Having changed into a slightly old-fashioned outfit after an unexpected incident at the hospital, Zhuo Yifeng arrived late at Su Muyun's home. Muyun, who had been anxiously waiting, playfully commented on her unusually styled outfit, calling it "special." Yifeng then asked if he still had a fever, to which he responded that her presence immediately made him feel better.
As they sat down for the candlelit dinner Muyun had meticulously prepared, Yifeng playfully critiqued his cooking, pointing out that the meat was too raw, the vegetables were not fresh, and the portions were too small. Despite her teasing, Muyun responded with gentle promises to improve next time and make more, a surprising change from his usual sarcastic demeanor, which Yifeng playfully acknowledged.
After dinner, as they watched television, Muyun suddenly turned off the screen, plunging the room into darkness and startling Yifeng, who pleaded with him not to scare her. Moments later, romantic fairy lights illuminated the room, and Muyun appeared wearing adorable rabbit ears, dancing gently to music. Yifeng was both amused and deeply touched by this display, finding him endearing as he shed his usual "devilish" persona for a "cute and naive" one, with deep affection in his eyes.
Muyun then approached her, revealing a small rabbit doll he had crafted himself, hidden within a sofa cushion. When Yifeng asked how he made it, Muyun simply stated that if she liked it, anything was easy. When Yifeng expressed her delight, Muyun then asked if she meant she liked him, before leaning in to kiss her. A sudden noise from the bathroom interrupted them, and Muyun went to investigate, discovering that a lizard had escaped.
When Muyun emerged from the bathroom, Yifeng asked if the sewer was blocked. He then announced he had a gift for her, revealing his hand holding a lizard behind his back. Terrified, Yifeng recoiled, grabbing a cushion to shield herself and pleading with him to stay away. Muyun playfully reminded her that she liked lizards, which made Yifeng realize he was behind the questionnaire she had recently filled out.
She quickly apologized for not taking it seriously, assuring him she wouldn't have written such things if she had known it was from him. Muyun looked a little put out, having put much effort into it. To soothe him, Yifeng quickly fed him fruit and told him she genuinely loved everything he had prepared for her. The moment was cut short by an urgent call from the hospital, prompting Yifeng to leave in a hurry, accidentally leaving her bag behind.
Muyun discovered a dress he had gifted her inside the bag and meticulously hand-washed it. Back at the hospital, Yifeng was heartbroken after a young patient, whose oesophagus was pierced by a fish bone, died despite their best efforts. She confided in Professor Thomas, explaining that her initial purpose for studying medicine was simply to save Le Diyin, but she now felt overwhelmed by the constant exposure to life and death.
Doubting her suitability as a doctor, she decided to apply for a temporary suspension from her internship to clear her mind. Later, Muyun brought her some porridge and offered his full support, promising to stand by her no matter what choice she made, which comforted Yifeng in her decision to suspend her internship and reflect. Later, Yifeng and Muyun visited a cake shop.
Yifeng found the cake to be mediocre, commenting that its cream was over-whipped and that her own cakes were superior. Muyun, however, playfully stated that her cakes should only be made for him, indicating he didn't support her opening a shop. Yifeng leaned into him, laughing at his possessiveness. Despite his teasing, they soon decided to proceed, and their own cake shop indeed opened, quickly gaining popularity and having good business.
It was also hinted that Muyun was helping her behind the scenes by managing the shop's official social media account, becoming her "behind-the-scenes hero." One day, Qin Yao visited the cake shop and found Yifeng busily preparing a robot-shaped birthday cake for Muyun, noting that Muyun was busy upgrading his smart home system for a competition. Qin Yao playfully lamented being subjected to their affection, or "dog food," even in Muyun's absence.
Soon after, Le Diyin also arrived, complaining that he had already tasted five of Yifeng's robot cakes that week and suggested she find other tasters. Yifeng, keen to perfect a cake for Muyun's palate, asked Le Diyin for feedback on "boys' tastes," specifically to cater to Muyun's known dislike for overly sweet things.
Le Diyin, noticing Yifeng's hesitation to disturb the busy Muyun, took her phone and sent Muyun a message, suggesting they celebrate his birthday together and hinting at a surprise. Muyun promptly replied "Okay." To Yifeng's dismay, Ouyang Qingxue entered the cake shop with her friend. After ordering a cake, Qingxue's friend immediately began to criticize it, calling it disgusting and questioning Yifeng's ability to run a shop. Ouyang Qingxue chimed in, remarking on her own picky palate.
Yifeng, seeing through their intentions, confronted Qingxue, calling her a spoiled rich girl with nothing but her wealth, and asserting that Qingxue had no true friends, only those who accompanied her for her money. Qingxue retaliated, claiming Yifeng wasn't even worthy of being her "minion" and warned her to stay away from Su Muyun, declaring that Yifeng didn't deserve him and that Muyun's heart had always belonged to her since childhood.
Yifeng fired back, calling Qingxue a lonely and pitiful person cloaked in false pretense and reeking of "disgusting wealth," while praising Muyun's "noble and pure soul." She defiantly stated that Muyun was not someone Qingxue could simply "get." Exhausted by the confrontation, Yifeng declared the order on the house and told them to leave, stating they were no longer welcome in her shop. That evening, Yifeng put the finishing touches on Muyun's robot birthday cake.
She then received a message from him saying he was almost done with his work and would arrive soon. Suddenly, two individuals, one with a microphone and the other with a camera, burst into the shop. They loudly proclaimed to their camera that they had suffered from food poisoning after eating the shop's cakes, accusing the shop of using unclean and spoiled ingredients. Without hesitation, they grabbed the freshly finished birthday cake and smashed it onto the floor.
They then barged into the kitchen, filming and making false accusations about expired cream and moldy fruit. Yifeng bravely confronted them, but they simply told her to "explain to the netizens" and left abruptly. Devastated, Yifeng stared at the ruined cake. Her phone rang, and it was Ouyang Qingxue, who tauntingly asked if Yifeng had received the "surprise," and explicitly revealed she was behind the incident.
Yifeng confronted Qingxue, asking if she knew about Muyun's smart home system project having found funding, to which Qingxue chillingly threatened that Muyun would lose a lot because of Yifeng. Just then, Muyun arrived, saw the destruction, and immediately knelt beside a crying Yifeng. He gently wiped her tears, then picked up a piece of the smashed cake, tasted it, and with a warm smile, told her it was the best cake he had ever tasted.
