Li Song'er recognized Chu Mengdie's identity and managed to secure her safety using her sharp tongue. She claimed that Nan Chuimeng had forced her to impersonate Chu Mengdie and obtain the Xiaoyao Manual, threatening to kill her otherwise. She insisted she had no choice. Chu Mengdie was shocked that Nan Chuimeng would coerce such a helpless girl. Feeling sympathy for Li Song'er, she decided to help her.
Knowing that Li Song'er was about to begin training with the introductory manual, Chu Mengdie devised a plan: she would write a fake set of techniques that would cause Nan Chuimeng to suffer a qi deviation and die, allowing Li Song'er to escape his control. Li Song'er was secretly delighted—she had been worrying about how to deal with Gu Yuan, and now with Chu Mengdie's help, she was one step closer to returning to her original world.
On her way back to her room, Chu Mengdie saw Baili Xingchen immobilized by pressure point strikes. But Li Song'er could hear the truth behind his words and realized Gu Yuan just didn’t want to admit he was being nice to her. She took a bite—it really did taste like the pastries from Drunken Dream City—but she pretended it tasted awful. She told Gu Yuan not to try to please her anymore and to focus on mastering the manual so he could finish it quickly and send her home.
Chu Mengdie sent a message to Li Song'er, warning that Nan Chuimeng was starting to suspect something and that they would need to be extremely cautious from now on. Li Song'er attempted to pass the techniques of the Xiaoyao Manual to Chu Mengdie by drawing them, but her understanding was flawed, and her sketches were inaccurate. Chu Mengdie was troubled by this. Later, after receiving the fake manual from Chu Mengdie, Li Song'er gave it to Gu Yuan.
However, Gu Yuan, feeling jealous after seeing her pulling at Lin Pi’s sleeve, deliberately had Han Yan serve a table full of green-colored dishes. Chu Mengdie told Li Song'er that at the hour of xushi (around 7–9 p. m. ), Gu Yuan would suffer a fatal qi deviation.
