He mentions Xi Manling seems to be plotting in secret but suggests allowing it for now, as her actions might help address previous oversights. Before work, Jin Xia mentions her borrowed modern clothing feels conspicuous and admits she doesn't know how to tie a necktie.
Nan Hua ties it for her, jokingly about her finding something she doesn't know, but she comments he looks "too handsome," which might make "him" more conspicuous. After arriving at the company, Nan Hua instructs Jin Xia to check the surveillance footage in the underground parking lot regarding her car's brake issue from the previous day and to meet him for recharging during lunchtime. Inside, Jin Xia is called to Ms. Xi Manling's office.
Colleagues gossip about Jin Xia getting special treatment for the upcoming show. Xi Manling offers Jin Xia juice, claiming it's too early for coffee. Jin Xia mentions Nan Hua is checking the parking lot surveillance due to yesterday's brake problem. The messages instruct him to go to Room 57 of the Dihao Hotel within 15 minutes, alone, to save Jin Xia.
Rushing there, he finds only Mrs. Bruno in the room. Further messages command him to possess the foreign woman, locate a medicine box, and consume all the Amoxicillin capsules inside, stating this is to feign an allergy death and that this person is from his clan and will kill Jin Xia if not eliminated. Given a 5-minute countdown, Nan Hua finds the pills and takes them while possessing Mrs. Bruno.
Upon completing the task, he receives another message telling him to return to the office, where Jin Xia will be returned to him. Immediately after Nan Hua leaves, Xi Manling calls Mrs. Bruno. Nan Hua explains she was drugged. Jin Xia remembers drinking orange juice in Xi Manling's office. Nan Hua confirms Xi Manling gave it to her, suspecting she was used by Xi Manling. He reveals he saw Mrs. Bruno's fear while possessing her and confirms Mrs. Bruno feared her foster daughter, Xi Manling, who had interfered in her family. Jin Xia is shocked that her teacher could be like that.
They see a news report stating Mrs. Bruno, the wife of the famous fashion designer Bruno, died in an accident. Despite this news, Nan Hua tells Jin Xia to rest. Later, Nan Hua goes to confront Xi Manling at her home. Xi Manling offers him tea. Nan Hua tells her he knows she planned everything, mentioning the previous incident where he, while possessing Jin Xia, dodged the coffee and his form disappeared/reappeared, which alerted Xi Manling.
He also reveals she had questioned Ding Yanhai extensively about him. Xi Manling admits asking Ding Yanhai but claims it was out of curiosity due to their "special historical origin," initially believing he wasn't a fraud like others until "this show." Nan Hua states she used him to eliminate Mrs. Bruno. Xi Manling denies it, but Nan Hua points out the circumstantial evidence, including the tight 15-minute window given to him, which left no time for careful thought.
He also suggests she's already prepared to immigrate, making herself untouchable. Xi Manling admits she knew he might figure it out but didn't expect it so quickly. She asks what he will do, even suggesting he could manipulate her into confessing to the police. Nan Hua responds cryptically, expressing regret he didn't meet her sooner, implying limitations placed on him by "that woman." Xi Manling reacts with anger, which leads to a physical confrontation where she throws coffee at him.
Jin Xia wakes again, finding Ding Yanhai by her bedside. He tells her Nan Hua asked him to stay and look after her. Suddenly, they hear Jiang Xiaochuan's voice and see her assisting a weak Nan Hua into the house, explaining he was hit by coffee again. Nan Hua clarifies he dodged Xi Manling's attack, but the coffee splash came from an accidental collision with Jiang Xiaochuan, who was carrying coffee while going to a friend's birthday party nearby. He is glad Jin Xia can still recharge him. Ding Yanhai mentions he saw Mrs. Bruno's death certificate, which stated the cause was suffocation by vomit after drinking.
This confirmed that Mrs. Bruno's death was an accident, not caused by Nan Hua's actions while possessed (feigning an allergy death by taking Amoxicillin) or an acute liver failure from aspirin and alcohol as initially suspected based on the scene. Given the lack of evidence, Xi Manling evaded consequence for her scheme. Jiang Xiaochuan needs to leave to celebrate her friend's birthday. Ding Yanhai offers to escort her to her ride-sharing car.
On the way, Ding Yanhai questions if the previous driver who picked her up was Mr. Li, the CEO of Qingshi Group.
