Girlfriend Episode 14 Recap
> Girlfriend Recap
Gu Yunzhou rushed to Jiayi's side after hearing about her serious foot injury, anxiously picking her up to take her to the hospital. Though Jiayi initially insisted on going home, Gu Yunzhou stressed the severity of her injury. At the hospital, a nurse confirmed Jiayi's injury was only a minor sprain, not involving bones, and would recover with a few days of cold compression. Jiayi noticed Gu Yunzhou's expensive-looking suit and that he was driving Director Li's car.
Gu Yunzhou quickly improvised excuses, claiming he had rented the suit after working at a wedding and was washing Director Li's car because the director was too busy. Jiayi, innocent and trusting, believed his explanations and refused his offer to pay for her medical bill, noting he worked for money. Still worried about Jiayi's sprained ankle, Gu Yunzhou later asked Ye Feimo if he still had imported medicine for boxing injuries.
He expressed concern for actresses like Jiayi and Wen Xiaonuan, pointing out how high heels make them prone to injury, especially on set. Though Ye Feimo stated he would get Jiayi a pair of sneakers, this conversation actually sparked a protective instinct in him regarding Wen Xiaonuan, leading him to decide to buy her sneakers, emphasizing she shouldn't wear high heels unnecessarily, particularly on set, due to the risk of injury.
Acting on this newfound concern, Ye Feimo visited a high-end store, asking to see their best women's shoes. He selected a white pair in size 37. When the salesperson mentioned it was a "lover model" with a matching men's version, suggesting he buy both for a girlfriend or wife, Ye Feimo quickly claimed the women's shoes were for his mother. Then, he added the men's matching pair, claiming it was for his father, earning him praise for his filial piety.
The next morning, Ye Feimo waited outside the gate, having deliberately created a large puddle. When Wen Xiaonuan approached, he instructed her to take off her shoes to avoid getting the new company-issued ones dirty. She reluctantly complied, complaining that he was making things difficult and now she had no shoes for work.
Ye Feimo then presented the sneakers he had purchased, but Wen Xiaonuan protested, reminding him of the company's special training rules which mandated artists wear high heels at all times, except for sleeping and dancing, to maintain proper posture and avoid mark deductions. She threatened to run back barefoot if he didn't take her home to retrieve her high heels.
Unyielding, Ye Feimo ignored her protests, picked her up, carried her to his car, and personally put the sneakers on her feet, noting they seemed to fit well. Wen Xiaonuan then directly asked if he was worried she would sprain her ankle like Jiayi, which was why he bought her the shoes. Ye Feimo, unwilling to admit his true feelings, simply dismissed her query, telling her she was "thinking too much."
At the car, Wen Xiaonuan attempted to persuade Ye Feimo to park at a less conspicuous spot far from the set, fearing unwanted attention if her colleagues saw her exit his car. Ye Feimo, however, ignored her pleas for distance and instead drove directly to a secluded area near the set, ensuring privacy before letting her out. Once Wen Xiaonuan was inside, Ye Feimo subtly changed into the matching men's sneakers, completing their "lover model" set.
Wen Xiaonuan's initial takes were challenging, with the director repeatedly calling "cut" and stressing the importance of achieving the "highest quality." Fortunately, Zhou Xiaojing had arranged for Xiaomei to assist Wen Xiaonuan on set. Xiaomei expressed sympathy, lamenting Wen Xiaonuan's exhausting morning and criticizing Director Li, while also remarking on how easy Ye Feimo seemed to have it.
Wen Xiaonuan defended both Director Li, explaining he was aiming for better results, and Ye Feimo, playfully yet pointedly noting that as a company decision-maker who "always shows up with that look" and "has to think about how to trick others," he was, in fact, "the most tired of all." After repeated attempts, Wen Xiaonuan finally received the director's approval, and they broke for lunch. Reviewing the script for the afternoon, Wen Xiaonuan excitedly discovered a major kissing scene.
Upon asking who her male lead would be, the director confirmed it would be "Anning's top actor." Overjoyed, Wen Xiaonuan immediately speculated to Xiaomei that it must be Mo Xiaobai, praising his good looks and acting skills, and frantically preparing with gum and lipstick for the anticipated scene, though she claimed her trembling was due to excitement rather than nervousness. To Wen Xiaonuan's shock, "Anning's top actor" turned out to be Ye Feimo.
She confronted him, accusing him of using his position for personal gain, calling it "using public office for private gain." Ye Feimo, however, coolly justified the decision, citing company goals for the trailer's popularity and research showing a significant increase in views for trailers with kissing scenes. He insisted the scene benefited both the project and her career, urging her to demonstrate basic professionalism.
When she retorted that he was clearly acting for his own personal interests, he merely dismissed her as "thinking too much." Meanwhile, Han Hui, meeting with Jiang Fang, received surprising news. Jiang Fang revealed that Wen Xiaonuan was cast as the female lead for the "Blue Sky Galaxy" teaser, hinting it was a move to promote her. He then dropped the bombshell: Ye Feimo was the male lead, reportedly taking the role personally for Wen Xiaonuan.
Enraged, Han Hui immediately demanded to know the filming location – the New Element Factory – and rushed off. On set, to get back at Ye Feimo, Wen Xiaonuan had secretly eaten a large amount of garlic, causing her breath to be unpleasantly pungent. During the kissing scene, the director repeatedly called "cut," instructing Ye Feimo to be more tender and less rigid. Wen Xiaonuan, trying to disrupt the scene further, suggested they "pretend to kiss."
However, Director Li sternly reminded Ye Feimo of his professional duty as an actor before the camera. Challenged, Ye Feimo surprised everyone by pulling Wen Xiaonuan close and kissing her deeply and passionately. Director Li immediately captured the emotional moment. Just then, Han Hui arrived, witnessing the embrace, which she found utterly infuriating. Wen Xiaonuan attempted to explain it was "just acting," but Han Hui dismissively pulled her away, asking why she was embarrassed after kissing him.
The passionate kiss between Wen Xiaonuan and Ye Feimo quickly became the talk of the entire company. With only thirty minutes remaining until the global simultaneous release of the "Blue Sky Galaxy" trailer, Gu Yunzhou, as the distribution coordinator, gathered his team. He emphasized the project's immense importance to the company and urged everyone to double-check all materials to ensure a flawless launch, proclaiming their ambition to achieve a significant success.
His team reported that promotional materials were ready across all major domestic and international video platforms, official company social media, and physical locations like airports and train stations in all 34 provincial capitals. Despite this being Wen Xiaonuan's debut, Ye Feimo appeared remarkably calm. When asked if he was worried about the trailer's performance potentially disappointing Wen Xiaonuan, he confidently stated that with Director Li Can, Anning's production, and his own performance, there was no cause for concern.
He even playfully deflected responsibility, claiming that if anything went wrong, it would be the fault of Gu Yunzhou, the "distribution coordinator who had left his post without permission." Before leaving, Gu Yunzhou reminded him that this pre-release period was typically the "toughest time" for a rookie artist. Wen Xiaonuan was indeed restless, struggling with dance practice as the launch approached.
When Ye Feimo asked if she was nervous, she initially denied it, then admitted a slight anxiety about the teaser's reception, fearing it might not perform well and would waste everyone's hard work. Ye Feimo, in his characteristic blunt manner, "comforted" her by asserting that a project he personally oversaw could never go wrong.
He then mockingly added that if by some "what if" scenario it did fail, it would undoubtedly be her fault, specifically blaming the "garlic" she had eaten before their kissing scene. As the final countdown began, the "Blue Sky Galaxy" teaser officially launched. The video opened with Wen Xiaonuan, resembling a fairy in a pristine white gown, gracefully wandering through a grand, ethereal hall, her gaze searching for her beloved. As if summoned, her lover appeared, and in a dreamlike sequence, they shared a tender, passionate embrace.
