Xiao Ming was distraught when Hong Ye chose the traitorous Wu Huan to accompany them to the West Coast, fearing they would be betrayed once again. Deeply hurt that his help was refused, Xiao Ming declared that he would abandon the valley entirely if the group failed to return safely. Meanwhile, as Hong Ye, Xiao Yao, and Wu Huan approached their destination, they encountered a treacherous storm.

Knowing Xiao Yao was terrified of thunder, Hong Ye tenderly covered her eyes and held her close to comfort her. Upon reaching the shore, the group decided to wait for the Treasure Swallower to fall asleep before attempting to enter its lair. Guided by the beast’s thunderous snores, they found a cavern filled with an overwhelming hoard of gold and jewels.

While Xiao Yao was momentarily dazzled by the riches, Hong Ye urged her to stay focused, promising to conjure even more gold for her once his powers were restored. Hong Ye instructed Wu Huan to wait outside, telling him to flee with Xiao Yao if they encountered any danger. However, the Treasure Swallower soon sensed their presence. To distract the massive creature, Xiao Yao offered it a bag of snacks.

Although the beast enjoyed the treat, it complained that the portion was far too small. When it threatened to eat Hong Ye, Xiao Yao desperately claimed he was far too stinky to be edible—even worse than stinky tofu. She then pivoted, charming the lonely beast by telling it they had only come to play games. The Treasure Swallower, having spent centuries in isolation, was delighted. They began a game of pitch-pot, but the monster grew frustrated when it repeatedly missed.

It barked at Hong Ye to act as a servant and retrieve the arrows. To find a way to leave, Xiao Yao criticized the beast’s collection as old and broken, convincing it to let her go buy modern toys and tools to make the cave more fun. Sensing that Hong Ye was the girl’s most precious treasure, the beast agreed to let her leave while keeping him as a hostage.

While Xiao Yao was away, the monster taunted Hong Ye about his lack of spiritual power, but Hong Ye steadfastly vowed to guard Xiao Yao with his life. Xiao Yao returned with an array of new entertainment, including dice and shadow puppets. She taught the beast these games and refused any gold in return, insisting that the fun they shared was not a business transaction.

Hong Ye watched them play, feeling a childish sense of jealousy as the beast became increasingly fond of her. Later, Xiao Yao took the Treasure Swallower outside to fly kites. Experiencing the world's beauty after ages of confinement moved the beast deeply. Recognizing the duo’s sincerity and the bond they shared, the monster decided to entrust them with the Sky Stone.

Xiao Yao promised to return the stone once Hong Ye’s power was restored and to return to play with the beast again. Meanwhile, in the capital, the situation turned bloody. Heiwu managed to survive the refining furnace and escaped, slaughtering many guards during his flight. The Emperor was enraged by the Feiyu Guard’s failure to secure the Yuli Spring or contain the demon.

He issued a final imperial decree: the guards had one month to purge the kingdom of all demon threats. Failure would result in the execution of their entire clans. Back at the Demons' Valley, Hong Ye and Xiao Yao used the Sky Stone to uncover the secret of the spell.

They learned that the Heavenly Mother had once used the Heart-Burning Incantation to reverse time to the beginning of creation, seeking her younger self to reclaim her primordial spirit and restore her magic.
