Qu Zheng declared their confrontation was over and that he would not attack a blind and powerless man. He announced that he and Baiwan would return to Tingqin Garden and send the solution to Nonuple Palace. Qingyun scoffed, challenging him to kill him instead of pretending to be merciful.
As Qu Zheng and Baiwan prepared to leave, Baiwan paused and addressed "Chu," placing a blank tablet and stating it belonged to "Chu," who should be buried there. She proclaimed that from this moment, the identity of "Chu" ceased to exist in the world, symbolizing her farewell to her past. Zi Jing tried to stop Baiwan from leaving but then turned to comfort the injured and sightless Qingyun.
