Qi Xun firmly told Director Du that their relationship could only be that of good colleagues and friends. He explained that they were both like machines, driven by work, and that two machines could never find love together. Director Du, heartbroken, asked why Feng Shuangshuang was different. Qi Xun responded sincerely, stating that Feng Shuangshuang was his heart.
He then offered Director Du a birthday present: he would leave MIST under her full management starting the next day due to personal reasons. Devastated, Director Du rejected the offer, saying she wouldn't want the company without him. Despite her sadness, she managed to try and offer him a piece of birthday cake, but Qi Xun could only apologize again.
Director Du, unable to bear the pain, left the celebration, and Feng Shuangshuang understood the truth of Qi Xun and Director Du's conversation, leaving colleagues to wonder if the two had fought. She then cried alone in the rain. Meanwhile, He Zhengchang met with Jian Bai in a car, instructing him to install a tracking device on Feng Shuangshuang's phone.
Jian Bai was hesitant, questioning He Zhengchang's extreme methods, from spyware to potential kidnapping or murder, and arguing that He Zhengchang was overstepping moral boundaries. He Zhengchang, however, retorted that he had no such "bottom-line," having been in an abyss his whole life. He recounted the three-hour fire at Xun Xue's house, emphasizing that nothing could bring his brother back or restore his own life.
Seeing He Zhengchang's deep-seated pain and desperation, Jian Bai, despite his reservations, reluctantly agreed to help him one last time. The next day, Director Du returned to work, seemingly composed despite her earlier heartbreak, impressing her colleagues who admired her as an "iron lady." When Feng Shuangshuang arrived, Director Du immediately piled on urgent project deadlines, including an inspection for the Eco Park.
Feng Shuangshuang expressed concerns about the tight schedule, but Director Du aggressively questioned her capability, suggesting someone else could take her place if she couldn't handle it. Reluctantly, Feng Shuangshuang accepted the demanding tasks. Qi Xun came to comfort Feng Shuangshuang, but he could not make her happy. Director Du then ordered everyone to participate in the Eco Park inspection, threatening resignation for anyone who refused.
Afterwards, Qi Xun approached Feng Shuangshuang, asking if she liked the present he had given her. Qi Tian met with Kun Lan by the roadside. She was busy carefully collecting tiny snails, worried they would be stepped on by passersby due to their small size and slow movement. Kun Lan joined her, helping to gather the snails.
Qi Tian expressed her admiration for the snails, believing they had dreams and bravely persevered to reach their goals, unlike herself who felt unable to achieve anything. Changing the subject, she presented Kun Lan with a gift. Kun Lan initially refused it, but seeing Qi Tian's disappointment, he softened and accepted it, though he asked her not to give him gifts again. They then continued to collect snails together.
Later, during the Eco Park inspection, Feng Shuangshuang felt unwell and went to the washroom, entrusting her bag to Jian Bai. While she was away, Jian Bai, acting on He Zhengchang's instructions, secretly installed a tracking device on her phone. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew the bag into the river. Qi Xun, passing by, saw the bag floating and a stammering Jian Bai, mistakenly believing Feng Shuangshuang had fallen into the water.
Without hesitation, he leaped into the cold river to search for her. When Feng Shuangshuang emerged from the washroom, she was surprised to find Qi Xun in the river. Colleagues informed her that Qi Xun had jumped in because her bag had fallen. Qi Xun, embarrassed by the misunderstanding, made an excuse about important company documents in the bag and quickly left the scene. Some colleagues found the whole incident amusing, with one even filming Qi Xun's "heroic" jump.
Later that evening, everyone gathered around a campfire, excitedly discussing Qi Xun's earlier leap into the river. When Feng Shuangshuang arrived with ginger tea for Qi Xun, the group dispersed. Qi Xun drank the tea, feeling much better. He then shared a personal reflection, admitting that as a child, he envied other kids who could enjoy various foods, while he could only consume tasteless things.
Despite having everything he needed and his sister Qi Tian, he often felt isolated, like being confined in a watchtower, observing others' joyous smiles from a distance, feeling like he existed in a completely different world. He then asked Feng Shuangshuang if they were reconciled. Feng Shuangshuang confessed she lacked the confidence to answer definitively, instead asking why he jumped into the cold, dangerous water without thinking.
Qi Xun explained his panic when he heard Jian Bai shouting her name and saw her bag in the water. He simply didn't want to lose her because she was the most important person to him. They then shared a yam, playfully debating whether it was a yam or a sweet potato, enjoying a warm and intimate conversation. Upon hearing from Qi Tian that Qi Xun was sick, Feng Shuangshuang went to his house to care for him.
Qi Xun, who was coughing frequently, tried to push her away, claiming his cold was severe and he didn't want to infect her. Undeterred, Feng Shuangshuang prepared his medicine. Qi Xun, hoping to confirm their reconciliation, asked if her concern meant they were "good now." He then feigned aversion to the bitter taste of the medicine, proposing a reward in exchange for taking it.
Feng Shuangshuang understood his implication and leaned in for a kiss, but Qi Xun playfully pulled back, reminding her he was contagious. However, Feng Shuangshuang ignored his warning and kissed him anyway, asking if he would take his medicine now. Encouraged, Qi Xun quickly finished the medicine and immediately requested another kiss. He then continued to playfully insist on a date the next day and wanting to be with her, despite her busy schedule and his illness.
