The Romance of Hua Rong 2 Episode 15 Recap
> The Romance of Hua Rong 2 Recap
Qin Shangcheng and Hua Rong, who is currently operating under the persona of White Dove, continued their search for the Imperial Eagle. White Dove grew impatient with Qin Shangcheng's seemingly aimless wandering, suspecting he was merely wasting time and not seriously committed to their task. Qin Shangcheng countered, questioning her true objective as well. White Dove secretly intended to use an anesthetic arrow to incapacitate him, allowing her to seize the Rapier. Qin Shangcheng, however, appeared to anticipate her move.
Later, Qin Shangcheng’s subordinates, Qian Dayou and Zhang Xian, attempted a "Visual Stimulus Treatment of Scene Reduction" to jog White Dove's memory. Zhang Xian pretended to be bitten by a snake, calling out to Hua Rong for help. White Dove, seeing through the act, scathingly called them "idiots" and "maniacs," rendering their efforts ineffective. Qian Dayou, undeterred, assured Qin Shangcheng that he had an "absolutely reliable" backup plan, prompting Qin Shangcheng to grant him one more chance.
Meanwhile, Chi Hong confronted Duanmu Bai about Xiaoxie’s mysterious disappearance from Sheng Xin Hotel and her sudden memory recovery. Duanmu Bai deflected, stating it was none of Chi Hong’s concern. Chi Hong insisted on her right to know, reminding him that Xiaoxie was her sworn sister and accusing him of hiding something. She challenged him to look her in the eyes and allow her to feel his heartbeat as he answered her question: was Xiaoxie his fiancée?
Duanmu Bai's heart raced under her touch, and he quickly pushed her hand away, calling it a "boring trick." Chi Hong, observing his discomfort, accused him of having a guilty conscience. Exasperated, Duanmu Bai ended their conversation, saying they would continue searching for the Imperial Feather the next day, and Chi Hong declared she would go alone. Qin Shangcheng and White Dove later arrived at a wind chime tree.
Qin Shangcheng recalled Qian Dayou's advice about using cherished objects to awaken memories and remembered a past promise to Hua Rong that he would appear whenever she rang the bell. White Dove seemed to react to the wind chimes, experiencing fragmented memories. Qian Dayou and Zhang Xian, hidden behind the tree, were ringing bells, believing their "Scene Stimulus Treatment" was working. However, Chi Hong discovered them and confronted them angrily.
In the commotion, White Dove tried to shoot an arrow at Qin Shangcheng, but he dodged, and the anesthetic arrow struck Chi Hong instead, knocking her unconscious. Back at the inn, a recovered Chi Hong accused Qian Dayou and Zhang Xian of tricking her, punching them again when they evasively denied it. Qin Shangcheng, meanwhile, feigned drunkenness outside, calling out "Rong, I'm sorry." White Dove, hoping to find the Rapier, approached him, but he didn't have it.
She then entered his room and found familiar throwing knives and a portrait. Qin Shangcheng followed her, telling her, "Now, you may remember that you are Rong." He presented his Mermaid Jade Pendant, explaining it was their love token and that she wore an identical one. White Dove, however, recalled Duanmu Bai's earlier claim that the jade pendant was "their" engagement token, and she angrily rejected Qin Shangcheng, calling him despicable.
Later, Chi Hong summoned Duanmu Bai to her room, where she performed a dance, attempting a "honey trap" to extract the truth from him. Duanmu Bai initially resisted, telling her she had "the charm of a fox" but was "not a master yet," and therefore ineffective on him. He left, but his changed expression outside suggested he was more affected than he let on.
Qin Shangcheng, growing desperate, was convinced by Qian Dayou to try a "Desperate Stimulus Treatment," a long-lost method. This involved making the amnesiac person witness their loved one in dire peril to intensely stimulate their brain and restore memory. White Dove, still under Duanmu Bai's influence, set a trap, believing Qin Shangcheng "will be doomed," and led him to a suspected Imperial Eagle's nest in a cave.
Qin Shangcheng, aware of her trap but willing to gamble, deliberately fell into it. Seeing him in danger triggered Hua Rong's memories, particularly of her own fall from a cliff. She remembered Qin Shangcheng and bravely jumped in to save him. Once safe, Hua Rong revealed that after her fall at Mermaid Bay, she was found by Chi Hong and not truly amnesiac.
Instead, she had been "hypnotized" by the man behind Duanmu Bai, who forced a "non-existent memory" of being White Dove into her mind. She explained that she and White Dove now co-exist in her body, with White Dove often suppressing her true self, and she feared reverting back if she slept. Qin Shangcheng vowed to find the culprit and restore her fully, and Hua Rong expressed her faith in him. They then shared a tender moment, admiring fireflies.
However, after falling asleep in the trap, Hua Rong did indeed revert to the White Dove persona. She angrily confronted Qin Shangcheng, accusing him of being a "Lothario" and denying she was Rong. Qin Shangcheng's men, confused, discussed her dual identity. Chi Hong, meanwhile, had interrogated Qin Shangcheng's men, learning Hua Rong's true identity as Qin Shangcheng’s wife.
Realizing this, Chi Hong declared Qin Shangcheng "out of her list," unwilling to pursue her sworn sister's man, and refocused her anger on Duanmu Bai for his deception. Chi Hong later attempted to tell White Dove her true identity, but White Dove remained adamant that she was White Dove, Duanmu Bai’s fiancée, and accused Chi Hong of being misled.
Qin Shangcheng's men proposed a new plan: since Hua Rong loved Qin Shangcheng and White Dove did not, they should make White Dove fall in love with him too, hoping to merge the two personalities. Qian Dayou tried to win White Dove over by describing Qin Shangcheng as the formidable King Pirate—handsome, rich, and a martial arts master—promising her a life of power.
White Dove, however, found the display "boring" and walked away, reminding Qin Shangcheng of his mission to acquire the Imperial Feather. Qin Shangcheng then tried to appeal to White Dove’s presumed inherent kindness by proposing they care for the Imperial Eagle’s egg, which was close to hatching. However, his men's attempts to use a hen to hatch the egg proved chaotic and unsuccessful.
Frustrated by these failures and White Dove’s continued allegiance to Duanmu Bai, Qin Shangcheng realized he needed outside help. He sought out Chi Hong. Meanwhile, Duanmu Bai and Chi Hong had resumed their search for the Imperial Feather. When the feather fell into a cliff, Chi Hong challenged Duanmu Bai to retrieve it. As he descended, during the struggle, she lost her footing and fell. Duanmu Bai caught her, discovering her secret fear of heights.
A struggle ensued, causing them both to fall further, and Chi Hong accidentally kissed him. Duanmu Bai pushed her away and, finding her unconscious, carried her into a cave, giving her a "Refreshing Pill" for her "poor mental condition." After Chi Hong recovered in the cave, she complained about the bitter pill but acknowledged its invigorating effect. Duanmu Bai told her he had already retrieved the Imperial Feather and they could return.
Later, when Qin Shangcheng approached Chi Hong for help, she, motivated by her pledge to ensure Xiaoxie's happiness and her anger at Duanmu Bai, agreed to assist him with his plan for that night, confident in her judgment of men. Elsewhere, Duanmu Bai discussed Chi Hong with his subordinate, intending to make her "shrink back from difficulties," and subtly reminded White Dove of her mission. Chi Hong also attempted to impose a comical "husband's code" on Duanmu Bai, which accidentally included intimate duties copied from a romance novel, further highlighting their contentious and evolving relationship.
