He then took her lipstick, drew on his finger, and pressed it against her finger, suggesting they make a "stamp as a promise" to signify their commitment. He then earnestly asked her if they could "start over." In 2012, Liu Ruochen brought Lu Fanfan to his home. He showed her a room, asking for her opinion, to which she replied she liked it and would stay there. He helped put her belongings in the room and waited outside.
Later, he found her asleep on the sofa and gently covered her with a blanket. The doorbell rang, waking Lu Fanfan, and Liu Ruochen opened the door to find Zhu Yixiao. Zhu Yixiao admitted she got his address from classmates and apologized if she was disturbing them, misinterpreting their living situation. Liu Ruochen clarified and invited her in.
Zhu Yixiao explained that her mother’s hospital bills were very high and, knowing Liu Ruochen was aware of her family’s difficult situation, asked if he could lend her 7,000 RMB, promising to repay him quickly with money from a new part-time job. He even provided a scientific explanation for time travel, citing theories about warped space, gravitational forces, and black and white holes.
Although Lu Fanfan found it complex, she was impressed and quickly asked him how she could return to her original time. Qin Yang admitted he didn't know the method, explaining that current science only supported the theory of parallel space for such phenomena, and even that wasn't proven.
Lu Fanfan then offered to prove it, confirming she was indeed from 2024, and vividly described her future world, which included VR games, livestream videos, artificial intelligence, and driverless cars that used iris recognition to prevent theft. Qin Yang was amazed, though he noted the potential downsides of such advanced technology, like the risk of personal information theft. He expressed his longing for such a future.
Lu Fanfan then made a promise: if she found a way back, she would seek out the future Qin Yang in 2024 to prove her story. Qin Yang agreed, and they sealed it with a verbal promise. He then handed her an earring he had found on the basketball court, which turned out to be hers, and she thanked him for returning it.
While Zhu Yixiao was at the hospital to pay for her mother's medical expenses, her father, Zhu Guofeng, confronted her and tried to seize the money she had just received from Liu Ruochen. Zhu Yixiao resisted, explaining that it was borrowed for her mother’s care. Zhu Guofeng, upon learning about Liu Ruochen, questioned if he was her new wealthy boyfriend. Although Zhu Yixiao stated she didn’t want to ruin Liu Ruochen’s current relationship, her father dismissed her concerns.
He pressured her to confirm Liu Ruochen’s wealth, then insisted she pursue him, promising to "handle" Liu Ruochen's current girlfriend for her. Later, Zhu Guofeng himself faced debt collectors who demanded immediate repayment. After being beaten, he promised to pay within three days. Realizing the severity of his financial situation, he asked his employee, Xiao Hu, for advice on how to quickly make a woman leave a man, indicating he had a scheme to get money.
That evening, Lu Fanfan prepared a lavish dinner, proudly declaring herself a "famous top-notch nutritionist." Liu Ruochen, impressed by the delicious food, asked if she could cook for him every day from then on. Lu Fanfan, after a moment's pause, deflected the question by insisting he finish all the food, which he happily did, praising her cooking. Later, Liu Ruochen appeared to be very drunk and sleepy, asking to take a nap.
Lu Fanfan tried to guide him, chiding him for his low alcohol tolerance. However, she soon realized he was faking his drunkenness to attempt a confession, which she observed was a "failure" from his side. In 2024, Lu Fanfan pondered her reality, wondering what had transpired during her coma. She went to wait for a meteor shower, where Liu Ruochen joined her, having learned about her plans from her aunt.
He playfully pointed out a "shooting star," prompting Lu Fanfan to quickly make a wish. He then revealed his own wish: that she had included him in hers. Lu Fanfan lamented the fleeting nature of shooting stars, which left no time for multiple wishes. Liu Ruochen then surprised her by releasing a swarm of fireflies, creating a dazzling display.

She was touched by his gesture and thanked him for the beautiful experience. Liu Ruochen then walked Lu Fanfan home, only for them to discover her apartment had been ransacked. Disturbed, Lu Fanfan wondered if she had offended anyone.
Liu Ruochen, suspecting that Gao Ruwen was behind the incident, reassured her not to worry and immediately called the police. Citing safety concerns, he insisted that she could not stay there and should move into his place for the next few days, or whenever she had nothing important to do, for her protection. Despite Lu Fanfan’s concern about inconvenience, Liu Ruochen prioritized her safety. The next morning in 2012, Liu Ruochen was enchanted watching Lu Fanfan prepare breakfast.
She playfully reminded him of her earlier comment about good deeds being rewarded and informed him that since she had lent her money to Zhu Yixiao, she would now be taking over his daily meals. When Liu Ruochen asked if she could add red beans to his Omelette rice, she dismissed the idea, telling him to stop "causing trouble" and to go get ready. He later savored the Omelette rice, declaring it the "tastiest and sweetest" he had ever eaten.
