As Shi Xia saw Hou Chi again, memories flooded her mind, but Hou Chi showed no recognition of her. He returned a Holy Tree sapling to Shi Xia, stating simply, "Miss, you dropped something." A nearby doll vendor asked Hou Chi if he wished to buy another doll for Miss Shi Xia, to which Hou Chi firmly replied that he did not know the girl and had never given her dolls.
He then called for Qing Feng and Yi Yaogua to leave with him. Later, as Yi Yaogua admired some jewelry he had chosen, Qing Feng expressed her confusion to him, remarking on how strange Hou Chi's attitude towards Shi Xia was, as if he had never known her. Yi Yaogua attributed it to Hou Chi being heartbroken by Shi Xia, claiming that a "dead heart" made him numb.
Qing Feng questioned if a person could truly change and give up overnight. Growing jealous that Qing Feng was preoccupied with Shi Xia, Yi Yaogua complained that he was less important to her than her "sister." To appease him, Qing Feng agreed to go on a night out with him, playfully rebuffing his suggestion that she wear a girl's dress.
Meanwhile, Bi Hong took Shi Xia to a remote inn, the farthest from the Immortal-Demon Inn, hoping they would avoid further encounters with the Yuhua Sect. Despite the lesser conditions, Shi Xia found it acceptable. Bi Hong reminded her that Hou Chi had forgotten her and urged her to forget him to spare herself pain. However, Shi Xia cherished every moment spent with Hou Chi and refused to forget those memories, even if she couldn't be with him forever.
Bi Hong, who had almost produced a Love-forgetting Potion, hastily put it away, then suggested that after the Immortal-Demon Grand Ceremony, he would take her traveling to find delicious food, hoping that with time, she would naturally forget Hou Chi. Shi Xia, however, insisted she would never forget him, asserting that he would take root and be reborn in her heart, just like the Holy Tree sapling she carried, which she had taken from Hou Chi's courtyard.
Bi Hong then advised her to rest. The next morning, Shi Xia discovered her Holy Tree sapling was missing. After searching her room and finding only the empty pot under the window where it had been placed, she and Bi Hong went out to look for it. They soon spotted Yuan Zhao, Hou Chi, Qing Feng, and Yi Yaogua dining. Shi Xia quickly walked away, trying to avoid being seen.
Hou Chi had earlier suggested to Yuan Zhao that they depart, as the spiritual power was strongest before noon, but Yuan Zhao insisted on taking a break first. Shi Xia eventually found her damaged sapling near a doorway. As she knelt to pick it up, a large plaque above her began to fall. Yuan Zhao observed Hou Chi closely, and Hou Chi remained outwardly calm, putting Yuan Zhao at ease.
Just as the plaque was about to strike Shi Xia, Shi Dong swiftly arrived and pushed her out of the way, saving her from harm. Qing Feng, disgusted by Hou Chi and Yuan Zhao's indifference, left angrily, followed by Yi Yaogua, who also felt their actions were excessive. Shi Xia, cradling her damaged sapling, was heartbroken. Shi Dong scolded her for risking her life for a mere branch and questioned Hou Chi's protection.
Shi Xia claimed they had broken up, and that she was the one who dumped Hou Chi because she was "tired of him," having "hurt him badly" with her "indifference and unrestraint." Shi Dong, remembering their recent affection, doubted her, speculating if she had cheated. Shi Xia denied it, saying simply that she no longer liked him and that it was "all her fault." Shi Dong, still unconvinced, threatened to confront Hou Chi, but Shi Xia stopped him.
At that moment, Qiu Li appeared, completely cured of her dissociative identity disorder. Shi Xia was delighted, and Qiu Li sincerely apologized for her past actions, declaring that Shi Xia and Shi Dong were now the dearest people to her. Back at his residence, Hou Chi repaired the broken Holy Tree sapling using his spiritual power.
He recalled that at the tea house, he had prepared to use his powers to save Shi Xia from the falling plaque but stopped when Shi Dong intervened, knowing that not acting would reassure Yuan Zhao of his supposed forgetfulness. Hou Chi then realized that his memories of Shi Xia were rapidly fading, wondering if it was due to the Love-forgetting Potion he had consumed.
He desperately searched for Shi Xia, asserting that he would never abandon her, even if it cost him his life. Bi Hong arrived, stopping Hou Chi's search. He admitted that he had orchestrated everything, including informing their Master about Hou Chi's condition and giving him the Love-forgetting Potion, claiming it was to prevent Hou Chi from dying.
Bi Hong then lied, telling Hou Chi that Yuan Zhao had developed murderous intent towards Shi Xia and would have killed her if not for his intervention. He further misled Hou Chi by stating that Shi Xia had also drunk the Love-forgetting Potion, unwilling to see him die alone, and that forgetting their past would be a relief for both of them.
Bi Hong then offered Hou Chi another bottle of the Love-forgetting Potion, urging him to drink it to protect both his life and Shi Xia's, emphasizing his duty as the head of the Alliance. Unconvinced by Shi Xia's claims of breaking up with Hou Chi, Shi Dong took her for a walk to "ease her lovelorn feelings," which Shi Xia denied having. He then tricked her into falling into a deep pit.
Leaving her there, Shi Dong lured Hou Chi to the pit. Upon arrival, Hou Chi realized he had been tricked and jumped into the pit. Shi Dong, from above, playfully addressed Hou Chi as his "good brother-in-law," reminding him that Shi Xia's breakup was due to her inexperience.
He encouraged Hou Chi to reconcile with her and informed him that he had placed the Devil Sect's most powerful ward over the pit, which would take even Hou Chi some effort to break. Shi Dong then left, promising to return the next morning. Shi Xia, seeing Hou Chi, asked if he had come to rescue her. Hou Chi, maintaining his facade of not knowing her, replied that he would not stand idly by if anyone was in distress. He then instructed Shi Xia to step aside so he could focus on breaking the ward, chilling Shi Xia's heart.
