Gu Jingyuan found himself unable to face Qiao Yan after their recent argument, so he packed some clothes and told her he was leaving for a few days on a business trip, strictly instructing Lin Ze to keep his whereabouts a secret. Meanwhile, Qiao Yan, eager to please, learned to cook with Yue and prepared an elaborate meal, sending photos to Gu Jingyuan. However, his responses were distant, leaving Qiao Yan feeling neglected.
She confided in Miao, expressing her fear that marriage was proving to be the "grave of love." She observed that Gu Jingyuan had become increasingly busy and elusive since their wedding, rarely answering her calls or texts, almost as if he was deliberately avoiding her. Miao, frustrated by Gu Jingyuan's behavior, advised Qiao Yan that men needed to be kept in check and made to feel a sense of crisis.
She volunteered to pry information from Lin Ze while encouraging Qiao Yan to actively "check up on him." Unaware of this, Qin Ziyu had already noticed Gu Jingyuan's frequent private meetings with Mr. Lin of Qin's Group. He suspected they were conspiring against Qin's, especially given the recent volatile stock market activity.
When confronted, Gu Jingyuan revealed he was indeed acquiring Qin's shares, explaining that once Mr. Lin secured them, he would have sufficient leverage to remove Qin Ziyu from the company. Gu Jingyuan offered Qin Ziyu a way out: he would halt the acquisition if Qin Ziyu allowed him to take Luo Qian and promised to keep a secret forever.
Gu Jingyuan understood Qin Ziyu's true motivations, asserting that if he truly only wanted Qiao Yan, he would have revealed the secret long ago. But Qin Ziyu's hatred for Gu Jingyuan ran deeper, aiming to destroy everything he had. Gu Jingyuan concluded that Qin Ziyu would never abandon Qin's, as without the company, he would have no power to contend with him.
Back home, Qiao Yan visited Gu Jingyuan at the office to bring him food but instead found a necklace belonging to Lu Wanqing and a divorce agreement. She took the document home. When Gu Jingyuan returned, he saw it and tried to dismiss it as a mere precaution against business risks. Qiao Yan, however, knew he was concealing something significant. Unable to get answers from him directly, she decided to investigate on her own.
She called Miao, who revealed that Lin Ze, after being plied with drinks, confessed Gu Jingyuan was not on a business trip but staying in a hotel, deliberately avoiding home. Miao also shared rumors of Gu Jingyuan's frequent association with Lu Wanqing. This information prompted Qiao Yan to secretly follow Lu Wanqing. Lu Wanqing met with Qin Ziyu and then proceeded to Xin Yu Sanatorium.
Qin Ziyu proposed a deal, offering her three percent of Qin's shares if she helped him dismantle Gu's. Lu Wanqing agreed, driven by a desire to return to a time when she and Gu Jingyuan had nothing, believing that only then would he be truly hers. She also pressed Qin Ziyu for his true reasons for hating "Yuan." He instructed her to visit the sanatorium the next day for answers.
A nurse then led Lu Wanqing to Luo Qian, where Qin Ziyu arrived and revealed that Luo Qian was the woman his father had abandoned, and more shockingly, Gu Jingyuan's birth mother, making Gu Jingyuan his father's illegitimate son. Lu Wanqing was stunned, finally understanding that Qin Ziyu was using this truth to threaten Gu Jingyuan. Meanwhile, Qiao Yan, still tracking Lu Wanqing, arrived at the remote sanatorium but was stopped by security, who denied her entry without an appointment.
Determined, Qiao Yan enlisted Miao's help to professionally investigate the sanatorium. Miao soon discovered that the facility was owned by Qin's Group, further connecting it to Qin Mian and raising Qiao Yan's suspicions about Lu Wanqing's involvement. That evening, Qiao Yan's grandfather confronted her, concerned after Sister Yue observed that Qiao Yan and Gu Jingyuan were rarely talking and sleeping in separate rooms. Worried about a quarrel, he pressed for the truth.
Qiao Yan, not wanting to worry him, lied that Gu Jingyuan was working long hours and occasionally slept in another room to avoid disturbing her rest. Soon after, Gu Jingyuan confronted Lu Wanqing, knowing she was conspiring with Qin Ziyu, and told her to resign. News quickly spread within Gu's Group that Lu Wanqing, the design director, had abruptly resigned. Colleagues gossiped that she was caught attempting to photograph confidential company documents for Gu Jingyuan.
The media reported on her sudden departure and speculated on its potential impact on Gu's fully committed "children-friendly community" project. Qiao Yan later met with Lu Wanqing, seeking answers about her sudden resignation. Lu Wanqing, however, refused to divulge any details, suggesting Qiao Yan ask Gu Jingyuan herself. She then tried to sow doubt, implying that Gu Jingyuan's secrecy meant he didn't trust Qiao Yan or deem her worthy of sharing his burdens.
Qiao Yan, however, stood firm, stating that approaching Lu Wanqing was a mistake and reaffirming her trust in Gu Jingyuan as her husband, believing his actions were for their family and that she should not hear about him from an outsider.
