As news broke of an incident backstage, Lu Fei Er tried to stop Su Bei from going, reminding her that Lu Nan’s grandma had strictly instructed her not to go to crowded places. Lu Fei Er claimed her role was to care for Su Bei, but Su Bei saw through her intentions, warning her not to interfere with her work or try to cause trouble.
In the backstage area, the designer, An Zi, was furious, exclaiming that she had spent a year designing the dress only for it to be ruined. She threatened that the model, Liu Qianying, would never walk the runway again and demanded an explanation from Eminence, threatening a lawsuit if the show was jeopardized. Su Bei quickly arrived and understood someone had deliberately sabotaged the dress.
She stressed that finding the culprit was less important than fixing the dress and ensuring Liu Qianying could successfully appear on stage to avoid being labeled unprofessional. Seeing the extent of the tear, Su Bei proposed an immediate alteration, as merely sewing it would compromise the design's flow.
An Zi was reluctant to change her "heart and soul" design with such limited time, but Su Bei highlighted the severe consequences for An Zi's career compared to Eminence's loss of just a model and a breach of contract fee with Gu's Group. When An Zi challenged Su Bei to do it herself, Su Bei took up the task, showcasing an unexpected talent in fashion design. The redesigned signature outfit was well-received, and the fashion show was a great success.
After the show, Gu Yan approached Su Bei backstage and apologized. He had just learned that his brother, Gu Chengze, had orchestrated the dress-ripping incident to embarrass Eminence and disrupt its collaboration with Sia by making Eminence appear unprofessional. As Su Bei and Gu Yan were leaving, Lu Fei Er, seeing a rack of clothes being pushed by a staff member, deliberately tripped the staffer, sending the clothing rack toppling towards Su Bei.
Gu Yan managed to block some of the impact, but Su Bei was still injured and rushed to the hospital. Lu Nan’s grandma, upon hearing the news, rushed to the hospital, anxiously asking about Su Bei and her "baby." The doctor informed them that Su Bei only had superficial wounds, was not pregnant, and merely needed some comfort due to shock. Angered by this revelation, Lu Nan’s grandma's attitude towards Su Bei immediately turned cold and critical.
Lu Nan arrived and quickly intervened, claiming that faking the pregnancy was his idea. The shock caused Lu Nan’s grandma to faint. As Su Bei apologized, Lu Nan comforted her, assuring her they would apologize to his grandma together once she recovered. Meanwhile, Gu Yan confronted Lu Fei Er at the hospital. He revealed her original name was Wang Ying, and recounted how she, then "Xiao Yingzi," was an exceptionally cunning child at the orphanage they both grew up in.
Lu Fei Er denied being Wang Ying, insisting Gu Yan had mistaken her for someone else. Lu Nan also found Lu Fei Er and, frustrated by her actions, told her to either go abroad and never return or find someone to marry. He pulled away from her grasping hand and left without looking back. Undeterred, Lu Nan decided to formally confess his feelings to Su Bei.
He called her, confirming her adherence to a conservative dress code for her upcoming live interview and inviting her to Yunxi Restaurant for a sweet surprise after the broadcast. Su Bei agreed, playfully calling him "Mr. Jealousy." Later, Lu Fei Er, still at the hospital with Lu Nan’s grandma, attempted to console her. Lu Fei Er then called Su Bei, asking her to bring the album to the hospital at Lu Nan’s grandma's request. While searching Lu Nan's wardrobe for the album, Su Bei discovered a catalog for the fragrance brocade, which Lu Fei Er had secretly planted there. Recalling previous evidence, all signs pointed to Lu Nan's involvement in Auntie Lan's incident. Although she struggled to believe it, the facts seemed undeniable.
Ye Ting confirmed that Qiao Yufeng was indeed "Qiao Qiao," and the deposit for the fragrance brocade had circulated back to Eminence, further strengthening the suspicion against Lu Nan. Just as Su Bei and Ye Ting were discussing these troubling discoveries, a call came from the hospital: Auntie Lan was in critical condition. At the hospital, Su Bei was devastated and enraged upon receiving the critical illness notification for Auntie Lan, who had raised her like a daughter.
Believing Lu Nan’s actions were the cause, she resolved to expose him during her live interview. As the interview began, Su Bei started to declare her intention to divorce Lu Nan, mentioning their seven-year separation due to incompatibility.
However, Ye Ting, having just received new evidence—a photo of a man who drove an Audi at Auntie Lan's factory on the day of the fire, now identified as Gu Chengze's subordinate—realized Lu Nan might be innocent and that Gu's Group was likely involved. Ye Ting quickly pulled the plug, interrupting the live broadcast. When the broadcast resumed, Su Bei changed her narrative, affirming her trust in Lu Nan and declaring him her partner and lover for life.
Meanwhile, Lu Nan, who was meticulously preparing Yunxi Restaurant for his romantic proposal to Su Bei with fresh roses, received a text message, falsely informing him that Su Bei had returned to avenge Auntie Lan and destroy both Eminence and him. Lu Nan was heartbroken, feeling his love and efforts meant nothing to Su Bei.
Su Bei rushed to the restaurant, having just learned from Ye Ting that the man linked to Auntie Lan's factory fire was indeed Gu Chengze's associate, making her feel foolish for suspecting Lu Nan. She found Lu Nan alone. Upon seeing her, Lu Nan, his eyes filled with bitterness and sarcasm, stood up to leave. Su Bei tried to stop him and explain, but a deeply hurt Lu Nan confronted her.
He declared that he had imagined countless reasons for her return, even revenge, but never that she would treat him as a suspect. He revealed his plans to tell her how much he still loved her despite seven years apart and how his heart would always remember her even if his mind forgot, but now, he felt only mockery.
As he turned to go, Su Bei desperately asked if his past actions, like protecting her in the bar and preserving Eminence while she was in a coma, were sincere or merely calculated schemes. Her question, confirming his fears about her suspicion, was the final blow. Unable to bear the pain, Lu Nan walked away, leaving a weeping Su Bei behind.
