In the flower sea of the Realm of Mist and Void, Lu Pianpian somberly buried a woman's garment in the soil, lamenting that this beautiful expanse was the ultimate destination for all women in the realm. To her, every woman who arrived would eventually wither and become part of the earth, a fate she felt she could not escape. Nearby, Xiao Yao continued her relentless task of watering the flowers, wondering if the work would ever end.

Her toil was interrupted by Lu Pianpian, who informed her that it was the day of the trial. Realizing she was late, Xiao Yao rushed to join the other women. The fairies overseeing the newcomers explained that Immortal Lord Suimeng had granted sanctuary to those who had been abandoned or bullied by men in the human realm. However, the realm did not harbor idle people; everyone was expected to learn domestic skills like cooking and laundry.

This news caused an immediate stir among the women, many of whom were young ladies from official families who had never performed manual labor. They looked down on the ordinary ingredients provided, missing the delicacies of their former homes. When the trial began, the women had to declare the dish they intended to prepare, with the rule that no two people could make the same thing.

Xiao Yao originally thought of making flower pastries, but her friend Da Li quickly claimed the dish for herself. A chaotic scramble for ingredients followed, as the ladies fought over eggs, fish, and cabbage. Guided by the spiritual consciousness left by Hong Ye, Xiao Yao managed to declare that she would make Topping Noodles. However, the kitchen soon turned into a scene of disaster as the inexperienced noblewomen struggled with the stoves.

During the chaos, Xiao Yao attempted to help Da Li decorate her pastries, but Da Li harshly rejected her, throwing the decorations aside. Da Li confessed her deep-seated jealousy, noting that since Xiao Yao’s arrival in the Valley of Thousand Demons, everyone—including the spirits and the Demon King—had been drawn to her. Da Li felt she had become a mere shadow, a green leaf meant only to make Xiao Yao shine.

Declaring their friendship over, Da Li insisted she would win her place in the realm alone. Despite the heartbreak, Xiao Yao had no time to grieve. With the clock ticking, she followed the spirit's instructions to prepare her noodles. The process was fraught with difficulty. Xiao Yao struggled to slice the eel and manage the batter. In the heat of the moment, the ingredients were burnt, leaving her with a ruined dish.

Thinking quickly, she decided to serve a simple bowl of Yangchun Noodles instead. When the results were presented at Linghua Palace, many elaborate dishes were called forward, but it was Xiao Yao’s humble noodles that stood out. Using her wit, she explained to Immortal Lord Suimeng that the noodles represented sincerity. she shared a story about how she once cooked this simple dish for her father when he was deathly ill, and her sincerity had seemingly helped him recover.

Suimeng was impressed by her story and the taste, allowing both Xiao Yao and Da Li to remain for the next trial. Meanwhile, Hong Ye was suffering in the dungeons, resisting the effects of the Heart-Devouring Poison. Lu Pianpian watched him, puzzled by why the powerful Demon King would endure such agony for a month rather than succumb and become a mindless puppet. Hong Ye remained defiant, refusing to abandon his feelings for the human woman he loved.

Lu Pianpian argued that human nature was fickle and that only by letting go of desire could one reach true enlightenment. She urged him to serve the Immortal Lord by luring more humans to the realm to provide the essence needed to sustain Suimeng's power. Hong Ye was later forced to guide a ship of humans searching for the celestial mountain and the Yuli Spring.

He watched as they sacrificed their own companions in their greedy pursuit of immortality, realizing their obsession was unstoppable. Lu Pianpian pointed out that these humans were leading themselves to their own destruction; the trials in the realm were meant to test their humanity, but their greed always led them to stay and perish. Back in the flower sea, Xiao Yao suddenly felt a wave of extreme cold, realizing that Hong Ye must be suffering.

She tried to warm the Dreamshard spirit, whom she called Little Leaf, with her hands. Using the last of its strength, the spirit summoned Hong Ye’s primordial spirit for a brief meeting with Xiao Yao. Hong Ye explained that his previous coldness was merely an act to protect her from the Immortal Lord's suspicion. He warned her that the second trial would be far more dangerous than the first and urged her to be extremely cautious. Amidst the tension, Lu Pianpian received a spiritual ointment from Suimeng to finally restore her scarred face.
