Shuangshuang tenderly rubbed Qi Xun, who had been beaten by her. Qi Xun, feigning pain, saw that Shuangshuang still cared for him. He apologized repeatedly, saying his shoulder, head, and wrist hurt, asking her to rub them. Shuangshuang, realizing his act, called him childish and announced she was leaving. Qi Xun asked where she was going, and she replied home.

He then pointed out she was going to Kun Lan’s house, not her own, and said he had wanted to walk her home but she wouldn't let him, so he had to follow. Shuangshuang pleaded with him to stop provoking her, saying she couldn't understand his intentions and wondering if he was only approaching her to save Qi Tian. Qi Xun explained that he used to avoid deep connections with others, believing Qi Tian was enough for him.

However, realizing Qi Tian might not always be there, he became desperate to find a cure for her, acknowledging his extreme methods. He then confessed that after meeting Shuangshuang, his perspective changed dramatically. He began to constantly think of her, wanting to know where she was, what she was doing, and if she was happy. He admitted he initially approached her due to suspicions about her connection to healers, but then found her face and voice consuming his thoughts.

He questioned if he loved her but couldn't answer himself until the moment she decided to leave him; that was when he truly realized he had fallen in love with her. Shuangshuang, deeply moved, received a call from Kun Lan and said she was returning home, then left Qi Xun. Later, Tian Tian found Kun Lan, feeling he had something on his mind. She suspected it was about Shuangshuang but declared she didn't care, only that she liked him.

Kun Lan reiterated that they could never be together, stating they were not the same kind of people, just like him and Qi Xun. Tian Tian acknowledged this but insisted that "realistic obstacles" didn't matter. She said destiny was uncertain, and death or farewell could happen at any moment, so if they had a chance to be together, that was what truly mattered.

She asked what he would do if tomorrow were the end of the world, then vowed to follow him every day and confess her love even if he rejected her a hundred times, because being by his side was her greatest wish. Kun Lan, softened by her words, asked why she had come.

Tian Tian explained she wanted to ask him out but needed to schedule dates a day in advance because her brother was extremely strict, wanting to lock her up at home. Kun Lan agreed, and they sealed it with a pinky promise. Shuangshuang and Qi Xun were later seen at a roadside stall. Shuangshuang ordered liquor and dared Qi Xun to out-drink her, which he struggled with but was determined to do after confirming she wanted to reconcile.

They played games, enjoying each other’s company. As they became tipsy, Qi Xun passionately declared he cared about Shuangshuang. She slapped him playfully, then confessed she cared for him too. Briefly stunned, Qi Xun then embraced her. Shuangshuang then asked, referencing a saying about relying on parents at home, if she could rely on him when out in the world, to which Qi Xun confirmed. She asked if he preferred cats or dogs; he chose cats, and she playfully meowed.

When he asked her preference, she said dogs and barked. Tearfully, Shuangshuang repeatedly told Qi Xun she liked him. Deeply moved, Qi Xun stood up and shouted "I'm sorry" to her, over and over again. They embraced, solidifying their feelings for each other. Qi Xun then joyfully proclaimed himself the boyfriend of "Feng Shuangshuang, the most beautiful girl in the whole universe."

From a mountaintop, Qi Xun told Shuangshuang how much he missed her during their time apart, regardless of whether she missed him too. Back at his office, Qi Xun was visibly distracted, completely smitten. Shi Lang noticed Qi Xun's newfound love and asked about his absence the previous night. Qi Xun claimed he was working overtime and revealed that Shuangshuang was close to forgiving him, leading him to seek a gift for her.

Shi Lang and Tian Tian, who had just arrived, offered suggestions. Shi Lang eagerly told Tian Tian that her brother wanted advice on a gift for his future wife. Tian Tian suggested typical gifts like roses, chocolates, scarves, gloves, or jewelry like bracelets, but Qi Xun brushed her off, calling her a child who only needed a stuffed bear.

Finding no useful advice from them, Qi Xun, uncharacteristically hesitant, approached Director Du and asked her to accompany him shopping, asking for her help to pick a gift for Shuangshuang. Director Du tried on a dress that Qi Xun liked, and when she asked if it looked good, he complimented her, saying it suited her well. Director Du decided to buy it, but Qi Xun surprised her by telling her to keep it as a gift.

Director Du was taken aback by his sudden gesture, misinterpreting his intentions. The next day, Director Du and Qi Xun were in his office discussing project plans, with Qi Xun earnestly explaining design concepts for airflow and daylight. Shuangshuang walked in to find Qi Xun, saw them engrossed in conversation, and quietly retreated. Later, at Director Du's birthday celebration, she pulled Qi Xun aside, telling him she had something important to say, fearing she might never get another chance.

She reminded him they had known each other for seven years and had been through many things, implying he understood why she had stayed by his side. She confessed that while she initially believed they were just friends, his recent change in attitude had encouraged her to "give it a shot." She then confessed her deep affection for him and wondered if their relationship could evolve beyond friendship.

Qi Xun suggested they celebrate her birthday first and talk later, but Director Du pressed for an immediate answer. Qi Xun explained there was a misunderstanding and that he already had someone he liked. Director Du directly asked if it was Feng Shuangshuang, and Qi Xun confirmed it. Director Du, still unwilling to give up, questioned why Shuangshuang, whom he had only known for a short time, was better than her.

She reminded him of her unwavering presence when MIST was founded, during his late-night work sessions, and when he fell ill. Qi Xun responded that it was different. When she pressed for an explanation, he clarified that she was an excellent work partner and friend, but their relationship could not progress further. He observed that they were very much alike, both like machines that only truly lived by constantly working. He apologized, stating that two machines could not generate love. Director Du then asked why Feng Shuangshuang was different, to which Qi Xun replied sincerely, "Because she is my heart."
