Flipped Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Qi Xun wandered the streets, observing people caught up in daily life, contemplating love and work. No one knew that a small error could lead to the emergence of a "monster" like him – an esper who lacked the senses of smell and taste but possessed the ability to teleport. Though he didn't understand why he had become this way, Qi Xun was determined to find a solution.
Beneath his cool exterior, Qi Xun was fiercely devoted to his younger sister, Tiantian, who suffered from poor health and often saw glimpses of the future. While eating with Tiantian, Qi Xun asked if her stunted growth was due to constantly eating bland food with him. Suddenly, Tiantian became unwell and sat motionless. Qi Xun anxiously reached for his phone, but Tiantian recovered and revealed a vision to her brother: a female painter would steal his first kiss.
Embarrassed, Qi Xun chided her, telling her not to peek into the future anymore. He then left to meet his friend, Shi Lang, to inquire about any progress regarding Tiantian's condition. Shi Lang explained that besides espers, there were also healers, who might be Tiantian's only hope. He described Qi Xun and Tiantian's powers (teleportation and clairvoyance, respectively) as overt, like continents easily found.
In contrast, healers were like an undiscovered continent, highly hidden, perhaps even unaware of their own identities. Qi Xun pressed for any leads. Shi Lang mentioned a female doctor from over a decade ago, whose remarkable achievements suggested she was the person they sought. However, she vanished after a fire engulfed her home and her entire family disappeared.
Shi Lang suspected someone deliberately destroyed the records, but he believed he could find her address from old news reports, allowing Qi Xun to teleport there. He cautioned Qi Xun not to reveal his true intentions or let Tiantian know the seriousness of her condition. Qi Xun thanked Shi Lang, who insisted that Tiantian's well-being was his concern too. Moments later, Qi Xun’s phone rang.
It was Director Du, calling to demand his presence at MIST Construction, but Qi Xun, clearly uninterested, simply hung up. Shi Lang watched as Qi Xun suddenly vanished, using his teleportation ability without a word. Qi Xun reappeared in an unfamiliar place, immediately feeling disoriented and experiencing flashes of images in his mind. The discomfort was overwhelming, and he instinctively plunged into a nearby body of water. Still dazed, he accidentally collided with Shuangshuang, a painter.
Her brush, laden with paint, smeared across his face, leaving a distinctive mark. Shuangshuang was mortified, but Sister Bai Fang, who was present, intervened on her behalf. Sister Bai Fang introduced Shuangshuang as the talented painter MIST Construction had hired, whose works Qi Xun himself had previously admired. She also informed another party that Qi Xun was the youngest winner of the prestigious EW Awards and the founder of MIST Construction.
Shuangshuang explained that she disliked crowds and often felt "peoplesick." Qi Xun, now with paint on his face, was then hurried away, but the chaotic encounter left an impression of Shuangshuang on him. Shuangshuang was indeed a renowned artist, with her paintings currently exhibited at Qi Xun's company. After completing her work, she sought to escape the crowds and headed home. On her way, she stopped downstairs to taste a new dish prepared by Brother Xin, a local chef.
She also encountered Kun Lan, her newly moved-in neighbor. Kun Lan seemed to have been searching for Shuangshuang for quite some time and was overly enthusiastic. However, Shuangshuang, who was always trying to avoid someone, responded to Kun Lan with reserve. Later that evening, Kun Lan knocked on Shuangshuang's door, offering her a gift he had made.
He suggested exchanging contact information, but Shuangshuang claimed her phone was broken, so Kun Lan gave her his number, stating she could call him anytime. The very next morning, the person Shuangshuang had been avoiding arrived. Brother Xin called her, warning that "that man" was already on her floor. Panicked that her "den" was no longer safe, Shuangshuang saw the man attempting to pick her lock. Desperate, she tried to climb out her window.
Kun Lan, seeing her plight, helped her down and offered her refuge in his apartment. Inside, Kun Lan reminded her that they had known each other since childhood, recalling an incident where he fell into her yard while climbing a tree, and she watched him from her window. Seeing his ring and recalling a time her father had locked her in, Shuangshuang finally remembered him as "watermelon head." Kun Lan confirmed this was him.
When he asked if she was hiding from someone, she admitted it. Kun Lan volunteered to create a diversion upstairs, posing as the resident of Shuangshuang's apartment. When confronted by the pursuer, Kun Lan feigned ignorance, denying any knowledge of a "short, round-faced girl who likes drawing," then pretended to be sleepwalking, successfully confusing the pursuer and allowing Shuangshuang to escape undetected. Meanwhile, Shi Lang continued his search in the archives for clues about healers.
Later, he joined Qi Xun to take Tiantian to school. As Tiantian was not well, Shi Lang often carried her. Tiantian good-naturedly complained about their "high-profile" escort, but both Qi Xun and Shi Lang insisted they were protecting her from "rascals" at school. Qi Xun, affirming Shi Lang's decision, insisted she remain carried, even when she threatened to tell her mother, reminding her that they were her only family.
As they arrived at school, Tiantian told Qi Xun he would have "new progress today," a comment Qi Xun dismissed, telling her to go to class. After dropping Tiantian off, Shi Lang informed Qi Xun that he had found news reports confirming his earlier suspicions: someone had indeed been looking for the female doctor and had deliberately set the fire that caused her disappearance.
Before Shi Lang could finish, Qi Xun, experiencing the abnormal discomfort that accompanied his teleportation, abruptly vanished without a word. He instantly appeared at the site of the burnt-down house. As he entered an area with a peculiar halo, the pain intensified, making him desperate to escape. In his agony, he accidentally teleported, finding himself crashing into Shuangshuang's art studio. He fell, his lips meeting hers in an unexpected kiss. Just as Tiantian had predicted, a painter had taken Qi Xun's first kiss, marking a significant development in his day.
Episode 2 Recap
Long ago, during the process of biological evolution, a group of unique individuals emerged among humanity, possessing a mysterious and unknown power. They were known as espers. In this world, everything comes with a price, and espers were no exception. God, being benevolent, created healers to cure the espers' ailments and then created guardians to protect the healers. However, one guardian failed to protect their assigned healer, who suffered brutal retaliation.
Believing himself unworthy to fulfill his duty, he passed on the Ring of Aegis to his descendant, tasking him with protecting the next healer. Meanwhile, Kun Lan, at Kun's lab, recalled words from his grandfather and quietly contemplated while holding a crystal pendant around his neck. Qi Xun and Shuangshuang shared an unexpected kiss, which was witnessed by numerous employees leaving work.
They watched in astonishment as their stern boss openly kissed a woman, only for her to push him away. Complicating matters, Shuangshuang’s hair became tangled with Qi Xun’s clothes. In a moment of quick thinking, Shuangshuang grabbed a pair of scissors and cut her hair free. She then hastily left, while Qi Xun, embarrassed, ordered his employees to disperse. Despite his efforts, the office romance rumor was far too juicy for the staff to ignore.
Later, at home, Shi Lang was helping Tian Tian with chores when Qi Xun arrived. He called Shi Lang aside to recount his two unusual encounters with Shuangshuang. Shi Lang suggested they must be incredibly fated. Qi Xun explained that every time he teleports, he suffers from a painful headache, but the moment he kissed Shuangshuang, he felt a profound sense of comfort and relaxation.
Shi Lang, with a mischievous grin, proposed that Qi Xun should try kissing Shuangshuang again to see if he got the same sensation, prompting Qi Xun to angrily call him insane. Shi Lang dismissed Qi Xun's theories about healers, insisting that his physical reactions were simply signs of falling in love, like fireworks igniting in one's heart during a kiss.
Meanwhile, Bai Fang questioned Shuangshuang about the incident with Qi Xun, teasing her about a "secret office romance" and her "first kiss." Shuangshuang, greatly embarrassed, explained it was merely an accident and denied any relationship. She dramatically declared she might have to quit or be fired, even joking about being "murdered to silence" if she stayed. She asked Bai Fang to warn her if Qi Xun was nearby and wanted a list of the witnesses.
Just then, Bai Fang received a call from Qi Xun and had to leave. Qi Xun had called Bai Fang to his office, seeking detailed information about Feng Shuangshuang. Mistakenly believing Qi Xun intended to end their collaboration due to the incident, Bai Fang hastily defended Shuangshuang, highlighting her artistic talent and the unfortunate circumstance of her father changing her university application, preventing her from attending.
Qi Xun clarified that he desired a long-term partnership, implying a recruitment offer for MIST, and was merely interested in understanding Shuangshuang better for future observation, dismissing her personal history as irrelevant to her talent. The news of this long-term partnership offer made Shuangshuang very happy. Excited, Shuangshuang headed home. Unbeknownst to Qi Xun, who was following her, Shuangshuang had already noticed his presence. She and Brother Xin concocted a plan to trick him.
As Shuangshuang arrived at her residence, Brother Xin informed her that someone had "somehow gotten in and lives there now," referring to Qi Xun. Inside, Qi Xun was casually drinking water. Shuangshuang confronted him directly, asking if he had fallen for her after their kiss and that was why he was tailing her. Qi Xun scoffed at her "imagination" and instead demanded the return of his jacket button that she had cut off.
Just then, Kun Lan arrived, reminding Shuangshuang that she needed to pick up a parcel. They went to find the postman, who suspiciously claimed the parcel had already been "sent upstairs." Recognizing a potential threat, Kun Lan urged Shuangshuang to hurry upstairs with him. There, Shuangshuang found her aging father, Feng Yun, drunk and unconscious on the bed, calling her name, a sight that filled her with sorrow. Kun Lan helped Shuangshuang hide.
She then confided in Kun Lan about her childhood. She recounted how her father had always loved her, and she him, but after her mother's untimely death, he became overly protective, constantly fearing for her safety. She remembered him holding her in his arms, teaching her to draw the trees and her mother's flowers, and how she would sign his paintings with a single flower while he guided her hand.
However, he gradually transformed, becoming short-tempered and paranoid, often locking her in the house, or even in a box if she resisted. One day, after losing count of how many times she'd been confined, she saw what she thought was a mouse, then corrected herself, saying it was just a shadow, realizing she had been talking to herself. Recognizing the deteriorating situation, she fled, and had been avoiding her father ever since.
After saying goodbye to Kun Lan, Shuangshuang decided to spend the night in her art studio. Later that night, Qi Xun's sister, Tian Tian, had another dream, seeing "him and I. . ." Although the dream's details were vague, it left her too excited to sleep. She found Qi Xun, who was deep in thought about how to approach Shuangshuang. He sought Tian Tian’s advice on how to get to know a girl.
Tian Tian suggested checking her QQ page to learn her interests and simply appearing around her often. She even tested him with a hypothetical "I'm sick" scenario, to which Qi Xun humorously replied, "Hand in a report for a leave more than three days." Despite his detached response, he seemed to take her advice, telling her to get some rest. The next morning, Shuangshuang arrived at the MIST headquarters for her first day.
Bai Fang gave her a tour of the spacious design studio. She explained that Qi Xun deliberately designed it to be open, like a radio station, to naturally encourage quiet work and focus, rather than relying on strict rules. Shuangshuang playfully remarked that Qi Xun was "mingy."
Bai Fang then introduced her to the team members: Meng Tao, the youngest; "Fatty," who was always asleep; Cai Cheng, the artist boy; Si Si, a cute girl; Milianlu, the energetic lady; Joe, the warm-hearted one; and Ai, the new intern. She confirmed that due to the demanding hours, many employees often slept at the office. Bai Fang then asked Shuangshuang if she was willing to be a "long-term partner."
Suddenly, Qi Xun and Director Du entered, causing everyone to scramble awake and appear busy. Director Du immediately confronted Qi Xun about a previously approved design that had unexpectedly driven up costs, expressing frustration that he was prioritizing design over budget, effectively questioning the purpose of the operations department. Qi Xun coolly dismissed her concerns, mentioning his own reasons for the change. Qi Xun, in turn, offered a solution for the cost issue.
Just then, Shuangshuang's phone loudly rang, disrupting the quiet atmosphere. Director Du glared, annoyed by the "low-level mistake." Qi Xun, unfazed, called Shuangshuang to his office, telling her to represent him at a dinner that evening. In his office, Shuangshuang reiterated her lack of architectural design knowledge. Qi Xun presented her with one of her design sketches, critiquing her choice of a 60-degree angle, stating that the proposed house would not last long, even with the materials’ properties.
He acknowledged her talent for drawing and offered her a position to create decorative paintings for the interior design department and croquis for their completed projects. He expressed that it would be a pity for her talent to be wasted on "insignificant projects." As Shuangshuang was considering the offer, her father, Feng Yun, burst into the office, loudly demanding to see Feng Shuangshuang. Security guards tried to stop him, but he persisted.
Shuangshuang, panicked, begged Qi Xun to help her hide, fearing she wouldn't be able to work there if her father found her. Qi Xun agreed. He stepped forward to confront Feng Yun, deliberately calling him a "has-been" painter. Feng Yun confirmed he was Shuangshuang's father. Qi Xun then fabricated a story, claiming that Shuangshuang was collaborating on a project but had absconded with the funds halfway through. He then offered to pay off the "project funds" himself.
Before leaving, a fuming Feng Yun warned Qi Xun to stay away from his daughter. After Feng Yun left, Qi Xun, musing aloud, wondered, "Who is the has-been?" He then informed Shuangshuang that her first assignment for drawing croquis would be "here," indicating the office itself. He also reminded her once more to return his button. Shuangshuang asked if the button was very expensive, to which Qi Xun replied, "It costs quite a lot."
Episode 3 Recap
Shuangshuang emerged from Qi Xun’s office looking utterly dejected, clutching a stack of files. When a colleague, Bai Fang, asked what was wrong, Shuangshuang simply shook her head, mentioning that she had to write a report after reviewing all the documents, and continued to walk away in a daze. After she left, other employees quickly gathered, gossiping about Shuangshuang and Director Qi. They discussed how she was an "airborne troop" and recalled seeing her with Director Qi at the museum.
One colleague noted that Director Qi was usually cold towards Director Du, but became "quite aggressive when it's time for him to act" for someone he liked. Director Du, overhearing the chatter, sternly reminded them to focus on their work, saying, "Did I hire you to gossip around?" She assigned them reports to be submitted by five o'clock and then went to speak with Director Qi herself.
Director Du questioned Qi Xun about Shuangshuang’s hiring, pointing out her lack of experience and university education. Qi Xun admitted he had never acted as an HR but found it interesting. He asserted that Shuangshuang was very gifted and that her ideas and concepts would be more impressive than those of many professional designers, despite her not being a professional. He stated, "I need her," and informed Director Du that Shuangshuang would be working under her supervision.
Director Du, frustrated, muttered about being saddled with a "good-for-nothing" and questioned if she appeared patient and even-tempered. After Qi Xun left, she wondered if Shuangshuang was merely an intern. Separately, Qi Xun discussed Shuangshuang with Shi Lang, stating his intention to take her to a specific location. Shi Lang, teasingly, asked if he meant "that girl with long hair who is good at drawing and when you kiss her, you feel especially comfortable."
Qi Xun affirmed, explaining his theory: Shuangshuang could be an ESP user with healing abilities or the healer they were searching for, and he needed to investigate her powers, purpose, and if it was related to a certain house. Shi Lang jokingly suggested Qi Xun was using the inspection as an excuse to kiss her, but Qi Xun dismissed his friend's comments as silly, while Shi Lang tacitly approved his plan.
Later, Shuangshuang received an urgent call from her landlord demanding overdue rent and threatening to re-rent her apartment by that night. She rushed home to find her landlord showing the apartment to prospective tenants, explaining that Shuangshuang was "always late paying her rent." Just as things looked dire, Kun Lan arrived and, without hesitation, offered to pay Shuangshuang's overdue rent, saving her apartment. The landlord, impressed by Kun Lan, quickly dismissed the other potential renters.
That evening, because Shuangshuang’s father, Feng Yun, had returned home, she decided to stay at her company. However, she realized she had forgotten her access card and couldn't get into the office. Kun Lan, seeing her distress, insisted she stay at his place. Shuangshuang was initially embarrassed, but Kun Lan enthusiastically prepared tea for her, cleaned his bedroom, and decorated it with a "girly" theme, giving it to her while he planned to sleep in the living room.
He even suggested they co-rent the apartment, so she could easily move back downstairs when her father left. Shuangshuang, accepting his offer, jokingly remarked that she wasn't cut out to be a girl, to which Kun Lan smiled, asking if she meant he was "more like a girl." Sharing a moment of laughter, Shuangshuang then presented Kun Lan with her manuscript fees, explaining that she valued this money greatly and by giving it to him, she was solidifying their friendship.
She told him to accept it as this month's rent, promising to pay the rest later. As Kun Lan rested on his sofa, he reminisced about his happy childhood memories with Shuangshuang, recalling moments like playing with a toy monkey and sharing cake. The next morning, Kun Lan gently woke a sleepy Shuangshuang, who had been studying files all night. He prepared milk and breakfast for her and insisted on driving her to work, claiming it was on his way.
As Kun Lan dropped Shuangshuang off in his luxury car, her colleagues noticed her arrival, sparking fresh gossip. Before Kun Lan drove off, he called out to Shuangshuang, reminding her to come back for dinner, clearly displaying their growing closeness. Inside, Director Du officially introduced Feng Shuangshuang as MIST's new team member.
Shuangshuang, attempting to be friendly, greeted everyone and expressed her hope of becoming friends, but Director Du quickly cut her off, stating, "You are here to work, not to make friends." She then summoned Shuangshuang to her office. Once there, Director Du reminded Shuangshuang of MIST's high standing in the architectural industry and pointed out that Shuangshuang was the first employee without relevant experience or a master's degree. Director Du sternly warned her, "I don't care who brought you here.
If you make a mistake, I'll fire you." As a test, she assigned Shuangshuang complex blueprints, instructing her to mark the positioning axis and draw actual renderings. Overwhelmed, Shuangshuang left the office feeling disheartened. Her colleagues, however, were sympathetic, reassuring her that Director Du was strict because of frequent late-night work and offering to help her learn. Shuangshuang admitted, "To be honest, I know nothing."
When a colleague, Meng Tao, tried to explain "positioning axis" to Shuangshuang, Qi Xun suspiciously observed them. Unable to contain himself, he interrupted, pushing Meng Tao aside and taking over the explanation. During his demonstration, he subtly touched Shuangshuang’s fingers, hoping for a reaction, but felt none. He then dismissively told her not to ask him such simple questions.
Later, when Shuangshuang brought documents to his office for signing, Qi Xun, still pondering the lack of reaction from her fingers, made an awkward attempt to touch her hair under the guise of examining her work. After a brief, comical struggle with his own movements, he managed to make contact, but again, felt no special sensation and awkwardly dismissed her. His internal thoughts continued to betray his curiosity. Shuangshuang diligently studied architectural concepts, even while eating in the library.
Qi Xun, still determined to investigate her, stood behind her, took a deep breath, and applied lip balm. He then embraced her from behind, almost kissing her, but hesitated and withdrew. Deciding on a more direct approach, Qi Xun informed Shuangshuang that she would accompany him on a project site inspection the following day.
When he discussed his plan with Shi Lang, Qi Xun explained this would confirm if Shuangshuang's identity was "the same as mine" or if she was "just a normal human" whose employment depended on passing her probation. Shi Lang, with a knowing smile, predicted that Shuangshuang would likely "think that you are in love with her," or perhaps, "she fell in love with you."
Episode 4 Recap
Tiantian, after dreaming of a boy and paragliding, skips class to ask Shi Lang for help finding a paraglider, citing it as "the most important thing." Shi Lang, though initially surprised by the reason, readily agrees to help. Qi Xun brings Shuangshuang to the old house, a location he himself had never entered. Shuangshuang asks if they are going to sketch there, noting its deserted feel.
She soon experiences a rush of unfamiliar yet intensely familiar memories, feeling like she has lived there for a very long time and growing deeply distressed, hearing a mother's loving voice in her mind. Meanwhile, Kun Lan senses the presence of a healer, then the simultaneous appearance of both a healer and an ESP user, and immediately instructs his companion Zha Zha to investigate.
Qi Xun, noticing Shuangshuang's increasing distress and suppressing his own discomfort, quickly leads her away from the site. Qi Xun takes Shuangshuang to Shi Lang's home, where he finds Tiantian already present, discussing buying a paraglider with Shi Lang. After settling Shuangshuang, Qi Xun explains to Shi Lang that Shuangshuang's experience at the old house was different from his own; instead of physical discomfort, she cried.
Shi Lang, considering the overcast and windy weather, suggests dust might have gotten into her eyes. However, he also speculates about Shuangshuang having a deep connection to the place, or even being a healer herself. Shuangshuang awakens at Shi Lang's house, disoriented and with no memory of her emotional breakdown at the old house. Qi Xun tells her she fainted during their inspection. Seeing Qi Xun and Tiantian together, Shuangshuang mistakenly assumes they are a couple.
She attempts to return home independently, but a quick check on her phone reveals she is over 300 kilometers away. Giving up on the long journey, she spends the afternoon at the beach with Qi Xun, observing Shi Lang and Tiantian playing. Back at the old house, Kun Lan and Zha Zha discover a sketchbook, which Kun Lan immediately recognizes as Shuangshuang's. On their way back, Qi Xun and Shuangshuang take the subway.
Shuangshuang happily discovers that Tiantian is Qi Xun's sister. She then quietly questions why he, a CEO of a profitable company, doesn't drive, jokingly calling him "noble among dogs." Qi Xun explains that car accidents have the highest death rate, making the subway a safer option. When the subway unexpectedly lurches, Shuangshuang tumbles into his arms. Later, as they part ways, Shuangshuang tries to hint if Qi Xun likes her.
He, however, tells her to go have dinner with her "boyfriend" she lives with. Confused, Shuangshuang denies having a boyfriend, to which Qi Xun responds by questioning her logic of living with someone who isn't her boyfriend, before coolly departing. Back at home, Shuangshuang finds Kun Lan holding her sketchbook, anxiously inquiring about her day. Shuangshuang explains that she fainted during a project inspection with a colleague, attributing it to overwork, and fell asleep, thus missing his calls.
Kun Lan, however, presses her for more details about who she was with, his anxious and insistent tone making Shuangshuang feel like she's being interrogated by her father and is about to be "locked up." She expresses her fear and confusion at his strange behavior, reminding him they are friends. Realizing his harshness, Kun Lan immediately apologizes before leaving, internally pondering the implications of healers and the past fire, questioning why he feels so worried about her.
Qi Xun confronts Tiantian about skipping class, expressing his worry. Tiantian, however, deflects by asking about his relationship with Shuangshuang, specifically why he took a fainted Shuangshuang to Shi Lang's house and if anything happened when he sent her home. Qi Xun, tired of her prying, dismisses her questions and warns her about future truancy before telling her to rest.
At the office, colleagues gossip nervously about a delivery man who stalks and robs women, wondering if something happened to Shuangshuang, who was unreachable and absent the previous day. Just then, Shuangshuang arrives, laden with drawings. Director Du immediately confronts her, chastising her for her disappearance, low professional quality, and attitude. When Shuangshuang tries to explain, Qi Xun intervenes, stating that he took her for a project inspection.
Director Du challenges him, asking if she needs his report for such matters. Tiantian then appears, explaining Qi Xun brought her to work because of the stalker news, further diffusing the tension. Despite her harsh words, Director Du genuinely cares, having been so worried she almost called the police and covering for Shuangshuang regarding an issue at the museum. She reasserts her position as Shuangshuang's immediate superior, demanding proper reporting for all future absences.
Concerned by Qi Xun's actions involving Shuangshuang, Kun Lan instructs Zha Zha to investigate him. Zha Zha reports that Qi Xun is the founder and chief architect of MIST, but his background information is completely blank. He also reveals that Qi Xun insisted on hiring Shuangshuang despite objections from other founders, confirming Kun Lan's suspicions about Qi Xun's unusual interest. Kun Lan then orders Zha Zha to continue monitoring Qi Xun closely.
In Qi Xun's office, a bored Tiantian teases him about being caught between someone who likes him and someone he likes, prompting Qi Xun to playfully threaten to lock her at home. Meanwhile, Director Du, despite her earlier reprimand, continues to guide Shuangshuang. She reviews Shuangshuang's recent assignment, criticizing her lack of emotional depth in her drawings and emphasizing the importance of respecting her work, even threatening to terminate her probation if her attitude doesn't improve.
Director Du then brings Shuangshuang to a Radius seminar, instructing her to observe the attitude of professional designers. During a project meeting, where the Radius project, an architectural design that won first prize in Germany under Qi Xun's leadership, is being discussed, Director Du demands a complete redo of the proposal based on client feedback. She then assigns Shuangshuang the task of developing three new proposals by the day after tomorrow.
That evening, Shuangshuang, engrossed in work at the library, is on the phone discussing her late return and missed dinner. She spots Qi Xun and attempts to greet him, but he walks past her without acknowledging her, leaving her feeling awkward.
Episode 5 Recap
One evening, Kun Lan brought an abundance of late-night snacks for Shuangshuang and her colleagues. Shuangshuang was touched by his thoughtfulness, feeling a bit guilty for their last interaction, but Kun Lan assured her he was happy as long as she was. As everyone enjoyed the food, they worried about their boss, Qi Xun, discovering them. Indeed, Qi Xun soon walked by jealously and went into his office.
Shuangshuang hesitantly invited him to join, but he curtly refused, stating he was too busy. Meanwhile, Qi Tian, Qi Xun's sister, happily joined the gathering. She was pleasantly surprised not just by the hotpot, but by Kun Lan, a man who had appeared in her dreams multiple times and looked familiar to her. The following day, everyone worked diligently, and Kun Lan continued to provide them with delicious food.
After several days of intense effort, their project finally received approval from Director Du. Shuangshuang returned home happily with Kun Lan, playfully bickering along the way. She was looking forward to a relaxing weekend, but then Qi Xun informed her that she needed to go sketching on-site, demanding results by Monday. Waking early the next morning, Shuangshuang found Kun Lan already gone.
She saw a note he left, which playfully referenced their bet by calling her "Noble among dogs" for waking up later, prompting her to declare that she was not a pig and neither was he. Shuangshuang then left, ready for her sketching trip. Back at Kun's Research Institute, Kun Lan encountered Shi Lang. Kun Lan's grandfather appeared, revealing that after thirteen years, the threat from He Taichang had resurfaced.
He recounted how Feng Yun had asked him years ago to protect Xun Xue from He Taichang. He admitted his mistake in underestimating He Taichang, a normal human without ESP powers, believing Feng Yun was paranoid. He emphasized that the human heart was far more dangerous than any power. He explained that He Taichang, having learned that Xun Xue was a healer, had desperately begged her to cure him and his brother.
A flashback showed He Taichang pleading with Doctor Xun Xue, who was then pregnant. When his initial plea failed, He Taichang devised another scheme. Kun Lan's grandfather implored him to protect Shuangshuang, not wanting history to repeat itself. Kun Lan promised that he had already sent Zha Zha to investigate and there would be no mistakes this time. Shuangshuang, following a map, noticed someone tailing her. Fortunately, a kind woman, Miss Wang, offered to guide her to her destination.
As they walked, Shuangshuang learned that Miss Wang was a doctor who now volunteered at the nursing home, where her late mother once resided. Miss Wang also had a distinctive red mole on the back of her neck. They parted ways at the site. Much later, after Shuangshuang finished her inspection, she tried to find Miss Wang to leave together but was told Miss Wang had already departed. Walking alone in the evening, Shuangshuang heard desperate cries for help.
Cautiously, she approached a small grove where the sounds originated, only to be abruptly pulled into the darkness by unseen hands. Meanwhile, Qi Xun and Shi Lang were discussing new leads concerning Xun Xue. Shi Lang mentioned a crucial detail about Xun Xue: she had a prominent red mole on the back of her neck.
Elsewhere, Kun Lan received an urgent call from Zha Zha, informing him that He Zhengchang was in a small grove near the nursing home and had kidnapped Shuangshuang. Realizing Shuangshuang was in danger, Kun Lan and Zha Zha immediately set off. At the same time, Qi Tian had a premonition of Shuangshuang being in peril in a forest near the nursing home and quickly alerted her brother.
Despite her warning that he too would be in danger, Qi Xun used his teleportation ability to rush to the grove, driven by concern for Shuangshuang. In the grove, Kun Lan's entrance caused a commotion. He Zhengchang, realizing that Miss Wang, whom he had kidnapped, was not Xun Xue, immediately released her. He then turned his attention to Shuangshuang, mistakenly believing she was Xun Xue, and attempted to kidnap her, demanding to know why she had harmed his brother.
Shuangshuang was confused, denying any knowledge and pleading to be released. He Zhengchang vowed to expose "healers" like her. Upon seeing the absence of the red mole on Shuangshuang's neck, he realized she wasn't Xun Xue. Just as Shuangshuang struggled against He Zhengchang, Qi Xun arrived, having endured his own discomfort to get there. He drove He Zhengchang away but was injured in the process. Shuangshuang, relieved but worried, insisted on taking him to the hospital.
Later, He Zhengchang was seen at his brother's grave, revealing he was He Taichang's brother and was seeking revenge for him (He Taichang). He confessed that his girlfriend, Jian Bai, had left him because of his overwhelming hatred, but he felt she couldn't understand the depth of his bond with his brother or how Xun Xue had shattered their hopes. He reaffirmed his resolve to find Xun Xue and demand why she had refused to help his brother.
Back at Qi Xun's home, Qi Tian was awake, waiting for her brother and Shuangshuang. She immediately noticed Qi Xun's injury and, despite his attempts to hide it (seemingly forgetting his sister's ability to foresee the future), she told Shuangshuang to take care of him. Shuangshuang asked Qi Xun how Qi Tian knew he was hurt, to which he replied he didn't know.
Shuangshuang also questioned why Qi Xun had come to rescue her, but he simply stated he was there for a project inspection and offered no further explanation for his presence. As Shuangshuang tended to Qi Xun's wound, perhaps due to her being a healer, he fell into a peaceful sleep. Shuangshuang sketched his sleeping face. Meanwhile, Kun Lan, still deeply worried, walked alone, trying to reach Shuangshuang. Kun Lan called Shuangshuang's phone, but Qi Tian answered.
She recognized Kun Lan from the hotpot delivery at MIST and greeted him warmly. However, Kun Lan, focused solely on Shuangshuang, didn't recall meeting Qi Tian, asking if she was Shuangshuang's colleague. When Qi Tian offered to call Shuangshuang, Kun Lan declined, politely ending the call. Disappointed, Qi Tian sat, pondering her future with Kun Lan. Despite her brother's strict warning never to actively predict the future, she couldn't resist. She used her ESP ability to glimpse Kun Lan's image, but the effort was too much, and she fainted from exhaustion.
Episode 6 Recap
Qi Tian, who had fainted, slowly awoke on the sofa. Shuangshuang was there, concerned, and tried to wake her and tell her to go to her room to rest. However, Shuangshuang seemed to transmit a peculiar energy to Qi Tian, causing her to open her eyes and recover instantly. Qi Tian remarked that she had experienced a strange sensation upon seeing Shuangshuang, and that her brother, Qi Xun, had also regained his childlike mischievousness since meeting her.
Shuangshuang was pleased but wondered if Qi Xun would truly like her. When Qi Tian asked if Shuangshuang would choose Kun Lan or Qi Xun, Shuangshuang clarified that Kun Lan was just a good friend. Satisfied with the answer, Qi Tian urged Shuangshuang to get some sleep. Shuangshuang returned to Qi Xun's room and eventually drifted off.
Qi Xun woke first, his wound still unhealed, but a small smile touched his lips as he gazed at a drawing Shuangshuang had made for him. He then headed for a hot shower. Shuangshuang was already awake and discreetly watched him, feeling a blush creep up, so she feigned sleep. After his shower, Qi Xun moved to cover Shuangshuang with a blanket, but Qi Tian burst into the room.
Qi Xun hastily tried to explain in a hushed tone, assuring Qi Tian that it was "not what you think." As he fumbled, Shuangshuang "woke up" again. Qi Tian, with a sweet smile, playfully called Shuangshuang "sister-in-law," much to the embarrassment of both Shuangshuang and Qi Xun. Later, Shuangshuang found her thoughts drifting to Qi Xun even while at work. Meanwhile, Qi Xun and Shi Lang were discussing Xun Xue.
Dr. Hao, a contact Shi Lang interviewed again, shared his long-standing interest in Xun Xue's treatment methods. Shi Lang showed Dr. Hao a photo, asking if the man resembled He Taichang, the arsonist who burned Xun Xue's house. Dr. Hao noted a resemblance, except for the hair color. Shi Lang then revealed that He Taichang had a younger brother, He Zhengchang, who disappeared after the fire.
In a flashback, a worried He Taichang, facing a terminal illness, tried to seek Xun Xue's help for his ailing younger brother, He Zhengchang, assuring him that Xun Xue had saved many people before. He believed in humanity's kindness and hoped repeated attempts would bring hope, despite their lack of money. However, Xun Xue ultimately did not cure He Zhengchang’s family, which Qi Xun believed was the main reason for He Taichang's hatred.
Following his brother’s death in the fire, He Zhengchang vowed revenge, believing Xun Xue and her people were responsible and hiding from him. Qi Xun theorized that Xun Xue was the woman being followed and that He Taichang's brother tried to harm her again, mistakenly targeting Miss Wang due to a strong resemblance. Qi Xun pondered if Xun Xue was still alive, feeling the investigation had once again plunged into mystery.
He then expressed his concern to Shi Lang, questioning if Shuangshuang was merely an ordinary person. He worried that by approaching and testing her, believing she could help Qi Tian, he had inadvertently put Shuangshuang in danger, and that his actions were becoming no different from He Zhengchang's. Shi Lang somewhat agreed but also couldn't completely deny that Shuangshuang might be a healer.
Qi Tian, disturbed by a dream featuring Kun Lan and a wedding, felt restless and called Shi Lang to ask him to go sightseeing with her, saying only he would accompany her because her brother wouldn't. Shi Lang was overjoyed, celebrating the invitation before rushing to pick her up. They later found a spot with many stars, and Qi Tian recalled Shi Lang's childhood saying that counting a star granted a wish.
As a meteor streaked across the sky, they both made wishes, though Shi Lang comically forgot his. Back at the office, Shuangshuang mused about Qi Xun, wondering how he always appeared when she was in danger. She fantasized about him having superpowers, perhaps being a vampire or even Superman, noting his mysteriousness, mood swings, sensitivity to smells and sounds, and tendency to exploit employees. Qi Xun suddenly appeared behind her, catching her slacking off.
He questioned her drawing of an American comic character, which she claimed was research for modern American line and color designs. He then asked if she was working for a client "with a Superman fetish." He then asked about her Macro Design presentation, telling her to focus on her work. Qi Xun and Director Du successfully secured a new project. A client complimented them, saying they "match each other perfectly."
However, Qi Xun remained distant from Director Du, and on the way home, despite Director Du offering him food from the dinner they had, he only thought of buying Shuangshuang's favorite tempura, especially after receiving a somewhat suggestive text from her. Director Du, who had worked with Qi Xun since university and never seen him act so strangely, confronted him about bringing Shuangshuang into the company.
She questioned if Shuangshuang was an "accident of blessing or disaster" and if Qi Xun was texting her, urging him to consider the dedicated MIST employees. Qi Xun admitted that Shuangshuang was an "accident" and that he kept her to "verify something." He confessed that the verification had "failed" but defended Shuangshuang as someone who genuinely wanted to work hard. Director Du, appreciating hard work, agreed not to "deny anyone's hard work for my own benefits."
As a concession, she proposed that Shuangshuang present her landscape conceptualization project to the sponsors in two days, and that presentation would determine her future at the company. As Qi Xun prepared to leave, Director Du asked how he knew she had driven that day. He casually replied that her car's new air freshener smelled better than before, demonstrating his keen senses. Qi Xun later found Shuangshuang working late in the private library.
He reviewed her design drafts, criticizing them as "childish" and instructing her to "redo it," implying she should move beyond "low-level comics." Despite the critique, Shuangshuang, who believed "childish can be special too," remained cheerful, even asking if she could avoid redoing it if she was unhappy, to which Qi Xun responded with a firm "No." He then reminded her that the upcoming presentation was crucial and to prepare well, leaving the tempura he had bought for her.
Director Du observed Shuangshuang happily eating the tempura. Shuangshuang took her upcoming presentation seriously, practicing her speech with Kun Lan, who helped her refine her points about cartoon sculpting's emphasis on simple lines, youthful aesthetics, and its environmentally friendly use of recycled materials. Meanwhile, office gossip circulated after Director Du removed her joint photos with Qi Xun.
Some speculated Qi Xun was now with Shuangshuang, abandoning Director Du, who famously sacrificed an offer from OMA, the world's top firm, to join MIST. Director Du, overhearing the chatter, curtly reminded everyone to focus on their work and to gossip where she couldn't hear them. On the day of the presentation, Shuangshuang, having rushed out and forgotten her USB drive, had to quickly retrieve it from Kun Lan's house. During her presentation, her computer suddenly crashed.
As she struggled, other employees began gossiping loudly about her, accusing her of being a "vixen" who used connections to get into the company. The clients, visibly annoyed by the unprofessionalism, dismissed her presentation as "boring." A mortified Shuangshuang repeatedly apologized to Director Du and Qi Xun for the disastrous outcome.
Episode 7 Recap
Shuangshuang was consumed by guilt, feeling she had let many people down. Although Bai Fang tried to comfort her, reminding her that it wasn't her fault, Shuangshuang couldn't shake the feeling of culpability. Qi Xun, however, offered no comfort. Instead, he sharply criticized her, accusing her of screwing up a simple project presentation because her attention was focused on men, or perhaps because she took his trust for granted and didn't take her work seriously.
He even speculated if she was thinking about the man she lived with. Deeply hurt by Qi Xun's words and his perception of her, Shuangshuang angrily left. Director Du, who witnessed the exchange, interjected, telling Qi Xun that Shuangshuang had performed well and he shouldn't blame her. Back in his office, Qi Xun replayed his harsh words and felt a pang of guilt. He silently apologized and wondered if he had made Shuangshuang cry.
But then, he rationalized that he needn't worry, as someone else would surely comfort her. Indeed, Kun Lan found Shuangshuang and, seeing her smile, was relieved. He asked if she was hungry and suggested they go out to eat. Meanwhile, Qi Tian, prompted by a dream, took Shi Lang to a restaurant, hoping to find Kun Lan there.
Shi Lang, initially confused why Qi Tian chose a couples' spot for their outing, soon realized Qi Tian's true intention was to find Kun Lan there. After being told the restaurant was fully booked, Qi Tian was disappointed to realize Kun Lan wasn't there. Shi Lang, trying to cheer her up, offered to take her somewhere else for good food. Kun Lan and Shuangshuang, meanwhile, were at a restaurant with Mouton Rothschild wine.
Kun Lan noticed Shuangshuang was eating very fast, and Shuangshuang admitted that when she was in a bad mood, she tended to gobble down food quickly without much chewing. That evening, Director Du sat with Qi Xun at a restaurant, trying to engage him, asking why he never smiled, noting he looked good when he did. However, Qi Xun remained distant, having no appetite because of Shuangshuang.
Shuangshuang, meanwhile, was getting tipsy with Kun Lan but insisted she wasn't drunk and wanted more alcohol. She asked for black tea, but Kun Lan urged her to go home if she wanted to drink more, offering to pay the bill. Shuangshuang refused, and a tipsy Shuangshuang later encountered a visibly upset Director Du in the restaurant bathroom. They recognized each other from a previous "cut the line" incident and began to bicker.
Director Du declared herself the most hardworking person in the world. Shuangshuang, in turn, proclaimed herself "philosophy," at the "top of the food chain for thoughts," caring not for others' opinions. Director Du countered that she was "mathematics," the stable "rule" of the world. Shuangshuang jokingly expressed her childhood fear of math and how Director Du's face scared her.
Director Du, however, loved mathematics because it was unchanging and provided clear answers, unlike Qi Xun, for whom her efforts seemed futile. She then announced her decision to leave Qi Xun and take on a project far away. Shuangshuang, still tipsy, enthusiastically declared she would join her. They made a pinky promise to go together, walking out of the restaurant arm-in-arm and complaining about Qi Xun, with Shuangshuang humorously calling Qi Xun an "arrogant dog."
The next morning, Qi Xun, arriving at the office, asked his assistant about Shuangshuang, only to learn that she had left on a business trip with Director Du to assist with the hotel project. They were already on their way. Elsewhere, Qi Tian was waiting in a park, hoping to see Kun Lan as in her dream. Shi Lang was with her, observing her eager anticipation.
Meanwhile, Shuangshuang was in a car with Director Du, recalling Qi Xun's harsh words from the day before. Her colleagues were discussing the hotel project, a "super case" to convert an old site, previously a medical camp and then an orphanage, into a five-stars manor. They praised Director Du for successfully securing the project, which other companies had abandoned due to the client's "captious demands." They also mentioned another project, the Qilin Art Gallery, which Qi Xun had secured.
News of a 70% discount for MIST employees at the future Michelin three-star hotel excited everyone. The conversation then subtly turned to a critique of those without a professional design background or works, clearly aimed at Shuangshuang, who had to endure the veiled insults. Later, Director Du took Shuangshuang to a hot spring. Director Du bluntly stated her dislike for Shuangshuang, warning her not to presume closeness just because they had shared a drink.
Shuangshuang acknowledged Director Du's dislike but admitted she admired her. She recalled seeing Director Du fearlessly express her ideas to Qi Xun on their first meeting, wishing she could be as confident, but confessed it was hard for her to reveal her true thoughts to others. Director Du, maintaining her professional demeanor, reiterated her separation of business and personal matters. She acknowledged Shuangshuang's good performance in the previous presentation despite its imperfect outcome.
However, she issued a stern warning: Qi Xun had been acting unusually since Shuangshuang's arrival. She stressed Qi Xun's importance to MIST and to her personally, advising Shuangshuang to keep her distance if she had no genuine interest in him or harbored other intentions. Shuangshuang then asked if Director Du liked Qi Xun, to which Director Du responded by referring to her past actions for him, implying the answer was obvious.
Director Du then gave Shuangshuang ten minutes to meet her in the lobby. Shuangshuang was surprised to find herself assigned to share a room with a gossipy colleague, who had mistakenly thought she had a spacious room all to herself because the hotel was fully booked. The colleague immediately began prying into Shuangshuang's personal life.
She commented on Shuangshuang's old bag, wondering why her rich "boyfriend" hadn't bought her a new one, referencing Kun Lan who had delivered hotpot in a luxury car. Shuangshuang clarified that Kun Lan was just a friend, not a rich businessman or her boyfriend. Undeterred, the colleague then brazenly asked about Shuangshuang's relationship with Qi Xun, wondering if they were secretly involved.
Annoyed by the incessant questioning, Shuangshuang firmly stated that she was at the hotel for work, had no obligation to disclose her privacy to satisfy gossip, and asked her colleague to stop speculating. She then retreated to the living room to rest alone. The next day, the team embarked on a survey of the old site.
They encountered a deaf old woman, and Shuangshuang, out of curiosity, quietly followed her, becoming separated from her colleagues who then unintentionally left her behind. Back in his office, Qi Xun saw a red alert for thunder storm and worried about the hotel project. He tried calling Shuangshuang's phone, but it was unavailable. He then called Director Du, asking about Shuangshuang's whereabouts. Director Du was also unaware, as she believed Shuangshuang had boarded the bus with everyone else. Realizing Shuangshuang was missing, Qi Xun became alarmed and attempted to use his supernatural ability to go to the hotel, but for unknown reasons, his ability failed.
Episode 8 Recap
The severe thunder and magnetic field disruptions prevented Qi Xun from teleporting, so he quickly called his assistant, Ai, to send him a photo of the hotel's location. Arriving near the site, he encountered Director Du, who informed him that the mountain roads to the hotel were closed due to a red storm alert, making it impossible to go up. Qi Xun, desperate to find Shuangshuang, demanded the car keys.
Director Du protested, reminding him that he couldn't drive and it was too dangerous. Qi Xun insisted that he was responsible for Shuangshuang and would go himself. Director Du warned him that if anything happened to him, MIST Construction would lose all meaning to her, and she would sell it to his most hated rival, just to spite him.
Unfazed, Qi Xun told her to take care of MIST if he didn't return, then got into the car, his mind flooded with painful memories as he started driving up the dangerous mountain road. Meanwhile, Shuangshuang, oblivious to the raging storm, was at the old hotel site, sifting through drawers and lighting candles, humming along to music through her headphones. Qi Xun eventually found her, calling out her name in relief. Seeing her small figure, he embraced her tightly.
Shuangshuang, startled, asked how he got there and if he came alone, expressing worry about landslides in such heavy rain. Qi Xun, ignoring her questions, scolded her for not returning with her colleagues, stressing how worried he and the company were. Shuangshuang explained she had followed an old granny, and when she turned back, everyone was gone. She added that there was no signal to call him.
Hearing that she had tried to call him brought a hint of joy to Qi Xun, but he quickly covered it up, claiming he was merely seeking shelter from the rain as there was a new project nearby. The conversation then turned to the old granny. Shuangshuang recounted that the old hotel site owner didn't want to demolish the old bridge, a request conveyed by Miss Lin, who was hosting them.
However, Director Du had cited high renovation costs and budget constraints as reasons for its demolition. Shuangshuang shared her own perspective, explaining that for an old granny with Alzheimer's, lingering so long and frequently visiting the bridge meant it held deep, precious memories for her. She proposed that instead of demolishing it, the bridge could be preserved within the hotel’s future plans, imbued with a small story to add a touch of artistic charm, drawing in tourists.
Qi Xun commended her idea, noting that while her talent for drawing and observation was innate, her biggest flaw was underestimating herself and hiding her true thoughts. He praised her ability to find unique solutions where others only saw difficulties. Shuangshuang was delighted by his compliments, finally understanding her strengths through his words. The tender moment was interrupted when Shuangshuang, fetching some dry clothes for Qi Xun, tripped while going downstairs.
In a flash, Qi Xun teleported to her side, catching her before she fell. Shuangshuang was astonished, wondering how he had appeared so quickly. After she calmed down, Qi Xun promised to explain. She excitedly speculated if he was Batman, listing his traits: eavesdropping skills, picky eating, appearing and disappearing at will, and being rich. Qi Xun corrected her, stating he was a "patient," explaining that he and Qi Tian were normal people but with differences.
He clarified that while most people perceive those with superpowers as invincible, in reality, they are often more vulnerable, as a gift of power often comes with a significant cost. He explained that his ability allowed him to instantly teleport to any place he had seen or had a photo of, but severe weather like thunder and magnetic field disruptions could interfere with his power, which was why he couldn't teleport earlier and had to drive.
To illustrate, he drew two points on a piece of paper, showing how normal travel is linear, but by folding the paper, the two points became overlaid, demonstrating "space folding." He added that Qi Tian's ability was different. Qi Xun revealed that using his powers heightened all his senses a hundredfold, an intensity a normal person could never comprehend, which Shuangshuang remarked sounded lonely.
He then explained Qi Tian's power of clairvoyance, which, while seemingly powerful, came at the cost of a shortened life. Shuangshuang was distressed, asking if there was any way to help her. Qi Xun told her that only a legendary healer could save Qi Tian, but finding one would be incredibly difficult. Shuangshuang, moved, declared her resolve to help him, insisting it was her turn to repay him for all the times he had saved her.
Overwhelmed by her sincerity, Qi Xun kissed her. That night, Shuangshuang peacefully slept on his arm, and Qi Xun, unable to move, let her drool on his sleeve. The next morning, before Shuangshuang woke, Qi Xun briefly encountered the old deaf granny. When Shuangshuang awoke, she meticulously drew a renovation plan for the old bridge. Later, she showed her drawing to the granny, who, deeply moved, repeatedly murmured, "He is back."
The manager of the place, a woman who had grown up there as an orphan, then revealed the granny's poignant love story. The granny was once a volunteer teacher who fell in love with a soldier. He would always wait for her on the bridge while she taught, but when the warfare intensified, he was called to battle. They parted on that very bridge, promising his return, but he never came back. The granny had spent her entire life waiting.
The manager herself had returned to say goodbye to the orphanage, her childhood home, before its conversion into a hotel. Shuangshuang, touched by the story, offered her drawing to the granny through the manager. The manager, remarking on Shuangshuang's thoughtfulness and adorableness, urged Qi Xun to treat her well. Qi Xun playfully dismissed it, saying Shuangshuang was "just silly," and they departed down the mountain.
Back at MIST Construction, during a meeting about the site survey results, Qi Xun, to everyone's surprise, declared that the footbridge could not be demolished, contradicting the initial plans. He instructed the team to find a way to better highlight its significance. Later, Director Du approached Qi Xun in his office, not about the project, but to inform him that Shuangshuang had passed her test and would remain in her department.
She then sincerely apologized for the incident on the mountain, admitting her mistake. Qi Xun, though, responded that it wasn't entirely her fault and that it was all in the past.
Episode 9 Recap
Shuangshuang, struggling with her mechanics studies, sent a message to her boss, Qi Xun, lamenting, "Boss, I am dying from studying the mechanics." She then wondered if he was asleep when he didn't reply. However, just as she put the book back on the shelf, Qi Xun suddenly appeared before her, making her exclaim in surprise. He asked her, "Why are you here?" to which she replied, "You asked me to come here." Shuangshuang denied it, but he insisted.
Qi Xun then prompted her, "So, what is the problem?" However, Shuangshuang, captivated by his presence, couldn't remember her question. Later, talking to her friends, she sweetly and cautiously asked, "What does it feel like to have a boyfriend with super power?" The next morning, as Shuangshuang debated how to face Qi Xun, he opened his door just as she was about to knock, greeting her with, "Why did you come here so early?"
She happily replied, "I am here to see you." Shuangshuang confided in Qi Xun, telling him how much she missed him since returning from her trip. She wanted to confirm their relationship was real and not just a casual fling, questioning if he had truly rushed to save her without a second thought during their previous predicament. Qi Xun reassured her, saying he didn't understand her lack of self-confidence, but affirmed that everything was real when he was with her.
Moved, Shuangshuang kissed him, explaining it was to mark her territory and declare her claim on their relationship. Qi Xun then affectionately lifted her onto the bed, asking if she was certain now. She nodded, confirming her feelings, and they shared a passionate moment. Later that evening, as they watched a silent film, which Qi Xun loved and insisted wasn't boring, Shuangshuang eventually dozed off in his arms.
Qi Xun playfully asked if she wanted him to cuddle her, but she found it too hot, so he gently held her hand as she slept. The next day, while eating ice cream, Shuangshuang requested another serving, but Qi Xun refused, worried she would catch a cold. He warned her not to ask again, or he wouldn't buy her any more. Despite her pleas, he remained firm.
When Qi Xun went to get another ice cream for Shuangshuang, the last one was already sold to a rude man. Qi Xun offered double the price, but the man scoffed at his money and threatened him for staring. Using his superpowers, Qi Xun subtly retrieved the ice cream and presented it to a delighted Shuangshuang. Later, as they left a store to go shopping, a clerk called out, "Sir, excuse me. Your wife left her phone here."
Hearing "your wife" made both of them blush and smile. In a jewelry store, while Shuangshuang admired some accessories, Qi Xun asked her which one she liked. She declared, "None of them. I only like you." Their public displays of affection earned them an exasperated comment from another customer about their "dog food." Meanwhile, Kun Lan met with Director Du, requesting that Shuangshuang be appointed as the lead designer for his new studio project.
He insisted on having no one but Shuangshuang. Director Du eventually agreed. Back at the office, Shuangshuang was immediately bombarded by colleagues, who had heard rumors about her and Qi Xun, asking if she was in a relationship with him. She repeatedly denied it, saying they were "just common friends." Qi Xun, having overheard this, was clearly bothered and pulled Shuangshuang away, questioning her, "Who is your common friend?"
Shuangshuang explained that she didn't mean to say 'just common friends', but he retorted that he only listened to her. He then asked her how she would introduce him to others in the future. While at a flower shop with Shi Lang, Qi Tian suddenly fainted, causing great concern. Shi Lang immediately rushed her to Qi Xun's company.
Qi Xun, worried, scolded both Qi Tian for "weird business" and Shi Lang for taking her out, warning him not to do so again. Shuangshuang pointed out that Qi Tian wasn't allergic to pollen, to which Qi Xun replied that something felt wrong with her. He instructed Shuangshuang to get some water, cutting her off when she tried to mention paying for the flowers, prioritizing Qi Tian's well-being.
Back at the company, Kun Lan was discussing the contract with Director Du when Shuangshuang arrived. Her colleagues were happy to see Kun Lan, noting he had brought more snacks, but Shuangshuang was confused by his presence. Qi Tian, who had briefly recovered, joyfully ran to Kun Lan, but Qi Xun quickly told Shi Lang to take Qi Tian home, despite her protests. Shuangshuang expressed her confusion about being appointed as the chief designer for Kun Lan's project.
Kun Lan, however, affirmed his decision, stating the contract was already signed. Qi Xun, unhappy, demanded that he be included in the project to guide and supervise Shuangshuang, directly announcing this to Kun Lan. Kun Lan vehemently disagreed, arguing that Qi Xun's intervention would restrict Shuangshuang's development, calling it a "birdcage" that would prevent her from showcasing her talent. He declared he would accept any design Shuangshuang produced. Qi Xun, fueled by jealousy, retorted, "My cage, and my decision.
A sparrow has no right to talk." After the tense meeting, Qi Xun presented Shuangshuang with a drawing he had made. She complimented it, saying it looked like him, and she agreed before they left together. While Kun Lan later sent a message to Shuangshuang, having prepared a delicious dinner and waiting for her at home, she didn't reply to his messages or answer his calls, leaving him to regret not picking her up from work.
Instead, Shuangshuang and Qi Xun were at his home, working on design drafts. Qi Tian, Qi Xun's sister, caught Shuangshuang secretly admiring Qi Xun. Qi Tian was curious about what her brother was drawing, but Qi Xun, focused on adjusting company drafts, sent her back to bed. He then offered to make Shuangshuang something to eat, and she happily followed him into the kitchen.
Episode 10 Recap
Upon receiving a call from Zhazha, Kun Lan learned that Shuangshuang was at Qi Xun's house. He promptly arrived, bringing his luggage, indicating his resolve to stay. Qi Xun, though frustrated, tried to discuss design plans seriously with Shuangshuang. Every time Shuangshuang approached Kun Lan, Qi Xun would call her back, pointing out issues in her designs.
Qi Xun critiqued a design, noting that while the composition and plan were good, Shuangshuang forgot to account for noise insulation, as the surrounding area was still under construction. He said the "little guy" would suffer from noise every day, a comment he seemed to enjoy. Kun Lan, annoyed by their closeness, muttered from the side. Eventually, Qi Xun used the design drawing to block Kun Lan's view and kissed Shuangshuang. Embarrassed, Shuangshuang excused herself to go to bed.
Qi Xun attempted to follow her upstairs, but Kun Lan stopped him, leading to a physical altercation between the two men. Meanwhile, Feng's father was seeking his hidden painting when he was intercepted by He Zhengchang, who demanded to know Xun Xue's whereabouts. Feng's father claimed no knowledge of Xun Xue, prompting He Zhengchang to beat him unconscious. He Zhengchang then abandoned Feng's father and consumed a self-prepared medication.
As the drug took effect, he drank some water and looked at photos on a wall, vowing revenge against those responsible for his brother's death and his own illness. He Zhengchang's brother found Xun Xue and was overjoyed, believing she could save them both. However, Xun Xue stated that she was unable to cure either of them, no matter how much He's brother pleaded.
He Zhengchang questioned why his brother was begging others, but his brother, whose thirty-year-old appearance had aged drastically, insisted that he would do anything to save Zhengchang. He was determined that Zhengchang should live a normal life, reaching forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, and eighty, eventually dying peacefully in a warm bed, unlike their father or himself, who suffered undeservedly. He Zhengchang claimed not to care, but his brother firmly stated that he did.
The next morning, Qi Tian awoke to find Kun Lan asleep on the sofa. Shuangshuang then entered the living room, and the two girls took photos of Qi Xun and Kun Lan embracing each other in their sleep. Qi Xun, mistaking Kun Lan for Shuangshuang, hugged him even tighter. When they finally woke up, both were shocked and began yelling.
Kun Lan called Qi Xun a "rascal" and threatened to tell Shuangshuang, but Qi Xun saw the photos on the table and realized Shuangshuang already knew. During breakfast, chaos ensued as Qi Xun and Kun Lan continued to compete for Shuangshuang's attention. Qi Tian, who had been asking for more food, got into a small argument with Kun Lan.
Later, Shuangshuang received a phone call from the hospital's emergency room, informing her that her father, Feng Yun, had been injured and she needed to come immediately. Upon arriving, Shuangshuang learned that her father only had a minor leg injury and could be discharged in a few days. Unable to cover the medical expenses, she called Kun Lan for help. Kun Lan rushed to the hospital without asking for details.
Shuangshuang, distressed, told him about her father's accident and expressed her worry about what to say when he woke up. Kun Lan offered to see her father first. While waiting outside, Shuangshuang received a message from Qi Xun, informing her that he would take a leave of absence for her. When Kun Lan emerged, he told Shuangshuang that her father had woken up and wished to see her.
He reassured her that Feng Yun was weak and would not harm her. Shuangshuang cautiously entered the room, keeping her distance. Feng Yun admitted his past harsh treatment, claiming it was his only way to protect her, and expressed his exhaustion and desire to reconcile and start a new life. He formally asked for her forgiveness and if she would live with him again.
Shuangshuang was conflicted, unprepared for such a request, and worried that he might not be sincere, fearing a return to the past where he would again restrict her freedom. Kun Lan, outside the room, encouraged her not to rush her decision. He explained that parents also learn and grow, and despite past communication issues, he believed her father loved her deeply.
Shuangshuang recounted a strange moment on the night she ran away, when she felt a sudden urge to flee while looking at her drunk father, despite never hating him for locking her up as a child, only feeling fear and helplessness. She wondered why he had brought her into the world if she was a burden. Kun Lan advised her to follow her heart, as time would eventually reveal the answer.
He Zhengchang arrived at Feng Yun's hospital room again, and Feng Yun insisted on leaving with him. Despite the nurse's attempts to stop him due to the lack of family authorization, and Shuangshuang and Kun Lan's presence, Feng Yun vehemently told them they needed to leave, especially upon learning it was the private hospital of the Kun's, calling it a place of "death." He pushed Kun Lan away, accusing the Kun family of being evil.
Shuangshuang grew angry, accusing her father of breaking his promise of a fresh start and again disregarding her wishes. She tearfully recounted her childhood, being locked in a closet, learning to be self-sufficient at a young age, and being physically punished for resisting him. She questioned why he kept her if he viewed her as a burden. Overwhelmed, Shuangshuang ran away and found Qi Xun, clinging to him for comfort and protection.
Episode 11 Recap
Kun Lan visited Feng Yun, who was still recovering in the hospital, hoping to understand Feng Yun's feelings for Shuangshuang. Feng Yun remained distrustful of Kun Lan and the Kun family, reminding Kun Lan that his grandfather had once promised to protect Xun Xue, only for her to be tragically burned to death under their care. He found it ridiculous that Kun Lan now pledged to protect Shuangshuang.
Kun Lan acknowledged the Kun family's grave mistake, explaining that his grandfather still lived with profound guilt and regret. He pleaded with Feng Yun to believe in him, promising to shield Shuangshuang from further harm and a life of constant evasion. Kun Lan argued it would be cruel to disrupt Shuangshuang's newfound stable life, where she thrives in a job she loves, gains recognition, and works hard to grow stronger.
Convinced by Kun Lan's sincerity, especially after Kun Lan showed him photos depicting Shuangshuang's current happiness and resilience, Feng Yun reluctantly agreed to trust him, but warned him that their past issues were not forgotten, and Shuangshuang's life was now in Kun Lan's hands, not Kun Tai's. Meanwhile, Qi Xun and Shuangshuang walked by the sea. Shuangshuang asked if Qi Xun often visited the spot, to which he replied he came when he needed to think.
She then inquired about his parents. Qi Xun revealed they had died in a car accident when he was fifteen, a memory that left him with a deep-seated fear of driving, unlike his younger sister Qi Tian whose memories were vaguer. Realizing how much Qi Xun had endured and how much he had cared for her, Shuangshuang hugged him, apologizing for her previous lack of concern.
Qi Xun, in turn, expressed regret for misjudging her, admitting that despite her outwardly carefree demeanor, Shuangshuang was sensitive and often kept her feelings hidden. He vowed to protect her, deeply touching Shuangshuang. Later, Kun Lan and Shuangshuang went to pick up Feng Yun from the hospital. Shuangshuang's relationship with her father was still strained, and she was hesitant about living with him.
As they left, He Zhengchang watched them, his thoughts consumed by memories of his ailing brother, who had spoken of a chosen burial site and sought Xun Xue's help before his death. These recollections fueled He Zhengchang's burning hatred for Feng Yun and Shuangshuang. Feng Yun asked Shuangshuang about her living situation and, upon learning she was staying at Kun Lan's house, proposed an exchange: he would live upstairs with Shuangshuang, and Kun Lan would move downstairs.
Kun Lan readily agreed. While Feng Yun slept, Shuangshuang discovered old hairpins and a cherished childhood sketchbook in his bag, a poignant reminder of their past. When Feng Yun woke, Shuangshuang tearfully apologized for dwelling on his shortcomings, realizing they shared many happy memories. Feng Yun also admitted his mistakes, explaining that his strictness and constant moving were out of a desperate fear that she would be harmed by bad people, which inadvertently made her childhood harder.
Tian Tian showed Kun Lan two bouquets of flowers. She felt a pang of sadness, thinking that in her brother's eyes, perhaps only Shuangshuang mattered, and that no one truly appreciated the flowers' beauty. Later, as Kun Lan and Shuangshuang spent time together, Shuangshuang commented on Kun Lan's good looks, wondering why he didn't have a girlfriend. Kun Lan responded that he only cared if the "person next to me" liked him.
He then presented her with VIP tickets to an amusement park, a surprise for her birthday, which he had planned. They enjoyed themselves greatly, but the celebration was cut short when Qi Xun called Shuangshuang on her phone, claiming an urgent project issue required her to meet him at the gallery. Kun Lan, understanding it was work-related, offered to drive her. Meanwhile, Tian Tian and Shi Lang went to a wedding dress shop.
Shi Lang mistakenly believed Tian Tian's intention was a romantic one, while Tian Tian was simply enjoying trying on various dresses. Shuangshuang arrived at the gallery, expecting a work emergency, only to find Qi Xun sketching. He playfully teased her, prompting Shuangshuang to call him a "crafty jerk" and a "villain," which Qi Xun, amused, accepted. He then presented her with his sketchbook, inviting her to pick any place she liked, promising to take her there.
Shuangshuang chose a romantic bridge, and with a swift teleport, they were there. On the bridge, Shuangshuang shared her love for reading, revealing her knowledge of astronomy and her belief that the sun was merely one of the countless stars in the magnificent galaxy. Qi Xun playfully chided her, but Shuangshuang, unfazed, challenged him to teleport them to the galaxy. Qi Xun teased her about not understanding gravity, prompting Shuangshuang to playfully feign annoyance and sit apart.
With a mischievous grin, Qi Xun instantly appeared beside her, wishing her "Happy birthday" and presenting her with a gift before they shared another kiss. Shuangshuang then wished to visit an underwater world, but Qi Xun's next teleport landed them in a bustling public hot spring. Apologizing for the mishap, Qi Xun offered to try again, but Shuangshuang decided to enjoy the unexpected bath.
Separately, Kun Lan's investigation into Feng Yun's injury revealed that Feng Yun had been hurt while trying to reclaim his paintings from an art dealer named Lu Jinbiao, who had fraudulently sold them all after promising to help Feng Yun.
Episode 12 Recap
Tian Tian, having bought a wedding dress, reflected on the sweet romance between her brother and Shuangshuang. She envisioned a future where she, healthy and beautiful, would stand before Kun Lan as his bride, believing that all her dreams would eventually come true, no matter how long it took. Meanwhile, Kun Lan visited Feng Yun, who was deeply worried about Shuangshuang.
Feng Yun noted it was Shuangshuang's birthday and she wasn't with Kun Lan, expressing his concern and suggesting they go find her immediately. Later, as Qi Xun and Shuangshuang were about to part ways, Qi Xun presented her with a puppy-shaped coin purse.
He explained that since she often playfully called him a "noble dog" and loved to wander, the purse, filled with various cards for coffee, beauty/SPA, clothes, banking, supermarkets, libraries, cinemas, credit, and shopping, would ensure she could handle any situation even when he wasn't by her side. Touched by his thoughtfulness, Shuangshuang hugged him for an extended moment. Their embrace was witnessed by Feng Yun, who had arrived with Kun Lan. Qi Xun boldly introduced himself as Shuangshuang's boyfriend.
Although initially cold, Feng Yun instructed Shuangshuang, Qi Xun, and Kun Lan to accompany him. As they walked, Qi Xun and Kun Lan couldn't help but engage in their usual playful bickering. At a hotpot dinner celebrating Shuangshuang's birthday, Qi Xun apologized to Feng Yun for not visiting sooner. Feng Yun, recognizing Qi Xun as the owner of MIST, questioned if he wasn't busy enough as a boss, implying he was taking advantage of his employee.
Shuangshuang deftly diffused the tension by asking for vinegar. While Kun Lan went to get it, Qi Xun swiftly took the seat next to Shuangshuang. When Kun Lan returned, he had no choice but to sit opposite them, and their rivalry continued. They even bickered in the washroom, with Qi Xun threatening to hack Kun Lan's company computers if he mentioned a past incident again.
Back at the table, Kun Lan inquired about Feng Yun's conflict with the art dealer, Lu Jinbiao. Feng Yun recounted how Lu Jinbiao, who had initially helped him, had later stolen his paintings, including one precious oil painting of a lady by a lake that held profound personal significance. Feng Yun expressed his determination to retrieve it. Both Kun Lan and Qi Xun, seeing an opportunity to gain Feng Yun's favor, abruptly excused themselves, rushing off to find the painting.
Feng Yun was surprised by their sudden, albeit competitive, unity. When Feng Yun later asked Shuangshuang which of the two men she preferred, she affectionately told him she liked him the most. As Feng Yun and Shuangshuang headed home, she asked him why that particular painting was so important. Feng Yun explained it was the only portrait he had ever dared to paint of her mother before her passing, a challenging endeavor due to her unique beauty.
Shuangshuang then asked about her mother's appearance, to which Feng Yun responded that she was beautiful, just like Shuangshuang, with sparkling, dancing eyes, and that both of them were gifts from God. He also confessed his greatest regret was failing to protect her mother and that he had promised to keep Shuangshuang safe. Qi Xun and Kun Lan, despite their rivalry, worked in tandem to locate Lu Jinbiao.
Using their respective connections, they tracked him down and overheard him on a phone call issuing threats regarding Feng Yun's paintings and demanding money. They confronted Lu Jinbiao, tied him up, and, after some playful torment that involved tickling, he revealed the painting was in his car. Qi Xun retrieved the artwork. Upon seeing the woman in the portrait, Qi Xun was stunned, recognizing her as the same woman he had seen during his parents' fatal car accident years ago.
He immediately used his teleportation ability to appear at Shi Lang's house, demanding that he quickly identify the woman in the painting. Meanwhile, Kun Lan, searching the warehouse in vain, realized Qi Xun had taken the painting. He also had a profound realization: if Xun Xue, Shuangshuang's mother, was a healer, then Shuangshuang must be the next in line, and the lake painting Shuangshuang drew in the gallery held significant meaning.
He rushed to Shuangshuang, urgently telling her that Qi Xun had stolen her father's painting and they needed to get it back, without providing further explanation. At home, Tian Tian, having purchased a wedding dress and dreaming of her future with Kun Lan, used her ESP to glimpse ahead. She witnessed a tearful Kun Lan standing before a tombstone engraved with "Here Lies Qi Tian," realizing he was mourning her death. Distraught, she fainted and fell into the swimming pool.
Luckily, Kun Lan and Shuangshuang arrived and quickly rescued her. Shuangshuang performed artificial respiration, using her healing abilities to revive Tian Tian. However, the exertion was too great, and Shuangshuang collapsed, unconscious. Qi Xun arrived at that moment, witnessing Shuangshuang's dire state. He now understood the grave truth: Shuangshuang, as a healer, could save his sister, but at the potential cost of her own life.
Episode 13 Recap
Shuangshuang slowly regained consciousness, feeling as if she had woken from many confusing dreams she couldn't quite recall. Her father asked if she remembered how she fainted, but Shuangshuang could only recall Tiantian collapsing by the pool. Her father immediately forbade her from leaving the house and avoided answering her questions about Tiantian's condition, stating he would get her food and she should rest. Concerned, Shuangshuang called Qi Xun, who hesitated before answering.
She mentioned her confusing dreams and again inquired about Tiantian, suggesting she needed more exercise as she was "so weak." Qi Xun quickly diverted the conversation, telling her he missed her and wanted a video call. Shuangshuang reassured him, saying, "No matter what happens, I will always stay by your side," to which he affectionately called her "silly," and she responded, "Where am I silly? I'm clearly cute." Their intimate call ended with reluctance.
Her father entered the room, having seen her on an intimate phone call, and deeply worried about Shuangshuang getting hurt, sternly demanded she cut ties with Qi Xun. Shuangshuang, angered by his unexplained command, refused, accusing him of controlling her life without reason, just like in the past, and declared she wouldn't listen. Seeing her defiance, her father had no choice but to reveal the painful truth.
He explained that Qi Xun's interest in her was purely to save his sister, Tiantian, not out of love. Shuangshuang was shocked, but her father continued, revealing that she and her mother were both healers. He recounted how her mother, a doctor, used her unique ability to instantly cure patients by touch, which brought both immense help and dangerous attention. Desperate people, suffering from terminal illnesses, begged and even threatened her for healing.
Her father vividly described one incident involving a man named He Taichang, who pleaded for his brother, afflicted with a rare genetic disease. Due to unavoidable reasons, Shuangshuang's mother couldn't help him. In retaliation, He Taichang set their home ablaze, dragging Shuangshuang’s mother to die with him in the fire. To protect young Shuangshuang, her father concealed the truth of her mother's death, ensuring no one would transfer their ill intentions to her.
After this emotional revelation, her father left, leaving Kun Lan to further explain. Despite her disbelief, Shuangshuang remembered Qi Xun's unusual ability to teleport. Kun Lan confirmed this, explaining that his own family were guardians, sworn to protect healers like Shuangshuang and her mother. Healers, he clarified, could only heal espers, individuals whose powers came at the cost of illness and pain. Both Qi Xun and Tiantian were espers who needed her healing.
To solidify his words, Kun Lan showed Shuangshuang a photo of her childhood home, a place Qi Xun had once taken her. Recalling Qi Xun's ability to instantly appear anywhere he had seen a picture of, Shuangshuang realized Qi Xun had used this ability to take her there, testing if she was a true healer. The realization that Qi Xun had deliberately sought her out for her healing abilities, rather than for genuine affection, caused her immense pain.
She asked Kun Lan to leave, needing to be alone. Meanwhile, Qi Xun watched over Tiantian. When she awoke, Tiantian spoke of a dream where she married Kun Lan, surrounded by a three-tiered cake and all their loved ones, including Qi Xun and Shuangshuang. Qi Xun knew she was trying to comfort him and, with a heavy heart, told her to rest. Later, Kun Lan and Shuangshuang’s father discussed the impact of revealing the truth.
While her father worried about Shuangshuang’s emotional state, Kun Lan believed that hearing it from her father minimized the harm, assuring him she would eventually understand. Seeing Shuangshuang was wallowing in solitude and not eating, her father urged Kun Lan to speak with her. Shuangshuang sat by the window, lost in thought. Kun Lan asked if she still couldn't accept Qi Xun’s deception. Shuangshuang recounted her lonely childhood, constantly confined, envying other children playing games like sandbags and 'wooden man'.
She longed for someone to understand her solitude and give her answers, a void Qi Xun had filled, as he truly understood her. He was her first love, and she believed that loving someone meant trusting them, not abandoning them based solely on Kun Lan and her father's words. Despite their concerns for her safety, Shuangshuang asserted her need to find Qi Xun and hear the answers directly from him, even if it meant risking further pain.
She knew her family would worry, but she committed all her courage to this one, desperate act, believing it was the only way to calm her troubled heart. Shuangshuang then rushed off to confront Qi Xun. Unaware of her impending arrival, Qi Xun, in a drunken state with Shi Lang, was confiding his true intentions. He had a vivid dream where Shuangshuang lovingly cared for him while he was "sick," and he confessed his love, which she readily accepted.
But he awoke to the harsh reality of his situation. He confirmed to Shi Lang that he had initially pursued Shuangshuang solely to save Tiantian, and her being a healer was now an even greater advantage. Shi Lang questioned if he feared hurting Shuangshuang, to which Qi Xun dismissively responded that he would compensate her with money. Unbeknownst to them, Shuangshuang had arrived and overheard their entire conversation.
As Shi Lang noticed her, Qi Xun frantically chased after Shuangshuang, begging for an explanation. Heartbroken and enraged, Shuangshuang pushed him away. She accused him of having a hidden agenda, realizing he had orchestrated everything, from following her to "protecting" her, to lure her into his trap.
She bitterly expressed how foolish she had been to believe she was his love at first sight, an "ugly duckling" he would never genuinely fall for, and that all their shared moments were a lie. Qi Xun desperately insisted his feelings for her were real, repeatedly apologizing. However, Shuangshuang, feeling utterly betrayed and manipulated, told him that settling things with money was despicable. She concluded with a sarcastic edge, "I never thought that. . . I actually have such an amazing use." With that, Shuangshuang broke free and ran away in tears, leaving Qi Xun behind, consumed by regret and self-loathing.
Episode 14 Recap
Qi Xun felt deep regret over the misunderstanding he had caused with Shuangshuang. He sent her an apology message, but her father, unbeknownst to Shuangshuang, intercepted her phone, deleted Qi Xun's message, and ensured no further communication between them. Meanwhile, He Zhengchang visited the tomb of his elder brother, He Taichang, on his anniversary. He solemnly swore to avenge his brother, expressing his hatred for the world, himself, and those who caused his brother's agonizing death by fire.
Later, He Zhengchang met with Jian Bai, his girlfriend, at a noodle shop, where she gently reminded him to let go of his pain. He Zhengchang, however, insisted that his brother would have done more for him if their situations were reversed. Jian Bai, who works at a construction design company called MIST, then took He Zhengchang to her workplace. As the person in charge of logistics, she offered him a tour.
She led him through the design department, where He Zhengchang noticed a particularly messy desk and inquired about its occupant. Jian Bai revealed it belonged to Feng Shuangshuang, a newcomer whose unique drawings were highly regarded by their boss. She also mentioned Shuangshuang's unusual preference for a specific type of drink, a detail He Zhengchang stored away with clear intent. Qi Xun celebrated his sister Qi Tian's birthday.
Qi Tian confessed she didn't want to celebrate, but Qi Xun encouraged her, saying their parents would have wanted her to. He spoke about the difference between unavoidable pain and the necessity of finding joy, emphasizing that true healing isn't about letting go, but about moving forward. He promised Qi Tian that from now on, all her birthdays would be happy ones.
When it was time to make a wish, Qi Tian expressed her hope that Qi Xun would resolve his issues with Shuangshuang, face his own feelings, and stop worrying about her. Elsewhere, Feng's father visited his late wife Xun Xue's grave, speaking to her about his feelings. Later, Qi Xun called Shi Lang, asking him to find Shuangshuang's new address, as she had moved. Shi Lang was surprised Qi Xun didn't know but agreed to help.
Soon, Qi Xun arrived at Shuangshuang's new residence. Kun Lan intercepted him at the door, demanding to know his purpose. Qi Xun insisted he needed to speak with Shuangshuang. Kun Lan rebuffed him, stating he knew what kind of man Qi Xun was and that there was nothing to discuss. Shuangshuang's father emerged, reinforcing Kun Lan's stance.
Qi Xun tried to explain to the father that he took the painting only because the woman in it looked familiar, and he wanted to investigate, denying any ill intentions. He pleaded to speak with Shuangshuang to explain everything, but her father informed him that Shuangshuang did not want to see him. Kun Lan then asserted that Shuangshuang was not a mere tool, but the most important person to him because he was her guardian.
He warned Qi Xun that as long as he was alive, he would not allow them to meet again. Filled with regret and distress, Qi Xun found himself in a tense standoff with Kun Lan. After her shower, Shuangshuang asked her father if someone had knocked, but he lied, saying it was just a waiter. He insisted they pack immediately as they had to leave the city that very day.
Shuangshuang hesitantly mentioned needing to process her resignation at MIST, but her father was firm, explaining that staying would only lead to endless entanglement and that they needed to go somewhere no one knew them. Though heartbroken and reluctant, Shuangshuang packed her belongings, recalling cherished memories of Qi Xun while looking at his photos on her phone. Meanwhile, He Zhengchang was meticulously concocting a special beverage, which he planned to use in his scheme. He Zhengchang later infiltrated MIST.
Qi Xun was in his office, lost in thought, remembering a lighthearted moment with Shuangshuang when he teased her about reading Superman comics, and he found her flustered explanation adorable. While Qi Xun was reminiscing, He Zhengchang swiftly placed his specially prepared drink in Shuangshuang's desk drawer. Later, Shuangshuang returned to her office, discovered the drink, and, assuming it was a kind gesture from Qi Xun, happily consumed it.
He Zhengchang observed her from a distance, confirming her liking for the beverage. Once Shuangshuang departed, he subtly placed another identical drink on her desk, satisfied with his progress. Shi Lang visited Qi Xun, explaining he had a new realization: they might have been wrong to assume there was only one healer. Given that espers and healers originate from the same source, and there are multiple espers, it's logical that other healers could be hiding among ordinary people.
He suggested that if they could find another healer, Qi Xun would no longer need to put Shuangshuang at risk, and Qi Tian could still be saved. Qi Xun pondered the moral dilemma of asking a stranger to make an unknown sacrifice, even to save his sister. Shi Lang reassured him, theorizing that perhaps multiple healers could collaborate, lessening the risk for each.
He advised Qi Xun to focus on mending things with Shuangshuang while he himself would undertake the search for the next healer, teasing that he wouldn't trust Qi Xun with the task for fear he'd "fall for" another healer. Soon after, as Shi Lang had predicted, a new healer, known as Miss Fairy Tale, was introduced, calming a distressed child named Qin Ran with her soothing presence.
Episode 15 Recap
Feng Shuangshuang and her father were preparing to leave. Shuangshuang remembered she had something to give Kun Lan, so she asked her father to wait while she went to the hotel staff. She requested that a staff member pass an item to Mr. Kun Lan, who had booked their room. As they were hurrying out, Shuangshuang suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed. Her father, in a panic, called for a doctor and rushed her to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kun Lan arrived at the hotel looking for Shuangshuang and her father. He was told they had checked out the previous day. He then asked for surveillance footage of the elevator and their room. A staff member handed him a Guardian ring, which the lady from room 1107 had left for him. Elsewhere, Director Du was expressing her frustration to Qi Xun about Feng Shuangshuang's sudden disappearance.
She questioned how she was supposed to explain to clients, noting that Shuangshuang's laptop and belongings were still there, but she was gone. Director Du emphasized that it was the first time an MIST employee had left without notice and demanded a reasonable explanation, reminding Qi Xun that MIST was not a place where one could come and go as they pleased. Just then, Kun Lan arrived at Qi Xun's company and confronted him, asking where he had hidden Shuangshuang.
Qi Xun was surprised, thinking she was with Kun Lan, but Kun Lan revealed she had left him the Guardian ring and vanished, adding that she might be in danger now. Qi Xun then turned on Kun Lan, aggressively questioning why he couldn't keep an eye on her as her Guardian and boss, accusing him of lying to Shuangshuang and causing her departure. Kun Lan denied lying, calling it a misunderstanding, but Qi Xun dismissed it as a lie.
Director Du intervened, telling them to stop arguing and search for Shuangshuang. Before leaving, Qi Xun warned Kun Lan that he would not forgive him if anything happened to Shuangshuang, even if Kun Lan was her Guardian. At the hospital, He Zhengchang, disguised as a doctor, told Shuangshuang's father that they couldn't identify the potent toxin in her system, and that she might be confined to a hospital bed for the rest of her life.
He advised the father to prepare for the worst. However, the next day, Shuangshuang miraculously woke up. Doctors were astonished to find no signs of poisoning, and all her blood markers had returned to normal overnight, as if she had healed herself. Shuangshuang's father introduced her to Qin Ran, a young boy in the adjacent bed. After examining Shuangshuang, the doctors confirmed her full recovery. Shuangshuang's rapid recovery deeply puzzled He Zhengchang, who suspected Xun Xue might have visited her.
Later, Qi Xun, Kun Lan, and Shi Lang went to Shuangshuang's former rental apartment, where they encountered Brother Xin, who owned the place. Brother Xin insisted they try his new dishes, "Monk Falling Into Water Fish Against Current" and "Superior Spicy Chicken," before he would share any information. He complained that since Shuangshuang left because of them, he had no one to taste his food. Shi Lang volunteered to eat on behalf of Qi Xun and Kun Lan.
After Shi Lang diligently ate the food, Brother Xin declared that his cooking was so delicious that Shuangshuang was bound to return, suggesting they just needed to wait there daily. Qi Xun, frustrated by the unhelpful response, left angrily. Kun Lan, however, seemed to believe Brother Xin and planned to return the next day. Meanwhile, Shuangshuang found Qin Ran on the hospital rooftop, deeply upset.
He claimed his parents had abandoned him because he was dying, and his beloved Miss Fairy Tale had stopped visiting. Fearing for his safety, Shuangshuang comforted him, assuring him that Miss Fairy Tale was on her way and disliked naughty children, urging him to come down. Just as Shuangshuang spoke, Miss Fairy Tale arrived. Qin Ran happily ran to her, tearfully explaining his pain from daily injections and lack of sleep.
Miss Fairy Tale apologized for her delay, reassuring him that she was there now and he could rest. After Qin Ran fell asleep, Miss Fairy Tale introduced herself to Shuangshuang as Shen Tong, and Shuangshuang introduced herself as Feng Shuangshuang. Shuangshuang felt an uncanny sense of familiarity with Shen Tong, as if they had known each other for a long time. Shen Tong encouraged Shuangshuang to share any worries she might have.
After some hesitation, Shuangshuang confided that she had broken up with someone. She revealed her fear that Qi Xun might have been using her for her healing abilities and wondered if he was simply trying to figure out how to get rid of her after he was done, making it impossible for her to trust him. Shuangshuang was preparing to be discharged. She showed Shen Tong a photo of herself and Qi Xun.
Shen Tong asked about her next steps and offered her a spare room at her home. Shuangshuang explained that due to past events, her father was determined to take her out of the city, and whether she could stay depended on him. Shen Tong and Qin Ran bid her farewell, with Qin Ran promising to take his medicine. Qi Xun and Shi Lang were still searching for Shuangshuang, having exhausted all major hospitals.
Shi Lang speculated that healers might not need traditional medical treatment and suggested looking elsewhere. Suddenly, Qi Xun saw Qi Tian with Kun Lan. He rushed to Kun Lan's car, demanding to know why he was with his sister. Qi Tian explained that she had dreamt Shuangshuang was on the hospital rooftop with a little boy, and the dream had proven accurate. Kun Lan, in turn, quipped about Qi Xun's "big family."
Qi Xun, hearing this vital lead, immediately ordered Shi Lang to take Qi Tian home and ran towards the hospital. On their way home, Qi Tian told Shi Lang that her dreams about Kun Lan were coming true, and she hoped her dream of riding a bicycle with him would also materialize. She also confided that she dreamt someone hugged her and wished it had been Kun Lan.
Shi Lang remarked that she was torturing herself, but Qi Tian insisted she wanted to experience liking someone, even if it meant heartache. She confessed that despite many handsome and intelligent boys at school, she only thought of Kun Lan and felt happy just being in his presence. Shi Lang suggested that Kun Lan might like Shuangshuang, but Qi Tian refused to listen, reiterating that her happiness stemmed solely from her feelings for him.
Meanwhile, Qi Xun and Kun Lan encountered Shen Tong at the hospital. Kun Lan asked her if she knew Shuangshuang. Shen Tong playfully questioned how they, as Shuangshuang's friends, didn't know she had already been discharged. Kun Lan explained their complicated situation and their genuine concern, asking for any information. Qin Ran then offered to lead Kun Lan to places Shuangshuang liked, and Kun Lan followed.
Shen Tong then stopped Qi Xun, introducing herself and asking if he was Qi Xun. Qi Xun sensed something unusual about Shen Tong as she approached him, seemingly testing him, then apologized for getting close. Shen Tong then invited Qi Xun to her home at Bailu Street 88 tonight at 7 p. m. , suggesting Shuangshuang would be there. That evening, Qi Xun arrived at Bailu Street 88, calling out Shuangshuang's name. Shen Tong appeared, declaring, "I am here."
Qi Xun questioned her presence, and Shen Tong responded, "Do you like it?" She then offered him a drink, describing it as the "best wine," "a little sour with a tint of bitterness," a taste not everyone could appreciate. Qi Xun, after trying it, agreed with her assessment. Shen Tong then told him he didn't "cherish what you have" and that for her, the taste was perfect now. She then directly asked him why he liked Shuangshuang so much.
Qi Xun stated that if she had invited him merely to ask such questions, there was no point in continuing their conversation, and he prepared to leave. Shen Tong, undeterred, continued to question his affection for Shuangshuang, calling her "so ordinary."
Episode 16 Recap
He Zhengchang finally reveals to Jian Bai that Feng Shuangshuang is the person he has been searching for, referencing Jian Bai's work at MIST. Jian Bai questions the purpose of pursuing a truth so many years past, expressing frustration that their conversations always revolve around this topic. He Zhengchang pleads with her to help. Though initially hesitant and stating she cannot help, Jian Bai eventually softens and agrees to find out more about Feng Shuangshuang.
At the office, colleagues gossip about Feng Shuangshuang and Qi Xun's relationship, noting Shuangshuang's prolonged absence and speculating about a fight or breakup after seeing Qi Xun's demeanor at her desk. When Qi Xun arrives, they quickly disperse. Jian Bai hands Qi Xun a file, asking him to return it to Feng Shuangshuang.
Qi Xun is visibly troubled and later discusses a childhood photo of Feng Shuangshuang and her mother with Shi Lang, remarking on a peculiar sense of familiarity, feeling it's more than just a resemblance between mother and daughter. He then receives a text from Shen Tong, inviting him to meet with the promise that he "will get what you want."
Despite his previous suspicions about Shen Tong's motives and Shi Lang's warning about her using the same old tricks, Qi Xun decides to meet her one last time. Shuangshuang meets with Shen Tong, expressing deep gratitude that Shen Tong was able to easily persuade her father, who was previously determined to make her leave, allowing him to resume his creative work and enabling Shuangshuang to stay in the city and look for a new job.
Shen Tong, acknowledging her talent for persuasion, advises Shuangshuang to confront her issues with Qi Xun if that is the reason she left her previous job. During a job interview, Shuangshuang faces degrading questions about her "mediocre" qualifications and her departure from MIST, with interviewers hinting at unethical means of entry into her former company. Director Du suddenly appears, introducing herself as a MIST co-founder, and demands Shuangshuang.
Despite the interviewers' protests that Shuangshuang is merely "mediocre" and that they have other qualified candidates, Director Du asserts that Shuangshuang, a former MIST designer, possesses talent and is worthy of being sought out by a headhunter. She then chastises Shuangshuang for enduring such humiliation at a "small office," stating her anger stems not from Shuangshuang leaving MIST, but from her self-demeaning choice to apply to an inferior company and allow herself to be "picked on."
Shuangshuang attempts to explain her "personal issues," to which Director Du responds by demanding a convincing reason that "had better not have anything to do with your little romantic affairs," implying she suspects a love story. Director Du emphasizes that MIST is not a place to be treated lightly and that she has faith in Shuangshuang's talent, urging her to take her career seriously and reflect on the kind of life she truly desires.
While Shuangshuang and Shen Tong are chatting about movies, Qi Xun abruptly appears and embraces Shuangshuang tightly, refusing to release her until she promises not to run away. Once she agrees, he lets go, then desperately tries to explain his past words, claiming they were uttered while drunk and reiterating his sincere love for her, asking for a chance to "make it right." Shen Tong interrupts, prompting Shuangshuang to introduce Qi Xun as her boss.
Qi Xun quickly interjects, correcting that he is her boyfriend. Shen Tong then comments that "this ex-boyfriend seems quite reluctant to let you go," to which Qi Xun tells her to mind her own business, clarifying that they merely had a fight, not a breakup. Despite his fervent pleas, Shuangshuang still attempts to leave with Shen Tong. Qi Xun later visits Shen Tong to thank her for helping him find Shuangshuang.
Shen Tong, however, makes an immediate proposition, suggesting he be with her since Shuangshuang has already broken up with him. Qi Xun demonstrates his teleportation ability to avoid her, which Shen Tong calmly notes is not his first "performance" in front of her. Qi Xun then explains the existence of "ESP" users like himself and "healers" capable of curing those whose lives are consumed by their special powers.
He reveals his younger sister, Qi Tian, is gravely ill because her precognition is draining her life, and he needs Shen Tong, a healer, to save her. Shen Tong agrees to help, but only under the condition that Qi Xun "stay and sleep with me."
When Qi Xun questions her, pointing out her friendship with Shuangshuang, Shen Tong states that whether she is Shuangshuang's friend or not does not affect their relationship, leaving Qi Xun utterly bewildered by her bizarre proposition. Unable to comprehend, he departs.
Qi Xun encounters Shuangshuang in the company elevator and attempts to speak with her about meeting after work, but she responds with frosty indifference, stating she only follows company orders regarding work and has no obligation to report on her personal time. He then corners her in the elevator, pinning her to explain his feelings.
He admits to initially using her to join MIST but asserts that he has since genuinely fallen in love with her, promising to find other solutions for Qi Tian. If she still cannot trust him, he declares, he will simply "try to win you back again." Shuangshuang, however, questions how she can believe his words and walks away. Shuangshuang returns to the office, where colleagues surround her with questions about her absence and her relationship with Qi Xun.
Director Du promptly summons Shuangshuang to her office and assigns her the year's most crucial project, which Director Du herself is leading. Director Du mockingly claims she wants Shuangshuang to make a mistake so she can be fired without guilt, but Shuangshuang understands this is Director Du's way of giving her a second chance. She expresses sincere gratitude, admitting that Director Du's encouragement was the reason she decided to return.
Director Du warns her that while she's getting a chance, her unauthorized absence resulted in lost salary and she must now fend for herself. Qi Tian deliberately seeks out Kun Lan on a rainy bridge, claiming to be lost and playfully suggesting she wants to find her way "inside your heart." When Kun Lan attempts to leave, Qi Tian informs him she knows Shuangshuang's location but will only reveal it if he agrees to have a meal with her first.
Kun Lan calls Shuangshuang, promising to pick her up from MIST after work for dinner to discuss recent events. Qi Tian then directly asks Kun Lan if he harbors feelings for her, given his willingness to dine with her instead of immediately going to Shuangshuang. She delivers an earnest confession, arguing that true love transcends frequent meetings and extensive conversations, needing only a brave expression of genuine feelings.
She further claims to have dreamt of them mutually loving each other, emphasizing the accuracy and eventual fulfillment of her dreams. Kun Lan, however, unequivocally rejects her advances, urging her to "wake up from that dream" and acknowledge its unreality. He then asks for his food to be packed, preparing to leave.
Episode 17 Recap
As Tian Tian and Kun Lan set out to find Shuangshuang, they encountered a setback when Tian Tian's shortcut led them into a difficult spot, stuck between two cars. Tian Tian apologized for the inconvenience. Meanwhile, Kun Lan received a call from Shuangshuang, and he apologized for his "situation," asking her to wait a moment.
Jian Bai, walking alone, found herself reminiscing about past moments with He Zhengchang, recalling how she had tended to his injuries and brought him homemade bento boxes, memories she cherished. Later, Jian Bai met with He Zhengchang, providing him with information she had gathered about Shuangshuang, along with another bento box. He Zhengchang's gaze turned chilling as he looked at a photograph of Shuangshuang.
Kun Lan eventually met with Shuangshuang, who apologized for her abrupt departure earlier, explaining she had been emotionally distraught and felt she had caused him too much trouble. Kun Lan expressed his relief at her return, admitting he had worried she might vanish from his life. Shuangshuang assured him she was doing well and could take care of herself.
She revealed that Director Du had encouraged her to return to MIST, reminding her of her professional responsibilities to her colleagues, projects, and herself. Kun Lan subtly probed, asking if her return wasn't also influenced by Qi Xun. Kun Lan then confessed that he had initially felt a sense of relief when she left Qi Xun, believing she was escaping potential danger and heartbreak. However, he realized the depth of her love for Qi Xun.
He pondered whether to watch her continue taking risks or erase what she held dear. Shuangshuang, touched, wondered why Kun Lan was always so kind and thoughtful towards her. She admitted to feeling increasingly greedy, desiring a career, friendship, and romance, questioning if anyone could truly have it all. Kun Lan then confessed his true feelings, asking if he could be the one to bring her happiness.
He spoke of his profound happiness since their first meeting and subsequent reunion, stating that his desire to protect her was not merely as a guardian, but out of genuine affection, regardless of her relationship with Qi Xun. Shuangshuang, deeply moved but uncomfortable, gently declined, causing Kun Lan to quickly lighten the mood by pretending he was only joking. Shuangshuang, relieved, cautioned him against such jokes in the future, to which he promised he wouldn't.
He reaffirmed his commitment to always be by her side, no matter what happened. While working at MIST, Shuangshuang received a parcel with her photo on it. Alarmed by the unusual package, Qi Xun rushed in, warning her not to touch it and stepping forward to open it himself. However, Shuangshuang, fearing for his safety, pushed him aside and knocked the box to the floor. Inside, they found documents.
Shuangshuang then asked Qi Xun if he wasn't afraid of danger, to which he coolly replied, "What's there to be afraid of?" Back in his office, Qi Xun discussed the incident with Shi Lang, concluding that the person who sent the parcel and took the photo must be connected to Shuangshuang. He ruled out himself and Kun Lan, suspecting Shen Tong. He inquired about Shen Tong's background check. Shi Lang reported that Shen Tong's identity was deliberately obscured and "shady."
He mentioned that Shen Tong had a deceased fiancé named Xu Yiming, and his death seemed to be connected to her. Qi Xun instructed Shi Lang to continue the investigation and to remain vigilant regarding He Zhengchang. Qi Xun later met with Shen Tong, who greeted him somewhat coquettishly, expressing anticipation for their "date" and urging him to sit closer. Qi Xun clarified that he was there to uncover certain truths and expected honest answers.
Shen Tong, however, warned him against provoking her, implying he would gain nothing if she became angry. She then revealed she knew he wanted to confirm if she was a healer and if she could save his sister, Tian Tian. After Qi Xun moved closer, Shen Tong confirmed she was indeed a healer with the ability to heal Tian Tian, but added that it "depends on your decision." Qi Xun stated that Shuangshuang was his only love.
Shen Tong dismissed his sentiment, telling him to "save that kind of stuff after your sister is healed." When Qi Xun pressed her for her exact demands, Shen Tong provocatively asked him to "kiss me," reiterating that "everything that seems wonderful always comes with a price." Shen Tong directly made a move towards Qi Xun. Qi Xun, feigning compliance, moved closer, which momentarily surprised Shen Tong.
In that brief moment of her surprise, Qi Xun firmly stated, "I can't do it," and promptly left. Zha Zha met with Kun Lan, sharing an important discovery: Shen Tong, the girl Kun Lan had met at the hospital, was a healer. He had found a file on his grandfather's desk stamped "Protection Denied" related to her. Shen Tong unexpectedly contacted Kun Lan, arranging a meeting.
She commented on Shuangshuang's "amazing" situation, being in love with Qi Xun yet living with Kun Lan, and noted Qi Xun's "generous heart." She then asked Kun Lan for a favor: to transfer a boy named Qin Ran, whom they had met at the hospital, to one of Kun's Group's top private hospitals. Qin Ran suffered from a severe congenital heart disease, and Shen Tong, short on funds, hoped Kun Lan's wealth and connections could help.
Impressed by her compassion for Qin Ran, Kun Lan readily agreed to assist, despite their lack of kinship. However, he first asked Shen Tong directly if she was a healer. Shen Tong evaded the question, remarking that he and Qi Xun were quite similar. Qi Xun, still highly concerned about Shen Tong's identity, again pressed Shi Lang for more information.
Shi Lang reiterated that Shen Tong's background remained extremely obscure, seemingly deliberately concealed, and that he had not yet found any useful leads. Qi Xun instructed him to investigate every aspect of her life, including her habits, environment, and acquaintances, until her true identity was revealed. Later, as Shuangshuang walked home alone, aware that He Zhengchang was still following her, she felt as if someone was following her. She called Kun Lan, asking him to pick her up.
Feeling increasingly uneasy, she confronted her perceived follower, yelling, "Curse you! Why are you following me?" and proceeded to hit the person several times. To her surprise, she then realized it was Qi Xun. Apologetic, Qi Xun explained he was following her to protect her.
Episode 18 Recap
Shuangshuang tenderly rubbed Qi Xun, who had been beaten by her. Qi Xun, feigning pain, saw that Shuangshuang still cared for him. He apologized repeatedly, saying his shoulder, head, and wrist hurt, asking her to rub them. Shuangshuang, realizing his act, called him childish and announced she was leaving. Qi Xun asked where she was going, and she replied home.
He then pointed out she was going to Kun Lan’s house, not her own, and said he had wanted to walk her home but she wouldn't let him, so he had to follow. Shuangshuang pleaded with him to stop provoking her, saying she couldn't understand his intentions and wondering if he was only approaching her to save Qi Tian. Qi Xun explained that he used to avoid deep connections with others, believing Qi Tian was enough for him.
However, realizing Qi Tian might not always be there, he became desperate to find a cure for her, acknowledging his extreme methods. He then confessed that after meeting Shuangshuang, his perspective changed dramatically. He began to constantly think of her, wanting to know where she was, what she was doing, and if she was happy. He admitted he initially approached her due to suspicions about her connection to healers, but then found her face and voice consuming his thoughts.
He questioned if he loved her but couldn't answer himself until the moment she decided to leave him; that was when he truly realized he had fallen in love with her. Shuangshuang, deeply moved, received a call from Kun Lan and said she was returning home, then left Qi Xun. Later, Tian Tian found Kun Lan, feeling he had something on his mind. She suspected it was about Shuangshuang but declared she didn't care, only that she liked him.
Kun Lan reiterated that they could never be together, stating they were not the same kind of people, just like him and Qi Xun. Tian Tian acknowledged this but insisted that "realistic obstacles" didn't matter. She said destiny was uncertain, and death or farewell could happen at any moment, so if they had a chance to be together, that was what truly mattered.
She asked what he would do if tomorrow were the end of the world, then vowed to follow him every day and confess her love even if he rejected her a hundred times, because being by his side was her greatest wish. Kun Lan, softened by her words, asked why she had come.
Tian Tian explained she wanted to ask him out but needed to schedule dates a day in advance because her brother was extremely strict, wanting to lock her up at home. Kun Lan agreed, and they sealed it with a pinky promise. Shuangshuang and Qi Xun were later seen at a roadside stall. Shuangshuang ordered liquor and dared Qi Xun to out-drink her, which he struggled with but was determined to do after confirming she wanted to reconcile.
They played games, enjoying each other’s company. As they became tipsy, Qi Xun passionately declared he cared about Shuangshuang. She slapped him playfully, then confessed she cared for him too. Briefly stunned, Qi Xun then embraced her. Shuangshuang then asked, referencing a saying about relying on parents at home, if she could rely on him when out in the world, to which Qi Xun confirmed. She asked if he preferred cats or dogs; he chose cats, and she playfully meowed.
When he asked her preference, she said dogs and barked. Tearfully, Shuangshuang repeatedly told Qi Xun she liked him. Deeply moved, Qi Xun stood up and shouted "I'm sorry" to her, over and over again. They embraced, solidifying their feelings for each other. Qi Xun then joyfully proclaimed himself the boyfriend of "Feng Shuangshuang, the most beautiful girl in the whole universe."
From a mountaintop, Qi Xun told Shuangshuang how much he missed her during their time apart, regardless of whether she missed him too. Back at his office, Qi Xun was visibly distracted, completely smitten. Shi Lang noticed Qi Xun's newfound love and asked about his absence the previous night. Qi Xun claimed he was working overtime and revealed that Shuangshuang was close to forgiving him, leading him to seek a gift for her.
Shi Lang and Tian Tian, who had just arrived, offered suggestions. Shi Lang eagerly told Tian Tian that her brother wanted advice on a gift for his future wife. Tian Tian suggested typical gifts like roses, chocolates, scarves, gloves, or jewelry like bracelets, but Qi Xun brushed her off, calling her a child who only needed a stuffed bear.
Finding no useful advice from them, Qi Xun, uncharacteristically hesitant, approached Director Du and asked her to accompany him shopping, asking for her help to pick a gift for Shuangshuang. Director Du tried on a dress that Qi Xun liked, and when she asked if it looked good, he complimented her, saying it suited her well. Director Du decided to buy it, but Qi Xun surprised her by telling her to keep it as a gift.
Director Du was taken aback by his sudden gesture, misinterpreting his intentions. The next day, Director Du and Qi Xun were in his office discussing project plans, with Qi Xun earnestly explaining design concepts for airflow and daylight. Shuangshuang walked in to find Qi Xun, saw them engrossed in conversation, and quietly retreated. Later, at Director Du's birthday celebration, she pulled Qi Xun aside, telling him she had something important to say, fearing she might never get another chance.
She reminded him they had known each other for seven years and had been through many things, implying he understood why she had stayed by his side. She confessed that while she initially believed they were just friends, his recent change in attitude had encouraged her to "give it a shot." She then confessed her deep affection for him and wondered if their relationship could evolve beyond friendship.
Qi Xun suggested they celebrate her birthday first and talk later, but Director Du pressed for an immediate answer. Qi Xun explained there was a misunderstanding and that he already had someone he liked. Director Du directly asked if it was Feng Shuangshuang, and Qi Xun confirmed it. Director Du, still unwilling to give up, questioned why Shuangshuang, whom he had only known for a short time, was better than her.
She reminded him of her unwavering presence when MIST was founded, during his late-night work sessions, and when he fell ill. Qi Xun responded that it was different. When she pressed for an explanation, he clarified that she was an excellent work partner and friend, but their relationship could not progress further. He observed that they were very much alike, both like machines that only truly lived by constantly working. He apologized, stating that two machines could not generate love. Director Du then asked why Feng Shuangshuang was different, to which Qi Xun replied sincerely, "Because she is my heart."
Episode 19 Recap
Qi Xun firmly told Director Du that their relationship could only be that of good colleagues and friends. He explained that they were both like machines, driven by work, and that two machines could never find love together. Director Du, heartbroken, asked why Feng Shuangshuang was different. Qi Xun responded sincerely, stating that Feng Shuangshuang was his heart.
He then offered Director Du a birthday present: he would leave MIST under her full management starting the next day due to personal reasons. Devastated, Director Du rejected the offer, saying she wouldn't want the company without him. Despite her sadness, she managed to try and offer him a piece of birthday cake, but Qi Xun could only apologize again.
Director Du, unable to bear the pain, left the celebration, and Feng Shuangshuang understood the truth of Qi Xun and Director Du's conversation, leaving colleagues to wonder if the two had fought. She then cried alone in the rain. Meanwhile, He Zhengchang met with Jian Bai in a car, instructing him to install a tracking device on Feng Shuangshuang's phone.
Jian Bai was hesitant, questioning He Zhengchang's extreme methods, from spyware to potential kidnapping or murder, and arguing that He Zhengchang was overstepping moral boundaries. He Zhengchang, however, retorted that he had no such "bottom-line," having been in an abyss his whole life. He recounted the three-hour fire at Xun Xue's house, emphasizing that nothing could bring his brother back or restore his own life.
Seeing He Zhengchang's deep-seated pain and desperation, Jian Bai, despite his reservations, reluctantly agreed to help him one last time. The next day, Director Du returned to work, seemingly composed despite her earlier heartbreak, impressing her colleagues who admired her as an "iron lady." When Feng Shuangshuang arrived, Director Du immediately piled on urgent project deadlines, including an inspection for the Eco Park.
Feng Shuangshuang expressed concerns about the tight schedule, but Director Du aggressively questioned her capability, suggesting someone else could take her place if she couldn't handle it. Reluctantly, Feng Shuangshuang accepted the demanding tasks. Qi Xun came to comfort Feng Shuangshuang, but he could not make her happy. Director Du then ordered everyone to participate in the Eco Park inspection, threatening resignation for anyone who refused.
Afterwards, Qi Xun approached Feng Shuangshuang, asking if she liked the present he had given her. Qi Tian met with Kun Lan by the roadside. She was busy carefully collecting tiny snails, worried they would be stepped on by passersby due to their small size and slow movement. Kun Lan joined her, helping to gather the snails.
Qi Tian expressed her admiration for the snails, believing they had dreams and bravely persevered to reach their goals, unlike herself who felt unable to achieve anything. Changing the subject, she presented Kun Lan with a gift. Kun Lan initially refused it, but seeing Qi Tian's disappointment, he softened and accepted it, though he asked her not to give him gifts again. They then continued to collect snails together.
Later, during the Eco Park inspection, Feng Shuangshuang felt unwell and went to the washroom, entrusting her bag to Jian Bai. While she was away, Jian Bai, acting on He Zhengchang's instructions, secretly installed a tracking device on her phone. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew the bag into the river. Qi Xun, passing by, saw the bag floating and a stammering Jian Bai, mistakenly believing Feng Shuangshuang had fallen into the water.
Without hesitation, he leaped into the cold river to search for her. When Feng Shuangshuang emerged from the washroom, she was surprised to find Qi Xun in the river. Colleagues informed her that Qi Xun had jumped in because her bag had fallen. Qi Xun, embarrassed by the misunderstanding, made an excuse about important company documents in the bag and quickly left the scene. Some colleagues found the whole incident amusing, with one even filming Qi Xun's "heroic" jump.
Later that evening, everyone gathered around a campfire, excitedly discussing Qi Xun's earlier leap into the river. When Feng Shuangshuang arrived with ginger tea for Qi Xun, the group dispersed. Qi Xun drank the tea, feeling much better. He then shared a personal reflection, admitting that as a child, he envied other kids who could enjoy various foods, while he could only consume tasteless things.
Despite having everything he needed and his sister Qi Tian, he often felt isolated, like being confined in a watchtower, observing others' joyous smiles from a distance, feeling like he existed in a completely different world. He then asked Feng Shuangshuang if they were reconciled. Feng Shuangshuang confessed she lacked the confidence to answer definitively, instead asking why he jumped into the cold, dangerous water without thinking.
Qi Xun explained his panic when he heard Jian Bai shouting her name and saw her bag in the water. He simply didn't want to lose her because she was the most important person to him. They then shared a yam, playfully debating whether it was a yam or a sweet potato, enjoying a warm and intimate conversation. Upon hearing from Qi Tian that Qi Xun was sick, Feng Shuangshuang went to his house to care for him.
Qi Xun, who was coughing frequently, tried to push her away, claiming his cold was severe and he didn't want to infect her. Undeterred, Feng Shuangshuang prepared his medicine. Qi Xun, hoping to confirm their reconciliation, asked if her concern meant they were "good now." He then feigned aversion to the bitter taste of the medicine, proposing a reward in exchange for taking it.
Feng Shuangshuang understood his implication and leaned in for a kiss, but Qi Xun playfully pulled back, reminding her he was contagious. However, Feng Shuangshuang ignored his warning and kissed him anyway, asking if he would take his medicine now. Encouraged, Qi Xun quickly finished the medicine and immediately requested another kiss. He then continued to playfully insist on a date the next day and wanting to be with her, despite her busy schedule and his illness.
Episode 20 Recap
Kun Lan met with Shen Tong to discuss Qin Ran's situation. Kun Lan informed her that he had inquired with the doctor and learned that Qin Ran needed to be transferred soon and prepared for a heart transplant, although a matching heart hadn't been found yet. Kun Lan assured Shen Tong he would handle the arrangements.
He then revealed that he had been observing Shen Tong for some time and accidentally discovered she was a healer, whose abilities seemed even stronger than Shuangshuang's. He explained that his family were guardians for the healers, a duty they had to uphold, making him her guardian. Shen Tong found the concept of a "guardian" novel but stated she didn't believe she needed his protection. She wondered if Kun Lan liked Shuangshuang, suggesting they team up.
Kun Lan clarified he was serious, explaining the extreme lengths Espers would go to use healers to alleviate the pain that haunts them everyday. He feared Shen Tong might face a similar threat and felt it was his duty to protect her, recounting how his grandfather's past failure led to a healer's death in a fire, a tragedy they hoped to prevent from happening again.
Shen Tong challenged his ability to guarantee safety, asking if he was a master marksman who could always appear when needed. Kun Lan pledged to try, but Shen Tong argued that everyone has their own destiny, and no one can truly protect another. She urged him to seek his own life's purpose rather than fulfilling a so-called mission. Shortly after, Shen Tong felt unwell, prompting them to end their conversation. Meanwhile, Qi Tian and Shi Lang were attempting to knit.
Shi Lang noted Qi Tian's newfound interest in knitting and suggested Qi Xun would be delighted, as her brother had been very worried about her condition. Qi Tian affirmed her love for her brother but clarified the scarf wasn't for him; it was for Kun Lan. Shi Lang expressed surprise, mentioning Kun Lan often refused her.
Qi Tian confessed she didn't know precisely what she liked about Kun Lan, but seeing him made her heart joyful and filled her with hope for the future. She no longer feared what lay ahead, wishing to live longer just to see him more often. Shi Lang gently admonished her not to dwell on such thoughts, assuring her that he and Qi Xun were actively working on solutions for her health.
Shi Lang then playfully described his ideal woman as someone with a good figure and a gorgeous face, explicitly stating, "not someone like you." Qi Tian suggested Director Du, but Shi Lang quickly rejected the idea, calling Director Du a "strong woman" he wasn't interested in. Qi Tian continued to lament that manuals don't cover important things like how to make a crush like you back. Later, Qi Tian went to Kun Lan's residence.
Kun Lan, trying to send her home to avoid Qi Xun's concern, found her insistent. Qi Tian expressed a new wish: for Kun Lan to ride a bicycle with her, a simple pleasure her brother deemed too dangerous. Kun Lan reminded her that he had already granted a wish and he wouldn't allow her to be demanding. Disappointed, Qi Tian reflected on her many unrealized wishes.
She then shared the story of Damocles, highlighting how acquiring power comes with a hidden threat, drawing a parallel to her own life where a constant danger loomed over her. Kun Lan, moved by her words, admitted he didn't know how to ride a bicycle, implying he couldn't fulfill her wish. Qi Tian, however, optimistically stated that he was smart and could learn quickly, declaring it a deal. True to his word, Kun Lan began learning to ride a bicycle.
His assistant, Zha Zha, watched him fall repeatedly and questioned if Kun Lan had moved on to someone else and now liked Qi Tian. Kun Lan denied it, affirming his feelings for Shuangshuang. He explained that he felt he and Qi Tian were similar, both experiencing love they couldn't fully have. He believed that if he was kinder to Qi Tian and she was well, Qi Xun would, in turn, be kinder to Shuangshuang, ultimately leading to their happiness.
Zha Zha, touched by Kun Lan's reasoning, volunteered to teach him personally. Once Kun Lan learned, he took Qi Tian for a bicycle ride as promised. Qi Tian was overjoyed, feeling her dreams were coming true. During the ride, Qi Tian suddenly clutched her chest, complaining of pain, which alarmed Kun Lan, who immediately offered to take her to the hospital.
Qi Tian laughed, revealing it was a joke, saying the pain was because Kun Lan was "stuck inside her heart." Kun Lan realized her prank, calling her silly. Separately, Shuangshuang and Qi Xun enjoyed a romance movie together. Later, while stargazing, Qi Xun proposed a gift for Shuangshuang: a star named after her. Shuangshuang laughed, recognizing it as a common online scam where people are duped into buying fake star-naming certificates that hold no scientific validity.
Her detailed explanation of the fraudulent nature of such services caused Qi Xun to discreetly pull back his hand, which had been reaching for a certificate he had bought. Shuangshuang, noticing his gesture, playfully snatched the certificate, finding his gullibility endearing.
She then expressed how meeting him transformed her life, making every day feel radiant and shining, and declared that from then on, a star named "Glee" would exist for her, acknowledged by her heart alone, regardless of its official status. Qi Xun, relieved by her acceptance, watched as Shuangshuang vowed to shine like a star, always guarding him, rain or shine.
In the hospital, Qin Ran's father went to the office to inquire about Qin Ran's condition but was incapacitated by He Zhengchang. Shuangshuang and Shen Tong were helping Qin Ran prepare for his transfer, which he was reluctant about, wanting to stay with his friends. Shen Tong reassured him that the transfer was for his recovery and promised to take him to an amusement park afterward. When Feng father didn't return, Shuangshuang went to look for him.
She learned from a doctor that he had been there but left without collecting the reports. The doctor also mentioned Qin Ran's condition was not optimistic and required urgent surgery. Shuangshuang couldn't reach Feng father on his phone. Meanwhile, Qi Xun, Shi Lang, and Qi Tian were preparing to visit Qin Ran. Qi Tian showed off a hand-made scarf she knitted for Kun Lan and another store-bought scarf for Qin Ran.
Suddenly, Qi Xun received a call from Shuangshuang, who frantically informed him that her father was missing and she couldn't find him anywhere. The call abruptly cut off, and Shuangshuang was subsequently abducted by He Zhengchang.
Episode 21 Recap
Upon realizing that Shuangshuang's call abruptly ended, Qi Xun grew concerned and immediately redialed. Shen Tong answered the phone, explaining that Shuangshuang had gone looking for Uncle Feng and somehow dropped her phone. She informed Qi Xun that she was at the hospital. Qi Xun asked her to send him a photo of her location so he could come there. When Qi Xun arrived, he couldn't find Shuangshuang or Uncle Feng and suspected they were in danger.
Despite his own discomfort from using his abilities, Qi Xun repeatedly teleported to various locations in search of Shuangshuang. Meanwhile, Shuangshuang had been taken by He Zhengchang to He Taichang's tombstone. He Zhengchang showed Shuangshuang a photo, asking if she recognized the woman. When Shuangshuang denied it, He Zhengchang revealed he was an old family friend, stated that Shuangshuang's mother was a healer, and questioned if she remembered him.
He then interrogated Shuangshuang, asking if she knew what Xun Xue had done. Qi Xun was getting closer to Shuangshuang's location and even heard her cries for help. He Zhengchang had kidnapped Uncle Feng and Shuangshuang to seek revenge on Xun Xue. He revealed that he had secretly taken Jian Bai's key and snuck into MIST to poison Shuangshuang. He watched her drink the poison and saw her go to the hospital, yet she was healed.
He wondered if anyone else among them was a healer. Uncle Feng then stated that Xun Xue had already died. Enraged, He Zhengchang beat Uncle Feng, who insisted on revealing the truth: Xun Xue died in a fire started by He Taichang himself. He Zhengchang refused to believe his brother was a murderer, claiming He Taichang had only sought Xun Xue's help to save him, having given up on his own life.
He demanded to know why they hurt his brother. Uncle Feng clarified that while Xun Xue was a healer, she was not omnipotent, and the severe illness afflicting He Zhengchang and his brother was beyond her healing capabilities. Uncle Feng then offered his own life in exchange for Shuangshuang's safety. He Zhengchang, still in disbelief, demanded to know where Xun Xue's body was. When Uncle Feng couldn't immediately answer, He Zhengchang became frantic and prepared to burn Shuangshuang alive.
Despite suffering from the strain, Qi Xun arrived just as He Zhengchang was about to ignite the torch. He grabbed the torch, but the pain overwhelmed him, and he collapsed, once again experiencing a vivid flashback. He recalled Xun Xue saving him after a car crash, when his ESP was first activated and he was teleported into a painting. After saving him, Xun Xue fainted from exhaustion, accidentally knocking a curtain onto a stove, which started a fire.
He Taichang, arriving to find Xun Xue, rushed in and saved little Shuangshuang and the unconscious Qi Xun, but he and Xun Xue ultimately perished in the blaze. Waking from his unconscious state, Qi Xun revealed the full truth of the fire. He Zhengchang still refused to believe and only wanted to know about Xun Xue's body. Uncle Feng explained that when healers die, they do not leave a physical body; instead, they transform into energy fragments that disperse.
He recalled witnessing Xun Xue's fragments ascend into the air on that fateful day, a sight he could never forget. He admitted his own desire to find the person responsible for his beloved wife's death, but for Shuangshuang's safety, he had endured the pain and lived anonymously. Shuangshuang was also a healer, and he knew that if her identity was discovered, those seeking her power would never give up. He Zhengchang dismissed the story as a lie.
Suddenly, Jian Bai shouted at He Zhengchang to stop. She explained that she had stubbornly remained with him because she believed he had a hidden sorrow and a kind heart. However, his current actions made her question how he could face her or their future. Enraged again, He Zhengchang hurled the torch towards Shuangshuang and Uncle Feng. Qi Xun swiftly teleported them away from the flames.
Jian Bai then threatened to take her own life, appealing to He Zhengchang with her love and finally melting his hatred. Qi Xun stayed by Shuangshuang's bedside all night. When she awoke, she asked how he knew where to find her. Qi Xun explained that after Shen Tong told him she had been missing for half an hour, he teleported to every possible location she might be. Shuangshuang was touched and worried about the discomfort his teleportation caused him.
Qi Xun then shared that he hadn't realized they had met once when they were children. Thanksgiving arrived, and everyone gathered to celebrate. Kun Lan and Qi Xun both brought identical gifts, prompting playful teasing that they were a perfect match. During the gift exchange, Tian Tian presented Kun Lan with a handmade scarf. Kun Lan initially hesitated to accept the gift, but after Tian Tian offered to knit another, he happily accepted it.
Shuangshuang went to pick up Du Wantian for the gathering, and Shuangshuang expressed her gratitude for Du Wantian's support at the company, while Du Wantian complimented Shuangshuang. Shuangshuang later told Qi Xun that her father's opinion of him had recently improved, which pleased Qi Xun greatly.
Later, Qi Xun approached Shen Tong, remarking that they were alike in their desire for their loved ones to live happily, with Qi Xun expressing his wish for Tian Tian to live well and happily. Shen Tong revealed that she was not a healer but an esper with the ability to temporarily alleviate pain through numbing/paralysis. Kun Lan then directly confronted Shen Tong, asking if this was the reason she refused his protection.
Shen Tong explained that one shouldn't be obsessed with self-imposed responsibilities, and that she didn't need his protection as not everyone can be protected; only love is one's true responsibility and mission. After Shen Tong left, Kun Lan told Qi Xun that Shuangshuang should distance herself from Shen Tong because their abilities (esper vs. healer) are antagonistic. Qi Xun agreed, expressing that this time he was on Kun Lan's side.
Kun Lan then immediately conveyed the same warning to Shuangshuang, who was surprised that both he and Qi Xun were saying the same thing. Shuangshuang refused to accept it, stating that Shen Tong was a good person whom she trusted, and went to look for her.
Episode 22 Recap
Qi Xun confronted Shen Tong, demanding to know her true intentions. Shen Tong revealed her life story, explaining that since childhood, she possessed a unique ability: anyone she hugged in their moments of pain would instantly forget their suffering and relax. People saw her as good luck, and even her birth was painless for her mother, shocking the hospital staff. She became popular in school, with everyone gathering around her and wanting to be her friend.
Whether they failed exams or suffered heartbreak, a simple hug from her would alleviate their pain and calm them. However, as more and more people sought her out, she realized they were merely using her ability. This changed when she met Xu Yiming, a big boy who laughed a lot. Xu Yiming had admired her since high school, meticulously observing her daily routines. He candidly confessed his feelings for her, asking for her phone number.
Shen Tong, for the first time in her life, felt nervous yet her heart was filled with joy. They fell deeply in love and spent happy days together. Tragically, Xu Yiming passed away at the very place they met, succumbing to sudden cardiac death. Shen Tong explained that because she was with him, his passing was painless and went unnoticed, leading to profound regret and suicidal thoughts.
She was deterred by a friend's words that those who committed suicide couldn't enter heaven, where Xu Yiming was waiting for her. After his death, while volunteering at a hospital, she met Qin Ran, who also suffered from a severe heart condition. She saw Xu Yiming reborn in him and resolved to ensure Qin Ran lived a full life with a healthy heart, hoping Xu Yiming would be proud of her.
Shen Tong then told Qi Xun that she now understood many things, acknowledging that both she and Qi Xun were "patients," but her own condition was beyond any help. She asked Qi Xun to gather everyone, promising a full explanation then, before she left to see Qin Ran. Later, Shen Tong met with Kun Lan, who calmly stated he wouldn't ask questions, trusting Shen Tong to reveal the truth when she was ready.
Shen Tong confirmed she was an ESP user and explained that while other ESP users sought healers to mend their body, she had no such yearning. She admitted she used to fear death when she was deeply in love with Xu Yiming, wanting only to be with him, but that fear was now gone.
She advised Kun Lan that a guardian's true responsibility wasn't about mission, but about protecting what one loves from the heart, emphasizing that life-or-death experiences reveal what truly matters. When Kun Lan asked what he should protect, Shen Tong simply replied, "The present." She then handed him an organ donation consent form, revealing her plan to donate her heart to Qin Ran.
Kun Lan was shocked, questioning if she was truly sure about this, but Shen Tong stated it was destiny, and everything was already arranged. She thanked Kun Lan for his caring and support, then bid him farewell. Preparations were underway for a celebration of Qin Ran's recovery. Qi Tian arrived with a present for Qin Ran. Meanwhile, Shuangshuang, rushing to the hospital, received a letter from Shen Tong from a hospital staff member who offered condolences, signaling Shen Tong's passing.
In her letter, Shen Tong apologized for not saying goodbye in person, fearing she wouldn't have the courage if she saw Shuangshuang crying while trying to smile. She recounted a dream where Shuangshuang questioned her departure, reflecting her own past self. Shen Tong expressed that watching Shuangshuang transition from loneliness to being surrounded by love felt like reliving her own life, and she often envied Shuangshuang.
The letter also revealed that Shen Tong had secretly investigated Qi Xun, confirming his loyalty and deep care for Shuangshuang. She reassured Shuangshuang about her past doubts, recalling their conversation where Shuangshuang worried if Qi Xun's affection was genuine or if he merely wanted to exploit her healing abilities. Shen Tong had promised to uncover the truth, saying that some things become clear with time.
As it suddenly started to rain heavily, ruining the outdoor party, Kun Lan arrived and informed everyone that Shen Tong would not be joining them. He then distributed another letter from Shen Tong to everyone. Qi Tian read it aloud, where Shen Tong wrote that by the time they read the letter, she would be with the person she loved, journeying far away.
She spoke of life's balance – light and shadow, reunion and parting – admitting that her life was a fleeting journey, full of goodbyes. She acknowledged her past fear and how leaving without looking back was an act of cowardice, but now, she urged everyone not to miss her. With newfound courage and freedom, she was off to find her beloved, promising to smile brightly. She entrusted everyone with the care of young Qin Ran.
Despite the profound sadness among everyone, Shen Tong’s sacrifice successfully ensured Qin Ran's recovery. Qi Xun and Shuangshuang later prayed for the departed. Shuangshuang expressed a wish for reincarnation, hoping that death was merely the end of one journey and the beginning of a new one, believing that two people in love could always be together, whether in life or death. At a beautiful place, she wondered if they could live there in the future.
Sometime later, Shuangshuang tried to give Qin Ran his medicine, but he refused, crying for Miss Fairy Tale. He explained that since his recovery, Miss Fairy Tale hadn't visited, making him think she no longer wanted him, despite his efforts to be good and brave during treatments, even with large needles. He reminded Shuangshuang of Miss Fairy Tale's promise to take him to an amusement park once he was well, but she hadn't come.
Shuangshuang lovingly reassured him that Miss Fairy Tale hadn't abandoned him; she had moved to a more important place: into his heart. She explained that Miss Fairy Tale knew Qin Ran’s heartbeats were slower than most, so she now resided there to make his heart stronger and faster. Qin Ran, after being assured that Miss Fairy Tale could hear him, told her that she could come out if she was tired, because he missed her and wanted to play.
Seeing his tenderness moved Shuangshuang to tears, but she quickly composed herself, and Qin Ran cooperatively took his medicine. While asleep, Qi Tian experienced a terrifying premonition. She saw Feng Father angrily confront Qi Xun, accusing him fiercely. Feng Father raged that his wife, Xun Xue, had sacrificed her life to save Qi Xun, and now Qi Xun intended to sacrifice Shuangshuang for Qi Tian's sake. He then violently struck Qi Xun down.
This terrifying vision, emphasizing that the price of healing was one's own life, startled Qi Tian awake, leaving her deeply frightened by the potential future events. Despite the recent emotional turmoil, Qi Xun and Shuangshuang found joy in each other's company, traveling and enjoying a sense of peace. They envisioned getting married, seemingly forgetting any lingering obstacles. In another moment, Qi Tian and Kun Lan were on a playful date.
Qi Tian offered Kun Lan a selection of candies, including strawberry, lemon, and cantaloupe. When Kun Lan chose strawberry, Qi Tian playfully ate it herself, teasing him about not getting what he liked. She then unexpectedly kissed Kun Lan, telling him that now, every time he tasted a strawberry, he would be reminded of her.
Shi Lang, observing from a distance, was impressed by Qi Tian’s dating prowess, noting how formidable she was in romance and deeming Kun Lan quite fortunate. Qi Tian briefly acknowledged Shi Lang before carrying on with Kun Lan, suggesting another place they could go together.
Episode 23 Recap
Qi Tian confided in Kun Lan that she had frequently dreamt of flying higher and higher until she could no longer see herself. She explained that she used to be terrified of falling in these dreams, as some believed it meant death, so she would always force herself awake. Eventually, even the dreams of flying ceased. She reflected that gaining something often meant losing something else, but both were experiences.
Now, she declared, she had no fear of death, even if she were to fall. Kun Lan, in response, playfully called her a philosopher, but reminded her that while she might be fearless, he was risking his life to accompany her and couldn't afford to be so reckless. As they stood by the sea, Qi Tian wondered if birds in the sky pitied humans on the ground, observing that birds were so small and fragile.
Kun Lan mused that birds were likely too engrossed in their freedom to consider the lonely humans below. Closing her eyes, Qi Tian then expressed her profound happiness at being with him. Before paragliding, they both signed Hold Harmless Agreements. As they soared through the sky under the guidance of professionals, Qi Tian pointed out birds to Kun Lan, sharing what she described as the most beautiful day.
Later, as they prepared to part, Qi Tian embraced Kun Lan, promising not to disturb him again. She waved goodbye, deliberately not looking back, fearing she wouldn't be able to leave. She wished that in another life, she could meet him earlier, hoping he would still fall in love with her without hesitation. Upon returning to her place, Feng Shuangshuang discovered Kun Lan had left, leaving behind his guardian ring and a letter.
In the letter, Kun Lan admitted his past confusion about his feelings for Shuangshuang, realizing that what he mistook for love was likely a sense of mission. He acknowledged that his duty might have caused him to meddle too much in her life, leading him to believe he was the right person for her. He apologized for any trouble he caused and for leaving without a word, like someone else before him.
Kun Lan wrote that Qi Xun was her true guardian, someone who would protect and love her unconditionally. He, meanwhile, would continue his mission to protect those who awaited him in the dark, wishing her eternal happiness. Shuangshuang was in tears as she read the letter. Shortly after, Ah Xin delivered a set of keys to Shuangshuang, explaining that Kun Lan had secretly bought her old apartment to ensure she would never be evicted again.
Shuangshuang's eyes welled up with tears, and Ah Xin expressed his admiration for Kun Lan's kindness. Seeing Shuangshuang looking downcast, Qi Xun asked her if she would have ended up with Kun Lan if they had never met. Shuangshuang confessed she didn't know. This answer caused Qi Xun to feel a pang of loss, wondering if he wasn't special to her, or if he could be easily replaced.
Shuangshuang, gazing at the city lights, explained that while relationships might start with initial sparks, true uniqueness in a person comes from love. She then told Qi Xun, "I love you." Qi Xun lovingly embraced her and kissed her forehead. Later, by the beach, Qi Xun recounted his past, revealing he had once been a boring person whose sole purpose in life was Qi Tian's well-being. He admitted that without Qi Tian, his life would have been meaningless.
However, meeting Shuangshuang transformed his monotonous existence, filling it with joy and making every day a happy one. Amidst fireworks lighting up the night sky and heart-shaped candles spelling out "Shuangshuang, marry me" on the sand, Qi Xun proposed, and Shuangshuang happily accepted. Meanwhile, Shi Lang had prepared a bracelet as a gift for Qi Tian, but when he went to meet her, he found her unconscious on the ground.
Panicked, he scooped her up and rushed towards the hospital, calling out her name, Qi Xun's name, and pleading for her to wake up. As he hurried along, Qi Tian suddenly coughed up blood. Shi Lang cried out in despair, urging her to hold on, promising they would see Kun Lan soon. They finally reached the hospital, but Qi Tian, in a weak voice, refused to go inside.
She told Shi Lang she knew her time was short and had dreamt of her death. She implored him to take her away and tell Qi Xun they had gone on a trip, wanting him to remember her alive. Overcome with anguish, Shi Lang looked at the hospital entrance. Qi Tian then looked at him and asked, "Do you love me?" Shi Lang, tears streaming down his face, begged her to enter the hospital, but she adamantly refused.
In a moment of profound torment, Shi Lang made a wrenching decision and carried Qi Tian in the opposite direction from the hospital. Returning home, Qi Xun frantically searched for Qi Tian when he discovered her diary on a table. His expression changed dramatically as he realized the gravity of the situation. He tried calling her phone, only to find it lying in the house. In a panic, Qi Xun rushed out, desperately searching for her.
He tried calling Shi Lang, but couldn't reach him either, confirming his fear that something terrible had happened to Qi Tian. He then hurried to Feng Shuangshuang's apartment, where he encountered Feng Yun. This interaction eerily mirrored the premonition Qi Tian had experienced. Qi Xun pleaded with Feng Yun to let Shuangshuang save Qi Tian, promising that he would not let Shuangshuang be harmed and would face any consequences with her.
However, Feng Yun vehemently refused, reminding Qi Xun that his late wife, Xun Xue, had sacrificed her own life to save him. He would not allow his daughter, Shuangshuang, to make the same sacrifice for Qi Tian. Feng Yun then struck Qi Xun, explaining that saving Qi Tian would demand Shuangshuang's life as an "equivalent exchange." Stunned and heartbroken, Qi Xun collapsed to the ground, wracked with despair.
Unable to bring himself to speak to Shuangshuang, much less ask her to save Qi Tian, he left in a daze. Feng Yun watched him go, wanting to offer comfort, but ultimately held back. Unable to contact Qi Xun, Feng Shuangshuang went to his house. There, she discovered Qi Tian's diary. Reading through its pages, Shuangshuang learned about Qi Tian's life, including a premonition at age six about her parents' car accident, which marked the beginning of her misfortunes.
Qi Tian wrote about her brother's relentless search for healers over the years to save her, and how he was forced to mature prematurely, sacrificing his own life. She wished she were a normal person so her brother wouldn't have to endure such hardship, nor face the agonizing choice between her and Shuangshuang. However, she also expressed gratitude for her predictive abilities, which allowed her to meet Kun Lan and brought Shuangshuang into her brother's life.
Qi Tian noted how much happier and gentler Qi Xun had become since Shuangshuang's arrival. She wished time could have stopped at their first meeting so she wouldn't have to say goodbye, and her brother wouldn't face such a monumental decision. Shuangshuang wept as she read the heartbreaking entries.
Episode 24 (Ending) Recap
Qi Xun stood in his office, gazing at Feng Shuangshuang’s empty desk, his mind replaying their past together. He reflected on how his life had been dull and empty before meeting her, but after encountering Feng Shuangshuang, he finally felt a strong heartbeat within him. She allowed him to experience emotions like nervousness, worry, and jealousy for the first time, and he finally understood what it meant to laugh from the heart.
He even wondered if she would have been with Kun Lan, laughing heartily, had they not met. He acknowledged that she had pulled him back from the abyss of his life, and he couldn’t even fully express how much he truly liked her. He recalled the incident before his presentation, when he saw Feng Shuangshuang with Kun Lan, looking so close. He didn't understand why it bothered him so much at the time.
Even when it wasn't her fault, he couldn't stop himself from humiliating and criticizing her, questioning if someone focused on men could produce good work. He admitted that he thought acting that way would make him feel better, but seeing her visibly hurt only made him feel worse than ever. He remembered the day it poured, and when he finally found her on the mountain, his panicked heart settled the moment she turned to him.
He instinctively ran to her, hugging her tightly to confirm her safety, realizing then how terrified he was of losing her. However, he then acknowledged the grave mistake he made, when Feng Shuangshuang overheard him saying deeply hurtful things—that he only approached her to save Qi Tian and wouldn’t give up. He knew how much courage it took for her to be with him, yet he had still hurt her.
He recalled her pained questions: "When you said you like me, that you love me, and even your kiss, are those real?" The pain he felt then was unimaginable. During their time apart, he missed her every day and worried constantly, always hoping that when he woke up, everything would return to how it was when they were together.
But when he finally saw her and wanted to embrace her, she instinctively stepped back, avoiding him and treating him like a stranger. The agony was beyond words. He swore to himself then that he would never hurt her again, yet he was repeatedly the one who caused her pain. Thinking of their happy memories, he wished to kiss her again, see her bright smile, and have her embrace him.
He missed her bashfulness when someone called her his wife, and the adorable way she’d fall asleep while watching a silent film she’d specially found for him. He had wanted to protect her for the rest of his life and start a family with her, loving and spoiling her forever. But now, he concluded, he must let go, offering only a heartfelt "I am sorry." Feng Shuangshuang continued to weep as she ate.
Feng Yun tried to comfort her, revealing that he hadn't told her some things earlier to spare her pain. He advised her not to be too upset, believing that some things are destined from the start and cannot be changed. Feng Shuangshuang expressed her fear that Qi Xun wouldn't want to see her, as it would only remind him of Qi Tian's passing and bring them both torment.
She confessed that she couldn't happily enjoy their love after Qi Tian's sacrifice, as the thought of their relationship being built on Qi Tian's life was a barrier she couldn't overcome. She believed they were perhaps destined to be apart, and tried to cope with her sorrow by constantly drawing and cleaning. Two years later, Qi Xun remained relentless in his search for Qi Tian.
He had plastered her photos everywhere and traveled extensively, rushing to any lead, searching high and low across the country, with anywhere becoming his resting place and a simple bento or cup noodles his meal. He made phone calls to contacts for any leads, especially for "a girl with big eyes and a tall boy." He had already searched all over the country and asked his contacts to focus on overseas locations. One day, he received a parcel.
Inside were numerous photos of Qi Tian and Shi Lang together in various places from the past two years, along with their wedding photos and a postcard. The postcard explained that Shi Lang hadn't contacted Qi Xun out of fear of being scolded, and asked Qi Xun not to be angry the next time he saw him.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Qi Xun shed tears of joy and relief, finally knowing his sister was well, crying uncontrollably as he ate while looking at their wedding photos. At the company building, Feng Shuangshuang continued working on her painting, which now included two new figures: Qi Xun and herself. Qi Xun approached her quietly from behind and softly called her name. She paused, tears welling in her eyes, but did not turn and continued painting.
Qi Xun then said, "I am back." Feng Shuangshuang turned sharply and slapped him across the face, then quickly resumed painting. Undeterred, Qi Xun tenderly declared, "I miss you so much." Her tears streaming down, Feng Shuangshuang turned and repeatedly hit him. Qi Xun pulled her into a tight embrace, apologizing profusely and telling her he loved her. Feng Shuangshuang buried her face in his shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably.
Feng Yun, who had arrived with food for Feng Shuangshuang, quietly sat aside and watched their reunion, a mixture of tears and smiles on his face as he ate. Director Du later visited Feng Shuangshuang, sharing that she had lost contact with Kun Lan after their project to rebuild Hope Elementary, but found happiness in her architecture career. She also reassured Feng Shuangshuang that Qin Ran had grown up and she no longer needed to worry about him.
Feng Shuangshuang expressed her sincere gratitude to Director Du. Director Du then returned Feng Shuangshuang's resignation letter, assuring her that MIST would always welcome her back, and wished her happiness as she left. Amidst falling peach blossoms, Qi Xun kissed Feng Shuangshuang on the forehead, and she beautifully incorporated the scene into her painting. Elsewhere, Shi Lang proudly admired his improved photo editing skills, having digitally altered all his pictures to include Qi Tian.
Kun Lan was also with Shi Lang, traveling around and appreciating the scenery, seemingly carrying Qi Tian with them wherever they went. He Zhengchang, meanwhile, found peace in his spiritual journey, calmly praying to Buddha statues. Back at the company, Director Du was busy with work, reviewing design plans and scheduling interviews. Her assistant introduced the latest intern, Zhang Lichuan, who looked exactly like Qi Xun but wore glasses.
