After a KTV session, Ji Nian and Zhou Yifei reconciled over drinks, with Ji Nian feeling a newfound closeness and touched by her sister's protective stance against Zhuo Yuan earlier. She shared her joy with Hu Li, expressing how having Zhou Yifei made her feel less alone since their mother's passing. Ji Nian also revealed that she had told Zhou Yifei about Bai Dongchen's feelings, though Zhou Yifei didn't believe it.
Hu Li and Bai Dongchen arrived at the KTV, and Ji Nian subtly hinted for Hu Li to pretend to be drunk so they could leave first. Hu Li, feeling a pang of jealousy, reassured Ji Nian that he would spoil her more than anyone and promised to give her a home.
When Ji Nian playfully suggested Bai Dongchen and Zhou Yifei would be a good match, Hu Li grew more envious, reminding her of Bai Dongchen's past actions and insisting he was a better partner. He then affectionately showed Ji Nian how much he cherished her. Meanwhile, Bai Dongchen romantically celebrated Zhou Yifei's birthday. He softly confessed his feelings to her as she slept. The next morning, Bai Dongchen drove Zhou Yifei to the set, advising her to be prepared for her scene with Lin Shan. Zhou Yifei, still fuzzy from the night before, asked if she had said anything strange, which Bai Dongchen denied. She then probed if he had said anything unusual, which he also denied, claiming he wasn't drunk.
Later, as Bai Dongchen gently applied ice to Zhou Yifei's injured cheek, he urged her not to act impulsively again, stating that those who cared for her would be pained. Zhou Yifei directly asked if he had told her he liked her while she was drunk. Bai Dongchen denied it, suggesting she might have been hallucinating. When she pressed him about his feelings after knowing each other for so long, he only stated he felt a "good friend" connection.
Upset by his denial, Zhou Yifei angrily told him she no longer needed his care. Separately, Zhuo Yuan approached a hacker in person, offering money to infiltrate Kewen Entertainment's system to find damaging information on Hu Li. The hacker was initially hesitant, citing the low pay for such a high-risk task, but agreed to proceed after Zhuo Yuan provided a deposit and promised more upon success.
On the film set, during a dramatic scene, Lin Shan unexpectedly slapped Zhou Yifei, claiming it was an improvisation to enhance the character's emotions. Zhou Yifei, angered, accused Lin Shan of taking personal revenge. When the director tried to smooth things over, Zhou Yifei demanded to reshoot the scene. In the next take, the situation escalated into a full-blown physical altercation between Lin Shan and Zhou Yifei.
Ji Nian, arriving on set, rushed to intervene but was accidentally slapped by Lin Shan amidst the chaos. Hu Li quickly came to Ji Nian's side, tending to her injury. Ji Nian believed there was more to Lin Shan's hostility and asked Hu Li to investigate. Hu Li later confronted Lin Shan, who admitted that Zhou Yifei had taken the lead role from her best friend by bringing capital into the production, prompting Lin Shan to seek revenge.
Hu Li calmly advised her that professional actors should not let personal grievances interfere with their work. Meanwhile, Ji Nian attended a job interview, which went exceptionally well, securing her a position with a private office and a sea view, much to her delight. However, her excitement was short-lived when she overheard colleagues gossiping, attributing her success solely to her relationship with Hu Li and his influence, leaving her feeling deflated.
As reporters swarmed her, questioning her job search and relationship status, Hu Li appeared and whisked her away to the beach. There, he swapped her uncomfortable shoes for new ones and consoled her, telling her that her worth was not defined by others' opinions and comparing her resilience to beautiful shells that retain their luster despite being trodden upon.
Ji Nian then playfully asked if his presence had disrupted her life, to which Hu Li responded that he was here to stay. Unable to walk due to her aching feet, Ji Nian asked Hu Li for a piggyback ride, and he happily became her "human porter." Later, Hu Li met with Bai Dongchen at Ji Nian's favorite roadside stall. He reflected on how Ji Nian had broadened his horizons, just as he had introduced her to a new world. Expressing his desire to provide her with security and a home, Hu Li revealed his intention to propose to Ji Nian at the wrap-up party.
