Having spent her last 300 yuan treating Le Diyin to hotpot, Su Nianfeng found herself with an empty wallet. She decided to spend the night on a public bench, only to be roused by a homeless man claiming it as his spot. With nowhere else to go, she tried to sneak into the school dormitory building.
Her attempt to rest on the stairs was thwarted when the dorm madam mistook her for a thief and sent her to the security office. At the security office, Su Nianfeng realized she had forgotten her student ID. However, the dorm madam recognized her and knew she had a younger brother named Su Muyun. The security office called Su Muyun, informing him that his sister had trespassed the girls' dormitory and needed to be picked up.
Su Muyun immediately rushed to the school on his bicycle. Meanwhile, Su Nianfeng also called Le Diyin, who took a taxi to the campus. Upon arrival, Su Muyun tried to take Su Nianfeng home, but she refused, insisting it was his home and that she no longer had one. Just then, Le Diyin arrived, and Su Nianfeng left with him, leaving Su Muyun feeling dejected.
Seeing Su Nianfeng had nowhere to stay, Le Diyin offered his place for a temporary stay, suggesting she could act as his chef, especially since he needed someone with a medical background to look after him. Su Nianfeng reluctantly agreed to stay for two days, treating it as a payment for her stay. The next day, after playing basketball, Qin Yao urged Su Muyun to retrieve Su Nianfeng from Le Diyin's place, but Su Muyun stubbornly refused.
Qin Yao then tried to provoke him, suggesting that Le Diyin was quite charming, refined, and a gentleman, and that his serious illness made him all the more sympathetic, much like a character from a Korean drama. He warned Su Muyun that if Le Diyin and Xiao Feng were to fall deeply in love and have a tragic parting, Su Muyun would surely regret it.
Despite verbally dismissing the idea as impossible, Su Muyun was clearly affected and asked Qin Yao to find Le Diyin's home address. Later, Su Nianfeng prepared a meal at Le Diyin's place. As they were about to eat, there was a knock at the door. Su Nianfeng opened it to find Su Muyun, much to her surprise. She tried to close the door, but he blocked it with his arm and walked in.
Le Diyin also appeared somewhat surprised by his presence. Su Nianfeng accused Su Muyun of trespassing, to which he defiantly told her to call the police. Le Diyin, however, invited Su Muyun to sit down and join them for the meal. Su Muyun surveyed the food, deliberately pointing out that the toast was burnt, the beef was overcooked, and the salad wasn't fresh.
He then picked up a glass of what Su Nianfeng called her "bitter-sweet fruit juice," which she had improved with celery for its cardiovascular benefits, and declared it smelled disgusting. Incensed by his harsh criticism, Su Nianfeng grew angry. Su Muyun pulled her arm, insisting she go home with him. She pulled away, declaring that until the truth was clear, he should not interfere with her life.
She demanded he leave, but he refused, prompting Su Nianfeng to declare she would leave instead and stormed out. Le Diyin urged Su Muyun to sit down so they could discuss how to help Su Nianfeng. Su Muyun then showed him a voice recording given to him by Ouyang Qingxue, expressing his suspicion that it had been tampered with and that the materials she provided might also be false. Le Diyin offered to find a top hacker to analyze it.
A short while later, the results confirmed that the audio track of the recording had indeed been modified. Su Nianfeng returned just after Su Muyun left. She asked Le Diyin what Su Muyun had told him.
Le Diyin, sensing Su Nianfeng's unspoken feelings for Su Muyun, despite her denial, advised her to return home and have a proper talk with the Su family parents, reminding her of their many years of shared affection and warning against trusting only one side of the story. Following Le Diyin's advice, Su Nianfeng returned to the Su family home. Su Muyun's mother was delighted to see her, but Su Nianfeng stated she was only there to retrieve her luggage.
In her room, as she began to pack, Su Muyun repeatedly took clothes out of her suitcase as she tried to put them in. When she picked up a book to pack, he reached for it. In the ensuing tug-of-war, she told him to let go, but he refused, insisting he would never let her leave. Seeing her resolve, he implored her to at least speak with their parents once more, to which she agreed.
In the living room, the Su parents presented Su Nianfeng with a photograph of her and her biological parents, Qin Nianyun and Zhuo Mufeng, explaining that they were childhood friends and had grown up together, even taking their wedding photos at the same time. They shared how they all decided to return to China to start a business, facing many hardships. Su Nianfeng directly asked if they were involved in her parents' car accident.
Su Muyun's mother explained that their two families had entered a business partnership, but a crucial trade secret was accidentally leaked by the Su parents, plunging their company into crisis and eventually leading to bankruptcy. To save the company, Su Nianfeng's parents tirelessly worked day and night to raise funds, and her father ultimately died in a traffic accident due to drowsy driving.
Su Nianfeng pressed for clearer answers, questioning the nature of the leaked secret and whether their deaths were connected to the Su family. Su Muyun’s mother insisted it was a tragic accident that no one wanted. Su Nianfeng, still skeptical, asked why she should trust them. Su Muyun then interjected, revealing that the recording Ouyang Qingxue had given her was edited. He offered to help her find the truth together.
However, Su Nianfeng declined his help, stating she would uncover the truth herself. She thanked them for their years of raising her, vowing never to forget their kindness, but declared that until the truth was fully revealed, she wanted no further connection with the Su family. She bowed deeply to the Su parents before turning and leaving.
Under Ouyang Qingxue's instigation, Monica, a department director and subordinate of Ouyang Yu, began to deliberately make Su Nianfeng's work difficult, openly mocking her for allegedly using connections to get into the company. After work, Su Nianfeng encountered Ouyang Yu in the company corridor. Noticing her low spirits, he personally mixed her a few drinks. After several glasses, Su Nianfeng became somewhat intoxicated. Ouyang Yu helped her lie down on a sofa to rest and unintentionally fell asleep beside her.
Suddenly, Su Nianfeng rose and walked away without Ouyang Yu noticing. While sleepwalking, she wandered onto a busy street. A car suddenly approached, and an electric bike delivery driver, momentarily blinded by the headlights, also rode directly towards her. In a critical moment, Su Muyun rushed forward, pulling her to the side of the road just as the electric bike zipped past. Su Nianfeng awoke, disoriented, looking around without understanding what had just happened.
