My Eternal Star Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Lin Xiaodi, a 21-year-old fashion designer, recently left UMC, a company many aspired to join, deciding to embark on a new and uncertain path. She is deeply passionate about beautiful things within traditional Chinese culture, particularly Hanfu, which she believes possesses a unique charm despite its niche appeal. She declared her intention to popularize Hanfu across the globe.
One day, while carrying her handmade potted plants, Lin Xiaodi was abruptly crashed into by Lu Yuheng, an acclaimed e-sports player known as Lu Shen, who was attempting to evade his fans. Her potted plants shattered, infuriating her. She started to scold him but was momentarily stunned by his good looks. His assistant, Liu Yan, quickly offered monetary compensation.
Lin Xiaodi stated that an apology from Lu Yuheng would suffice, but he coldly offered her a hundred yuan as a "tip." Enraged, she crumpled the money and threw it back at him, warning him to learn proper etiquette and watch where he was going, adding that if there was a next time, he wouldn't even be worth that amount.
Not long after, Lin Xiaodi’s best friend, Han Ruibing, a self-proclaimed fan of good-looking guys, pleaded with her to get an autograph from Lu Shen of The Peak game. Lin Xiaodi discovered to her dismay that Lu Shen was none other than the arrogant Lu Yuheng. Lin Xiaodi approached him, introducing herself as a fashion designer for The Peak game.
Lu Yuheng recognized her and immediately became hostile, criticizing her lack of an employee ID and insulting both her and her friend, stating that people like them flock together. He declared his discomfort breathing the same air as her and demanded she leave immediately, telling her to close the door on her way out. This encounter further fueled Lin Xiaodi's existing resolve to promote traditional Chinese culture, a path she had already decided upon after leaving UMC.
Lu Yuheng, through exceptional skill and relentless effort, became the first Chinese player to win The Peak World Championship. Despite having the opportunity to remain in London for specialized training and join prestigious international clubs, he declined. He was determined to lead a Chinese e-sports team to rewrite the landscape of The Peak and ensure a Chinese team proudly stood on the international champion's podium.
His assistant, Liu Yan, expressed concern about how Team Jiesa, whom Lu Yuheng had represented in the international league preliminaries, would react to his decision, especially since Mr. Zheng of Jiesa was considered cunning. Upon returning to China, Lin Xiaodi found her new apartment's toilet clogged. She tried calling building management, but Mr. Zhang informed her that maintenance would not be available until much later in the morning (after 8 AM, as it was only 5 AM).
Facing an urgent need to use a toilet due to her menstrual period, she decided to introduce herself to her new neighbor, armed with a gift of homemade cookies, hoping to borrow their bathroom. To her astonishment, her new neighbor was Lu Yuheng. He immediately accused her of stalking him from the UK, a notion she found ridiculous, though she admitted their repeated encounters were an uncanny coincidence. Despite his protests, she desperately forced her way into his bathroom.
Once inside, Lin Xiaodi realized she had locked herself out of her own apartment. Her only spare key was with her friend, Zhao Muran, a public figure she affectionately called "Narcissistic Ran," who was on a filming set and said he would take an hour to arrive. When she tried to ask Lu Yuheng if she could wait at his place for an hour, he flatly refused, stating his apartment was not a shelter and he needed to rest.
Desperate, Lin Xiaodi proposed a deal: she would clean all the glass on his balcony in exchange for staying for an hour. Lu Yuheng countered, demanding she clean all the glass in his apartment and the sofa she was sitting on, all within a week. She agreed to the terms but negotiated to only clean the balcony glass that day due to her period, promising to complete the rest later.
Later, while Lu Yuheng was out of the room, a famished Lin Xiaodi, feeling tired from battling with the toilet and cleaning, ventured into his kitchen and cooked instant noodles using his cookware. Lu Yuheng discovered her, furious that she had broken their agreement by exceeding her permitted activity area and using his personal items. Lin Xiaodi pleaded that she was starving, even offering to pay for the food.
They eventually struck another deal: she would eat, then wash the dishes and clean the kitchen, and also buy new replacements for the used bowl and chopsticks, plus the cost of the instant noodles and an egg. She convinced him to try her noodles, claiming she could make instant noodles taste extraordinary. Zhao Muran finally arrived at Lin Xiaodi's apartment complex.
After a terse phone call with Lu Yuheng, during which Lu Yuheng mentioned Lin Xiaodi was asleep, Zhao Muran became suspicious and protective, warning Lu Yuheng not to harm her and asking if they were "already living together." Zhao Muran then took Lin Xiaodi's key, planning to hold onto it to prevent future mishaps.
In an attempt to be helpful, Zhao Muran tried to fix Lin Xiaodi’s clogged toilet himself, but ended up accidentally smashing it, causing water to flood her apartment. Lin Xiaodi was exasperated, questioning her judgment for letting him fix anything. Zhao Muran tried to explain that the old toilet broke on its own and he couldn't find the water valve, also mentioning he didn't want to wake her or risk being photographed as a celebrity in a wet state.
Despite his clumsy explanations and a cut on his hand, Lin Xiaodi scolded him for not calling professional help or using online repair services. She then gently bandaged his injury, playfully "breaking up" their friendship over his incompetence, joking that "true friendship is tolerating your idiocy for years, but now I'm tired."
Meanwhile, at a press conference celebrating Lu Yuheng's World Championship victory, Miss Su, an acquaintance, attempted to get his attention and make plans for a celebratory dinner, but Lu Yuheng politely declined. The CEO of Jiesa, Mr. Zheng, officially congratulated Lu Yuheng on behalf of China for his achievement. He then announced that, in light of Lu Yuheng's outstanding performance, Jiesa International E-Sports Club had decided to formally sign him and restructure their team around him. However, Lu Yuheng publicly rejected Jiesa's offer, reaffirming his independent ambition.
Episode 2 Recap
Jiesa E-Sports Club, through Mr. Zheng, announced their decision to formally sign Lu Yuheng, a renowned e-sports prodigy, and reorganize their team with him at the forefront. However, Lu Yuheng calmly stated that he would not be signing with Jiesa, as his contract had expired and he had no intention of renewing it.
He indicated that this was his final act of friendly support for the club and that he would not be attending their celebration party, wishing everyone success in the future. His assistant, Liu Yan, clarified that Lu Yuheng appreciated Mr. Zheng’s support but would not continue working with the team.
A furious teammate, Shao Hai, accused Lu Yuheng of arrogance and vowed to defeat him in any future matches, to which Lu Yuheng simply replied, "You're free to challenge me at any time." Later, Su Nian confronted Lu Yuheng, questioning his refusal to sign with Jiesa and arguing that he was sacrificing his future. She emphasized that as an e-sports prodigy, only Jiesa could help him realize his dreams. Lu Yuheng responded that he might simply lack ambition.
Su Nian acknowledged his desire to form his own team but highlighted the immense challenges of finding investors and top players. She warned him that the city qualifiers were imminent, and without Jiesa, he would be ineligible to compete. She then offered to terminate her own contract with Jiesa and assist him with his team if he desired. Lu Yuheng thanked her but politely declined.
Liu Yan intervened, reminding Su Nian of Lu Yuheng’s aversion to being touched and that they had another appointment. Su Nian, respecting his decision, expressed her hope for a lasting friendship and still regarded him as the greatest man in her heart. Meanwhile, Lin Xiaodi faced a housing crisis. Her toilet had broken, causing a leak that damaged the downstairs ceiling and resulted in substantial repair and compensation costs, making her apartment uninhabitable.
Her friends, Han Ruibing and Zhao Muran, came to visit. Zhao Muran, a popular celebrity, criticized Lin Xiaodi’s Hanfu attire, asserting it was culturally inappropriate. Han Ruibing, interjecting, jokingly called Zhao Muran "Narcissistic Ran" and reminded him of his past failures to fix anything, including various items from their college days and her father’s clinic recliner, implying he was responsible for Lin Xiaodi’s current plumbing predicament. Zhao Muran defended himself, arguing that everyone makes mistakes and can improve.
The conversation shifted to Lin Xiaodi’s accommodation. Zhao Muran offered his spare apartment, but Han Ruibing immediately dismissed the idea, warning that constant paparazzi surveillance outside his home would expose Lin Xiaodi to intense public scrutiny. Han Ruibing then offered her own home, but Lin Xiaodi was hesitant, citing the frequent and dramatic arguments between Han Ruibing’s parents. Lin Xiaodi expressed a preference for staying in a hotel to avoid burdening her friends.
The estimated cost for repairs and downstairs damages was over 50,000 yuan. Han Ruibing suggested Zhao Muran should cover the expenses due to his wealth and responsibility for the damage, but Lin Xiaodi refused, stating she couldn’t ask him for money since she had sought his help. Zhao Muran then dramatically offered to buy her a new apartment or even marry her to provide for her legitimately. Lin Xiaodi rejected his proposals, firmly stating her independence.
Han Ruibing later confirmed she would prepare a room for her, as her parents were unlikely to quarrel that night, and Lin Xiaodi agreed to stay at her place. After seeing her friends off, Lin Xiaodi transferred 45 yuan to Lu Yuheng via Alipay to cover previous expenses. Lu Yuheng then appeared at his door, reminding her of her earlier promise to clean all the glass she had broken within a week.
Lin Xiaodi, frustrated, found his concern for glass over her housing situation ridiculous. He coldly stated that her apartment problems were irrelevant to him. Resigned, Lin Xiaodi began cleaning, muttering about Lu Yuheng’s "selfish and heartless" nature, but also acknowledging her own "kind and benevolent" decision not to owe favors. She wondered aloud how someone with such an "awful temper" could attract fans for live streaming. Curiosity piqued, she edged closer to his screen.
To her astonishment, Lu Yuheng, known as "Whiz Lu," who had recently won "The Peak Individual World Championship" and was celebrated as a national hero, was indeed live streaming an e-sports game, with over a million viewers. She also realized she had designed the in-game character outfits and hair accessories for "The Peak." Startled by her sudden presence, Lu Yuheng looked up, causing Lin Xiaodi to stumble. Both lost their balance and fell, resulting in a cut on his hand.
Emotionally agitated, he rejected her attempts to help and sternly ordered her to leave his apartment. As Lin Xiaodi left, she reflected on how her attempt to leave a positive impression had backfired. She tried calling Han Ruibing, who confirmed her parents were still fighting, with her mother having left home, and Han Ruibing needing to help her father search. Lin Xiaodi then attempted to call Zhao Muran, but his phone was unavailable, leaving her with nowhere to go.
Back at his apartment, Lu Yuheng suddenly suffered a severe stomach ache. He took medicine but refused Lin Xiaodi's assistance, again ordering her to leave. As she prepared to depart, the power abruptly went out, plunging the apartment into darkness. Lu Yuheng, who suffered from nyctophobia, collapsed in fear, grabbing Lin Xiaodi and desperately begging her not to leave.
Realizing his phobia, Lin Xiaodi sat beside him, gently reassuring him that darkness was not to be feared as long as there was light in his heart. She sang "Little Star," a lullaby her mother used to sing to calm her during nightmares, and Lu Yuheng gradually relaxed. The property manager called, informing them that a cable fault meant the power outage would last until 11 PM and that frequent outages were expected over the next few days.
The manager, familiar with Lu Yuheng’s extreme reactions to blackouts, mistook Lin Xiaodi for his girlfriend and expressed relief that she was there to help him. After Lin Xiaodi diffused the manager’s conversation, she noted that Lu Yuheng seemed calmer and suggested she should leave to find a hotel. However, Lu Yuheng clung to her, insisting she stay.
He then accepted her earlier offer to temporarily live with him, but immediately laid out his conditions: high expectations for food and cleanliness, and splitting grocery costs. Lin Xiaodi argued against negotiating terms in such a dire situation, but Lu Yuheng remained steadfast. Lin Xiaodi continued to comfort him, promising to stay. The next morning, Lu Yuheng woke up on the sofa, still holding Lin Xiaodi's hand, and rushed to the bathroom, filled with regret.
Lin Xiaodi then told him she was making breakfast, anticipating another stomach ache. Later, Lu Yuheng returned to his apartment, which Lin Xiaodi had meticulously transformed. Driven by his fastidious nature, he began a thorough inspection. Lin Xiaodi confidently announced that she had cleaned everything immaculately, from the floors to the baseboards, and invited him to inspect. To his surprise, the apartment was spotless, "impeccable" as he thought, leaving him with no complaints.
At dinner, Lu Yuheng presented Lin Xiaodi with an "Apartment Sharing Agreement" and stated that if she accepted its terms, she could stay; otherwise, she would have to leave immediately. Lin Xiaodi read the contract with growing fury, noticing clauses like maintaining a 24-hour dust-free environment and strict prohibitions against "Party B" (herself) touching "Party A" (Lu Yuheng), entering his room without permission, moving his personal belongings, or "assaulting" him.
She accused him of creating terms solely for his benefit, asking if he thought she was a "female pervert." Lu Yuheng defended them as "reasonable self-protection." Lin Xiaodi retorted that she was the one who needed protection and found him excessively rigid. She decided to postpone the argument, opting to eat first and discuss later. However, the peace was short-lived. Lu Yuheng immediately objected to the colorful placemats she had set on the table, demanding their removal.
Lin Xiaodi argued that placemats protected the table, which was necessary since he clearly never used his kitchen, implying his house was merely for show. She accused him of sarcasm, while he retorted that she had made his apartment "gaudy." Lin Xiaodi defended her additions as "adding color to life," calling him bland. Lu Yuheng then gave an ultimatum: either the placemats disappeared, or she did.
Lin Xiaodi, asserting her authority over the food she had bought and cooked, dramatically told him to spit out the food and reminded him that her departure would not benefit him. She challenged him to weigh his options. Lu Yuheng then relented slightly, telling her to sit and eat, ensuring not a single grain of rice was wasted. He suggested that if she didn't want him to see her colorful items, she could store them in her room.
He wondered if female gamers typically possessed such a high "anger value," as other women he had encountered were not like this. Lin Xiaodi later spoke to Han Ruibing on the phone, who apologized for Lin Xiaodi’s continued predicament. Lin Xiaodi assured her that staying with Lu Yuheng was acceptable. Han Ruibing mentioned the substantial repair costs for Lin Xiaodi's apartment, reiterating that Zhao Muran should pay, but Lin Xiaodi again refused, as she had asked him for help.
With limited funds, Lin Xiaodi explained she was managing by buying seeds from Taobao to grow her own vegetables to save money. Han Ruibing, impressed, suggested she consider live streaming to earn money, which Lin Xiaodi agreed to. Han Ruibing then informed her that she couldn’t attend the upcoming traditional art exhibition with Lin Xiaodi because her parents were fighting again, and she needed to help her father find her mother who had left home.
Lin Xiaodi arrived at the "Happy Bazaar" using Amap, surprised by the app's ability to find such a unique spot. She overheard young fans enthusiastically praising Zhao Muran for his support of traditional culture, calling him handsome and perfect. Lin Xiaodi couldn't resist advising them against excessive celebrity worship, suggesting Zhao Muran was just an ordinary person, which upset the fans.
Suddenly, Zhao Muran himself appeared, wearing a green hat from a stall, playfully chiding Lin Xiaodi for her earlier comments. He revealed Han Ruibing had told him she was there and jokingly referred to Han Ruibing as "Belly Bing." Zhao Muran was shocked to discover Lin Xiaodi was living with a man. He loudly insisted she move out immediately and stay at his place. Lin Xiaodi refused, fearing the intense media scrutiny.
Zhao Muran proposed she disguise herself as a housekeeper, but Lin Xiaodi still declined. He then offered his villa, promising to evict Zhao Jinxuan, but Lin Xiaodi maintained she was an adult capable of managing her own life. Zhao Muran expressed his dismay, arguing that their decade-long friendship should make him her first choice, not a stranger.
Lin Xiaodi explained her arrangement with Lu Yuheng was based on "equal exchange" with "no burden," and she didn't want to owe Zhao Muran too many favors. To appease him, she humorously offered to convert their years of friendship into "points" for him to exchange for gifts. Despite her continued rejections, Zhao Muran still found her "cute" and insisted on going upstairs to "just take one look" at Lu Yuheng. Lin Xiaodi, wary of his celebrity status attracting attention, repeatedly pushed him away, urging him to leave. However, he tried to follow her up the stairs as she returned inside.
Episode 3 Recap
Lin Xiaodi arrived home late and apologized, explaining that the market was far away. She offered to cook, but Lu Yuheng, sitting on the sofa, responded coldly, stating it was already 8:03 PM, two hours and three minutes past the ideal dinner time, and anything eaten now would be hard to digest. He then went into his room. Lin Xiaodi was annoyed by his particular nature but decided to eat by herself.
Later, Lu Yuheng found a cup of warm water with a sticky note that read "Drink more warm water." When Lu Yuheng came out to get a drink, Lin Xiaodi, seeing him reach for cold mineral water, stopped him, reminding him that he has a sensitive stomach and shouldn't drink cold water. Lu Yuheng retorted sharply, advising her not to show so much concern for other men if she already had a boyfriend.
He suggested that if her boyfriend found out she was living with an unfamiliar man, he would be upset, and it would put Lu Yuheng in a difficult position. To avoid such trouble, he suggested she move out the next day. Lin Xiaodi was surprised by his misunderstanding and quickly clarified that Zhao Muran was not her boyfriend, he was just kidding, and then joked that no one would date such a "fool."
Reassured, Lu Yuheng finally agreed to eat a little. As Lin Xiaodi eagerly served him food, she accidentally splashed some onto his white shirt. She apologized, remembering his mysophobia, but he simply dismissed it and went to clean his shirt. Lin Xiaodi felt frustrated, wondering why it was so difficult to get along with her housemate.
While Lu Yuheng was showering, Lin Xiaodi suddenly remembered she had left her underwear in the bathroom and stomped her feet awkwardly at the door, hoping he wouldn't see it. When Lu Yuheng emerged, he was holding her underwear on a hanger. He explained that the bathroom was damp and unsuitable for drying clothes, as it could breed bacteria and lead to diseases. He advised her to hang her private items on the balcony and retrieve them before daylight.
Lin Xiaodi humbly thanked him. Soon after, Lin Xiaodi video-called her mother, who noticed she was not in her own home. Lin Xiaodi lied, saying she was staying with a female neighbor because their home's pipe had burst. Her mother cautioned her to be mindful of her underwear, especially not to leave it in the bathroom. Lin Xiaodi then realized her embarrassment wasn't over.
Later, she saw Lu Yuheng lock his bedroom door and felt annoyed, thinking he was being wary of her. The next morning, Lu Yuheng went for his usual run. He noticed a rug outside his door, kicked it away, then realized it was the same design as Lin Xiaodi's and kicked it back. Su Nian, knowing his routine, waited for him at a nearby park.
She inquired about his new team and offered help in securing investments, but Lu Yuheng refused, stating that his company's affairs were not her concern. Su Nian reminded him of their past friendship in the game, but he dismissed it, saying those games were in the past and only happened in the virtual world. When she brought up his missing persons website, he warned her to stop meddling in his affairs.
Su Nian defiantly declared that she would never give up. Meanwhile, Zhao Muran pleaded with Hua to help him get Lin Xiaodi to move out of Lu Yuheng’s house, lamenting his despair at her living with another man. Hua advised him to be mature and prioritize his rising career, but Zhao Muran, obsessed with Lin Xiaodi, insisted on buying a house and giving her a home, implying marriage.
Zhao Muran later invited Lin Xiaodi for dinner, where she only ordered spicy noodles. Seeing her enjoyment, he ordered two more portions for her, causing her to overeat. Lin Xiaodi asked Zhao Muran about mysophobia, and he looked it up, reading out the definition, which made Lin Xiaodi realize Lu Yuheng must be struggling. Despite Zhao Muran's insistence, Lin Xiaodi declined his offer to drive her home, saying she needed to take the bus to cook for Lu Yuheng.
She also reassured him that she had no romantic feelings for Lu Yuheng. Word spread quickly about Lu Yuheng forming Team Eternity, generating considerable buzz online. Jiesa E-sports speculated that Lu Yuheng’s public service through his missing persons website could attract significant investment, as e-sports players involved in philanthropy were rare.
Whiz Hai, anticipating Lu Yuheng's next move to be team competitions, instructed his allies to target and eliminate members of Team Eternity to keep their levels low and prevent them from qualifying for city tournaments.
At Team Eternity’s first meeting, Lu Yuheng introduced himself as the captain, with game ID "Lu Shen," to his new members: Liu Yan, who also handles logistics and plays archers and mages, with the game ID Rock; Song Ming, nicknamed Little Northeasterner, who plays warriors, and whose game ID is also Little Northeasterner; Gu Tong, a Taoist enchanter player whose game ID is Iron Wall and who is nicknamed King of Ambush for his trap-setting skills; Chen Xiaoxu, a support player whose game ID is Nine Skies; and Ma Xiaofeng, a tank who excels at gathering information, with the game ID Dominator Feng.
Lu Yuheng outlined their ambitious goal: to win the international championship. He emphasized that their training would focus heavily on team battles to enhance cooperation, aiming to forge an elite team before the official update of "The Peak" game. To celebrate their formation, Lu Yuheng presented each new member with a set of top-grade professional equipment.
Later, Lu Yuheng received an anonymous call from someone claiming to have information he needed, arranging a meeting for 6 PM at Lingyue Building, room 319. Though Liu Yan offered to accompany him, Lu Yuheng insisted on going alone. He arrived at the building at 5:20 PM, giving himself a 40-minute buffer. Upon reaching room 319, he entered, but as he did, the rolling door abruptly slammed shut behind him, trapping him inside.
He tried desperately to pry it open, but it was too heavy. The lights then cut out, plunging the room into total darkness. Lu Yuheng, who suffers from nyctophobia, began to panic, recalling a childhood trauma of being locked in a dark, foul-smelling place by bullies who called him a "pitiful beggar." His breathing became strained, his stomach started to hurt, and he collapsed onto the floor, trembling at every faint noise.
Unknown to him, Whiz Hai was behind this trap, viewing it as a "congratulatory gift" for Lu Yuheng's new team. On the bus, Lin Xiaodi called Lu Yuheng to ask about dinner. She immediately noticed his strained voice and sense of panic. After some coaxing, he faintly uttered "Lingyue Building." Realizing his distress, Lin Xiaodi rushed to the building, keeping him on the phone.
She tried to calm him, instructing him to close his eyes, breathe deeply, and stay relaxed, assuring him she wouldn't hang up and asking him to tap his phone if he could hear her. Upon arrival, she quickly asked a security guard for directions to him and then tried to ascertain his floor by listening to his phone taps. She located room 319 and began desperately trying to open the heavy door.
She continued talking to him, promising to find a tool. After finding one, she returned, warned him about the loud noise, and then began singing a "roaring version" of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" to distract him. She told him that as long as there was light in his heart, darkness was not something to be afraid of.
Episode 4 Recap
As Lin Xiaodi opened the door to the darkened room, the sudden light illuminated her face, stirring a faint memory within Lu Yuheng of a small girl who had once saved him in his childhood. When Lu Yuheng fully awoke, he saw Lin Xiaodi's face close by and even managed a smile before suddenly sitting upright, remembering his predicament. Lin Xiaodi, anticipating his gratitude, imagined herself as a glorious hero in his eyes.
However, Lu Yuheng's first words were an indignant inquiry about why she had taken off his clothes, leaving Lin Xiaodi exasperated. She declared that she would cure his germophobia that very day. After a brief argument where Lu Yuheng indignantly asked how a girl could take off a man's clothes without permission, Lin Xiaodi, unfazed, told him he wouldn't be allowed to shower, vowing to rectify his habits.
Lin Xiaodi prepared porridge for him, but Lu Yuheng refused it, claiming he didn't like eating in his room as it was unhygienic. She chided him for being weak and picky, reminding him that he was lucky it wasn't her father, who would force-feed him. Their argument was interrupted by a knock, and Lin Xiaodi found Zhao Muran at the door. Zhao Muran, jealous of Lin Xiaodi's attentiveness to Lu Yuheng, stormed into the room.
Lu Yuheng, seizing the opportunity to provoke him, made suggestive comments about Lin Xiaodi changing and washing his clothes. Lin Xiaodi, furious, pulled Zhao Muran back, accusing Lu Yuheng of using her to upset her friend. Lu Yuheng defiantly stated his dislike for Zhao Muran and told Lin Xiaodi she was free to move out if she had a problem with it. Lin Xiaodi, deeming him unreasonable, then saw Zhao Muran leave in anger.
Later, Lin Xiaodi got her revenge by giving Lu Yuheng a pink towel, telling him his old one had "accidentally" fallen into the dirty laundry hamper if he preferred that. Lu Yuheng, annoyed but having no other choice, reluctantly used the pink towel. During breakfast, their bickering continued. Lu Yuheng noticed a cut on Lin Xiaodi's hand. She revealed it was due to "someone" who remained ungrateful.
Feeling a pang of guilt, Lu Yuheng offered a sincere thank you for her rescue. Lin Xiaodi, feeling vindicated, graciously accepted his apology and revealed that the special meal had always been meant for him; she had simply wanted to teach him a lesson for his earlier rudeness. As they cleared the air, she mentioned she would be late returning home that day because of a traditional style exhibition.
Meanwhile, Haishen received an update about Lu Yuheng's rescue by a woman while he was unconscious. This confirmed the rumor of Lu Yuheng's nyctophobia, a "fatal flaw" that Haishen intended to exploit at a crucial moment. Back at the house, after Lin Xiaodi left, Lu Yuheng pondered her earlier talk about love luck and wondered if she truly placed a glass of water by her bed.
He investigated her room and indeed found a cup of water, which inexplicably annoyed him. Moments later, Lin Xiaodi realized she forgot her phone and returned. She briefly saw Lu Yuheng in her room, didn't question it, and grabbed a phone, rushing out the door. Unbeknownst to her, she had taken Lu Yuheng's phone and forgotten her entrance ticket for the exhibition.
Lu Yuheng, upon discovering the mix-up and the forgotten ticket, initially grumbled about her carelessness but, with a soft heart, decided to bring her the ticket himself. On his way to the exhibition, Lu Yuheng, who was now carrying Lin Xiaodi's phone, received a call from Lin Xiaodi's friend, Liu Erha (identified as "Liu Erha" in Lin Xiaodi's contacts).
Liu Erha, confused by a man answering Lin Xiaodi's phone, suspiciously questioned Lu Yuheng's identity and his relationship with Lin Xiaodi, accusing him of living with her and flirting. Annoyed by the intrusive questions and the nickname, Lu Yuheng hung up. Upon reaching the exhibition, Lu Yuheng called his own phone, which Lin Xiaodi possessed. Lin Xiaodi answered.
On the phone, Lu Yuheng, having seen the nickname "Mansplaining Addict" assigned to him in Lin Xiaodi's phone, expressed his irritation about it. Lin Xiaodi quickly informed him she was about to go on stage for a performance and would swap phones with him later that night before abruptly hanging up. At the traditional style exhibition, Zhao Muran, who was a special guest, noticed Lin Xiaodi outside, unable to enter.
He discreetly asked Sister Hua to give Lin Xiaodi a ticket without revealing his involvement. Lin Xiaodi browsed the stalls, showing a keen interest in setting up her own, selling handmade hairpins and accessories. However, she learned it required a substantial 5,000 yuan deposit and a two-week approval process, which she couldn't afford.
Unbeknownst to Lin Xiaodi, Zhao Muran, who had been discreetly following her and learned of her desire for a stall, arranged for an event organizer to approach her. The organizer declared her a "lucky participant" whose ticket number matched the event organizer's birthday. She was offered 5,000 yuan and a stall permit if she performed on stage.
Although initially hesitant, fearing she might "ruin" the prestigious event, the mention of the stall permit, which would help her financial situation and house renovation, quickly changed her mind, and she enthusiastically agreed to perform. On stage, Zhao Muran, dressed in elegant Hanfu, delivered a speech as the exhibition's ambassador, emphasizing the revitalization of traditional Chinese culture. He then introduced his surprise dance partner, the "lucky participant," revealing it to be Lin Xiaodi.
Lin Xiaodi, surprised to see Zhao Muran as the guest, found herself dancing with him. During their performance, she stumbled and fell, accidentally landing on Zhao Muran. Moments later, Lu Yuheng rushed onto the stage. He demanded that she leave with him, leading to a tense standoff and argument on stage between Lu Yuheng and Zhao Muran, while Sister Hua desperately tried to remind Zhao Muran of his contract obligations.
Lu Yuheng confronted Lin Xiaodi, asking if she had come to dance with Zhao Muran. She clarified that she was there for the 5,000 yuan prize money and the stall permit, which would enable her to sell her handmade accessories and alleviate her financial difficulties for house renovations. Lu Yuheng, doubting the appeal of her "small things," was met with Lin Xiaodi's passionate defense of her craft, arguing that "smaller things often bring greater consolation." Exasperated, Lu Yuheng took back his phone, effectively washing his hands of the situation and leaving her to deal with it.
Episode 5 Recap
Lin Xiaodi was disheartened, feeling she had narrowly missed the opportunity to secure a stall qualification for the traditional art exhibition despite her best efforts. Although Lu Yuheng had earlier teased her about wanting to be a vendor and accused her of wasting his electricity, he surprisingly presented her with a Stall Qualification Certificate. Overjoyed, Lin Xiaodi spontaneously embraced him.
Lu Yuheng maintained a composed exterior, but later, alone in his room, he secretly savored the lingering feeling of her hug. When Lin Xiaodi brought him some fruit, she caught him in this reverie, making him so flustered that he started speaking incoherently, nervously holding his book upside down. Inspired to further her craft, Lin Xiaodi created a live stream account under the name "Little Fairy Ermu," where she began to showcase her hairpin-making process.
The following morning, Lu Yuheng found her asleep at her work desk, surrounded by her creations. He gently covered her with a blanket, though he muttered to himself about how "dumb" she was for spending an entire night on such "tiny things." Meanwhile, Hua expressed her frustrations to Zhao Jinxuan regarding Zhao Muran's unrestrained behavior, admitting she could no longer control him.
Zhao Jinxuan sternly reminded Zhao Muran of his public persona and the impact his actions had on both his career and the company. Zhao Muran, however, was unrepentant, asserting that he was merely pursuing his passions and refusing to abandon his love for traditional aesthetics or let his life be dictated by others.
When Zhao Jinxuan suggested manipulating public opinion through strategic publicity, like having Zhao Muran visit his female lead's set with gifts, Zhao Muran firmly refused, declaring he was "sick of" playing the "couple game." He dismissed any threats of declining popularity, stating he had already earned enough money. His sole demand to his cousin was the protection of Lin Xiaodi. Lin Xiaodi's stall officially opened at the traditional art exhibition.
After receiving a call about her stall, she prepared herself, and Lu Yuheng, despite his usual coldness, arranged for Liu Yan to assist her and even drove them to the venue, playfully charging twice the normal taxi fare, which Liu Yan offered to cover on Lu Yuheng's "credit." Lin Xiaodi, adopting the nickname "Silly Liu" that Lu Yuheng used for his friend, and Liu Yan bonded over shared complaints about Lu Yuheng's aloofness, unaware that he was within earshot.
Her handmade hairpins quickly sold out, earning her 2,000 yuan. Later, as Liu Yan relaxed, he casually mentioned that Lin Xiaodi might soon earn enough to move out. This sparked a silent panic in Lu Yuheng, who mentally fretted about who would take care of his "hygiene," "meals," and address a "power outage" if she left.
When Lin Xiaodi reached for one of Lu Yuheng's crystal cups to celebrate, Liu Yan hastily warned her that the expensive, branded "luxurious gifts" were extremely important to Lu Yuheng, who was a germaphobe and hated anyone touching his personal items. Yet, to their utter astonishment, when Lin Xiaodi directly asked Lu Yuheng for permission, he simply said, "Sure." Liu Yan, sensing an unusual shift in dynamics, remarked that "something was going on."
Later, as Liu Yan rested, Lin Xiaodi decided to display her colorful Hanfu designs in the spacious living room. While she was enthusiastically showcasing the garments, Lu Yuheng discreetly kicked the table, causing one of the crystal cups to shatter on the floor. Lu Yuheng subtly smirked, observing the scene, while Liu Yan watched with amusement. Distraught and believing she was at fault, Lin Xiaodi immediately apologized and insisted on compensating him.
Lu Yuheng, seizing the opportunity, declared the price to be 1,640 yuan but "generously" offered a 40-yuan "discount" and waived delivery fees, bringing the total to 1,600 yuan. Lin Xiaodi protested the negligible discount and pointed out that it was a gifted item he hadn't paid for. After further negotiation where she offered 1,200 yuan for both cups, Lu Yuheng quickly settled on 1,600 yuan. Liu Yan then facilitated the electronic transfer.
Lu Yuheng, with a satisfied expression, remarked that he hadn't wanted her to pay, but since she "insisted," he commended her for being "a woman of your word." Furious about the incident, Lin Xiaodi went live from her room, passionately recounting how her "devil" landlord, Lu Yuheng, had "cheated" her out of 1,600 yuan for a "worthless" cup that she wouldn't even accept for 160 yuan.
She lamented that after earning 2,000 yuan, buying new materials for her crafts, and purchasing the "expensive fruits and vegetables" her landlord had demanded, she was left with a mere 16 yuan. She concluded her rant by calling him "sick in the head." Unknown to her, Lu Yuheng was secretly watching her stream from his room, chuckling at her dramatic complaints and amusedly wondering if she had found a cheap market to still have 16 yuan left.
After her spirited monologue, Lin Xiaodi showcased the modernized Hanfu she had designed, expressing her ambition to delve deeper into traditional Hanfu culture and knowledge to create more authentic pieces once she gathered the necessary materials. Soon after, Han Ruibing arrived, eager to learn more about the traditional art exhibition and the mysterious man who had appeared on stage.
Lin Xiaodi tried repeatedly to explain that the man was Lu Yuheng, her landlord, and "Whiz Lu," but Han Ruibing, completely captivated by the idea of Lin Xiaodi finding a boyfriend, kept interrupting, excitedly envisioning a "Prince Charming." Frustrated at being unable to fully explain, Lin Xiaodi eventually clarified that she was indeed living with "Whiz Lu." Han Ruibing was ecstatic, calling it "exhilarating" and her "dream," even though Lin Xiaodi described him as a "huge pain in the butt."
Overwhelmed, Han Ruibing insisted on covering all grocery expenses for dinner, just for a chance to "look at him." Meanwhile, Lu Yuheng, who had just returned from a successful arena match with his e-sports team, instructed Liu Yan to clean the studio. Liu Yan, ever the mischievous matchmaker, playfully teased Lu Yuheng about going home to do "something unspeakable with Little Fairy," urging him to "win Little Fairy's heart and have a baby with her."
Lu Yuheng, dismissing these "unhealthy" suggestions, told him to "go to sleep." Back at the apartment, Lin Xiaodi messaged Lu Yuheng, asking permission for Han Ruibing to stay for dinner. Lu Yuheng initially hesitated, but realizing that refusing might cause Lin Xiaodi to move out, and acknowledging that he wouldn't easily find a "better housekeeper," he reluctantly agreed.
However, he imposed strict rules: Han Ruibing was "not allowed to touch my personal items," specifically his "cup," nor was she "allowed to enter my room" or "touch my bed." He then called Liu Yan to join them for dinner, stopping to buy a bag of snacks, but told Liu Yan to claim he had purchased them.
Liu Yan, reflecting on Lu Yuheng's subtle actions, philosophized about openly expressing one's feelings, remarking that Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi "seem like a perfect match." When Lu Yuheng and Liu Yan arrived, Han Ruibing, upon seeing Lu Yuheng, let out a gasp of delight. Lin Xiaodi introduced Han Ruibing, who, already aware of his identity as "Whiz Lu," was completely starstruck. Han Ruibing also gushed over Liu Yan, calling him a "hunk."
Lin Xiaodi tried to apologize for her friend's overexcitement. As dinner commenced, Liu Yan presented the snacks, pretending they were from him. Han Ruibing, beaming, suggested taking a picture for Weibo to commemorate this "historical moment." Feeling empowered, Lin Xiaodi told Han Ruibing she was welcome to visit often "as long as you bring your own food here," asserting her "equal status" in the shared apartment and her "half the vote."
Lu Yuheng, however, immediately challenged her, asking, "Who gave you the right to say that?" Han Ruibing, observing their banter, humorously told Lin Xiaodi that "being suppressed by Whiz is happiness," a statement Lin Xiaodi quickly corrected, clarifying the difference between "suppress" and "oppression." Han Ruibing then declared her willingness to do "anything for Whiz." During the meal, Lu Yuheng casually mentioned his milk allergy, specifying it only caused diarrhea.
Eager to express her affection, Han Ruibing claimed a dish she personally selected and prepared was filled with "my love for you." She continued to dote on him, picking food and even peeling shrimp for Lu Yuheng, much to the wide-eyed astonishment of Lin Xiaodi and Liu Yan, who were acutely aware of Lu Yuheng's extreme germaphobia and aversion to physical contact.
Episode 6 Recap
Han Ruibing, mesmerized by Lu Yuheng, peeled prawns and served him during dinner. Unable to directly refuse her, Lu Yuheng subtly prompted Lin Xiaodi, suggesting that a guest shouldn’t be doing such tasks. Lin Xiaodi then took over the serving, feeling like a maid. Lu Yuheng proceeded to constantly ask Lin Xiaodi to peel prawns, serve tossed cucumber in sauce, sweet and sour pork ribs, and soup, claiming his wrists and arms hurt and that he didn’t eat coriander.
Lin Xiaodi, exasperated, secretly vowed to get even with him once the guests left. Meanwhile, Su Nian, frustrated that Lu Yuheng wasn't answering her calls, spotted a photo on Liu Yan's social media, realizing he was at Lu Yuheng's home. She called Liu Yan, who was assisting Lin Xiaodi with making orange juice, and overheard Lin Xiaodi's voice in the background, making her suspicious.
Separately, Lu Yuheng refused to attend an event the next day, stating he didn't want to be "surrounded." Liu Yan then warned him that superstar Zhao Muran, Lin Xiaodi’s childhood friend, was actively pursuing her. He suggested Lu Yuheng make a move before Lin Xiaodi was swept away.
Lu Yuheng casually dismissed Lin Xiaodi as merely an "excellent housekeeper," but Liu Yan, recognizing this as unusually high praise from him, sensed that Lu Yuheng might be more interested than he let on. Lu Yuheng outwardly maintained his disinterest in women, but Liu Yan's words about Zhao Muran clearly bothered him. Later, as Liu Yan offered to give Han Ruibing a ride home on his old bicycle, he joked about it being "overloaded," hinting at her hearty appetite.
Later that evening, Lin Xiaodi enacted her revenge. Knowing Lu Yuheng was allergic to milk, she prepared two glasses of white liquid, presenting them as freshly squeezed, cold coconut juice. Lu Yuheng, despite her teasing about his frail body, insisted on drinking it. He noticed a strange taste but consumed it anyway. Soon after, he began to experience stomach discomfort. Lin Xiaodi then deliberately occupied the bathroom, stalling and prolonging his agony.
Suddenly, Zhao Muran arrived at the apartment, intending to tell Lin Xiaodi that he had found a new place for her to move into. Lu Yuheng, still battling his stomach issues, blocked Zhao Muran, leading to a heated confrontation. Hearing the commotion, Lin Xiaodi quickly emerged and tried to usher Zhao Muran away, firmly stating she wasn’t moving. Unwilling to endure the situation further, Lu Yuheng abruptly pulled Lin Xiaodi away from Zhao Muran.
After Zhao Muran left, Lu Yuheng confronted Lin Xiaodi, accurately guessing she had added something to his juice that caused his stomach problems. Lin Xiaodi admitted to adding a small amount of milk as a “small revenge,” surprised by his strong reaction. Angry, Lu Yuheng told her to leave. Lin Xiaodi apologized, admitting she had gone too far and promised to "take responsibility."
Lu Yuheng then instructed her to stay until he fell asleep and demanded she sing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" to lull him to sleep. The next day, Lin Xiaodi debuted her Hanfu stall at an exhibition, with Han Ruibing modeling her designs and Liu Yan helping. Lu Yuheng also arrived, claiming he needed to buy a new plate, a subtle reference to a cup Lin Xiaodi had recently broken at his home.
The stall quickly attracted attention due to Lin Xiaodi's innovative designs that blended traditional and modern aesthetics. Ding Yuan, a refined gentleman and the exhibition's director, observed her work with keen interest. He complimented her unique ideas and talent but pointed out a traditional Hanfu design flaw: authentic Hanfu uses ties, not external buttons. Lin Xiaodi gratefully accepted his feedback, feeling ashamed of her oversight, and immediately decided to withdraw the current garments from sale to refine her designs.
Ding Yuan, impressed by her humility and talent, gave her his business card, hoping to collaborate in the future. Han Ruibing wondered if Ding Yuan was romantically interested in Lin Xiaodi, but Lin Xiaodi quickly dismissed the idea, focused on her improvements. Later, Zhao Muran unexpectedly arrived at Lin Xiaodi's stall. Fearing his fans would recognize him and cause chaos, Lin Xiaodi frantically tried to get him to leave, but struggled to persuade him.
Lu Yuheng warned them to stop creating a disturbance. However, it was too late; Zhao Muran’s hat fell off, revealing his identity. A massive crowd of fans instantly swarmed the stall, creating a dangerous stampede that trapped Lin Xiaodi and caused her to lose her shoes and injure her feet. Seeing the escalating danger, Lu Yuheng quickly intervened, pulling Lin Xiaodi out of the surging crowd.
Despite her concern for her stall, Lu Yuheng, seeing her reluctance, picked her up in a "princess carry" and carried her away from the chaotic scene. Back at Lu Yuheng's apartment, he gently cleaned and bandaged Lin Xiaodi’s injured foot. The close proximity made Lin Xiaodi blush, and the atmosphere between them grew warm and intimate. When she nearly stumbled while getting up, Lu Yuheng instinctively caught her, leading to another tender moment.
After she left, Lu Yuheng smiled to himself, recalling their recent close interactions. Not long after, Su Nian, having seen Liu Yan's earlier social media post with a woman's voice in the background, unexpectedly arrived at Lu Yuheng's apartment to investigate. Mistaking Lin Xiaodi for a new maid, Su Nian imperiously ordered her to wash fruits and get her water.
Lin Xiaodi, recognizing Su Nian as one of Lu Yuheng's many "female admirers," defiantly asserted her indispensable role in Lu Yuheng’s daily life, detailing how he relied on her for breakfast, fresh juice, and peeled fruit every morning. Su Nian, in turn, boasted about her long-standing, close relationship with Lu Yuheng, claiming they were considered a "perfect match" and that she was his "best support."
She subtly belittled Lin Xiaodi, calling her "mediocre" and "tasteless," suggesting Lu Yuheng only kept her out of kindness. Lin Xiaodi countered with even more intimate details, describing seeing Lu Yuheng after his shower, his sweat after workouts, and sharing meals, wake-up times, and even sleep with him. She also highlighted how Lu Yuheng had personally cleaned and bandaged her recent wound and gifted her a set of valuable crystal cups, one of which she "accidentally" broke.
Su Nian, visibly flustered and defeated, abruptly announced her departure, refusing the water she had previously demanded. Left alone, Lin Xiaodi fumed, cursing Lu Yuheng for attracting so many "female admirers."
Episode 7 Recap
Liu Yan excitedly informed Lu Yuheng that Su Nian had visited his house, clearly trying to find opportunities to spend time with him. Liu Yan reassured him that Lin Xiaodi, whom he affectionately called "Little Fairy," had already sent Su Nian away, leaving her in tears. Lu Yuheng noted that Lin Xiaodi seemed to be quite a capable "housekeeper."
Later, at dinner with Liu Yan and Han Ruibing, Lin Xiaodi, still annoyed by Su Nian's earlier intrusion, pointedly withheld placemats from Lu Yuheng and Liu Yan. When Liu Yan questioned this, Lin Xiaodi declared that her handmade placemats were "crude and cheap," like supermarket freebies, and therefore unworthy of Lu Yuheng's "high standards." Lu Yuheng, however, asserted that whether something was good enough was "up to him to decide."
Despite Han Ruibing and Liu Yan's playful attempts to get placemats for them, Lin Xiaodi still refused to give one to Lu Yuheng and even deliberately moved a dish away when he tried to serve himself. After the meal, as Lu Yuheng surprisingly began washing the dishes, a task he usually avoided, Liu Yan noticed his significant change. He then approached Lu Yuheng, emphasizing that Lin Xiaodi was clearly upset, especially after Su Nian's visit.
Liu Yan suggested Lu Yuheng apologize, but Lu Yuheng refused, stating he had no fault in Su Nian's uninvited appearance. Liu Yan then proposed that Lu Yuheng accompany Lin Xiaodi on her upcoming outdoor live stream to mend their strained relationship. Lu Yuheng, however, declined, citing the approaching darkness and his disinterest, adding that Lin Xiaodi "takes herself too seriously."
Liu Yan offered a final piece of advice, warning that "playing hard to get may be fun, but once you lose her, it's game over." Meanwhile, Lin Xiaodi was engrossed in researching Hanfu online, realizing the traditional clothing had intricate details, such as ties instead of buttons, which she had previously overlooked in her designs. Han Ruibing joined her, and together they resolved to study more.
Lin Xiaodi expressed her determination to build her fan base independently, rejecting any notion of riding on Lu Yuheng's popularity. Han Ruibing playfully teased her about Lu Yuheng's unusual attention, suggesting he was "especially concerned" and had arranged the dinner specifically to cheer her up. Lin Xiaodi blushed but vehemently denied any jealousy, insisting her anger was solely due to the "insult" she had endured.
Han Ruibing continued to playfully suggest Lin Xiaodi was falling for Lu Yuheng's irresistible charm, leading Lin Xiaodi to playfully accuse Han Ruibing of being infatuated with Liu Yan, which Han Ruibing denied, claiming she was merely maintaining a good relationship with him for "fan benefits." Later, Lin Xiaodi announced her plan to conduct an outdoor live stream at a popular square, and Han Ruibing and Liu Yan eagerly volunteered to join.
Lu Yuheng, however, chose to stay home, muttering about the dark evening and Lin Xiaodi's still-injured leg. At the square, Han Ruibing and Liu Yan playfully ran off, leaving Lin Xiaodi to begin her live stream, introducing the vibrant location to her viewers. Concurrently, Zhao Muran found himself drinking heavily at a restaurant with Luo Tianyin. Despite Luo Tianyin's evident affection for him, Zhao Muran confessed that he only saw her as a sister.
He lamented to her that his brother, Zhao Jinxuan, treated him solely as a "cash cow," relentlessly pushing him into commercial projects that diverged sharply from his true musical passions. Zhao Muran felt unfulfilled in his career. In his inebriated state, he fondly recalled his childhood, particularly how, ten years prior, when he rebelled against his father's decision to send him abroad and was ostracized, Lin Xiaodi was the only one who stood by him, protecting him "like a heroine."
While still under the influence, Zhao Muran spotted Lin Xiaodi live streaming at the nearby square. Believing he was hallucinating, he impulsively rushed over and embraced her from behind, fervently apologizing for his past behavior at the traditional art exhibition and admitting he didn't want to see her with "that person." The unexpected public display instantly drew a large crowd, causing a commotion.
In the ensuing chaos, Lin Xiaodi's phone was knocked from her hand, and she stumbled to the ground. Just then, Lu Yuheng arrived, quickly covering Lin Xiaodi with his jacket and shielding her as he led her away from the swelling crowd. As the night deepened, Lu Yuheng, who suffers from nyctophobia, began to feel increasingly uneasy. He leaned weakly against Lin Xiaodi, admitting he "hates any disruption to his routine."
Misinterpreting his words as blame for the chaos, Lin Xiaodi quickly apologized and pleaded with him not to abandon her. Lu Yuheng, drained of energy, simply asked her to "take me home." They walked hand-in-hand all the way back, with Lin Xiaodi reassuring him, "Don't be scared. No matter how dark the road is ahead, I'll be right here with you."
Upon their arrival, Lu Yuheng dismissively stated that he "just didn't want to owe her anything," leaving Lin Xiaodi to ponder why he couldn't simply express gratitude. As Lu Yuheng retired to shower, he briefly wondered why Lin Xiaodi was still following him. Later that night, Lu Yuheng lay awake, his heart racing as he replayed Lin Xiaodi's comforting words in his mind, prompting him to consider whether he needed to see a doctor for his condition.
The next morning, Lu Yuheng casually mentioned that he was home because his entire team had supposedly suffered from food poisoning the previous day and were all on leave, though he himself was fine. Lin Xiaodi offered to prepare a healthy meal for him and then invited him to clean the windows with her. He agreed to do it "together."
As they worked, Lin Xiaodi playfully drew a "little old man" face on the window with soap bubbles, eliciting a rare smile from Lu Yuheng, which he quickly denied, claiming he didn't even have dimples. Lin Xiaodi's broken phone from the previous night meant she couldn't explain her sudden stream disconnection to her fans. When she tried to access her computer, it abruptly blacked out.
She briefly saw a flicker showing approximately 40,000 fans and numerous comments before the screen died. Desperate, she decided to borrow Lu Yuheng's computer. Lu Yuheng was in the middle of a live stream when Liu Yan called him, excitedly sharing the latest online gossip about Zhao Muran "forcefully hugging" a girl at the square.
Liu Yan speculated it was a publicity stunt for Zhao Muran's new movie and revealed that netizens were "doxing" the girl, criticizing her traditional culture content as "low standard." Lu Yuheng, annoyed by the gossip, ordered Liu Yan to focus on training and assigned him 40 extra rounds of simulated combat. He then announced he was taking a shower, having forgotten to turn off his camera, and extended the stream to compensate for the missed session the day before.
Seeing Lu Yuheng leave his desk, Lin Xiaodi quietly slipped into his room, hoping to use his computer without being noticed. However, Lu Yuheng had forgotten to turn off his camera, and Lin Xiaodi's sudden appearance in his live stream caused an immediate uproar among his viewers. Comments flooded in, expressing shock at "a woman in Whiz Lu's house" and speculating if she was the same girl involved with Zhao Muran the previous night.
Liu Yan, witnessing the online frenzy, frantically called Lu Yuheng. Lu Yuheng rushed back to his room to find Lin Xiaodi had accidentally caused his computer to freeze. She profusely apologized, explaining that her own computer had crashed and her phone was broken, which led her to seek his. Lu Yuheng then led her to a box filled with brand-new sponsored phones, telling her to choose one since he had no use for them.
Lin Xiaodi, delighted by the prospect of unwrapping a new phone, declared her love for the "thrill of tearing up the wrapper." Noticing her enthusiasm, Lu Yuheng offered her a pile of other unopened sponsor gifts, which he had been too lazy to unwrap himself. Lin Xiaodi, however, clarified that she preferred unwrapping her own purchases, not someone else's. Lu Yuheng then proposed that she and Liu Yan split the remaining gifts, with her having first pick.
He even handed her a pair of headphones, telling her to give them to Liu Yan as one of her "leftovers." Lin Xiaodi, calling him a "seasoned crook" and "cunning," eventually agreed to pay for the phone in installments, requesting a written agreement. She also proposed a two-week household chore contract in exchange for all the remaining gifts.
Lu Yuheng, ever the negotiator, countered with a three-week commitment, along with strict conditions: she couldn't leave without permission, stay out overnight, or turn off her phone. Despite her protests about these "unfair conditions," Lin Xiaodi finally asked him to fix her computer, to which he agreed, provided she started moving the gifts. She complained about having to move them herself, calling him a "prick."
Episode 8 Recap
Lu Yuheng was helping Lin Xiaodi fix her computer in her room. Lin Xiaodi leaned in close, watching him with curiosity, making him feel uncomfortable and his ears burn. While fixing the laptop, Lu Yuheng noticed numerous hostile comments on Lin Xiaodi's live stream, calling her names like "fox spirit" and "seducer," and criticizing her Hanfu designs as "second-rate," "full of flaws," and "not understanding traditional culture."
He immediately called Liu Yan, instructing him not to mention the live stream issues or anything about Zhao Muran to Lin Xiaodi. Lu Yuheng planned to take her to the studio the next day and told Liu Yan to brief the other team members to keep quiet about these matters.
To prevent Lin Xiaodi from seeing the hurtful online comments, Lu Yuheng subtly manipulated her computer screen, making her believe her previous "40,000 fans" were just a mistaken impression and that she only had eight followers. Lin Xiaodi was disappointed and confused by this. Later, distracted, she forgot to bring her pajamas into the bathroom. She emerged from the shower wearing one of Lu Yuheng's white shirts, trying to sneak back into her room, silently praying he wouldn't look up.
However, he turned and saw her. Maintaining a facade of calmness, Lu Yuheng questioned if she was resorting to "indecent methods" like seduction to gain a popular streamer's attention. Lin Xiaodi, flustered, explained it was an accident and she was so used to living alone that she didn't even consider him a man.
Lu Yuheng, feigning indifference, stated it made no difference to him whether she was dressed or undressed, and abruptly announced he would finish fixing her computer another day before leaving the room. Lin Xiaodi was fuming, indignant at his dismissive attitude towards her figure, asserting that her body was, in fact, good. Back in his own room, Lu Yuheng's heart raced as he replayed the encounter. Meanwhile, Zhao Muran confronted Zhao Jinxuan, accusing him of failing to protect Lin Xiaodi.
He was furious that she had become the target of public criticism and doxing. Zhao Jinxuan retorted that Muran himself was the cause of the trouble and revealed he had already spent a significant amount on public relations to suppress negative news about Lin Xiaodi. He suggested that Muran's own zealous fans might be behind the renewed attacks.
Losing his temper, Zhao Muran threatened to hold a press conference and announce Lin Xiaodi as his fiancée if Zhao Jinxuan didn't clear her name. Zhao Jinxuan, in turn, offered to resolve Lin Xiaodi's PR crisis if Zhao Muran signed an endorsement contract, which Muran reluctantly accepted. Lin Xiaodi and Han Ruibing visited a fabric factory to select materials.
They were delighted by the soft, high-quality fabrics, and Lin Xiaodi expressed her desire to buy a large quantity when she could afford it. To their surprise, they learned that the factory was owned by Ding Yuan, the CEO of Blooming Jasmine. Ding Yuan recognized Lin Xiaodi from a traditional art exhibition and commended her passion for traditional clothing and her honesty.
He offered her his business card and invited her to join Blooming Jasmine's design department, which specialized in traditional styles, believing it would be a perfect fit for her. Lin Xiaodi was ecstatic but admitted she had only designed for video games and never made an actual Hanfu. Ding Yuan clarified that his card was merely an invitation, and her ability to stay would depend on her performance. Lin Xiaodi vowed to work exceptionally hard.
When Ding Yuan offered her premium fabrics, she politely declined, opting for scraps for practice, explaining she didn't want to waste good material during her learning phase. Han Ruibing was thrilled for Lin Xiaodi, seeing it as a significant step towards realizing her dream. At Lu Yuheng's studio, Team Eternity celebrated their success in securing five first bloods on the new regional server.
Lu Yuheng praised their performance and announced that the dormitory he arranged for them was almost ready for immediate move-in. He then outlined their next goal: to defeat boss monsters, acquire rare materials, and upgrade their gear to the highest level in preparation for the upcoming city qualifiers. Shortly after, Su Nian arrived, stating she had come because Lu Yuheng hadn't answered her calls.
She invited the team to dinner to celebrate the formation of Team Eternity, but Lu Yuheng politely declined, saying he was going home for dinner. Shao Hai, accompanying Su Nian, became verbally abusive, mocking Lu Yuheng and his team as "second-rate players" who would "amount to nothing." Lu Yuheng ordered Shao Hai to leave, which he did, but not without vowing to prevent Lu Yuheng from ever being in the spotlight in the e-sports world.
Su Nian apologized for the disruption and left, promising to invite them again. Later, Liu Yan asked Lu Yuheng about Lin Xiaodi, noticing her absence. Lu Yuheng mentioned that she "comes and goes like a breeze" and is difficult to track down. Another teammate inquired about Lu Yuheng's romantic progress with Lin Xiaodi. He playfully responded that she had improved his daily routine by combining his three meals into two.
Lu Yuheng then fabricated a story about high formaldehyde levels in Lin Xiaodi's new apartment, claiming it was uninhabitable and could cause severe health issues. When questioned how he measured it, he displayed an ear thermometer, earning amused glances from his teammates, who recognized his ploy to keep Lin Xiaodi staying with him. Zhao Muran, after asking Tianyin for help, visited a dusty storeroom to collect some old Hanfu pieces.
He planned to send them to Lin Xiaodi via cash-on-delivery, instructing Tianyin to make them appear like discarded items covered in dust, knowing she would not accept them as a direct gift. Lin Xiaodi later received the heavy package, initially annoyed by the cash-on-delivery charge, but her annoyance turned to delight when she discovered Hanfu and fabrics inside, believing she had stumbled upon a great bargain.
Lin Xiaodi went to her new workplace, Blooming Jasmine, and met Ms. Bai, the design department director. Ms. Bai, aware that Ding Yuan rarely recommended new hires, instructed her staff to treat Lin Xiaodi well but not to assign her much work, effectively sidelining her. Despite this, Lin Xiaodi was ecstatic to be in what she considered her "paradise." Back at the studio, Han Ruibing and Liu Yan discussed the intensifying online attacks against Lin Xiaodi.
Han Ruibing was worried about Lin Xiaodi discovering the negative comments, as she is strong-willed. Liu Yan suspected foul play, noting a sudden surge of cybertroopers defaming Lin Xiaodi, despite Zhao Muran's company previously protecting her. He reassured Han Ruibing that Lu Yuheng would shield Lin Xiaodi from harm. Han Ruibing then confided in Liu Yan about her parents' impending divorce, expressing her fear despite anticipating it.
She confessed that she envied Liu Yan's seemingly carefree nature and found comfort in his presence, as he helped her temporarily forget her worries. Liu Yan jokingly offered a "paid counseling service," and in a moment of awkwardness, he almost fell from his chair, and Han Ruibing instinctively caught him, resulting in a brief embrace. Lin Xiaodi asked to borrow Lu Yuheng's computer to research Hanfu, as hers was still malfunctioning and couldn't connect to the internet.
Lu Yuheng refused, fearing she would stumble upon the online comments. He offered to print out any information she needed instead, playfully suggesting she might break his computer due to her "silliness." Meanwhile, Zhao Jinxuan's assistant frantically reported that Zhao Muran had vanished and was unreachable before his scheduled press conference.
Zhao Jinxuan sternly warned her not to involve Lin Xiaodi, emphasizing that she was Muran's "bottom line" and he would "burn the building to the ground" if anything happened to her. Liu Yan called Lu Yuheng, informing him that the negative news about Lin Xiaodi was "getting out of hand," and people were doxing her. He urged Lu Yuheng to keep her indoors to protect her from Zhao Muran's increasingly agitated fans.
Lu Yuheng, who was out shopping with Lin Xiaodi, immediately pulled her away and rushed back home. Zhao Muran was waiting downstairs. Lin Xiaodi confronted him about her ruined stall, but Zhao Muran, realizing she was unaware of the online storm, quickly guided her upstairs to explain the full situation. Su Nian watched the encounter from a distance.
Episode 9 Recap
Zhao Muran was present at Lu Yuheng's house, and Lin Xiaodi found the two men's behavior strange as she went to prepare noodles. Lu Yuheng confronted Zhao Muran about his actions. Zhao Muran pressed Lu Yuheng about the pervasive online news attacking Lin Xiaodi, noting Lin Xiaodi's apparent ignorance. Lu Yuheng confirmed he was intentionally keeping it from her, claiming he was protecting her to avoid trouble at his home.
Zhao Muran countered that he was the only one who could truly protect Lin Xiaodi, revealing his company was actively working to suppress negative comments. Lu Yuheng scoffed, reminding Zhao Muran that he was the source of all Lin Xiaodi's problems and that his absence was her greatest protection.
Zhao Muran then probed if Lu Yuheng had feelings for Lin Xiaodi, to which Lu Yuheng retorted that his feelings were not Zhao Muran's concern, only that Lin Xiaodi would not leave his house. Preoccupied by their serious conversation, Lin Xiaodi accidentally cut her hand while chopping vegetables. Both men rushed to her side, vying to attend to her wound.
Amused, Lin Xiaodi laughed, remarking that the scene resembled a romantic drama where she was the female lead caught between two men. Both men simultaneously called her an idiot, dismissed her injury as minor, and told her to bandage it herself and "get her head straight." Lin Xiaodi was left bewildered, expecting them to compete for the chance to bandage her hand.
During dinner, Lin Xiaodi diligently served Lu Yuheng, prompting a jealous Zhao Muran to try and gain her attention by claiming he needed vitamins and more greens. Lu Yuheng thwarted his attempts by piling vegetables onto Zhao Muran's plate.
Han Ruibing and Liu Yan were already present in the house when Han Ruibing recounted to Lin Xiaodi how Zhao Jinxuan, Zhao Muran's cousin, attempted to extract information about Lin Xiaodi from her to locate Zhao Muran, but she cleverly rebuffed him. Shortly after, the doorbell rang, and it was Zhao Jinxuan himself, having tracked Han Ruibing. Lu Yuheng gave Zhao Jinxuan a frosty reception, refusing him entry and declaring his house's "guest capacity is full."
Zhao Jinxuan stated his intention to take Zhao Muran. Lu Yuheng allowed Zhao Muran to leave but warned Zhao Jinxuan against future visits. Han Ruibing, observing Zhao Jinxuan's interaction with Lu Yuheng, speculated Zhao Jinxuan might be interested in Lu Yuheng.
After Zhao Jinxuan escorted Zhao Muran out, Han Ruibing subtly probed Lin Xiaodi about the online criticisms, realizing Lu Yuheng had successfully shielded her from the negative news since Lin Xiaodi was completely unaware and found her innocent answers strange. Leaving, Han Ruibing found Liu Yan waiting for her, feeling touched by his gesture. Liu Yan offered her a ride on his bicycle, which he playfully called his "car."
Han Ruibing took the lead, and they spotted a shooting star, prompting Han Ruibing to quickly make a wish. Simultaneously, Lu Yuheng contemplated whether he should reveal the truth about the online negativity to Lin Xiaodi. He asked her what she would do if she became famous with millions of fans, even if some of them were hateful and derogatory.
Lin Xiaodi confidently stated she would be thrilled and unfazed by such negativity, as it was merely online talk that couldn't cause real harm, comparing it to a conversation separated by a pane of glass. She proclaimed her unwavering dedication to her dreams. Lu Yuheng then questioned her "insistence on Hanfu," suggesting that without it and live streaming, she could avoid the problems she faced.
Lin Xiaodi, in turn, asked him why he chose e-sports when his looks could make him a superstar. She explained that being a professional e-sports player was his lifelong dream, just as Hanfu was "the light in my world," driven by pure passion and steadfast persistence. Later, Lin Xiaodi, from the balcony, also saw a shooting star and excitedly called Lu Yuheng to join her. Lu Yuheng, initially uninterested, was drawn out by Lin Xiaodi's persistence.
She then drew a "little star" on the fogged glass, which instantly triggered a profound memory in Lu Yuheng, reminding him of a "little star" from his childhood orphanage. He pressed her about who taught her, but Lin Xiaodi playfully evaded, challenging him to "bravely take this step" and come out to her. He did not come out at that time. Later still, Lin Xiaodi again called him to see a shooting star and repeated her challenge.
When he finally did step out, she nearly stumbled, leading to an unexpectedly close and awkward moment between them. Afterward, Lu Yuheng reflected on his previous reluctance to step out and his past memory. At the design department, Mr. Ding Yuan arrived, emphasizing the critical importance of the next season's design. Bai Wei presented the anonymous design drafts for his review. Ding Yuan selected three impressive designs, two of which belonged to Bai Wei.
When asked about the third, Lin Xiaodi hesitantly admitted it was hers, explaining that she had previous design ideas and adapted them to the current theme. Impressed, Ding Yuan praised her innate talent, affirming he "didn't look at the wrong person." He instructed Bai Wei to prioritize Lin Xiaodi's training and ensure she participated in the next season's fashion design.
Driven by her inability to accept Lin Xiaodi's closeness to Lu Yuheng, Su Nian orchestrated Lin Xiaodi's downfall by alerting reporters. Simultaneously, Zhao Muran's cousin, Zhao Jinxuan, arranged a meeting with a director for Zhao Muran to discuss a period drama role. However, a news alert on Zhao Muran's phone about Lin Xiaodi being swarmed by reporters caused him to abandon the meeting and rush to her aid.
Reporters barraged Lin Xiaodi with questions about her relationships with Zhao Muran and Lu Yuheng, and challenged her sincerity in promoting traditional Chinese culture given her recent return from overseas. Overwhelmed, Lin Xiaodi struggled to respond. Zhao Muran arrived, apologized for his delay, and publicly declared, "Lin Xiaodi is indeed my girlfriend." He asked the media to respect their privacy, stating he wanted to protect her from harm.
Shortly after, Lu Yuheng, having been informed by his team about Lin Xiaodi's situation, also arrived. Zhao Muran, noticing Lu Yuheng, immediately clarified to the reporters that "Whiz Lu is actually my girlfriend's brother. They're siblings," and prompted Lu Yuheng to corroborate this. Faced with the unexpected declaration and the media's probing, Lu Yuheng reluctantly confirmed, asserting, "If anyone hurts my sister, I won't spare them."
Lin Xiaodi was visibly heartbroken by Lu Yuheng's public declaration of her as merely his sister. Zhao Muran then announced he would hold a press conference at his company's new movie premiere next month to address all questions, and escorted a distraught Lin Xiaodi away, promising to protect her. A dejected Lu Yuheng returned home, having watched Zhao Muran take Lin Xiaodi away.
Liu Yan observed Lu Yuheng's uncharacteristic timidity and deduced his deep feelings for Lin Xiaodi, questioning why he publicly referred to her as his sister and offered to help him win her back. Lu Yuheng, however, stated he could not stop Lin Xiaodi if she wished to leave and requested to be left alone, to which Liu Yan warned that if he continued to "spend more quiet time alone, she'll be gone quietly too."
Meanwhile, Zhao Muran welcomed Lin Xiaodi to a prepared room at his house, assuring her it was her home for as long as she needed. Later, Zhao Muran attempted to soothe Lin Xiaodi, explaining that his public declaration was solely "to protect her" and that he would clarify the situation when the time was right. However, Lin Xiaodi was deeply distressed, crying and questioning why Lu Yuheng called her his sister and lied to her.
She felt unworthy if he believed she could not face challenges with him. Zhao Muran comforted her, promising unwavering protection and honesty. Lin Xiaodi, still overwhelmed, asked why she cared so intensely about Lu Yuheng's words. Zhao Muran dismissed her feelings as an "emotional illusion" stemming from living under the same roof for too long and insisted that once she calmed down, she would realize he was "the best for her."
He advised her to move out and leave Lu Yuheng to end her sadness. Han Ruibing called Lin Xiaodi, urging her not to give up on Lu Yuheng and hinting at his profound care for her. Lin Xiaodi, however, expressed uncertainty about returning to Lu Yuheng's place, stating she might not go back. Zhao Muran quickly intervened, taking the phone from Lin Xiaodi and scolding Han Ruibing for meddling.
Episode 10 Recap
Lu Yuheng spent a sleepless night on the sofa. He startled awake at the sound of the doorbell, hoping it was Lin Xiaodi returning, and quickly tried to compose himself, pretending to read a book. To his disappointment, it was Liu Yan at the door. Liu Yan and Han Ruibing arrived with breakfast, but Lu Yuheng largely ignored them, focusing instead on watering plants.
Liu Yan and Han Ruibing tried to persuade Lu Yuheng to bring Lin Xiaodi back, pointing out how quiet and cold the house felt without her. They urged him to apologize first, insisting there was no shame in it. However, Lu Yuheng stubbornly refused, stating that Lin Xiaodi chose to leave, so he saw no reason to go get her.
Han Ruibing explained that Lin Xiaodi was still upset because Lu Yuheng had publicly declared her his sister in front of reporters. She added that if he didn't bring her back, Lin Xiaodi would never return on her own, possibly staying permanently at Zhao Muran’s place. Liu Yan worried about Lu Yuheng's recent bad mood affecting his training, but Lu Yuheng remained indifferent, asserting that Lin Xiaodi's choices were her own.
Meanwhile, Lin Xiaodi was feeling down at Zhao Muran’s house, still affected by Lu Yuheng's words from the previous day. Zhao Muran tried to cheer her up, but she seemed distracted. When he asked if she was thinking about Lu Yuheng, she denied it, instead suggesting she should return to Lu Yuheng's house to retrieve her daily necessities and design drafts. Zhao Muran offered to drive her, reassuring her that he would disguise himself to avoid causing any trouble.
Back at Lu Yuheng's, Liu Yan and Han Ruibing were secretly devising a plan to get Lin Xiaodi back. Han Ruibing suggested Lu Yuheng fake an illness, but Liu Yan dismissed the idea, knowing Lu Yuheng was a terrible actor. He proposed making Lu Yuheng drunk instead, hoping Lin Xiaodi would be moved to care for him. He even suggested applying "drunken makeup" to make it more convincing.
Lu Yuheng, overhearing their schemes, declared he didn't need any tricks and reiterated that Lin Xiaodi left by her own choice. As Lin Xiaodi entered, she overheard Lu Yuheng’s dismissive remarks. Angered, she loudly announced that she was indeed leaving voluntarily and only returned to pack her belongings, intending to leave for good.
Liu Yan and Han Ruibing tried to intervene, explaining they were only joking and that Lu Yuheng had been in a bad mood and suffered from stomach upset since she left. Lin Xiaodi, however, was resolute, stating she was moving to Zhao Muran's place and would not be coming back. Despite their pleas, she packed her things and left, telling them that Lu Yuheng didn't need her.
Zhao Muran, who had been anxiously waiting downstairs, was relieved to see her come down and offered to help with her bags, expressing his happiness that she had chosen to leave. Liu Yan and Han Ruibing were frustrated by Lu Yuheng's stubbornness, lamenting that all their efforts to reconcile them were ruined by his words. They declared they were giving up, challenging Lu Yuheng to make Lin Xiaodi return on her own if he was so capable.
Lu Yuheng, left alone, pondered what he could do to bring her back. Later, at Zhao Muran's house, a small celebration was held for Lin Xiaodi's arrival. Zhao Muran presented her with a wedding-themed cake. When the lights were suddenly turned off as a surprise, Lin Xiaodi instinctively worried about Lu Yuheng, realizing how sensitive she had become to darkness due to his fear.
Meanwhile, at a coffee shop, Lu Yuheng received a phone call confirming that the person he had been searching for was Lin Xiaodi. Overwhelmed, he rushed out of the coffee shop. Upon arriving at Zhao Muran's villa, Lu Yuheng saw Lin Xiaodi and Zhao Muran happily dancing together in traditional attire as heavy rain poured down outside. His eyes hardened, and he felt nothing as the rain drenched him. He called Lin Xiaodi, but she didn't answer her phone.
Disappointed, he turned and left. Lin Xiaodi later noticed Lu Yuheng's missed call and was initially overjoyed, but when she tried to call him back, his phone was unreachable and then powered off. Distraught, she began drinking heavily, cursing Lu Yuheng as an "idiot," "jerk," and "big liar" for not trying to make her stay when she returned to his house earlier.
She expressed her confusion and sadness, questioning why she cared about his words so much and why she kept thinking about him when it was clearly his fault. Drunk, she insisted on going home, so Zhao Muran, unable to reason with her, drove her back to Lu Yuheng's house. Lu Yuheng, still battling his own fear of the dark, bravely walked downstairs when he saw Lin Xiaodi and Zhao Muran. Lin Xiaodi, heavily intoxicated, confronted him, pulling at his face.
She demanded to know why he had called her his sister, labeling him an "unromantic insensible man." She confessed her deep feelings, wondering why she was so deeply concerned and cared about him so much. Lu Yuheng, no longer able to avoid his feelings, embraced her tightly, and they shared a passionate kiss in the dim light. From a distance, Zhao Muran witnessed their embrace and quietly left, heartbroken. The next morning, Lin Xiaodi woke up and prepared lunch.
She then found Lu Yuheng still asleep and realized he had a high fever. She gently woke him to take his temperature, but Lu Yuheng pulled her closer, demanding to know if she was always so kind to everyone, and if she had taken care of Zhao Muran in the same way when he was ill. Lin Xiaodi dismissed his questions, attributing them to his fever.
She busied herself with making him porridge and cooling his fever, eventually falling asleep awkwardly by his side. Lu Yuheng woke up to find her sprawling sleeping position amusing and seemed to enjoy her presence, remarking that if it were her, it "was not bad." Later, Lu Yuheng's fever had subsided, but he feigned weakness to garner Lin Xiaodi's attention, asking her to feed him porridge. Lin Xiaodi, still puzzled, asked him how she had returned home last night.
Lu Yuheng, seizing the opportunity, dramatically recounted that she had returned drunk, incessantly knocking on his door, and upon entry, had hugged him, cried, and explicitly asked him not to leave her. He concluded his story by claiming she had even "forced a kiss" on him. Lin Xiaodi was mortified, recalling fragments that seemed to confirm his exaggerated account.
She vehemently denied remembering anything, but Lu Yuheng insisted that if she had any conscience, she should take responsibility for her actions. He then warned her not to spend the night elsewhere without his permission again, citing their contract. Lin Xiaodi questioned his right to control her, but Lu Yuheng asserted that, contract or not, her actions necessitated that she take "full responsibility."
Episode 11 Recap
Following Lin Xiaodi's drunken confession and kiss the previous night, Lu Yuheng seized the opportunity to make her feel responsible. When she inquired about her return home, he mischievously exaggerated, claiming she had not only walked back by herself but also persistently knocked on his door, hugged him upon entering, forcibly kissed him, and demanded he never leave. Though Lin Xiaodi could only recall fragmented memories, the account left her thoroughly embarrassed.
Leveraging this, Lu Yuheng declared that based on her "past actions" towards him, she was fully responsible for him. He then firmly told her that she was not to leave him without his permission again. When Lin Xiaodi tried to explain her previous behavior by saying she grew up overseas and was more forthright, Lu Yuheng quickly became an inquisitive child, barraging her with questions about her parents and her life abroad.
Lin Xiaodi, finding his curiosity peculiar, was interrupted by a phone call from Han Ruibing, instructing Lu Yuheng to finish his porridge before she left to answer it. On the phone, Han Ruibing mentioned she had heard from Zhao Muran that Lin Xiaodi was back home, and that Zhao Muran seemed to be in a bad mood.
Lin Xiaodi then informed Han Ruibing that Whiz Lu was sick, prompting a frantic Han Ruibing and Liu Yan to rush to the supermarket. Liu Yan complained about carrying a large box of supplements, questioning why he always had to assist Han Ruibing when she was pursuing Whiz Lu. Han Ruibing retorted that it was his honor. Upon arriving at Lu Yuheng's house, Han Ruibing burst into his room, enveloping the surprised Whiz Lu in a hug.
Liu Yan tried to intervene, reminding Han Ruibing that Whiz Lu needed his rest. Lin Xiaodi stepped in and managed to usher them out of the room. Liu Yan later confided in Lin Xiaodi, speculating that Whiz Lu's illness was likely due to a cold he caught a few days prior, after rushing out in the rain with an intense expression, "like he was out to catch an adulterer."
Liu Yan also shared how Whiz Lu had always taken care of him, even giving him prize money despite his modest skills, comparing their bond to that of a father and son. Lin Xiaodi then gave Liu Yan a pair of headphones that Lu Yuheng had actually purchased for him, which touched Liu Yan deeply. Liu Yan, impressed by Lin Xiaodi's Hanfu designs, asked if she had any for men.
He tried on a white Hanfu, and Lin Xiaodi showered him with compliments, calling him incredibly handsome and graceful. Lu Yuheng, who had been listening from his doorway, appeared visibly irritated. He then demanded to try on the same Hanfu, wanting to show the difference between them, despite his usual aversion to wearing clothes others had worn. Lin Xiaodi was mesmerized by Lu Yuheng in the Hanfu, thinking he looked like "a star descended into the mortal world."
When he pressed her to compare him to Liu Yan, she diplomatically stated that they each had their own unique charm. Unsatisfied, Lu Yuheng cornered her, demanding to know why she had such rich vocabulary for Liu Yan but was speechless for him. Noticing his flushed face and ears, Lin Xiaodi asked if his fever had returned, to which he replied that it was normal for a fever to recur and that he "liked this feeling."
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Han Ruibing had made her "nutritious porridge," substituting cucumber with bitter gourd. She offered it to Whiz Lu, but Liu Yan, being the unfortunate taste-tester, immediately began vomiting, dramatically exclaiming that he was "poisoned" and "transforming." Whiz Lu was relieved that he hadn't consumed it. Lin Xiaodi offered to take Liu Yan to the hospital, but he quickly recovered.
Han Ruibing then announced she would return the next day, but Lu Yuheng firmly refused, insisting he needed to rest and playfully suggesting that Han Ruibing should "take responsibility" for his current state. At work, Lin Xiaodi overheard her colleagues gossiping about her alleged relationship with Zhao Muran, claiming she had an unfair advantage and was stealing their opportunities at "Blooming Jasmine."
Bai Wei, the director, called Lin Xiaodi for a private conversation, explaining that the rumors were negatively impacting the design department and the company. She subtly hinted that Lin Xiaodi's presence was causing problems for Mr. Ding, who otherwise greatly admired her talent. Understanding the underlying message, Lin Xiaodi decided to leave "Blooming Jasmine." Ding Yuan, the company's General Manager, later told Lin Xiaodi that her decision to leave might be beneficial.
He acknowledged her innate talent and creativity but noted her need for a deeper understanding of traditional culture, suggesting that "Blooming Jasmine" might not offer the ideal learning environment for her. He encouraged her to create her own brand, emphasizing the importance of incorporating traditional Chinese elements like Suzhou embroidery into her designs, and advised her that experience is gained through trying. He even recommended a renowned Suzhou embroidery master, Jiang Aihua, for her to learn from.
Grateful for his guidance, Lin Xiaodi vowed not to disappoint him and, inspired by Lu Yuheng in Hanfu, decided to name her new design "Eternal Star." Back at home, as Lin Xiaodi returned, Lu Yuheng pretended to be weak and secretly heated a thermometer in hot water before placing it under his arm. When Lin Xiaodi felt his forehead, it wasn't hot, but the thermometer showed a reading of 39. 4°C. Concerned, she insisted on taking him to the hospital.
Lu Yuheng vehemently refused, claiming to hate hospitals, and then suggested she hug him as a "physical means of dispelling a cold." They struggled playfully, and Lin Xiaodi lost her balance, accidentally falling onto him. The following morning, Lin Xiaodi was busy planting vegetables in pots. When Lu Yuheng came out, he asked what she was doing. She excitedly explained that they would soon have fresh, organic vegetables and invited him to join her.
He recoiled at the idea of touching dirt, playfully suggesting he would rather touch her than the dirt. The atmosphere became awkward, and in a flurry, Lin Xiaodi accidentally spilled dirt on him. As she leaned in to help clean him, their proximity made Lu Yuheng retreat quickly to his room. Clutching his wildly beating heart, he mused that he might need to see a doctor, or perhaps even a psychiatrist, for his recent erratic behavior.
Episode 12 Recap
Lu Yuheng felt a blush creep up his neck as he recalled the intimate moment in the living room when Lin Xiaodi accidentally fell onto him. He was so distracted that when Liu Yan called, discussing team matters and dorm preparations, he responded absently. Lu Yuheng arranged for extended training that evening and requested updates on other teams' battle statistics and the recruitment of substitute players.
Sensing Lu Yuheng’s unusual fatigue, Liu Yan playfully probed about what he and “Little Fairy” had been up to, but Lu Yuheng abruptly ended the call. Later, Liu Yan noticed Lu Yuheng was still distracted, even putting sugar in his usually unsweetened coffee. Lu Yuheng admitted something was on his mind, pretending to ask for a friend.
He described his friend's "weird symptoms": a racing heart, a burning sensation when near a particular girl, visions of her, and a strange yearning to be with her even though he used to dislike her. Liu Yan, seeing right through the façade, asked if this "friend" felt an uncontrollable urge to touch the girl's hand. Lu Yuheng vehemently denied such a thing, insisting his friend wasn't that type. Liu Yan concluded that Lu Yuheng’s “friend” was suffering from lovesickness.
Around the same time, Lin Xiaodi confided in Han Ruibing with similar questions about a "friend." She described her friend's heart beating strangely when seeing a certain guy, and how she was now willing to sacrifice more for him despite their past adversarial relationship. Lin Xiaodi even wondered if her friend had a masochistic tendency, or if the "feverish" feeling, racing heart, and constant replays of shared moments were normal.
Han Ruibing immediately diagnosed Lin Xiaodi’s "friend" with lovesickness, much to Lin Xiaodi's embarrassment and denial. Both Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi stubbornly refused to acknowledge their romantic feelings. Meanwhile, Lin Xiaodi, determined to learn more about traditional culture for her Hanfu designs, decided to visit Ms. Jiang Menghua, a renowned master of Suzhou embroidery whom Ding Yuan had introduced. Han Ruibing accompanied her.
Upon arrival at Ms. Jiang Menghua's home in the old town, they were met by an apprentice who curtly informed them that Ms. Jiang Menghua saw no visitors. Despite Lin Xiaodi's sincere pleas to learn and Han Ruibing's persistent attempts to persuade the apprentice, they were turned away. Han Ruibing grew visibly frustrated, wanting to force their way in, but Lin Xiaodi calmed her, acknowledging they would have to try again later.
In the gaming world, Team Eternity achieved the first kill of a new hidden boss and had already secured sixty percent of the new server's first kills, making them the top rival for other teams. At Jiesa E-Sports, Su Nian commended Lu Yuheng's team, calling him a "terrifying opponent," but Shao Hai dismissed their success. He accused Su Nian of favoring Lu Yuheng and told her to join Team Eternity if she was so impressed.
Su Nian, angered, declared that Jiesa would inevitably be ruined by his attitude. Shao Hai then angrily pushed his team to train harder. Dealing with Zhao Muran's latest incident, Zhao Jinxuan received news from his PR company that they would manage the public opinion. Hua pointed out that despite his tough exterior, Zhao Jinxuan always protected Zhao Muran, even secretly securing his new period drama contract.
Zhao Jinxuan was frustrated that Zhao Muran had ruined the contract and unprofessionally left the signing ceremony. Although Zhao Jinxuan initially insisted Zhao Muran should bear the financial responsibility for the liquidated damages, Hua persuaded him to cover the costs himself, reminding him that Zhao Muran was his cousin. Zhao Jinxuan agreed but instructed Hua to suspend Zhao Muran's work for a period to teach him a lesson.
Hua also mentioned Lin Xiaodi's disappointment about being turned away by the embroidery master. Zhao Jinxuan recognized the master's name, Ms. Jiang, and realized he knew her. Seeing Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi struggling to express their burgeoning feelings, Liu Yan and Han Ruibing decided to play matchmakers. They concocted a "fake relationship" plan to spur their friends into action.
Liu Yan then told Lu Yuheng about Lin Xiaodi's failed visit to Ms. Jiang Menghua, adding that Lu Yuheng, having helped Ms. Jiang Menghua before, might be able to assist Lin Xiaodi. He saw this as a sign that "even God is on their side." Liu Yan invited Lu Yuheng to the old town on Saturday. When Lu Yuheng refused, Liu Yan then announced that he and Han Ruibing were "dating" and would be going, along with Lin Xiaodi.
He emphasized how lonely Lin Xiaodi would be as a "third wheel" to their "honeymoon phase." This finally piqued Lu Yuheng's interest. He then discreetly approached Lin Xiaodi, who initially declined due to previous disappointment and her need to work. Lu Yuheng, however, offered to cover all her expenses, which convinced Lin Xiaodi to join. On Saturday, the four friends explored the old town.
When Liu Yan questioned Lu Yuheng's presence after his initial refusal, Lu Yuheng falsely claimed that Lin Xiaodi had "cried and begged" him to come, a story Liu Yan found hard to believe. As they explored, Lu Yuheng paid for Lin Xiaodi's purchases, clarifying to Liu Yan that only Lin Xiaodi's items were on his tab, implying Liu Yan should pay for Han Ruibing's.
Han Ruibing, meanwhile, privately told Lin Xiaodi about her plan to "take down" Liu Yan that evening and asked Lin Xiaodi to create opportunities for them to be alone. Lu Yuheng, having overheard their conversation, feigned feeling unwell, leaning on Lin Xiaodi and indirectly assisting Han Ruibing's plan. Han Ruibing realized that Lu Yuheng was aware of their scheme and was subtly cooperating. Back at their hotel suite, the group decided to play a game called "I Never."
Han Ruibing started by asking short-haired individuals to put down a finger, targeting Lu Yuheng and Liu Yan. Lin Xiaodi then asked those who didn't like to smile to put down a finger, to which Lu Yuheng responded. The game quickly devolved into a series of verbal jabs and playful betrayals. Liu Yan revealed his past crushes, resulting in Han Ruibing jokingly hitting him.
Lu Yuheng retaliated by exposing Han Ruibing's past crush on a mixed-race man in the UK and a confession email she had sent using his account, which flustered Han Ruibing. She then subtly targeted Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi by asking if their "lovesick friends" were related, noticing their similar symptoms. This intensified the mutual teasing.
Han Ruibing mentioning her time studying abroad triggered Lu Yuheng's memories of Lin Xiaodi, recalling how she loved making Hanfu as a child and promised to make him a set when they grew up. To seize control of the game, Lu Yuheng boldly declared that he would ask all subsequent questions. Liu Yan protested, but Han Ruibing interjected, agreeing on the condition that Lu Yuheng, who usually abstained from alcohol, drink two cans of beer.
To everyone's surprise, Lu Yuheng finished both cans without hesitation. For his first question, he asked those who liked "a little star" to put down a finger. Both he and Lin Xiaodi put down a finger. This sparked a memory for Lu Yuheng: a childhood moment with Lin Xiaodi where she called him her "little star" at the orphanage, confirming his belief that she was the little girl he remembered.
For his second question, Lu Yuheng asked anyone who had made an "important promise" to someone to put down a finger. Again, both he and Lin Xiaodi put down a finger, unlocking another shared childhood memory: a pinky promise where Lu Yuheng had vowed to marry her when they grew up. With two fingers down, Liu Yan declared Lu Yuheng the loser of the round.
Episode 13 Recap
Lu Yuheng, completely drunk, smiled foolishly at everyone, making Lin Xiaodi wonder if she was seeing things. This wasn't the Whiz she knew. He took her bunny ears, claiming they suited him best, and began to play with them while singing "Little Star," amusing everyone present. Later, Lu Yuheng pulled Lin Xiaodi into another room, demanding to take off his clothes and bathe.
Fearing he would catch a cold, Lin Xiaodi followed him, trying to stop him from removing his jacket. Annoyed by the noise, Lu Yuheng pinned Lin Xiaodi against the wall and, in a moment of alcohol-fueled impulse, kissed her. Lin Xiaodi covered her mouth in disbelief, taking a long moment to recover. Meanwhile, Han Ruibing and Liu Yan decided to "do something fun." They ended up having a heartfelt conversation, confessing their true feelings to each other.
Han Ruibing thanked Liu Yan for his constant companionship, and Liu Yan promised that no matter where or when she needed him, he would rush to her side without hesitation. The next day, Lu Yuheng took Lin Xiaodi to the home of Ms. Jiang, a renowned Suzhou embroidery artisan. Lin Xiaodi remarked that she couldn't even get past the door on her previous attempt to visit, assuming Lu Yuheng would face the same challenge.
To her surprise, Ms. Jiang’s apprentice greeted Lu Yuheng respectfully and invited them inside. Inside, Lu Yuheng introduced Lin Xiaodi as his girlfriend to Ms. Jiang and explained that their visit was for Lin Xiaodi to learn about Suzhou embroidery. Ms. Jiang was impressed by Lin Xiaodi and, noting that Lu Yuheng had called her beforehand, warmly welcomed them, promising Lin Xiaodi the opportunity to learn and inviting her to visit anytime.
Lin Xiaodi was ecstatic about finally getting the chance to delve into Suzhou embroidery, marveling at the single-sided and double-sided embroidery, learning that the latter required at least ten years of experience. Back at home, both Lin Xiaodi and Lu Yuheng were privately pondering the kiss from the previous night. Lu Yuheng believed that since Lin Xiaodi was sober, she should initiate the conversation, and he was ready to take responsibility.
Lin Xiaodi, on the other hand, tried to convince herself to forget what happened but secretly hoped Lu Yuheng would address it. Her hopes were dashed when Lu Yuheng finally spoke, only to ask if she had cleaned the bathroom because he wanted to shower. Disappointed, she mentally called him an "idiot" for his lack of understanding, and both ended up losing their appetite for breakfast.
Lu Yuheng, feeling Lin Xiaodi was not proactive enough, wished she would "fight for him" so he could take responsibility. Around this time, Zhao Muran moved into the apartment directly opposite Lu Yuheng's, determined not to sit idly by. He planned a "grandest confession" to Lin Xiaodi, a visually stunning and impactful declaration, enlisting Hua's help. Hua expressed concerns about his career, but Zhao Muran was consumed by his romantic pursuit.
He invited Lin Xiaodi to see his new place, which he had decorated entirely to her taste, showing her the custom-designed rooms and wardrobe. He handed her a spare key, telling her it was now her home. Lin Xiaodi covertly hoped Lu Yuheng would intervene. Lu Yuheng did try to stop her, but his attempt to detain her by saying she couldn't leave until she cleaned the dining table only irritated Lin Xiaodi.
She told him to clean it himself and left with Zhao Muran. Lin Xiaodi then gently but firmly reiterated to Zhao Muran that they were only good friends, nothing more. She returned his key and asked him to publicly clarify that she was not his girlfriend, as she didn't want to become a "public enemy." Zhao Muran felt heartbroken but feigned cheerfulness, attempting to distract her by showing off his traditional style figurines.
Later, Ding Yuan invited Lin Xiaodi to a traditional art exhibition. An emergency arose when one of the main Hanfu garments for the exhibit was damaged, causing distress for Ms. Bai. Observing Lin Xiaodi’s Hanfu, which she had designed during her studies at Blooming Jasmine and personally liked enough to make into a finished garment, Ding Yuan realized it matched the exhibition's theme perfectly. He suggested using it as a replacement for the damaged piece.
Lin Xiaodi was pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed when the international partners from Unique Legendary Dream company loved her design, stating it was their favorite among all the new pieces. Seeing her lightly dressed, Ding Yuan kindly offered her his suit jacket. When Lin Xiaodi returned home wearing Ding Yuan's jacket, Lu Yuheng was consumed by jealousy.
He pointedly declared that "other people's clothes" should not be in his house and aggressively pulled the jacket off her, throwing it to the floor. Lin Xiaodi picked it up and confronted him, asking if he was overreacting and if he thought she had changed clothes at Zhao Muran's house, or if he was simply jealous. She clarified that she had texted him about attending Blooming Jasmine's product launching event, where her design was unexpectedly exhibited due to an emergency.
It was chilly, so Ding Yuan had kindly lent her his jacket, which she intended to wash and return. Lu Yuheng, still sulking, disparaged Ding Yuan and dismissed her achievement, asking if simply exhibiting a piece of clothing was truly that exciting. Lin Xiaodi passionately explained that while it might seem insignificant to him, it was a major milestone for her career. Lu Yuheng then suggested she "aim higher" by opening her own costume workshop and holding her own exhibitions.
Lin Xiaodi listed the challenges she faced, including a lack of experience, a team, and financial resources, even after her visit to Ms. Jiang. Lu Yuheng shared his philosophy for success: "want to do it, then do it," emphasizing that overthinking without action leads nowhere. As they continued to bicker, Lu Yuheng asserted that anything in his house belonged to him.
He then demandingly asked Lin Xiaodi to pour him another glass of water, justifying his request by stating, "Because you are in my apartment." Lin Xiaodi realized that if she truly wanted to start a workshop, her immediate next step would be securing a suitable workspace.
Episode 14 Recap
Lin Xiaodi was determined to open her own costume design studio but first needed a workspace. She brought Lu Yuheng a plate of cut apples and massaged his shoulders, expressing concern for his well-being. When he admitted his stomach still bothered him sometimes, she feigned deep guilt, lamenting her failure to care for him and cook his meals, especially his missed lunches. She then proposed cooking his lunch daily at his studio.
Lu Yuheng hesitated, prompting Lin Xiaodi to playfully pretend to give up and leave. He quickly stopped her, explaining he wasn't rejecting her but was simply surprised. He confessed he often got hungry at noon and would welcome her cooking. He offered her a dedicated workspace in his studio so they could commute together.
Seeing her continued feigned reluctance, Lu Yuheng sweetened the deal, offering her a paid position and a large area in his studio for her costume design work, with her cooking serving as rent. He emphasized his team's irregular hours and diet, stating, "I need you," a phrase he repeated at her playful insistence, much to her secret delight. The entire Team Eternity enthusiastically welcomed Lin Xiaodi to their studio.
Lu Yuheng officially announced he was hiring her as the team's mascot, claiming they needed one. Lin Xiaodi was initially offended by being called a "mascot" and threatened to leave, but Lu Yuheng swiftly increased her proposed monthly salary to 8,000 yuan, to be settled daily, at which point she happily accepted, playfully declaring herself a "dainty, cute, and sweet mascot" at his service.
Liu Yan, having anticipated Lu Yuheng's celebratory mood, had already reserved an entire upscale restaurant for their lunch. Upon their arrival, Lin Xiaodi, initially mistaking the studio for a grand hotel due to its impressive scale, was then genuinely amazed by the cool, futuristic interior of the studio itself, which Lu Yuheng proudly stated he had personally designed.
He showed her her new workspace, strategically placed directly opposite his own, and mentioned he had prepared her essential supplies overnight, playfully adding that the costs would be deducted from her salary. Despite her protests, the team members continued to affectionately call her "Mrs. Lu." Soon after, Lin Xiaodi and Han Ruibing excitedly discovered their studio had received its first order for three male Hanfu sets and matching accessories, placed even before they had produced any finished garments.
Han Ruibing praised Lin Xiaodi's design talent. Lin Xiaodi, however, mentioned that a specific male Hanfu design in her draft was not for sale, sparking Han Ruibing's suspicion that it was for someone special. Lin Xiaodi then urgently warned Han Ruibing not to tell Zhao Muran about their new studio, fearing his disruptive presence. Just as she finished speaking, Zhao Muran walked in, revealing that he was their first client.
A jealous Lu Yuheng then appeared and, to one-up Zhao Muran, immediately placed a large order for ten team uniforms, offering to pay in full and provide mannequins. Zhao Muran escalated the rivalry by prepaying five years' worth of clothing deposits. Lin Xiaodi, exasperated by their childish bidding war, ultimately accepted Zhao Muran's long-term order.
Shortly after, another significant order came in online from a seemingly professional client, requesting a custom Hanfu blending traditional and modern elements and paying a 20,000 yuan deposit. While thrilled, Lin Xiaodi, after attempting tailoring, realized her own skills were not sufficient for the complex designs, and discussed with Han Ruibing the need to hire a professional tailor. Later, Lu Yuheng received a disheartening phone call, confirming that the "Little Star" he had been searching for was currently abroad.
He was visibly unsettled, clutching his star necklace. Liu Yan, noticing his boss's distress, asked if he was still bothered by Zhao Muran. Lu Yuheng then directly asked Liu Yan if he had known that Lin Xiaodi was not his "Little Star." Liu Yan admitted that he had realized in the ancient city that their recollections of "Little Star" were different, but he thought it best to let the misunderstanding continue.
Angered by this, Lu Yuheng was cut off by Liu Yan, who then questioned if Lu Yuheng's efforts for Lin Xiaodi were solely because he mistook her for "Little Star." Liu Yan passionately advised him to "cherish the one in front of you," warning that he had already lost one "Little Star" and should not make the same mistake with Lin Xiaodi, as some opportunities might never return.
Lu Yuheng, deep in thought, dismissed Liu Yan, who reiterated the importance of self-reflection. That night, Lin Xiaodi stayed up late cooking dumplings. Lu Yuheng found her and scolded her for her late hours, but she explained she was worried about his stomach. He tried the dumplings and admitted it was his first time eating homemade ones. She affectionately offered to make him any food he hadn't tried before.
Lu Yuheng then posed a hypothetical question: "If you lost something very important, and you thought you had finally found it, only to realize it wasn't the original thing you were looking for, what would you do?" Lin Xiaodi thoughtfully replied that it would depend on whether she liked the newly found thing, adding that "first come, first served" wouldn't matter much if she truly liked it.
The next day, Lin Xiaodi, realizing her own tailoring skills weren't sufficient for the complex designs, discussed with Han Ruibing the need for a professional tailor. Han Ruibing playfully suggested they go on a "blind date" to find one and also relax. Team member Xiaofeng overheard this, misinterpreted it as a romantic "blind date" for the two women, and excitedly reported it to Lu Yuheng and Liu Yan, exaggerating the "chance of cheating" to eighty percent.
Lu Yuheng, enraged by the news, grabbed a toy gun in frustration, prompting his teammates to try and calm him down. Meanwhile, Lin Xiaodi and Han Ruibing successfully interviewed and recruited a handsome and polite tailor named Yang Fan, who readily agreed to join their studio. Upon their return, Lin Xiaodi proudly introduced Yang Fan to the team.
Lu Yuheng, observing Yang Fan's charm, muttered to Liu Yan that Yang Fan looked like a "pretty boy" and might be trying to steal their girlfriends. As Lin Xiaodi and Yang Fan discussed their shared interest in learning from Ms. Jiang, an embroidery master, and Yang Fan offered to facilitate Lin Xiaodi's lessons, a jealous Lu Yuheng abruptly interrupted them, feigning annoyance at Lin Xiaodi's messy desk.
He then took out his phone and called Ms. Jiang directly, securing a lesson appointment for Lin Xiaodi for the following day. Lin Xiaodi questioned his possessive behavior, but he dismissed it as a minor matter. She affirmed her need to pursue her own work, though Lu Yuheng suspected she was merely using it as an excuse to flirt with Yang Fan. Lu Yuheng, increasingly "sour," complained about her constant mention of Yang Fan's name.
When she defended Yang Fan's talents, including his skill in fruit carving, Lu Yuheng, determined to outdo him, declared he could do it too. Despite Lin Xiaodi's protests about him wasting carrots, he rushed into the kitchen. He soon emerged, proudly presenting a carved carrot in the shape of the "Eternal Star," a unique design he had seen in Lin Xiaodi's draft. As he held it, Liu Yan's earlier words about not missing out on Lin Xiaodi echoed in his mind.
Episode 15 Recap
Jiang Aihua praised Lin Xiaodi's design talent, expressing her hope that Lin Xiaodi's designs, when integrated with Suzhou embroidery, could help overcome the cultural bottlenecks facing the craft. Jiang Aihua believed that by giving Lin Xiaodi this opportunity, she was also securing a future for Suzhou embroidery. Lin Xiaodi deeply appreciated the chance, confident that Suzhou embroidery would indeed have a beautiful future.
Jiang Aihua presented Lin Xiaodi with some of her own embroidery works, stating that if Lin Xiaodi successfully incorporated them into her designs to a satisfactory degree, she would consider a future collaboration. Before they parted, Jiang Aihua urged Lin Xiaodi to cherish Lu Yuheng, revealing that he had spent fifteen years searching for his "Little Star." This revelation deeply affected Lin Xiaodi.
She realized that Lu Yuheng had been mistaking her for his childhood companion, his "Little Star," and that this person had always held a special place in his heart. Looking at a photo of herself and Lu Yuheng, Lin Xiaodi replayed their past interactions, concluding that he had viewed her as a replacement for someone else. Overwhelmed by emotion, she broke down in tears in her room.
Lu Yuheng, unaware of her distress, ventured out in the dark to surprise her, only to find her in tears. Lin Xiaodi confronted Lu Yuheng, asserting that she was not a substitute for anyone and that he didn't need to treat her kindly for the sake of another person. Fearing a misunderstanding, Lu Yuheng refused to leave.
He earnestly declared his feelings, assuring her that in his heart, Lin Xiaodi was uniquely herself, not a replacement for anyone, and that she was the person he now cherished most. He reminded her of her previous promise to always stay by his side, no matter how dark the path ahead, and pledged to remain with her. Attempting to ease the tension, Lu Yuheng offered Lin Xiaodi a glass of water, but she ignored him.
His persistent efforts to push the water towards her backfired, leading him to accidentally spill it all over her design notebook. Lin Xiaodi was furious, declaring the damaged notebook beyond repair. Just then, Lin Xiaodi's mother unexpectedly called, announcing her return to the country and her presence on the balcony of Lin Xiaodi's original apartment, planning to visit immediately to thank the "lady neighbor" who had taken Lin Xiaodi in.
Panicked, Lin Xiaodi frantically dragged Lu Yuheng into the room, demanding he quickly remove his clothes. When he asked why, she explained her mother's imminent arrival and her need for him to disguise himself. Lu Yuheng misunderstood her intention, thinking she wanted him to confirm their relationship to her mother.
When Lin Xiaodi clarified she wanted him to wear women's clothing and a wig to pretend to be her "lady roommate," he flatly refused, saying he would only agree if she forgave him. Lin Xiaodi, with her mother already at the door, had no time to debate. As the doorbell rang incessantly, Lu Yuheng, without hesitation, rushed to open it. Lin Xiaodi's mother was visibly surprised to see a man.
After confirming it was indeed Lin Xiaodi's residence, she stepped inside. Lin Xiaodi quickly introduced Lu Yuheng as her landlord, but he jokingly contradicted her, pointing out she hadn't paid rent. During their playful argument, Lin Xiaodi repeatedly brought up Lu Yuheng's "Little Star," while Lu Yuheng listed the many things he does for her, emphasizing they spend sixteen hours a day together, though Lin Xiaodi insisted it was a commercial employer-employee relationship.
Her mother, observing their dynamic, recognized it as a lovers' spat and sensed Lu Yuheng's deep affection for Lin Xiaodi, noting his gaze never left her. She advised Lin Xiaodi not to dwell on the past, cautioning that some missed opportunities could be regretted for a lifetime.
When Lin Xiaodi’s mother expressed her intention to stay with them, Lu Yuheng welcomed her, but Lin Xiaodi tried to insist her mother book a hotel room, citing Lu Yuheng's dislike for disturbances and his "Little Star." Her mother suggested she and Lin Xiaodi share a room, to which Lu Yuheng agreed.
Later that night, Lu Yuheng faked a power outage in his room, claiming his storage station was also broken, and approached Lin Xiaodi's room with a small lamp, seeking comfort. Still annoyed by his earlier antics with her mother, Lin Xiaodi was unsympathetic and told him to go back to his room. However, Lu Yuheng deliberately gasped loudly, making it impossible for her to sleep. She reluctantly agreed to accompany him to his room until he fell asleep.
She told him to hold her sleeve, but he took her hand instead, causing her to secretly smile despite feigning annoyance. Lin Xiaodi asked why he was so afraid of the dark. Lu Yuheng then shared painful childhood memories of being bullied, called a "beggar," and locked in a dark warehouse, with a children's chant "little beggar picks up leftovers, dirty and stinky, no one loves him" echoing his trauma.
Lin Xiaodi’s eyes filled with sympathy, and she assured him that no one would ever bully him again, promising to protect him. He then asked her to lie down, but she, feeling shy, made an excuse about being thirsty and needing to get water. He pulled her onto the bed, creating a moment of intimacy. However, Lin Xiaodi soon discovered several small night lights hidden under his bed, realizing he had faked the power outage to gain her sympathy.
She confronted him for "playing pitiful" and "pretending to be helpless," demanding an explanation for his fabricated story and the hidden lights. Lu Yuheng insisted his childhood stories were true and claimed he didn't know how the lights got there, also whispering for her to keep her voice down so as not to wake her mother.
The next morning, Lin Xiaodi asked Lu Yuheng if her mother had left, and he confirmed she had not and had not closed the door, meaning they needed to continue hiding.
Episode 16 Recap
Lin Xiaodi woke up with a start, realizing she had spent the night in Lu Yuheng's room. She checked the time, 8:20 AM, and panicked, knowing her mother must be awake. She feared there would be no way to explain why she was in Lu Yuheng's room and that her mother would surely get the wrong idea. In the kitchen, Lu Yuheng was already helping Lin Xiaodi's mother prepare breakfast.
Mrs. Lin patiently showed him how to peel tomatoes by blanching them, explaining it makes the skin come off easily. She encouraged him to learn as much as possible, remarking that if he learned to cook, Lin Xiaodi would have less housework, as her hands were meant for design, not chores. Lu Yuheng eagerly offered to slice cucumbers, and Mrs. Lin taught him the technique, jokingly mentioning how Lin Xiaodi almost cut her finger when she first learned.
Lu Yuheng then shared that he grew up without a mother in an orphanage, which deeply saddened Mrs. Lin. She lovingly assured him that once he and Lin Xiaodi were together, she would be his mother and take good care of him, warming his heart. Mrs. Lin called Lin Xiaodi to breakfast, but Lin Xiaodi, feeling flustered, asked when her mother had woken up.
Mrs. Lin revealed she had been awake for a while and had found both Lin Xiaodi and Lu Yuheng still asleep with the door open. Lin Xiaodi immediately tried to explain, but her mother cut her off, saying Lu Yuheng had already clarified that there was a blackout, and due to his fear of the dark, Lin Xiaodi had simply stayed with him.
Lin Xiaodi felt relieved, but then, she confronted Lu Yuheng, accusing him of misleading her mother with some "fishy" explanation. Mrs. Lin quickly intervened, scolding Lin Xiaodi for her tone and declaring that Lu Yuheng was now like a son to her and Lin Xiaodi shouldn't bully him. This only irritated Lin Xiaodi further, making her fume at the cozy dynamic between Lu Yuheng and her mother, especially after the previous night's unresolved issues.
Due to the ongoing scandal, Zhao Muran's contracts were almost all terminated, and the resulting liquidated damages far exceeded his savings. His new movie's release had also been postponed. Hua, his manager, advised him to make a public apology, believing his fans wouldn't abandon him if he clarified his stance. However, Zhao Muran refused, stating that the "stance" they wanted was for him to publicly announce he didn't like Lin Xiaodi.
His cousin, Zhao Jinxuan, then gave him an ultimatum: choose between his career and his love. Zhao Muran declared he would take responsibility for his actions, offering to have his assistant transfer all his assets. Zhao Jinxuan, deciding it was time for Zhao Muran to face consequences, instructed Hua to confiscate Zhao Muran's car, as it was "high time he learned a hard lesson."
After breakfast, Mrs. Lin continued to teach Lu Yuheng more household skills, showing him how to make dumplings. She complimented his talent for housework, remarking that he was learning quickly, and expressed deep care for him, which warmed his heart. Mrs. Lin also shared her concern about Lu Yuheng's gastric problems, advising him to eat well and dress warmly.
This peaceful atmosphere was broken by the arrival of Zhao Muran, who immediately called Mrs. Lin "Mom," much to Lu Yuheng's annoyance. Mrs. Lin then subtly tried to help Lu Yuheng by suggesting he get orange juice for Lin Xiaodi, knowing it was her favorite. However, Lin Xiaodi had already accepted an orange from Zhao Muran and politely declined Lu Yuheng's offer.
Seeing this, Mrs. Lin subtly advised Lu Yuheng, reminding him of the saying, "Act before the other guy does," and emphasizing that in love, silence is never golden; one must express their feelings and intentions clearly. At the dinner table, she strategically invited Zhao Muran to sit beside her, creating further rivalry between him and Lu Yuheng. The two men continued their subtle competition for Lin Xiaodi's attention. Suddenly, Lu Yuheng bit into a coin in his dumpling.
Mrs. Lin announced that according to their family tradition, he could make one wish. Lu Yuheng looked at Lin Xiaodi and requested that she accompany him to a movie that night. Lin Xiaodi immediately worried about his fear of the dark, especially as the movie would involve turning off the lights. Later that night, Lu Yuheng took Lin Xiaodi to a movie theater, despite her initial concern about his fear of the dark.
There, he presented her with her repaired notebook, telling her that even broken things can be mended with effort and determination. He then confessed that while "Little Star" was his most important playmate as a seven-year-old, Lin Xiaodi was the person he cherished most now. He didn't want to miss his chance or live with regret, asking her not to leave him.
Deeply moved, Lin Xiaodi, despite his earlier antics, assured him she wasn't leaving and playfully called him a "wimp," promising to protect him. As the movie began and the lights dimmed, Lu Yuheng, still afraid of the dark, embraced Lin Xiaodi tightly, claiming it made him feel "more manly." Before her departure, Mrs. Lin arranged for renovation workers to update Lin Xiaodi's house, promising her a giant closet, new bed, and table.
However, during her farewells, Mrs. Lin showered Lu Yuheng with advice on diet and health, encouraging him to hold onto the person he liked and promising to cook for him next time. Despite Lin Xiaodi's repeated pleas, Mrs. Lin barely acknowledged her, causing Lin Xiaodi to exclaim in frustration that Lu Yuheng was clearly her mother's real child.
Even after Mrs. Lin left, Lin Xiaodi continued to complain to Lu Yuheng about her mother's favoritism, feeling neglected until she received a 50,000 yuan transfer and a loving message from her mother, telling her to take care of herself and come home if she was tired. Meanwhile, Liu Yan and Han Ruibing were out together, playfully bickering while also subtly showing care for each other by offering digestive and liver tonic pills.
Liu Yan's phone rang with an urgent call from Lu Yuheng, summoning him to the studio for an emergency meeting. Once there, Lu Yuheng, feeling desperate about his relationship with Lin Xiaodi, sought Liu Yan's advice as a "love expert." Liu Yan, embracing the role, provided a detailed "love lesson," explaining that modern girls are attracted to men who are rich, handsome, and can be both "composed and sweet."
He noted that Lu Yuheng already possessed the rich and handsome qualities, as well as the composed demeanor, but needed to cultivate the "sweet" aspect, which essentially meant being more affectionate and "clingy." Liu Yan confidently asserted that this approach would quickly improve Lu Yuheng's relationship with Lin Xiaodi, assuring him it was a tried-and-true method.
Hua continued to urge Zhao Muran to publicly clarify his scandal and salvage his career, revealing that Zhao Jinxuan had given up on him and was even trying to poach Lu Yuheng. However, Zhao Muran had a different idea. He asked Hua to arrange a press conference, not to clarify the scandal, but to publicly propose to Lin Xiaodi.
He pleaded with Hua, admitting he had been reckless but emphasizing that he didn't want to live with regret or see his "Xiaodi" taken from him. Seeing his desperation, Hua, who considered him like a brother, reluctantly agreed to help him one last time, on the condition that he would then seriously focus on his career.
Episode 17 Recap
Lu Yuheng, inspired by Liu Yan's advice to be more forward, surprised Lin Xiaodi late one evening by announcing he had prepared supper and urged her to join him. Lin Xiaodi, caught off guard and busy with her hanfu designs, initially declined, finding his sudden shift from his usual reserved demeanor perplexing. However, Lu Yuheng persisted, playfully tugging her hand and sweetly insisting he had made enough for two and wanted her company.
Conceding to his unusual charm, Lin Xiaodi followed him to the dining table, where she found two bowls of instant noodles. Amused, she asked who taught him such "love tricks," but he just smiled, and she agreed to eat with him. Later, Liu Yan suggested that Lu Yuheng try a simpler approach by giving Lin Xiaodi a gift.
But Lu Yuheng had his own plan, presenting Lin Xiaodi with a bank card and telling her to use it for all her living expenses. Delighted, Lin Xiaodi playfully asked if he was handing over his salary, then eagerly accepted what she called her "mascot's wage." She even correctly guessed the password, his birthday followed by two zeros, showing her awareness of his October 28th birthday.
Impressed, Lu Yuheng further astonished her by revealing more personal details, such as her Scorpio zodiac sign, A blood type, her record-breaking time for the Tower of King's challenge, and even that the Peak's PK system was modified thrice due to her, and the game's Sword Master limited-edition skins were based on her image—information not publicly available.
He teasingly kept his sources secret, while Lin Xiaodi, charmed, remarked that she would be even more interested in him if he consistently paid her. Meanwhile, Zhao Muran arrived at Lin Xiaodi's door late at night after wrapping up his work, looking for her. He urgently invited her to his press conference scheduled for 5 PM the day after tomorrow. Lin Xiaodi, busy with commissions for both him and Lu Yuheng, initially hesitated.
Zhao Muran, acting childishly, begged her to attend, promising to behave in the future. She called him immature, urging him to handle his work independently, but he then offered to trade all his accumulated "points"—from a previous playful agreement between them—for her presence. Lin Xiaodi finally agreed but made him promise to stay backstage and not "spout nonsense" in front of the media, implying he should avoid any inappropriate declarations. Zhao Muran enthusiastically accepted her terms.
The next day, Liu Yan excitedly informed Lu Yuheng that the lineup press conference for The Peak was also set for 5 PM the day after tomorrow. As Team Eternity's first public appearance, it was an important event for all teams. Liu Yan encouraged Lu Yuheng to use his "ultimate technique"—a personal invitation—to ask Lin Xiaodi to join them, having already called her over.
However, when Lin Xiaodi heard the time, she was distraught, realizing the conflict with Zhao Muran's event, which she had already promised to attend. Liu Yan immediately grew suspicious of Zhao Muran's intentions, fearing he would publicly declare their fake relationship, calling such a move "shameless" and "despicable." Lin Xiaodi tried to reassure him, believing Zhao Muran merely wished to clarify a scandal.
Despite Liu Yan's insistence that her presence at Team Eternity's debut was crucial, Lu Yuheng, seeing her distress, gently retrieved the invitation. He told her it was fine if she didn't attend and that their public appearance wasn't that important, not wanting to put her in a difficult situation. On the day of the press conferences, Lin Xiaodi waited backstage at Zhao Muran's event.
Hua welcomed her, assuring her that as it was Muran's private space, only those close to him could enter. Shortly after, Han Ruibing called, expressing disbelief that Lin Xiaodi would choose "Narcissistic Ran" over supporting "Whiz" at Team Eternity's significant debut. Lin Xiaodi reiterated her prior commitment to Zhao Muran and her feelings of guilt, explaining she couldn't abandon her best friend. Hua subtly intervened, acknowledging Lin Xiaodi's feelings for Lu Yuheng but emphasizing her importance to Zhao Muran.
Still, Lin Xiaodi felt a strong pull towards Team Eternity's event. Seeing her internal struggle, Hua offered to share some things about Zhao Muran's past efforts, promising not to stop her if she still wished to leave. Hua recounted how she had been Muran's manager since his debut, describing him as a stubborn and challenging artist.
She then revealed Muran's quiet acts of kindness for Lin Xiaodi: he fiercely debated with his brother for half a month just to attend a traditional art exhibition with her, personally pulled strings to secure a stall qualification certificate for her (though she was already setting up her stall when it was delivered), and arranged for her exhibition tickets to be delivered discreetly.
Lin Xiaodi was shocked, then realized the anonymous fabrics she had received for her designs must also have been from him. Hua confirmed this, explaining Muran's fear that Lin Xiaodi would refuse them if she knew they were from him, so he painstakingly searched company warehouses to find suitable materials. Hua concluded by stressing that everyone close to Muran knew Lin Xiaodi was his "bottom line," and implored her to stay as a personal request.
Deeply moved by these revelations, Lin Xiaodi decided to remain backstage for Zhao Muran. Hua then enthusiastically discussed preparing a surprise for Muran with Lin Xiaodi's presence. Meanwhile, at The Peak press conference, Team Eternity members lamented Lin Xiaodi's and Han Ruibing's absence. They observed that Shao Hai's team, Jiesa, had completely changed its lineup, suspecting it was a tactic to prevent Lu Yuheng from exploiting their past strategies.
News of Zhao Muran's press conference, trending with speculation of a public relationship announcement, reached them. Lu Yuheng, who had been resting with his eyes closed, found his hand instinctively twitching towards his phone upon hearing the news. Their teammate, Gu Tong, then returned with frustrating news: Jiesa had colluded with sponsors to delay Team Eternity's stage time by a full hour for a "mini-event." Enraged, Liu Yan and others immediately wanted to confront Shao Hai.
Lu Yuheng, however, stopped them, calmly stating that it was only a press conference, not an official match, and there was no need for a direct confrontation. He instructed his teammates to monitor the situation outside while he took a nap, as he hadn't slept well the previous night. Just as Hua was making final preparations for Lin Xiaodi's surprise appearance at Zhao Muran's press conference, Han Ruibing rushed into the backstage area.
She strongly rebuked Lin Xiaodi for considering staying with "Narcissistic Ran" instead of supporting "Whiz" at Team Eternity's important debut. Lin Xiaodi explained her prior commitment, but Han Ruibing quickly countered, reminding her of Lu Yuheng's profound sacrifices—how he bravely overcame his severe nyctophobia to venture into darkness for her countless times, risking his life.
She also recounted how Lu Yuheng protected Lin Xiaodi during a previous public scandal, working tirelessly for days without sleep, sacrificing livestream opportunities and missing out on the "streamer of the year" award, all to shield Lin Xiaodi from negative public opinion. Han Ruibing then revealed that Team Eternity's stage time had been delayed, meaning they could still make it to the event. With only a minute to decide, Lin Xiaodi chose to go with Han Ruibing.
They rushed to The Peak press conference. On stage, reporters questioned Shao Hai about his confidence in facing Team Eternity after Lu Yuheng's departure, to which he gave a diplomatic but confident response. Another player was asked about her feelings on becoming Lu Yuheng's opponent; she expressed respect and a desire to collaborate with him again.
When Lu Yuheng finally appeared on stage, reporters barraged him with questions, not only about the upcoming e-sports matches but also about the confusing status of Lin Xiaodi—his proclaimed "sister" who was also rumored to be Zhao Muran's girlfriend. Lin Xiaodi, now on stage, stepped forward and introduced herself clearly, stating that she was neither Zhao Muran's rumored girlfriend nor Lu Yuheng's sister.
She clarified that previous statements were made to help her out, apologized for the deception, and reiterated that she and Zhao Muran were just good friends. Ignoring her attempts to set the record straight, reporters pressed her further about living with Lu Yuheng and her relationship with him. Unable to tolerate the relentless questioning, Lu Yuheng took the microphone from her. He emphatically declared that from that moment on, any questions concerning Lin Xiaodi should be directed to him.
With unwavering resolve, he stated, "From today onward, Lin Xiaodi is my person. I will protect everything that belongs to her." The crowd erupted in gasps and excitement at his public declaration. Simultaneously, at Zhao Muran's press conference, Lin Xiaodi's abrupt departure was marked by a note she left, apologizing for not waiting and promising a full explanation later, along with good wishes for his press conference. However, news of Lu Yuheng's public declaration about Lin Xiaodi quickly spread.
Reporters, who had initially asked Zhao Muran about his promised relationship announcement, now swarmed him with accusations of using Lin Xiaodi for hype, given her public clarification and Lu Yuheng's confession. Hua, seeing the chaos, attempted to escort Zhao Muran away, but he resisted. Returning to the podium, he made a solemn confession: "Everything was my own initiative. It has nothing to do with Lin Xiaodi at all. She's the victim of this rumor.
Please stop making things difficult for her." Despite the tense atmosphere, he then offered to sing a song he had prepared, bringing a different kind of closure to his press conference. Witnessing Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi's public announcement, Liu Yan and the other Team Eternity members were overjoyed. Seizing the moment, Liu Yan turned to Han Ruibing, subtly asking if their fake relationship needed to continue now that Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi were officially together.
Han Ruibing, misinterpreting his question as an attempt to distance himself from her to pursue a "junior," became indignant. She angrily accused him of secretly flirting and wanting to abandon her. Liu Yan, taken aback, then accused her of daily flirting with the 'little tailor' (referring to Lin Xiaodi), before passionately responding by calling her "my Tank" and daring anyone to try and take her away. Their heated argument quickly revealed their true, mutual feelings for each other.
Liu Yan then directly asked if she liked him. After a moment of hesitation, Han Ruibing clarified that admiration and love were distinct; her feelings for Lu Yuheng were purely admiration, but for Liu Yan, it was different. She admitted he was "pretty good." Realizing she reciprocated his feelings, Liu Yan joyfully asked if they could continue their relationship, then swept her into a celebratory princess carry amidst the cheers of their teammates.
Their celebratory mood was interrupted when Shao Hai and his team unexpectedly appeared, intending to provoke them. Shao Hai immediately mocked Liu Yan as "Lu Yuheng's loyal follower" and attempted to escalate the situation by trying to physically assault him. Han Ruibing, however, swiftly intervened, protecting Liu Yan. When Liu Yan stated that Lu Yuheng had already left, Shao Hai sneered, implying Lu Yuheng had "escaped" and disparaging Lu Yuheng and Team Eternity as "useless."
Enraged that he dared to insult "her man," Han Ruibing grabbed Shao Hai by the hair, violently yanking it as she declared, "How dare you touch my man?" A chaotic brawl ensued, with other teammates attempting to pull Han Ruibing off a disheveled Shao Hai. Liu Yan, far from being upset, proudly admired his "unique" woman.
Episode 18 Recap
Feeling remorseful for standing up Zhao Muran, Lin Xiaodi waited for him downstairs. Zhao Muran, who had just finished a press conference and a subsequent gathering, arrived slightly drunk. He gently noted the evening chill and offered her his jacket, and shared that although he was in a terrible mood, seeing her made him feel better. Lin Xiaodi, feeling overwhelmed by his constant tolerance, urged him to express anger or even punch her.
Zhao Muran, however, simply stated that as childhood friends, he naturally tolerated her. He then probed her feelings, asking how it felt to confess to Lu Yuheng and if she truly liked him. Lin Xiaodi confirmed her affection for Lu Yuheng, which visibly saddened Zhao Muran. Gently, she advised him to seek his own happiness, explaining that the person meant for him was not her.
Zhao Muran, trying to appear unaffected, claimed that as a celebrity, countless girls existed for him and she should not feel guilty. He suggested she date Lu Yuheng, predicting that his eccentric temper would eventually lead her back to him. Lin Xiaodi reiterated her genuine feelings for Lu Yuheng, causing Zhao Muran to ask her not to "pour salt on his wound" as he was already heartbroken. When Lin Xiaodi offered to help, he declined, stating he had a date.
As Lin Xiaodi expressed disbelief, Tianyin arrived, calling out to Zhao Muran and apologizing for her lateness, thus confirming his "date." Observing Tianyin's evident concern for Zhao Muran, Lin Xiaodi, feeling a sense of quiet comfort, excused herself and left. Once alone, Zhao Muran confessed to Tianyin that he had truly lost Lin Xiaodi and felt as though he had lost everything. Tianyin comforted him, reassuring him that she would always be there for him.
Lu Yuheng later presented Lin Xiaodi with a list of five "relationship modes" he had meticulously prepared: Mutual-Respect, Making-a-Scene, Raising-a-Child, Lovey-Dovey, and Friend Mode. Lin Xiaodi found the "Raising-a-Child Mode," which Lu Yuheng described as treating one's partner with boundless love, care, and tolerance like a child, amusing. When asked to choose, Lin Xiaodi said any mode was fine, asking for his preference.
Lu Yuheng, admitting he was nervous as it was his first relationship, reiterated his willingness to accommodate her. Lin Xiaodi, also new to romance, suggested they simply continue their interactions as they always had, without needing to change, as she appreciated him just the way he was. Lu Yuheng readily agreed, expressing his anticipation for their future together, a sentiment Lin Xiaodi reciprocated.
Lin Xiaodi, Han Ruibing, and Yang Fan celebrated the successful completion of "Star Studio's" first major order, eagerly awaiting the arrival of their mysterious client. To their astonishment, it was Mr. Ding, accompanied by Director Bai. Lin Xiaodi introduced Yang Fan as the tailor and Han Ruibing as the marketing and operations lead. Director Bai initially voiced skepticism about working with such a young team. However, Mr. Ding quickly countered that youth offered "infinite potential."
Upon reviewing the garments, which elegantly incorporated master Jiang Aihua's embroidery with proper authorization, Mr. Ding was thoroughly impressed. He praised how Lin Xiaodi's design harmonized perfectly with Jiang Aihua's exquisite embroidery, complemented by Yang Fan's precise tailoring and Han Ruibing's effective promotional strategies. He declared that their trio had "exceeded his expectations completely." Even the notoriously critical Director Bai conceded the work was "exquisite indeed."
Mr. Ding revealed the order had been a test of their capabilities, affirming his trust in Lin Xiaodi. He then invited her to showcase her designs at an upcoming traditional culture fashion exhibition he was organizing. Lin Xiaodi, expressing gratitude, accepted, though she mentioned another ongoing order. Mr. Ding assured her there was ample time and promised to confirm the exact schedule later. Director Bai subtly advised Lin Xiaodi not to disappoint Mr. Ding, implying his considerable support.
Lin Xiaodi pledged that her team would prove their worth. Han Ruibing, observing Lin Xiaodi and Lu Yuheng's hesitant relationship progress, became impatient. She advised Lin Xiaodi to put on her "wildest, most uninhibited clothes" and "wall-slam" Lu Yuheng when he was least expecting it, delivering a bold line. Lin Xiaodi, misunderstanding "wild" to mean "wild masculine," appeared before Lu Yuheng in a shirt, tie, jacket, and a fake mustache. She dramatically declared, "Go ahead and scream.
No one will save you even if you scream. I will take you down today. Am I wild enough?" Lu Yuheng, finding her antics amusing, gave her three minutes to change and return to normal. Lin Xiaodi, misinterpreting his reaction as shyness, silently congratulated herself, believing Han Ruibing's plan was effective. However, when she attempted to deliver the prescribed line—"I alone can give you enough sense of security.
Tell those brats to stay away from you"—she comically mixed it up, proclaiming, "Lu Yuheng, I alone can provide you with enough brats. Tell your sense of security to stay away from you!" Lu Yuheng pointed out her mistake, and a deeply embarrassed Lin Xiaodi quickly fled his room. Later, listening to a recording of her botched lines, she agonized over her "humiliating" mistake.
Still mortified by her failed attempt, Lin Xiaodi tried to avoid Lu Yuheng, immersing herself in design work. Lu Yuheng, however, confronted her, asking if she was intentionally avoiding him. She denied it, claiming she was simply busy. He then insisted she take his measurements for the team uniform immediately. After she complied, Lin Xiaodi suggested measuring the rest of the team at the studio the next day.
Lu Yuheng, with a possessive tone, declared that from that moment on, she was "only allowed to take his measurements." He then playfully referenced her earlier "wild" attempt, offering to "cater to her liking" if she truly desired a "wilder relationship." Lin Xiaodi quickly blamed Han Ruibing for the idea, acknowledging that both she and Lu Yuheng seemed to be manipulated by Han Ruibing and Liu Yan.
She reiterated her commitment to finding a suitable relationship dynamic for them and asked for his patience. Lu Yuheng then leaned in and gently kissed her forehead. Separately, Han Ruibing was upset, tearfully confiding in Liu Yan that her parents were getting a divorce after she suggested it during one of their arguments. She expressed her sadness that her life wasn't as perfect as a fairy tale.
Liu Yan comforted her, saying that no one has a completely perfect life and that she was fortunate to have her parents' love. He affectionately reassured her that he could be anything she wanted him to be—a "handsome thug," a "bossy CEO," or her "little boy"—her "Little Monster" who would always accommodate her needs. Later, despite Liu Yan being tired from training and almost missing dinner, Han Ruibing insisted he join her for a meal.
She then proposed they go on a trip, even overseas, to test their compatibility, citing advice from a "love manual" and Lu Yuheng's promise of a team break after the city qualifiers. Liu Yan initially tried to delay the trip, citing the upcoming city qualifiers, but Han Ruibing insisted. Liu Yan, witnessing the burgeoning romance between Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi, hesitantly asked Han Ruibing if it was time to end their "fake relationship."
Han Ruibing, clearly displeased, firmly refused his suggestion. Feeling disheartened, Liu Yan confessed that he believed their differences were too profound for them to be truly compatible. Han Ruibing vehemently rejected this notion. Just at that moment, Shao Hai and his crew arrived, seeking to stir up trouble. Han Ruibing immediately shielded Liu Yan behind her and swiftly fended off the provocateurs with surprising combat skills, leaving the other members of Team Eternity astonished by her prowess.
Meanwhile, Zhao Muran was struggling to revive his acting career. He called several directors, including Mr. Zhang and Mr. Li, offering to take on even supporting roles, but was met with polite rejections and excuses of busy schedules. Frustrated, he wondered if they had forgotten how they used to seek him out. He then called Tianyin, asking her to try and get him a script for Director Meng's period drama, specifically telling her not to inform Zhao Jinxuan.
Zhao Jinxuan approached Lu Yuheng with an offer to invest in Team Eternity, acknowledging their financial difficulties while preparing for competition. Lu Yuheng, wary of Zhao Jinxuan's relation to Zhao Muran, questioned his true intentions. Zhao Jinxuan asserted he was a businessman focused solely on commercial profits, predicting substantial returns from Team Eternity, and clarifying that he had no intention of pushing Lu Yuheng into the entertainment industry.
He highlighted the team's "huge funding pressure" and appealed to Lu Yuheng's responsibility towards his team members. Lu Yuheng, noting Zhao Jinxuan's detailed knowledge of his situation, demanded to know the "additional conditions" for this investment. Zhao Jinxuan, pleased with Lu Yuheng's shrewdness, revealed his "small request": he wanted Lu Yuheng to "stage an act" with him to motivate his younger cousin, Zhao Muran, who he described as "hard to handle" and lacking ambition, to focus on his career.
He pointed out the dual benefit: a busy Zhao Muran would mean "one less love rival" for Lu Yuheng. Lu Yuheng agreed to help Zhao Muran but imposed his own strict conditions: no commercial performances, advertisements, promotions, or involvement in the entertainment industry, all of which had to be legally binding in their contract. Zhao Jinxuan readily accepted. Lin Xiaodi visited Sunny Orphanage, introducing herself to the director and offering to make clothes for the children.
The director observed Lin Xiaodi's familiar demeanor and asked if she had lived there before. Lin Xiaodi confirmed she had, explaining she was adopted as a very young child and subsequently moved overseas. Recognizing Lin Xiaodi's passion for Hanfu, the director recalled a little girl who shared the same love for traditional clothing, who was adopted and taken abroad. She confirmed it was indeed Lin Xiaodi.
The director then asked if Lin Xiaodi remembered a specific boy, her constant companion at the orphanage who always shared his treats and toys and loved playing on the swing with her. She recounted how heartbroken the boy was when Lin Xiaodi left, falling ill and becoming withdrawn, always waiting for her return and never giving up his search for her over the years. Lin Xiaodi was stunned by this revelation, asking, "He's waiting for me?"
The director confirmed he had indeed been searching for her for many years. Shortly after, the director called Lu Yuheng (it was on the phone), informing him that his "Little Star"—the girl he had tirelessly searched for—had "appeared" and was currently at the orphanage, urging him to come quickly. Lu Yuheng hesitated, explaining he now had a girlfriend and felt it inappropriate to meet her.
However, the director pressed him, emphasizing his 15-year search and describing the girl as very kind. She then revealed the girl had changed her name and was now called "Lin Xiaodi," having recently returned from overseas. Lu Yuheng was left in stunned silence upon hearing her name.
Episode 19 Recap
Lin Xiaodi found herself at the swings of an old orphanage, a place that triggered memories of her childhood with a boy she called Heng. A wave of guilt washed over her as she realized how long she had forgotten him. Just then, Lu Yuheng appeared, holding a matching star necklace. Recognition dawned on Lin Xiaodi: her childhood Heng was none other than Lu Yuheng.
He declared that he had finally found her, his Little Star, after searching for fifteen years, only to discover she was right by his side. They had once made a promise that if she still liked him after fifteen years, he would marry her. Lu Yuheng expressed his immense relief that Lin Xiaodi was both the girl he loved and his long-lost Little Star. After their reunion, Lu Yuheng became incredibly affectionate, much to Lin Xiaodi's bashfulness.
As she prepared breakfast in the kitchen, he clung to her from behind, moving with her every step. He fed her fruit and they exchanged kisses on the cheek. Lin Xiaodi, flustered by his constant attention, told him she couldn't cook with him distracting her. Lu Yuheng, unwilling to let go, suggested she stop cooking altogether.
Meanwhile, Tianyin was deeply concerned about Zhao Muran's dispirited state and offered to move in to care for him, urging him to move on from Lin Xiaodi. Zhao Muran, however, defended Lin Xiaodi, asserting she was not to blame for his current predicament. Exasperated, Tianyin felt compelled to express her true feelings, stating she couldn't bear to see someone she cherished so deeply be hurt by another woman.
She confessed that she had loved him for many years, a love no less intense than his for Lin Xiaodi, and that it pained her deeply every time he suffered for Lin Xiaodi. Zhao Muran dismissed her emotional outburst, suggesting they talk once she had calmed down. Tianyin, however, stood firm, declaring she never saw him as a brother and explicitly told him she loved him. Despite Zhao Muran’s attempt to pacify her and suggest she stay, Tianyin left, heartbroken.
At Lin Xiaodi's home, Han Ruibing arrived, visibly upset. She expressed envy over Lin Xiaodi and Lu Yuheng's smooth relationship, lamenting her own struggles with Liu Yan, who constantly avoided her suggestions for travel. Lin Xiaodi, having heard from Lu Yuheng, revealed that Liu Yan's grandmother was unwell and residing in a nursing home, possibly explaining his reluctance to travel. Yang Fan echoed this sentiment, adding that men often prefer not to burden their girlfriends with their troubles.
This prompted Han Ruibing to seek out Liu Yan's grandmother herself. Han Ruibing visited Liu Yan's grandmother at the nursing home and spent the afternoon caring for her, endearing herself to both the elderly woman and the staff.
When a nurse approached to collect overdue fees, Han Ruibing proactively paid a full year's worth and arranged for a premium 24-hour caregiver, replacing the grandmother's daily necessities with expensive new items, all paid for with her own "little stash" of New Year gift money. Later, Liu Yan arrived with the intention of paying the quarterly fees, only to be informed by the nurse that Han Ruibing had already taken care of everything.
Confronting Han Ruibing, Liu Yan accused her of humiliating him. He explained that since his parents died when he was four, his ailing grandmother was his only family, and he worked tirelessly to provide for her. He highlighted the vast financial disparity between them, noting that her casual spending exceeded his half-year's living expenses, and passionately stated his refusal to accept financial help, especially from the woman he loved.
Han Ruibing, hurt by his accusations, clarified her intentions, stating she only wanted to help ease his burden, not to diminish his pride. She revealed she had been imagining a future where they would live together and care for his grandmother. Growing increasingly angry, she criticized his self-pity and inferiority complex, calling him a "hypocritical, self-abasing coward" who lacked backbone, unlike Lu Yuheng whom she admired for his strength.
She concluded by telling him she would not tolerate his self-abasement and would only speak to him once he had truly understood her perspective. Liu Yan then offered her a bank card, explaining it wouldn't cover the full amount but he would pay the rest in installments. Han Ruibing, still furious, rejected the card, demanding the full sum upfront. Han Ruibing, now deeply distressed, confided in Lin Xiaodi, sobbing over Liu Yan's accusations.
Lin Xiaodi comforted her, explaining that Liu Yan's financial struggles regarding his grandmother's care were immense, so much so that he had even refused assistance from Lu Yuheng, only accepting it under duress and providing an IOU. Lin Xiaodi suggested that while Han Ruibing's intentions were pure, her effortless resolution of his long-standing problem likely wounded his pride and self-esteem.
As they spoke, Lu Yuheng, eager for some private time with Lin Xiaodi, called Liu Yan on the phone, urging him to collect Han Ruibing. Liu Yan, however, replied that he was not in a state to face her. Sensing Liu Yan's low spirits, Lu Yuheng advised him to rest and only return to the studio when he felt better, hanging up before Liu Yan could object.
Later, Lu Yuheng, frustrated by the interruptions, resumed his affectionate advances towards Lin Xiaodi, embracing her tightly as she cleaned. He reiterated his fear of being far from her and his desire to constantly be by her side. As they shared a kiss, the doorbell rang. Lin Xiaodi assumed it was Han Ruibing, thinking she had forgotten something, but Lu Yuheng jokingly tried to stop her, suggesting they shouldn't let Han Ruibing and Liu Yan disrupt their peace. Despite his playful protests, Lin Xiaodi went to open the door, with Lu Yuheng still clinging to her, only to find her parents standing outside.
Episode 20 Recap
Lu Yuheng was demonstrating a romantic gesture he had learned online, pinning Lin Xiaodi against the wall, when a knock at the door interrupted them. Lin Xiaodi thought it was Han Ruibing returning after forgetting something and offered to open the door, but Lu Yuheng, annoyed by the interruption, told her not to.
He said Han Ruibing and Silly had just had a fight, and they shouldn't make things worse, but Lu Yuheng argued they "should" be given a push so they learn not to bother them, and insisted they continue their moment. When the knocking persisted, Lin Xiaodi tried to open the door again, but Lu Yuheng playfully held her back, insisting they go together. As they opened the door, a voice said, "Give me a hug, Xiaodi."
To Lin Xiaodi's shock, it was her father. Her father, who had returned to the country without warning, was furious to see Lin Xiaodi and Lu Yuheng in such an intimate position. He immediately pushed Lu Yuheng aside, asking, "Who's your dad? Let her go! What are you doing?" Lin Xiaodi tried to calm him down and explain, but her father was angry that she hadn't told him about her return.
Lu Yuheng tried to introduce himself respectfully, saying, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lin. Please allow me to introduce myself to you. I'm Xiaodi's boyfriend, I'm Lu Yuheng." However, her father rudely cut him off, stating that he didn't care for his name and that children shouldn't interrupt adults.
When Lin Xiaodi tried to defend Lu Yuheng and held his hand, her father angrily demanded she let go and keep her distance, asking her if he or Lu Yuheng was more important to her. He then forced her to choose between leaving with him or staying with Lu Yuheng.
At this tense moment, Lin Xiaodi's mother tried to mediate, explaining that her father wasn't intentionally trying to make things difficult; he just wanted Lu Yuheng to express how much he cared for Lin Xiaodi. After Lin Xiaodi defended Lu Yuheng, Lu Yuheng suddenly knelt down and proposed, saying, "Xiaodi, will you marry me? I mean, let's get married. I've already thought about everything that I could provide you with. I think you need a home the most.
I can provide you with that. That should put your parents' minds at rest." Lin Xiaodi's father was enraged by the proposal, yelling, "Brat, how dare you propose to her? I'm still here, you know? I'm not dead yet! How dare you challenge me? I'll beat him up!" He then picked up a cushion and began hitting Lu Yuheng with it.
Lin Xiaodi quickly pulled Lu Yuheng away and urged him to hide at the studio until her father's anger subsided. Lu Yuheng, however, insisted on facing the challenge, declaring that he had overcome many difficult situations and was confident he could win over her father. He further added that he had never been hit by a parent before, and it felt "pretty good," because her family was now his family, and they could do whatever they wanted to him.
After Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi left, her parents were alone. Her father then revealed that his angry outburst was all an act to test Lu Yuheng and warn him not to bully Lin Xiaodi in the future. He boasted about his acting skills. He recalled how Lin Xiaodi had looked at Lu Yuheng and felt a pang of sadness, lamenting that his "cabbage" (daughter) was being "stolen."
His wife jokingly suggested that Lin Xiaodi might bring them a grandson in the future, and they could even decide who would raise him. They solidified their plan to play "good cop, bad cop" (one red face, one white face) when dealing with Lu Yuheng, though his wife warned him not to go too far with his "punishments." Meanwhile, at the studio, Liu Yan was distraught after breaking up with Han Ruibing.
Lu Yuheng tried to comfort him, offering him water and telling him to pull himself together. Liu Yan confessed that he didn't want to lose Han Ruibing, leaned into Lu Yuheng's arms, and cried, feeling he wasn't good enough for her. Lu Yuheng advised him not to let pride get in the way of love, warning him that he would regret it. Lu Yuheng then confided in Liu Yan about his own troubles trying to appease Lin Xiaodi's father.
Liu Yan suggested that Zhao Muran, who knew Lin Xiaodi's family well, could provide valuable insights. Lu Yuheng also revealed to Liu Yan that Lin Xiaodi was his "Little Star" from childhood, a revelation that surprised Liu Yan. Zhao Muran, having parted ways with Zhao Jinxuan, was experiencing a career slump, constantly facing rejections for acting roles.
When Lu Yuheng showed up at his door, Zhao Muran, recognizing him as a love rival and already frustrated with his own situation, tried to send him away. Lu Yuheng, however, insisted on staying, wanting to "seek shelter" and jokingly asking for the cleanest room. Zhao Muran teased him about being "chased out" by Mr. Lin. Lu Yuheng, without confirming, implied his house was "fully occupied."
Zhao Muran, recalling his own six years of freeloading at the Lin family home and how fiercely protective Mr. Lin was of Lin Xiaodi, realized Lu Yuheng wanted information on Mr. Lin. Just then, Zhao Jinxuan called Zhao Muran to discuss contract termination.
Seizing the opportunity, Zhao Muran proposed a deal to Lu Yuheng: if Lu Yuheng accompanied him to meet Zhao Jinxuan and acted as his underling, praising him to the skies, Zhao Muran would share all of Mr. Lin's preferences. Lu Yuheng, though initially hesitant, agreed to the terms.
At their meeting with Zhao Jinxuan, Zhao Muran put on an elaborate show with Lu Yuheng playing the submissive "underling" role, even serving tea and confirming Zhao Muran's fabricated popularity, claiming "more than 70 people" had recently sought to cast him. Zhao Jinxuan played along, offering Zhao Muran a supporting role in a period drama, then pretending to retract the offer, implying Zhao Muran was now too busy and successful for such a minor part.
Zhao Muran, not wanting to lose the opportunity, quickly accepted the role and boasted about his acting prowess, delaying the contract termination until after filming. After successfully securing the role and outwitting Zhao Jinxuan, Zhao Muran happily disclosed Mr. Lin's likes and dislikes to Lu Yuheng, as per their agreement.
He warned Lu Yuheng that Mr. Lin detested unmanly men, sharing an anecdote of how he once almost had his legs broken for acting cute and asking Lin Xiaodi for help. Meanwhile, Liu Yan visited his grandmother at the nursing home and found Han Ruibing there, compassionately tending to her.
Liu Yan, watching from afar, was deeply touched by her kindness and his grandmother's trust in her, especially as he observed Han Ruibing paying for a year of overdue care, arranging for a senior caregiver, and buying expensive nutritional supplements for his grandmother. However, when Han Ruibing emerged, he coldly confronted her, thanking her but asking her not to come back. He explained that as a man, he wanted to protect and care for her, not become a burden.
Misunderstanding his intentions, Han Ruibing believed he was blaming her for interfering, expressing her apologies and stating that their relationship was over anyway. Liu Yan tried to clarify that he meant he wanted to protect her, not receive charity, but the damage was done, and Han Ruibing concluded that since they had broken up, it no longer mattered. Armed with Zhao Muran's detailed intel, Lu Yuheng returned to the Lin family home.
During dinner, Lin Xiaodi's father tried to challenge him, even offering him a bank card, which he explicitly called a "breakup fee." Lu Yuheng, however, calmly accepted it as "Xiaodi's dowry," asking if Mr. Lin had any other requests. Confused, Mr. Lin reiterated it was a "breakup fee," but Lu Yuheng cleverly interpreted it as a sign of acceptance and goodwill. Lin Xiaodi mediated, suggesting they enjoy their meal.
As the family enjoyed pomegranates, Mr. Lin again tried to provoke Lu Yuheng, mocking him for letting Lin Xiaodi peel the fruit and boasting about his own history of peeling pomegranates for his daughter. Lu Yuheng responded by asserting his willingness to do anything for Lin Xiaodi and proposed a pomegranate peeling contest: each would peel three, and the loser would grant the winner one wish. Lu Yuheng, starting later but using a more efficient method, won the contest.
Lin Xiaodi, assuming his wish, declared that Lu Yuheng wanted her father to stop disliking him. However, Lu Yuheng stated that Mr. Lin could continue to dislike him and test him, as he would always treat Lin Xiaodi well. He expressed his conviction that time and action would prove his sincerity, making Mr. Lin trust him completely and entrust Lin Xiaodi to him without worry. He then told Mr. Lin, "I know you love Xiaodi very much. Me too. I've actually loved her longer than you. When I fell for Xiaodi, she wasn't your Lin Xiaodi yet. She was my Little Star."
Episode 21 Recap
Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi, both wearing their matching star necklaces, affirmed their 15-year separation and their unwavering desire to remain together. Lu Yuheng poured out his heart to Lin Xiaodi's parents, explaining that before Lin Xiaodi became "their" Xiaodi, she was "his Little Star," and he had searched for her for fifteen years, just as long as she had lived with them.
He earnestly asked for their blessing, promising to devote his life to making Lin Xiaodi happy and vowing never to lose her again. Lin Xiaodi's mother recognized Lu Yuheng as the boy from Lin Xiaodi's childhood. Initially, Lin Xiaodi's father, Mr. Lin, remained silent, then started to leave.
When pressed by his wife for an answer, he stated that he could not go against destiny if Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi were truly fated to be together, implying his reluctant consent. He maintained his tough facade, warning Lu Yuheng that this was only "the preliminary test" and more "re-tests and a final exam" were ahead. Despite his sternness, both Mr. and Mrs. Lin promised their daughter they would move their work back to China to live closer.
Lu Yuheng later told Lin Xiaodi that he wasn't afraid of Mr. Lin because they both shared the common trait of loving her dearly, making them allies. Team Eternity successfully qualified for the city finals, joining three other teams: Team 17, Team Jiesa, and Team Yeshang. Lu Yuheng was confident in his team's abilities, instructing Liu Yan to book a venue for their celebration feast even before the final win, an act that also revealed Liu Yan's subdued mood.
Meanwhile, Zhao Muran had been earnestly preparing for a period drama role, a project specifically tailored for him by his cousin, Zhao Jinxuan. Zhao Jinxuan had invested significantly in the production, even humbling himself before key crew members like Brother Wu to secure the best team. Zhao Muran, arriving early one morning, overheard Wu's assistants openly disparaging Zhao Jinxuan, mocking his efforts and calling him a fool.
Though he had his own issues with Zhao Jinxuan, Zhao Muran fiercely defended his cousin, asserting that while he could criticize Zhao Jinxuan, no one else was allowed. A heated argument erupted, almost escalating into a fight until Hua intervened. Zhao Jinxuan, arriving at the scene and misunderstanding the situation, immediately reprimanded Zhao Muran for fighting, calling him "hopeless" and expressing his regret for ever getting involved.
Hurt by the harsh words and lack of explanation, Zhao Muran angrily threw down his script, declared he was quitting the drama, and stormed off, telling Zhao Jinxuan he never wanted to see him again. Back at Lu Yuheng's home, Liu Yan and Lu Yuheng were discussing team matters when Lin Xiaodi purposefully brought Han Ruibing over, hoping to facilitate a conversation between them.
Lin Xiaodi, who usually drank juice or coffee, offered Han Ruibing milk tea, mentioning that Liu Yan had specifically brought it and asked her to give it to Han Ruibing. Despite the gesture of care, Han Ruibing remained outwardly cold, stating she didn't like milk tea and preferred coffee or juice, dismissing Liu Yan's "useless concerns."
Lin Xiaodi invited Liu Yan to stay for lunch to talk things over, but Han Ruibing's stubbornness led Liu Yan to refuse, saying he had other commitments and advising them not to disturb Lu Yuheng, who was on a conference call. After Liu Yan left, Lin Xiaodi tried to make Han Ruibing see that she clearly cared for Liu Yan despite her hard-headedness.
Han Ruibing, however, maintained that there was nothing to discuss, as they had already broken up, making any romantic gestures pointless. Later, to celebrate their strong performance in the city semi-finals, Lu Yuheng took Team Eternity out for a team dinner and relaxation trip. The team, in high spirits, teased Lin Xiaodi and insisted she drink alcohol. Han Ruibing stepped in to drink on Lin Xiaodi's behalf, and then, in a defiant move, offered to drink Lu Yuheng's glass too.
However, Liu Yan quickly snatched the glass from her and drank it himself. He then admonished her for drinking on an empty stomach, expressing concern for her health. Han Ruibing challenged him, asking what right he had to care for her now. In a tense moment fueled by alcohol and unresolved emotions, Liu Yan impulsively pulled Han Ruibing into a passionate kiss.
Back at their overnight accommodation, Lu Yuheng deliberately arranged for Han Ruibing and Liu Yan to share a room. Lin Xiaodi, hearing their loud arguments and playful sounds from the adjacent room, grew worried and tried to intervene. However, Lu Yuheng pulled her back, reassuring her that they would be fine and asserting that it was a "restless night" requiring him to protect her.
He pulled her onto the bed and moved closer, making Lin Xiaodi close her eyes in a shy attempt to pretend to sleep. Despite the raucous night next door, the next morning, Han Ruibing and Liu Yan emerged seemingly reconciled, jokingly denying they had ever fought and returning to their previously affectionate dynamic. Meanwhile, Hua found Zhao Muran and revealed the extent of Zhao Jinxuan's hidden support.
She explained that when Zhao Muran first debuted, the entire company, including herself, had been against investing resources in him, but Zhao Jinxuan had insisted. He founded Star Entertainment with the sole purpose of making Zhao Muran a star. Hua further disclosed that Zhao Jinxuan had collaborated with Lu Yuheng to secure the current period drama role for Zhao Muran and that Zhao Jinxuan had even paid Zhao Muran's liquidated damages from his personal account.
She then recounted a past incident during filming when a metal rack fell on Zhao Muran during a heavy rain, knocking him unconscious. With ambulances unable to reach them due to the weather, Zhao Jinxuan had carried Zhao Muran all the way to the hospital, contracting severe pneumonia himself. He had lied about food poisoning to prevent Zhao Muran from feeling guilty or burdened. Zhao Muran was deeply moved, finally realizing the depth of Zhao Jinxuan's care and sacrifices.
During this time, Tianyin visited Zhao Muran, who was focused on perfecting his acting for the new role, hoping to regain popularity and convince Zhao Jinxuan to let him release a single. Tianyin then revealed that she had also taken a supporting role in Zhao Muran's new drama. Zhao Muran expressed concern that taking a minor role would be a disservice to her booming career, but Tianyin assured him it was worth it. She explained that she wanted to stand by him during his difficult times, just as he had once supported her.
Episode 22 (Ending) Recap
Tianyin reminisced with Zhao Muran about her early days in showbiz, where she struggled to land significant roles, often playing a servant. Zhao Muran, to support her, even took on the role of a guardsman just to be by her side, protect her from bullies, and tell everyone she was his sister. Tianyin had cherished those times, feeling secure under his protection. However, she declared she no longer wanted to be the weak and dependent Tianyin.
She announced it was her turn to protect him, playfully clarifying she meant in their current script where she played his older sister. Zhao Muran, amused, accepted her playfully as his "older sister Tianyin" who would "have his back," and offered to treat her to a meal in return. Later, as Zhao Muran and Tianyin returned home with groceries to make noodles, they were surprised to find Zhao Jinxuan and Hua already there.
Hua explained they had come to deliver some things and tidied up Zhao Muran's messy house. Zhao Jinxuan returned Zhao Muran's car keys, instructing him to drive himself to the set instead of relying on company transport to conserve resources. He also informed Zhao Muran that his bank account had been unfrozen. Zhao Muran was overjoyed by these developments. Tianyin asked when the brothers had reconciled, to which Zhao Muran replied that their family bond always prevailed over any disagreements.
While he accepted the car, he refused any other "stuff" to avoid owing Zhao Jinxuan too many favors. Zhao Jinxuan responded that if Zhao Muran wanted to settle his debts, he should focus on acting. He then revealed he had secured Zhao Muran the opportunity to sing the theme song for their upcoming series, promising an album if it was well-received.
Zhao Muran was ecstatic that his dream was finally within reach, believing he had earned this chance through his hard work. Although Zhao Jinxuan initially prepared to leave for a meeting, Zhao Muran stopped him, inviting him to stay for dinner and try his newly learned dishes. Zhao Jinxuan agreed, noting it had been two years since they last shared a meal, and canceled his meeting. He then challenged Zhao Muran to a cooking showdown, each preparing two new dishes.
Meanwhile, Team Jiesa was undergoing intense training for the upcoming finals. Shao Hai, driven to defeat Lu Yuheng, pushed his teammates to train until 3 AM. Su Nian intervened, arguing that the strenuous schedule was exhausting everyone and that they wouldn't be able to perform in the finals. She insisted that three of their tired teammates go home to rest.
Shao Hai angrily reminded her that she was not in charge of Team Jiesa and had no authority to dismiss players. Su Nian threatened to sit out the finals if he didn't allow the players to rest. Though furious, Shao Hai conceded, but warned everyone to be back for training by 7:30 AM, or face expulsion. Elsewhere, Lin Xiaodi massaged Lu Yuheng, helping him relax before the big match.
Lu Yuheng, now more openly affectionate, playfully requested a kiss as a reward for his upcoming victory. Lin Xiaodi, calling him clingy, indulged his request with kisses on his cheek and forehead, playfully trying to escape when he sought more, to which he simply admitted to being a "jerk." The national finals of the Battle of The Peak commenced, with Team Jiesa and Team Eternity taking the stage.
Team Eternity's entrance in their unique ancient-style uniforms immediately captivated the audience, prompting commentators to praise "Whiz Lu" (Lu Yuheng) for his constant surprises and eye-catching presence. One commentator even joked that his flair for PR stunts meant he missed his calling as an actor. When the match began, Shao Hai chose his familiar warrior hero, while Lu Yuheng surprised everyone by picking a crowd-control mage.
As Team Jiesa, known for aggressive tactics, charged forward, commentators noted their lack of a dedicated support hero, with Su Nian's mage only providing a minimal 10% support buff. Lu Yuheng emphasized teamwork and protecting their support player, Nine Skies. Shao Hai, however, decided to single-handedly take down Lu Yuheng. Lu Yuheng quickly realized Shao Hai's true target was Nine Skies, their support. Despite his immediate warning to Liu Yan to protect Nine Skies, it was too late.
Shao Hai, with Su Nian's crucial support, successfully ambushed and defeated Nine Skies, who managed to restore 30% of Lu Yuheng's health before falling. Shao Hai reveled in his tactical deception, boasting that by making Lu Yuheng think he was "reckless," he successfully eliminated Team Eternity's support. With their support gone, Team Eternity faced relentless attacks and was pushed to the brink. Shao Hai, focused solely on defeating Lu Yuheng, ignored his struggling teammates.
Just as Shao Hai's blade was about to strike Lu Yuheng, Lu Yuheng initiated a sudden counter-attack. It was revealed to be Team Eternity's planned strategy; two of his teammates, Gu Tong and Xiaofeng, ambushed from behind while another, "Little Northeasterner," intercepted a key mage from Team Jiesa. This decisive move caught Team Jiesa off guard, causing their HP to plummet.
Despite the dire situation, Shao Hai continued his risky solo pursuit of Lu Yuheng, a move criticized by commentators for its lack of teamwork. As fans passionately cheered for "Whiz Lu," Lu Yuheng, with dwindling HP, executed precise movements to evade attacks and secure a crucial victory. Their archer, Rock, then achieved two rapid kills, sealing Team Eternity's win in the final seconds.
Team Eternity achieved a Grand Slam, setting a new record and earning the right to represent their country in the international tournament. Following the match, Mr. Zheng, an investor for Team Jiesa, furiously confronted Shao Hai for their loss, reminding him that Jiesa only accepts champions. He summarily kicked Shao Hai off the team, declaring his "glory days are over." As a dejected Shao Hai prepared to leave, only Su Nian approached him.
She refused his accusation of gloating, urging him not to think everyone was as dark and vile as he perceived. Acknowledging his past contributions to Team Jiesa, despite their many disagreements, she challenged him not to give up, reminding him that abandoning a career was worse than any defeat for a professional gamer. Inspired by her words, Shao Hai vowed to defeat Lu Yuheng someday, even if he had to join a different team.
Su Nian affirmed this renewed determination, reflecting on their shared past mistakes and encouraging him to "be themselves again." Shao Hai thanked her for being the only one to see him off, and Su Nian expressed her hope to meet him again on the grand stage of the international finals, a sentiment he echoed. Back in the team's resting room, the lights suddenly went out, plunging Lu Yuheng into a familiar panic.
He rushed outside, where he found a trail of lights and balloons leading to Lin Xiaodi, who had orchestrated the surprise. She explained that she wanted to show him that if he dared to step out of the darkness, light would always be there. Lu Yuheng confessed that her presence was his light, the reason he had the courage to face his fears.
Lin Xiaodi promised to always be his "star that lights him up," thanking him for entering her world and becoming her "eyes and star." Lu Yuheng reciprocated her feelings. Lin Xiaodi's "Blooming Jasmine" fashion exhibition was a resounding success, particularly her "Eternal Stars Series," which introduced a fresh design style and was lauded for promoting traditional culture. She publicly thanked Ding Yuan for giving her the platform to showcase her work.
Meanwhile, Han Ruibing and Liu Yan, with Lin Xiaodi's mother's consent, rented Lin Xiaodi's house, making them new neighbors. The next morning, Lin Xiaodi woke up to Lu Yuheng making breakfast, relishing her "perfect life." She discovered Han Ruibing and Liu Yan in her house, having moved in, teasing her that she wouldn't be going back to her own home soon. They then asked for breakfast, but Lin Xiaodi playfully tried to claim Lu Yuheng's cooking for herself.
Han Ruibing and Liu Yan then left to get their own breakfast. Shortly after, Zhao Muran showed up to join the "free breakfast group." Lin Xiaodi playfully complained about her freeloading friends, declaring this would be "the last time." She then rallied everyone to help Lu Yuheng in the kitchen. Han Ruibing and Liu Yan remarked on Zhao Muran's recent career success.
He was now lauded as a skilled actor, having successfully transitioned from a "fresh meat" idol, gaining millions of followers. Zhao Muran acknowledged that his professional gains were a silver lining to his personal setbacks. He expressed remorse for his past childish actions and apologized to Lin Xiaodi for any trouble he caused, to which she and his friends offered their support, encouraging him to focus on his work and life.
He reflected on how he used to prefer solitude but now cherished his life with loved ones and close friends, expressing profound happiness at having found Lin Xiaodi. As Lu Yuheng and Lin Xiaodi walked together, Lin Xiaodi recalled more childhood memories, of Lu Yuheng sharing his food and caring for her when she was sick. She wondered what she would do without him.
Lu Yuheng, in turn, told her that she was the one who had always looked after him, coming to his aid whenever he was trapped in darkness. He asked what she saw in him then, and she replied, "Light." Lin Xiaodi affirmed he was still her "light," teaching her to bravely confront darkness and strive to become a better person. Lu Yuheng said that after years of her protecting him, it was now his turn to be her guardian.
Lin Xiaodi reassured him that, in her eyes, he was already the best version of himself. Lu Yuheng confessed that he had often fantasized about this moment: holding her hand, watching sunrises and sunsets, and growing old together. Lin Xiaodi pledged that she would never be absent from his future life, and Lu Yuheng promised never to let go of her hand again. With deep affection, Lu Yuheng looked at Lin Xiaodi, expressed his love, and kissed her forehead, a declaration of their shared future.
