The talented traditional Chinese painter Xin Yi returned to her picturesque hometown, a small town where she meticulously laid out her plans to become the employed painter of the renowned collector Guan Shanhai.
Her efforts to get close to the Guan family were all to uncover the truth behind a tragic incident from over a decade ago—her father was deceived into working in a counterfeit factory and died violently, while her younger sister, A'Nong, was brutally abused and left mentally shattered. Xin Yi used herself as bait, determined to lure out the mastermind behind the horrific crime.
At a critical moment, Guan Shanhai's son, Guan Huai, extended an olive branch to her, seeking to use her to seize power for himself. From then on, the two, each with their own hidden agendas, began to collaborate, stirring up a storm beneath the tranquil and peaceful facade of the small town.
