Encounter with You Episode 28 Recap
> Encounter with You Recap
Hua Ming discovered an invitation in the gallery from the French Academy of Contemporary Art for Wan Xinxin to go to France. Wan Xinxin confirmed that Jiang Xiaoyu had secured this significant opportunity, which would involve being away for an extended period, possibly indefinitely. Hua Ming, visibly moved and fearing her departure, asked her to promise to always inform him of her decisions.
Wan Xinxin playfully called him overreactive, but he expressed his deep fear of her leaving without a word or disappearing from his life. She then admitted feeling he had been avoiding her and keeping secrets, to which he responded that he had no intention of remarrying and would share everything when the time was right. When he asked if she loved him, she confirmed her feelings.
Following their reconciliation, Wan Xinxin sent a message to Jiang Xiaoyu via phone, declining the Paris opportunity, explaining that she had made up with her boyfriend. Jiang Xiaoyu, calling her unreliable, wished her happiness. Hua Ming reiterated his request for her promise, and they shared a tender moment. Meanwhile, Qin Gang's 4S dealership business was failing, with contracts being lost despite advanced negotiations. He furiously chastised his employees, asserting that even Jiang Kaiyang knew how to handle such situations.
When Liu Wei visited, Qin Gang complained that his current staff was inferior to Jiang Kaiyang. Liu Wei, seeing the company's predicament, requested to review the company files to understand the business and potentially recommend someone. She subsequently contacted Jiang Kaiyang via phone. Jiang Kaiyang met Liu Wei, initially appearing confident. However, Liu Wei quickly confronted him with evidence of his past embezzlement, detailing how he had inflated repair costs by replacing parts that only required minor fixes.
She revealed that she had consulted a mechanic and listed numerous discrepancies, hinting at the severe consequences if she exposed this information. Jiang Kaiyang attempted to downplay his actions, but Liu Wei acknowledged Qin Gang's current need for managerial skills and offered to help him return to the dealership. She made it clear, however, that she would retain the incriminating ledger for future leverage. Overjoyed at the prospect, Jiang Kaiyang readily agreed to her terms.
Liu Wei then reminded him of his previous promise to assist her regarding Wan Xinxin and Qin Gang. Jiang Kaiyang immediately pledged his full support, assuring her he would help Qin Gang defeat Wan Xinxin. Later, Liu Wei informed Jiang Kaiyang that Qin Gang had agreed to rehire him as sales manager, advising him to allow Qin Gang to save face and providing him with money for new clothes in anticipation of "important tasks."
Hua Ming asked Wan Xinxin to watch Ruirui while he and Xia Qing went to mail documents for Ruirui's school. While alone, Ruirui made sarcastic remarks to Wan Xinxin, who attempted to ease the tension by offering her ice cream. They discussed Ruirui's disapproval of Wan Xinxin and her father's relationship, with Ruirui asserting that her parents would reunite. Wan Xinxin playfully suggested she might marry Hua Ming, even offering Ruirui the option to call her "sister" instead of "stepmom."
After checking on her baby, Wan Xinxin, having previously confirmed with Jiang Xiaoyu that she would bring her painting for the French exhibition, discovered to her dismay that the painting, which she had placed on an easel, was missing. She immediately questioned Ruirui, who denied seeing it and threatened to tell Hua Ming that Wan Xinxin was falsely accusing her. When Hua Ming and Xia Qing returned, they found Ruirui crying.
Hua Ming quickly comforted his daughter and, upon hearing Ruirui's denial, believed her, chastising Wan Xinxin for being overly sensitive and disorganized. Wan Xinxin, feeling hurt and unsupported, accused Hua Ming of always siding with Ruirui and lacking trust in her. She admitted to keeping a draft of the painting as a "way out" should their relationship fail, which Hua Ming found to be a profound blow to his trust.
Wan Xinxin countered that he didn't trust her either and brought up the presence of his ex-wife and daughter as a significant challenge for her. Feeling unappreciated and disappointed by Hua Ming's lack of trust, Wan Xinxin, driven by her long-held dream of going to Paris, angrily decided to leave and pursue the French opportunity. She moved out of the house with her baby and went to the gallery, where she met Xu Ke and Jiang Xiaoyu.
Xu Ke tried to advise her to be more understanding of Hua Ming, even suggesting she treat him with "motherly love," which she found absurd. Wan Xinxin then asked Jiang Xiaoyu to help her rectify the situation, firmly reiterating her decision to go to France, emphasizing it as an unmissable opportunity. Jiang Xiaoyu, despite her earlier change of mind, agreed to help her apply for an extension.
Despite Hua Ming's attempts to appear cheerful, Ruirui sensed his deep sadness over Wan Xinxin's departure. Moved by his emotional state, Ruirui confessed to Xia Qing that she had deliberately hidden Wan Xinxin's painting because she was angry about Wan Xinxin wanting to marry her dad. While understanding Ruirui's jealousy, Xia Qing firmly explained that lying was wrong and that Wan Xinxin was not a bad person.
Ruirui, remorseful, worried that her father would stop loving her if he knew the truth. Xia Qing reassured her of Hua Ming's enduring love but insisted that Ruirui must apologize to Wan Xinxin, to which Ruirui agreed, also admitting that she had accidentally damaged the painting. Xia Qing then escorted Ruirui to Wan Xinxin's gallery, making Ruirui go in alone to apologize.
Ruirui, though scared, bravely entered and confessed to Wan Xinxin that she had hidden the painting and accidentally torn it, presenting her with a replacement drawing she had made herself. Wan Xinxin, after a playful jest about selling Ruirui to France as child labor, forgave her, emphasizing that "a good child knows how to correct their mistakes."
Ruirui, relieved and happy, told Wan Xinxin that she now understood because her dad had explained that Xinxin also liked her and that his love for Ruirui would not change if he married Xinxin. Ruirui then asked if Wan Xinxin would still go to France even if she and Hua Ming reconciled. Wan Xinxin affirmed her decision, explaining that the opportunity to go to France was too rare to pass up.
Later, Xia Qing met with Wan Xinxin, expressing gratitude for her generous forgiveness of Ruirui. She acknowledged Wan Xinxin's understanding of Ruirui's feelings, but also pointed out the special bond between Hua Ming and his daughter, with Ruirui being his central focus. Wan Xinxin reaffirmed her love for Hua Ming and her acceptance of all aspects of his life, including his ex-wife and daughter. Xia Qing then stated she was entrusting Hua Ming to Wan Xinxin.
When Xia Qing pressed Wan Xinxin again about her decision to go to France, Wan Xinxin revealed her fear of their relationship ending badly, noting the "unspoken understanding" between Hua Ming and Xia Qing that she and Hua Ming lacked. She hoped that distance would allow for a more rational decision-making process, and also to test if Hua Ming truly loved her.
Xia Qing, while expressing her own belief that true love requires perseverance, respected Wan Xinxin's choice to still go to France. Separately, at Shi Lu's company, Xu Ke presented a highly unconventional proposal during a strategy meeting. Despite Shi Lu's skepticism and accusation of him "causing trouble," Xu Ke concisely articulated his vision for children's products promotion as simply "Warmth," emphasizing the need to make pregnant women and new mothers feel cared for rather than merely offering "cold sales pitches."
To Shi Lu's astonishment, the attendees overwhelmingly supported Xu Ke's two-word concept. Faced with this unexpected consensus, Shi Lu, though still incredulous, gave Xu Ke a week to develop his "Warmth" concept into a detailed proposal, threatening to reclaim his shares if he failed. Overwhelmed, Xu Ke immediately called Wan Xinxin for help, via phone, reminding her of her past experience with similar projects.
Wan Xinxin, however, was preoccupied and told him she was too busy, having been "tortured" by Ruirui, who ruined her exhibition painting, forcing her to paint a new one to meet the deadline for France. Xu Ke, surprised she was still going, learned that the French Academy had already sent an invitation and that her decision was independent of Hua Ming.
