Song Jianshan suggested they could relax, but Qu Zheng felt Jing Yuan might have discovered something, especially since he had been with Jin Baiwan the entire journey. Qu Zheng revealed he now knew Baiwan's identity as a member of Nonuple Palace and stated he must prevent her from falling back into Jing Yuan's hands, especially since she had lost her memory.
He decided they should get married quickly, as becoming the official Mrs. Qu of Tingqin Garden would make her untouchable by Nonuple Palace. He instructed Mr Wang to start preparing for the wedding. Song Jianshan then mentioned he had "accidentally" revealed Qu Zheng's birthday to Baiwan, implying she was likely busy preparing a gift, which Qu Zheng thought was good. Meanwhile, Baiwan was discussing Qu Zheng's upcoming birthday with Jin Muqiu and Su Zhuozhuo.
Baiwan was excited about an idea she had to celebrate his birthday, since he couldn't host a large banquet due to those he had offended because of her. Su Zhuozhuo showed them her family's secret recipe face cream, claiming it would make one not age a day. As Qu Zheng and Song Jianshan continued discussing wedding preparations, Baiwan arrived. Baiwan, who had heard the outsiders were gone, asked if she could go to the temple fair the next night. Qu Zheng readily agreed. At the same time, Qingyun and his men positioned themselves at the largest grain store in Qingyi Town, knowing Tingqin Garden purchased supplies there. When a butler from Tingqin Garden arrived, he ordered a large quantity of grain, oil, red dates, longans, and lotus seeds, also asking for the best jewelry artisan in town.

Back at the temple fair area, Jin Muqiu, Su Zhuozhuo, and Song Jianshan were playfully arguing about novels and drinks when Aqi returned in distress, reporting that Baiwan had been taken away by people from Nonuple Palace. Everyone was worried and split up to search. Jin Muqiu encountered Yu Linfeng, who had been looking for Su Zhuozhuo (referred to as Qiuqiu in his novels) through her published works.
Yu Linfeng tried to convince Jin Muqiu to return to Taoyuan Valley with him, promising to send people to search for Baiwan from there. Jin Muqiu refused, adamant that waiting would be too late, and left to search on her own. Recognizing her determination to find Baiwan, Yu Linfeng followed her. Meanwhile, Song Jianshan reported to Qu Zheng that Baiwan was taken by the Young Host of Nonuple Palace, and their tracks led towards Wanlan Town.
Qu Zheng immediately set out for Wanlan Town, instructing Song Jianshan to bring disciples to join him. Jin Muqiu joined Song Jianshan and the disciples heading to Wanlan Town. She recounted how Qu Zheng had appeared and given Xing Laoliu the Puyuan Canon, instructing him to deliver it to Jin's Escort Agency for a man named Qing Songke, and later Qu Zheng arrested Xing Laoliu and rescued them. Baiwan remained unconvinced, suspecting Xiaocui was sent by Qingyun to frame Qu Zheng. She declared she would only believe it if Qu Zheng told her himself. At that moment, Qu Zheng arrived and quickly defeated Qingyun.
