Cui Xuelan appeared with her luggage, announcing her departure from Wen Yajun, a move that deeply moved Wen Rou, who thanked her mother for standing up for her. Cui Xuelan also mentioned taking all her jewelry with her.

With indoor venues out of reach, Shan Liang suggested an outdoor location. Wen Rou recalled the Manor, a place significant to their love and her dreams. She decided to present the show in a simple, authentic style, tasking Han Qing with contacting the Manor. Wen Rou then shifted focus to Xunmi’s crisis. She identified Yuan Xiangxiang as the weak link and suggested Shan Liang approach her directly. Shan Liang initially resisted this direct approach.

Instead, he devised a plan to meet Yuan Xiangxiang as Xunmi’s CEO and propose finding a more impressive man than Mr. Jiang to "date" her, thereby compelling Mr. Jiang to reveal himself. Shan Liang suggested Su Ziguang as the ideal candidate due to his favorable qualities and trustworthiness, noting that Yuan Xiangxiang had already agreed to this. Wen Rou teased Shan Liang for adopting her "tricks."

Wen Yajun discovered Wen Xin was still with Su Ziguang and furiously demanded she end the relationship, calling Su Ziguang Wen Rou's ex-boyfriend and expressing his embarrassment that Wen Xin would settle for "leftovers." Wen Xin, however, stood her ground, asserting Su Ziguang's sincerity and accusing her father of caring more about appearances and her winning than her happiness. She defiantly refused to break up with him. Later, Su Ziguang tried to comfort an upset Wen Xin.

Wen Rou called Su Ziguang on the phone, discreetly asking if Wen Xin was present. Wen Xin, suspecting Wen Rou's intentions, quickly silenced Su Ziguang and hid under his desk. Su Ziguang lied, confirming Wen Xin's absence, and Wen Rou announced she was coming over. When Wen Rou arrived, she dramatically described her stress-induced illness from preparing for the show, claiming Su Ziguang was the "key ingredient" for her recovery and implying he needed to "sacrifice himself."

Enraged, Wen Xin jabbed Su Ziguang's thigh with scissors from under the desk, causing him to wince. Wen Rou then revealed her plan: Mr. Jiang's fake breakup with Yuan Xiangxiang was causing Xunmi's crisis. Yuan Xiangxiang had agreed to clarify the truth but only if she could meet Mr. Jiang, who was in hiding.

To lure him out, they needed a handsome, successful, trustworthy man to "date" Yuan Xiangxiang, and Su Ziguang was the perfect choice, as Yuan Xiangxiang had already agreed. Su Ziguang repeatedly tried to refuse, but Wen Xin emerged from under the desk, emphatically rejecting the idea and accusing Wen Rou of trying to steal her boyfriend. As Yuan Xiangxiang's video call came in, Wen Rou resorted to emotional manipulation, tearfully recounting her struggles and sacrifices.

Wen Xin, moved by her sister's vulnerability, reluctantly agreed to the plan. Wen Rou executed her plan using two phones: one to coordinate with Yuan Xiangxiang and another to send anonymous tips to Mr. Jiang about Yuan Xiangxiang's "new relationship." Wen Rou brought Su Ziguang to the cinema to meet Yuan Xiangxiang, hoping to provoke Mr. Jiang.

However, Wen Xin, having tracked Su Ziguang via a couple's positioning app, showed up and vehemently forbade him from watching a movie with another woman, especially on their one-month anniversary. Respecting Wen Xin's "bottom line," Wen Rou changed her approach. Later, Mr. Jiang, driven by the tips, arrived at the cinema. He found Yuan Xiangxiang with Wen Rou, who was disguised as a man. Mr. Jiang confronted Yuan Xiangxiang, accusing her of betrayal.

Yuan Xiangxiang demanded he clarify their fake breakup, but Mr. Jiang's continued doubts and accusations – even accusing Yuan Xiangxiang of conspiring with Wen Rou and knowing about his fake bankruptcy – revealed his true self-serving nature. Disappointed and exhausted by his self-serving behavior, Yuan Xiangxiang declared she could no longer distinguish between his interests and her own. Recognizing there was no future for them, she ended their relationship definitively.

With Yuan Xiangxiang's public clarification, Xunmi was vindicated, and Shan Liang's business was restored. Shan Liang and Wen Rou reflected that true love needed no tests, only trust. Shan Liang noted that like Mr. Jiang and Yuan Xiangxiang, they too had initially formed their relationship based on superficial aspects, but unlike them, their love deepened as they truly understood each other. Meanwhile, Wen Xin confronted Wen Yajun, threatening to cancel Wanli's show if he continued to target Wen Rou.

She expressed her desire for fair competition and her own happiness, acknowledging her past envy of Wen Rou and her debt to her for taking Wen Rou's mother's affection. She asserted her identity as Wen Rou's sister, not just his daughter. On the day of Polimoda's Grand Show at Yilang Manor, Shan Liang and Su Ziguang welcomed guests, and Liu Meng opened the highly anticipated event. Wen Rou and Han Qing appeared on stage to give their thanks.

Wen Rou credited Han Qing's unwavering support and partnership for Polimoda's success, even recalling their past disagreements and how Han Qing guided her vision. Wen Rou then emotionally thanked Shan Liang, proclaiming he taught her the true meaning of love – that genuine affection transcends all manipulation and strategies. She acknowledged his silent support and continuous care, which helped her grow. She also expressed gratitude to Ms. Wanli, whose unseen early designs had inspired her to create Polimoda.

After the successful show, Wen Rou affectionately requested a hug from Shan Liang, and in the celebratory mood, Su Ziguang seized the moment to kiss Wen Xin. Simultaneously, Wanli's show ended, leaving Wen Yajun with a hollow sense of emptiness despite its commercial success. Later, seeing the news of Polimoda's triumph, he rushed to Yilang Manor, witnessing the exuberant celebrations. This finally led him to realize the gravity of his mistakes.

Xunmi, now fully recovered, achieved the top ranking in its field. Through their journey, Shan Liang and Wen Rou learned the profound meaning of love. They continued to cherish each other, embracing their imperfections and supporting one another, growing stronger together as they navigated life with mutual understanding and unconditional acceptance.
