Xiao Yao watched in distress as a vengeful spirit forced Da Li to play a zither until her fingers were bloodied and raw. Recalling Hong Ye's teaching that spirits fear fire, Xiao Yao lured the ghost toward her while Da Li prepared the Wind-Control Technique. Their combined efforts successfully incinerated the spirit. While most of the survivors were indifferent toward Xiao Yao, a clumsy girl named Huang Ying remained steadfast in her trust.
When four doors opened, the group split up but eventually reunited in a courtyard filled with bizarre mechanisms. \n\nGuided by cryptic hints from Little Leaf, Xiao Yao realized the stone statues in the courtyard represented five human vices: jealousy, vanity, greed, sloth, and schadenfreude. The formation amplified these negative traits, causing the noblewomen to bicker over status and possessions. Xiao Yao briefly succumbed to envy toward the wealthy women but was quickly snapped back to reality.
She realized that if the statues were allowed to move to their designated spots, they would all perish. To break the spell, she commanded everyone to close their eyes and focus on their happiest memories and the people they loved most. This successfully calmed the mechanism, and the final string appeared on the zither. \n\nHowever, a haunting melody soon revealed a grim requirement: one life had to be sacrificed for the rest to live.
The women decided to draw sticks, and Huang Ying drew the shortest one. The group immediately turned on her, arguing that her perceived stupidity made her the most expendable sacrifice. Xiao Yao bravely shielded the girl, declaring that no one, not even the Immortal Lord, had the right to decide who lived or died. In the chaos, Da Li attempted to strike, but the blade shattered before it could cause any harm.
\n\nHuang Ying then revealed her true identity as the original vengeful spirit of the courtyard. Having committed suicide years ago after being relentlessly bullied, she had spent years witnessing only the cruelty and betrayal of newcomers. Xiao Yao was the first person to treat her with genuine sincerity and risk her own life to save her. Having finally experienced true friendship, Huang Ying’s resentment vanished.
She played a final song for Xiao Yao before her soul was finally allowed to enter reincarnation. \n\nFollowing the trial, Lu Pianpian announced the new placements. Xiao Yao was granted the rare honor of serving as Immortal Lord Suimeng’s personal attendant. To everyone’s shock, she refused the position, asking only for Hong Ye's release. Lu Pianpian denied the request and sent her back to the flower sea, giving the attendant role to Da Li instead.
Da Li later confronted Xiao Yao, frustrated that her friend would choose such a difficult path when a better life was within reach. Meanwhile, Bing Zhu urged Lu Pianpian to help him find the Immortal Lord’s true form to save his sister, Tan'er, from the eternal torment of the Ghostly Fire. As Lu Pianpian went to check on Tan'er, Immortal Lord Suimeng finally manifested before her, revealing he had known of her wavering loyalty all along.
