As he prepared to leave her in the room, Cheng Qingcong hugged him, complaining of being hot and attempting to undress. Startled and flustered, Yan Yuan quickly retreated, especially when she tried to unbutton his shirt. The following morning, Cheng Qingcong awoke, realizing the events of the previous night were not a dream.
She quietly took her high heels and swiftly left the apartment. Reflecting on their encounter, Yan Yuan believed he had fallen for Cheng Qingcong. He was determined to win her over, convinced he was a better match than her "wretched landlord." Soon after, a delivery arrived for him – a gift from Cheng Qingcong, addressed to her landlord. Inside, he found a USB drive, which he opened, only to be terrified by a horror movie on it.
He also read a note from Cheng Qingcong, apologizing for a last-minute business trip preventing their meeting and hoping he liked the gift. Despite the unsettling content, Yan Yuan was pleased with the attention. He then sent a message to Cheng Qingcong, still posing as the landlord, mentioning issues with the rental agreement and a property management update as an excuse to meet her.
Meanwhile, Zheng Hao rushed into Song Qingchun's office to report a problem with the contract submitted to Yangguang Capital. He explained that Su Zhinian had pointed out that several allocation percentages differed from Song Qingchun's previous instructions. Annoyed by the oversight, Song Qingchun instructed Zheng Hao to revise the contract and arrange a meeting with Mr. Chen from Yangguang Capital, as she intended to deliver it personally.
She also learned that the newly appointed Mr. Chen had not yet reviewed or signed the contract due to a work handover. Later, Song Qingchun received a grand bouquet of 99 roses, and her colleagues assumed they were from Su Zhinian, praising his romantic gesture. However, Su Zhinian soon appeared, telling his secretary to discard the flowers, stating that he would never engage in such a "shallow and grandiose" display.
Confused, Song Qingchun then received a call from Mr. Chen, who asked if she liked the flowers, revealing he was the sender. He mentioned his assistant had informed him she wished to meet, and he was already downstairs. Song Qingchun agreed to meet him immediately. Song Qingchun met Chen Han downstairs, unaware that Su Zhinian was discretely observing them, concerned about Chen Han's intentions.
Chen Han flattered Song Qingchun, claiming he came solely to see her and that she was even more beautiful in person than on television. Although Su Zhinian was unwilling to accompany her, Song Qingchun deliberately provoked him into coming along by praising Chen Han and playfully teasing Su Zhinian about his "old-fashioned" but still handsome appearance, which seemed to annoy him. Yan Yuan met Cheng Qingcong at the property management office. She didn't suspect he was her landlord. Instead, she directly asked if he liked her.
Yan Yuan avoided a direct answer, suggesting that happiness, not explicit declarations of love, was the foundation of a relationship, pointing out that many couples who claim deep affection break up quickly. Cheng Qingcong, fearing he was merely toying with her, lied that she had a loving landlord boyfriend whom she didn't want to betray. Yan Yuan then produced the package she had sent to the landlord, exposing her lie and revealing his true identity.
Cheng Qingcong, realizing the truth, explained that she desired a relationship based on mutual affection, free from other complications. She asked Yan Yuan for time to consider her feelings and requested that he not push her to move out. She then asked if he genuinely liked the gift she sent, to which he replied that he did and looked forward to watching it with her next time. Su Zhinian, Yan Yuan, and Qin Yinan later met.
Yan Yuan was confused by Cheng Qingcong's rejection, despite her professed liking for him, simply because he couldn't articulate his feelings, and he asked Su Zhinian to help him understand his own emotions. Su Zhinian suggested Cheng Qingcong sought a sense of security. Qin Yinan interjected, criticizing them for "skipping the dating part and heading straight to the home run." Yan Yuan lamented trusting Su Zhinian's "crap." Qin Yinan then pointed out Su Zhinian's extensive "dark history."
Su Zhinian responded, asking if liking someone truly needed a reason, claiming he couldn't see any qualities in Song Qingchun that Qin Yinan found so memorable. Qin Yinan retorted that it was fortunate Su Zhinian couldn't see them, implying greater competition otherwise. Still uneasy about Song Qingchun meeting Chen Han alone, Su Zhinian brought Qin Yinan to the rock climbing gym.
Chen Han proposed a team competition: Song Qingchun, being a novice, would pair with him, while Su Zhinian and Qin Yinan formed the other team, claiming this made it fair. Su Zhinian objected, but Chen Han insisted that the majority ruled. During the climb, Chen Han offered Song Qingchun climbing tips, while Su Zhinian and Qin Yinan engaged in a heated exchange, with Qin Yinan remarking on Su Zhinian's jealousy.
Chen Han challenged Song Qingchun, promising to take her to watch the Perseid meteor shower if she won. As Song Qingchun ascended, she slipped, and her safety harness, which Chen Han had secretly tampered with, inexplicably failed, sending her plummeting. Su Zhinian swiftly used his extraordinary abilities to save her. Once safe, Song Qingchun looked at Su Zhinian, intuitively asking if it was him, sensing his powers. He deflected, asking if she needed to go to the hospital.
Qin Yinan furiously confronted Chen Han, accusing him of tampering with the safety equipment. Chen Han dismissed it as an accident and reminded Qin Yinan of their alliance, warning him not to expose their secret against Su Zhinian. Qin Yinan warned Chen Han never to involve Song Qingchun, threatening severe consequences.
Chen Han insisted his target was Su Zhinian and he had no reason to harm Song Qingchun, then implied Su Zhinian might suspect Qin Yinan due to his sudden presence. Qin Yinan tried to question Chen Han's true motives for returning to the country, but Chen Han advised him that "sometimes, it's better not to know so much" and reminded him of his assistance in covering up the Pearl Residence contract and Qin Yinan's other illicit activities at Huateng.
Qin Yinan angrily told Chen Han to mind his own business and remember his warning. On the way back from the rock climbing incident, Song Qingchun, now more certain of Su Zhinian's powers, subtly probed him by showing a picture of Superman. She asserted that women are highly accepting of those close to them, even "aliens, mutants, or some kind of monster," as long as they are sincere.
Su Zhinian sidestepped her line of questioning, instead urging her to terminate her cooperation with Chen Han and Yangguang Capital, sensing something unsettling about Chen Han. However, Song Qingchun saw this as her opportunity to prove her independence and leadership for the Qinghu project. She argued that the project was too advanced to abandon and insisted on handling it herself, promising to return within 30 minutes, regardless of the outcome.
She then left to meet Chen Han at the pool hall. Song Qingchun went alone to a pool hall to meet Chen Han, despite Qin Yinan's earlier warning against getting too close to him. Chen Han again apologized for the rock climbing accident, attributing it to a faulty safety clip, and offered her a limited edition Superman action figure, aware she was a fan. Song Qingchun politely declined, explaining that her father's identical birthday gift held unique sentimental value.
Impressed by her determination, Chen Han praised her capabilities and professionalism, then agreed to sign the contract if she could beat him in a game of pool. Su Zhinian, who had been parking the car, arrived and observed the challenge. Song Qingchun initially struggled, but with Su Zhinian subtly using his powers to guide the balls and offering her precise technical advice on "geometric angles" and cue ball distance, she managed to win the game.
However, Chen Han, still unwilling to sign, stalled, suggesting they continue discussions the next day. At that moment, Su Zhinian's body reacted violently. He quickly grabbed Song Qingchun and pulled her out of the pool hall, declaring that they would not meet Chen Han again. Earlier, Qin Yinan, returning home, saw tidied clothes and knew Tang Nuan had visited. Remembering their previous argument, he tried calling her to reconcile, but her phone was unreachable.
He then called the TV station and learned Tang Nuan was entertaining sponsors, which displeased him. Later, Qin Yinan found Tang Nuan at a restroom, talking to a sponsor. He confronted her, disappointed that she was engaging in such activities after he had refused to help her. Tang Nuan retorted that since he wouldn't assist, she had no choice but to seek help elsewhere, assuring him she would not compromise herself.
She accused him of never truly understanding her and of fearing her complaints. Qin Yinan apologized and promised to change. However, seeing Song Qingchun nearby (unbeknownst to her, on her way to the pool hall), Tang Nuan told Qin Yinan to go to her, admitting her folly in pursuing him knowing he didn't love her. Qin Yinan intervened, stopping her from returning to her superior and sponsors, and promised to secure a sponsor for her himself.
He then introduced Tang Nuan as his girlfriend to Chen Han, who was still at the pool hall. Chen Han, visibly intrigued by Tang Nuan, shook her hand, and it was clear he had new intentions. Song Qingchun, bewildered by Su Zhinian's abrupt exit from the pool hall and his sudden shift in demeanor, tried to apologize for her earlier teasing and pressed him to explain what was wrong.
Su Zhinian, clearly in pain, dismissed her and told her to stop following him. Annoyed by his anger, Song Qingchun refused to go home alone and gave him ten minutes to return. Su Zhinian retreated to his room to take medicine, his mind replaying Yan Yuan's warning: if his headaches persisted, he must seek treatment abroad, as his brain could not withstand such immense mind power indefinitely and risked "total collapse."
Despite his rapidly deteriorating health, Su Zhinian remained deeply concerned about the ongoing challenges at Huateng Land and, more critically, his worry that Song Qingchun was not yet prepared to handle things independently.
