In 2012, Gao Ruwen observed Fan Fan returning home. Afterward, Qin Yang invited Liu Ruochen to grab a drink. During their conversation, Liu Ruochen teased Qin Yang about "having many crushes," which Qin Yang immediately took offense to, downing a large glass of alcohol. Liu Ruochen then mused that Qin Yang was better because he wasn't easily affected by others' emotions, implying his own struggles with Fan Fan.
Qin Yang encouraged Liu Ruochen, believing that if he persisted, he and Fan Fan could overcome any difficulties together. Liu Ruochen expressed his frustration, saying women are like water—hard to grasp and understand. However, Qin Yang found Fan Fan adorable and not difficult to understand. Liu Ruochen acknowledged Fan Fan's charm but admitted he couldn't figure her out and asked Qin Yang for advice. Qin Yang retorted that Liu Ruochen's inability to understand her stemmed from not trying hard enough.
Qin Yang then revealed his own hidden feelings, saying Liu Ruochen was lucky because his crush liked him back, whereas he himself chose not to bother his own crush, burying his feelings. Liu Ruochen felt pain and anxiety, not happiness, about his situation. Qin Yang then disclosed that Fan Fan was keeping her distance from Liu Ruochen because of Gao Ruwen, fearing that Gao Ruwen would harm Liu Ruochen if they were together.
Liu Ruochen defiantly declared he wasn't afraid of Gao Ruwen, not even a little. Qin Yang ended the emotional exchange by admitting he envied Liu Ruochen. Eventually, Liu Ruochen, heavily intoxicated, insisted on going to see Fan Fan "just for one time." Qin Yang tried to take him home, but Liu Ruochen redirected the taxi to Fan Fan's house, claiming it was his own.
Upon arriving, Liu Ruochen began banging on Fan Fan's door, prompting Qin Yang to stop him and call Fan Fan instead, warning that they could be arrested for causing a nuisance. Fan Fan answered the call and soon came out, surprised to see them. Qin Yang explained that Liu Ruochen was drunk and had insisted on coming to her house. Fan Fan suspected Liu Ruochen was deliberately pretending to be so drunk, knowing she wouldn't let him in otherwise.
Qin Yang then left, asking Fan Fan to take good care of Liu Ruochen. Fan Fan helped Liu Ruochen inside and laid him on the bed, gently wiping his face. In his drunken state, Liu Ruochen grabbed her arm, repeatedly pleading with her not to chase him away. Fan Fan comforted him, assuring him that she wasn't sending him anywhere and wished him good night. The next morning, Fan Fan woke up and found Liu Ruochen had a high fever.
She helped him sit up to take medicine and drink water before going to prepare him a meal. Liu Ruochen woke later, disoriented to find himself at Fan Fan's house, and fragments of their conversation from the previous night resurfaced in his memory. He walked out to the kitchen, where he saw Fan Fan preparing century egg porridge and side dishes, finding the scene very warm and comforting.
Fan Fan sternly told him not to drink so much again, to which Liu Ruochen cheekily admitted he had drunk heavily on purpose so he could get inside her house. He then sent a text message about his smooth progress at Fan Fan's place, receiving a reply expressing surprise that Fan Fan had taken a day off. Noticing his messy hair, Fan Fan told Liu Ruochen to tidy up, reminding him he was a teaching assistant.
Liu Ruochen, still playing the "sick" card, asked her to wash his hair, joking about her giving him a bath too. Despite calling him a dreamer, Fan Fan agreed to wash his hair. Liu Ruochen thoroughly enjoyed the scalp massage, guiding her hand to exert more strength and move to specific spots. Afterward, Fan Fan jokingly compared his hairstyle to Pikachu, adding that Pikachu was much cuter.
Liu Ruochen tried to extend his stay by feigning dizziness, but Fan Fan quickly checked if he was still dizzy. He then confessed that he just wanted to spend more time with her. Later, Fan Fan hosted a gathering at her home, inviting Qin Yang and Yi Xiao, explaining they hadn't had a get-together in a long time.
Yi Xiao shared happy news: her mother's health had significantly improved, and her father had promised to quit gambling once he was out of prison so they could live a good life together. Fan Fan offered her unwavering support. Yi Xiao then asked Fan Fan why she broke up with Liu Ruochen, observing how much he still liked her. Fan Fan responded that she had her own difficulties. Both friends expressed their sincere wishes for each other's happiness.
Fan Fan then announced the "Lu Fan Fan Weekend Party and First Dumpling Cooking Contest," challenging Liu Ruochen and Qin Yang to a dumpling-making showdown. The winner would receive "The Lu's 36-Style-Recipe," while the loser would have to admit defeat three times. Both men demonstrated surprising skill and dexterity in making dumplings. After deliberation, everyone unanimously declared Qin Yang the winner. Liu Ruochen playfully admitted defeat to Qin Yang three times. Fan Fan then declared that regardless of who won or lost, everyone had to finish all the dumplings.
