As he encountered an obstacle, his phone, placed on a nearby table, immediately vibrated, signifying the success of his experiment and bringing a smile to his face. Meanwhile, Su Nianfeng sat engrossed in a cafe, meticulously organizing Thomas's experiment report on her laptop. So focused was she that she did not notice Muyun's arrival. He gently closed her laptop, questioning her intense dedication.
Nianfeng urged him not to disrupt her, explaining that the report was crucial and would be very helpful for Le Diyin, and she felt compelled to make it perfect. Muyun once more closed her computer, then presented her with a box containing a smartwatch. He informed her it was an artificial intelligence device designed to notify him immediately if she ever found herself in trouble.
Nianfeng closed the box and pushed it back, but Muyun took her hand and fastened the watch onto her wrist. He gave her two choices: either accept it or come home with him. Nianfeng quickly refused to go home with him, citing the long commute to work that felt like a cycling marathon, and expressed her determination to find a place near her company. At the apartment, the roommate introduced her puppy, Du Du, and showed them the available second bedroom, noting that its only drawback was the lack of a window. Later, as Muyun helped Nianfeng move her belongings, he demonstrated how to properly seal a box, teasing her about her lack of common sense. He also spotted a torn shirt and revealed he had already patched it up for her, urging her to respect it. During the move, Nianfeng accidentally pricked her finger. She reflected on his actions, recalling instances where she had deemed him a "jerk" or an "annoying jerk" for teasing her, but admitting that his unexpected acts of kindness, like taking her to the clinic or protecting her during a school event, made it hard to truly dislike him. Monica piled more work onto Nianfeng, leaving her working late into the evening on the Thomas experiment report.
Ouyang Yu noticed her exhaustion and offered to drive her home, but she politely declined, saying she lived nearby. Arriving at her apartment building, she discovered the elevator was out of order. With a weary body, she trudged up the stairs, only to accidentally sprain her ankle. Sitting on the steps, tears welled up in her eyes. Just then, Muyun appeared.
He tenderly wiped away her tears and, despite her protests that she could walk on her own, carried her on his back upstairs, telling her to use her phone to light the way. At her apartment door, as Nianfeng was about to enter, Muyun suddenly stopped her. He confessed his feelings, declaring his love for her and his desire for them to be together. As she closed the door, her heart pounded wildly. A short while later, Nianfeng wanted to discuss something with her roommate, but the roommate, claiming to be busy, asked Nianfeng to walk Du Du instead. Going downstairs, Nianfeng was surprised to find Muyun still there. He reiterated his question from earlier, but Nianfeng tried to change the subject, complaining about mosquitoes and claiming Du Du was tired to make a quick exit.
Muyun, however, stated firmly that he could wait for her answer, giving her time. Later, in Ouyang Yu's office, Monica presented Thomas's investigation report to Ouyang Yu, asserting it was her work and claiming she had been exhausted from writing it for days. Ouyang Yu praised the report as excellent and surprising, and Monica suggested proceeding as planned.
Nianfeng, who had entered the office, confronted Monica directly, questioning how an intern like Monica could produce such a professional report and why the seminar location was set at Tianyi instead of their own research institute. Monica initially refused to answer, but Ouyang Yu intervened, stating it was a good question and he also wanted to know.
Monica then explained that Tianyi had extensive research on dilated cardiomyopathy and comprehensive data on cardiac resynchronization therapy and heart transplantation, which would greatly aid drug development through data sharing. Ouyang Yu then praised Nianfeng for her excellent work on the report. Nianfeng then requested to go to the data room to check for more information, which Ouyang Yu agreed to. Seeing her exhaustion, he suggested she take a week off, which Nianfeng politely declined.
He then warned that he did not want similar incidents to happen again in the future. Soon after, Nianfeng received a call from the hospital informing her that Le Diyin intended to be discharged. She rushed there, imploring him not to give up and insisting that she would find a way to cure him before Thomas's project began.
She later spoke with Dr. Feng, who confirmed Le Diyin's condition was not optimistic, and without a reasonable treatment plan, his outlook was grim. That evening, Nianfeng sat at a roadside food stall, distressed by the doctor's prognosis for Le Diyin. Qin Yao approached her, clearly distraught from a recent breakup with Qi Yuan. He confessed he had intended to grieve alone but was surprised to run into her.
Nianfeng, observing his heartbroken state, ordered ten super-spicy chicken wings for them to silently eat together, calling it her secret weapon to feel better. Later, as Qin Yao walked Nianfeng home, he thanked her, first for having liked him in the past, and second for being there for him during his lowest point. He then gently embraced her. After Nianfeng turned to leave, Qin Yao noticed her white rabbit doll had fallen to the ground and picked it up. The next day, Muyun and Qin Yao played basketball. During a break, as Qin Yao rummaged through his bag, the rabbit doll accidentally fell out. Muyun picked it up, expressing surprise that it was with Qin Yao. Qin Yao explained he had met "Xiao Feng" while taking a walk the previous day, and she had dropped it.
Muyun remarked on the coincidence, noting that Nianfeng hadn't been in a good mood. He then firmly reminded Qin Yao that Nianfeng was not a substitute for anyone, nor was she merely a fallback option. Qin Yao questioned his meaning, but Muyun simply stated he would return the doll to Nianfeng. Nianfeng later visited Liu Zihui.
Liu Zihui noticed the artificial intelligence smartwatch on Nianfeng's wrist and excitedly revealed that Muyun had tirelessly experimented over a hundred times in the lab to create that specific watch. She probed Nianfeng, asking if she felt any affection for him and, if not, offered to take the watch herself, lamenting her own long single status for a certain person. Nianfeng, unsure how to respond, deflected the conversation by excusing herself to the restroom.
Nianfeng later suggested they add each other on WeChat, and Liu Zihui agreed, hinting that Nianfeng could share information with her if anything happened.
