That night, as the Host Jing Yuan of Nonguple Palace was preoccupied with attacking the Tingqin Garden, Zi Jing saw an opportunity. She sneaked into a secret room while her Majesty was momentarily distracted and transcribed a copy of the Puyuan Canon. She had moved a mechanism, fearing it might be detected, but Qingyun reassured her he would take responsibility if anything was discovered. He eagerly demanded the canon.

Zi Jing hesitated, not to threaten him, but to warn him that the canon was not as immensely powerful as he imagined; practitioners could easily become possessed by the Devil, just like the Host Jing Yuan. She was afraid for him if he insisted on practicing it. Qingyun, however, was desperate, seeing this as his only chance to defeat Qu Zheng.

Even if it meant possession, he felt he had no other choice and threatened her if she continued to obstruct him. Zi Jing pressed him, asking what he would gain even if he mastered the technique, asserting that Chu would never change for him. This provoked Qingyun, who refused to entertain the possibility. He believed that once Qu Zheng was dead, Chu would return to him.

Zi Jing countered, asking if Chu would care if he died in battle, pointing out that she was the only one who truly cared about his life. She lamented that their relationship was complicated only because she had entered Nonguple Palace and met him a few years after Chu. Despite her reservations, Zi Jing handed over the canon. Qingyun promised to fulfill any request she had.

Zi Jing sadly replied that he knew what she wanted, but it was something he could not give her. Meanwhile, Chu, also known as Baiwan, was anxious to find Qu Zheng. Jin Muqiu and Su Zhuozhuo tried to stop her, warning that the entrance to Tingqin Garden was surrounded by martial artists and that she would be walking into danger as a perceived villain. But Chu was determined to find Zheng, who she believed was in danger.

They hadn't gone far before they encountered Qingyun. He quickly incapacitated Jin Muqiu and Su Zhuozhuo, and Chu fell into his arms. When Chu awoke, she was with Qingyun and felt a confusing sense of familiarity. Qingyun took her around the courtyard, which he revealed was their favorite secret spot when they were on missions, a place only they knew. Seeing the surroundings triggered her memories.

He showed her a tree where she had carved sword marks after missions, explaining they were their tombstones made because their missions were dangerous. He reminded her of a time he nearly died and she promised to stay with him forever. As her memories flooded back, Qingyun received an urgent summons from the Host Jing Yuan, requiring all disciples to return to Nonguple Palace. He told Chu to rest there and wait for his return.

As he left, Chu fully recalled her past. She realized with horror that she had killed many people and was a killer. She understood that Zheng had hidden her memory to protect her from this truth and that she had misunderstood him. She also realized that Zheng staying at the Escort Agency and returning to Tingqin Garden were all efforts to protect her and divert attention from her.

Back near where they were captured, Su Zhuozhuo and Jin Muqiu were worried about Baiwan (Chu). Su Zhuozhuo decided to wait there for Song Jianshan, while Jin Muqiu went on alone to search for her. Jin Muqiu was soon recognized by several martial artists who intended to capture her to lure out Qu Zheng and Jin Baiwan. She cried out for help. The Lord of Valley Junior, who was nearby, recognized her voice.

He started to rush to her aid, but Jueming reminded him of the rules of the Martial Arts Bet, which prevented him from meeting his wife (implied to be Jin Muqiu). Admonished, the Lord of Valley Junior quickly disguised himself before stepping in to rescue Jin Muqiu, dispersing her attackers. Jin Muqiu thanked the hero for saving her. She found his voice familiar and was surprised when he addressed her by her surname, Jin.

Remembering him, she realized he was Brother Ashu and understood he had to conceal his identity because of the Martial Arts Bet. Despite the circumstances, he offered to escort her, citing the danger posed by the Nonguple Palace's wanted orders and the gathering martial artists heading towards Tingqin Garden. Jin Muqiu was pleased by his offer. At the Tingqin Garden, the Host Jing Yuan had gathered all the Nonguple Palace disciples.

Members from various martial arts sects had also surrounded the entrance, demanding Qu Zheng and Chu surrender. Inside, Qu Zheng was making preparations and formulating a plan, unconcerned by the mounting pressure. After a prolonged wait, a masked woman emerged. She removed her mask, revealing herself as Chu. She declared that she was the person they were looking for, "A Chu," and provocatively asked if they weren to curious who held the real Puyuan Canon now.

Just then, Qu Zheng appeared. To the shock of many, Qu Zheng announced that the massacre of the Xu family and the theft of the Puyuan Canon were indeed his doing. He framed his actions as exposing the hypocrisy of the so-called righteous sects like Nonguple Palace, whom he claimed were the true villains. Chu protested, saying it wasn't true, and called him by his real name, Xu Yifei, revealing his true identity.

However, Qu Zheng, in a calculated move to protect Chu and shift blame onto himself, deliberately stabbed her. Seeing this, Qingyun and his followers could no longer stand by and charged forward. Amidst the ensuing chaos, Chu collapsed, unconscious. When Chu awoke, she immediately asked about Qu Zheng's condition. Jin Muqiu, bewildered by her concern after being stabbed, reassured her that he was safe. Song Jianshan had protected him, and he had retreated back to Tingqin Garden.

She explained that Qu Zheng was now viewed as a great villain, while Chu was seen as a hero for exposing him. Chu, tearfully, understood that Qu Zheng had done everything to take the blame and protect her. Meanwhile, Song Jianshan questioned Qu Zheng about whether sacrificing himself for Chu was worth it.

Qu Zheng firmly stated it was, as long as she was safe, adding that Jing Yuan would not have another opportunity to harm her, hinting at a decisive confrontation. Song Jianshan expressed concern about Qu Zheng's pain, but Qu Zheng dismissed him, insisting he was fine and telling him to leave. Alone, Qu Zheng reflected that since Chu had recovered her memories, he had to finish his conflict with Jing Yuan swiftly to ensure her safety.
