Despite the pampering, Wan Xinxin felt unnatural and unhappy. Qin Gang showed her to her room, assuring her that everything was as it had been before, with the addition of a crib for the baby.
He mentioned he had installed an intercom for her convenience, promising to be there in a flash if she needed anything. Qin Gang’s mother expressed her joy at Wan Xinxin's return, feeling like it was a dream and hoping they could go back to how things were. That night, Wan Xinxin made it clear she would be sleeping separately.
Qin Gang, anticipating this, told her he had already cleaned the guest room downstairs and would not come to her room without permission. At dinner, Qin Gang’s mother, who takes blood pressure medicine, cautioned Qin Gang to treat Wan Xinxin well and not upset her. She expressed hope that Wan Xinxin would eventually address her as "Mom," promising a large red envelope when she did.
Later, Qin Gang brought warm milk to Wan Xinxin, but she declined, stating she didn't have that habit. She also dismissed his offer to learn how to care for the baby. Feeling disappointed, Qin Gang spoke with his mother, who advised him to give Wan Xinxin time to adjust. Qin Gang admitted his disappointment about not being allowed into her room, but also expressed satisfaction that she was back, emphasizing the importance of a complete family.
His mother shared her life's regret of not having a complete family and urged him to always remember this lesson, especially when he inherited the family assets. Soon after, Qin Gang made an excuse about a welcome party for a CEO returning from America, leaving the house. He went to Liu Wei's place, where Liu Wei greeted him, asking if he finally decided to come back.
Qin Gang complained that Wan Xinxin was "acting crazy" and wouldn't let him into her room. He swore he wouldn't touch Wan Xinxin without Liu Wei's permission, and Liu Wei granted it jokingly. Qin Gang reassured Liu Wei that his heart would always belong to her, even when he took over the family business. He ended the call by jokingly telling her not to torture herself when he wasn't around, but she abruptly ended the conversation. At his office, Qin Gang called his mother to inform her he wouldn't be home for lunch due to a client meeting but would return early for dinner, asking her to inform Wan Xinxin. After the call, Jiang Kaiyang approached Qin Gang and was informed about Wan Xinxin moving back to the Qin household.
Jiang Kaiyang was ecstatic, believing this meant they would remarry, which would lead to his own promotion to store manager. He then rushed home to share the good news with Xu Chunli, who was watching TV. Xu Ke tried to soothe her by mentioning Wan Xinxin’s information that Liu Wei had gone back to America.
Shi Lu was surprised, revealing that Liu Wei had responded to a lawyer's letter just two days prior, refusing mediation. This meant Liu Wei was still in the country. Xu Ke immediately suspected a major conspiracy. Driven by his suspicion, Xu Ke went to Liu Wei's magazine office. He feigned being a heartbroken admirer, explaining to Liu Wei's secretary that Liu Wei was his "goddess" and he was desperate to propose before she left for America.
Moved by his passionate plea, the secretary secretly informed him that Liu Wei had not actually gone to America but was on vacation at home and did not want anyone to know. Xu Ke immediately shared this shocking revelation with Hua Ming. They both concluded that Liu Wei's lie about going to America indicated a deeper, more troubling scheme involving Qin Gang and Liu Wei. Hua Ming confronted Qin Gang at his office, demanding to know the truth.
Qin Gang openly admitted he loved Wan Xinxin and planned to remarry her. When Hua Ming questioned him about Liu Wei, Qin Gang tried to evade, saying Liu Wei had returned to America. Hua Ming pressed him to be honest, accusing him of hurting Wan Xinxin by secretly seeing Liu Wei. Qin Gang challenged him for proof.
Losing his temper, Qin Gang aggressively admitted his relationship with Liu Wei, boasting that Wan Xinxin was still devotedly following him despite this, a testament to his "charm and ability." Determined to expose Qin Gang, Hua Ming instructed Xu Ke to covertly photograph Qin Gang and Liu Wei together. Xu Ke was to find a vantage point between their respective homes, where they frequently met. However, Xu Ke only managed to capture photos of their backs, which disappointed Hua Ming.
Despite the low quality, Hua Ming chose a few clearer images, intending to confront Qin Gang. Hua Ming presented the photos to Qin Gang, who remained unfazed. Qin Gang challenged Hua Ming to confront Wan Xinxin with the photos himself, and Hua Ming agreed. At the Qin house, Qin Gang brought Hua Ming in, provocatively announcing that he wanted to confirm "how shameless Dr. Hua is" to his mother and Wan Xinxin.
Wan Xinxin opened the envelope containing the photos, and both she and Qin Gang's mother were shocked. Qin Gang's mother exclaimed, "Isn't this Liu Wei?" Hua Ming confirmed that Liu Wei had never left. Qin Gang then calmly produced his phone, showing a photo of a female business partner named Ms. Qian, whose back resembled Liu Wei's. He accused Hua Ming of fabricating evidence to ruin his relationship with Wan Xinxin.
Qin Gang's mother grew agitated, berating Hua Ming for trying to disrupt her son's happiness. Hua Ming vehemently insisted he was telling the truth, that Liu Wei and Qin Gang had never ended their affair. Qin Gang ordered him to leave his home. As Hua Ming tried to convince Wan Xinxin that Qin Gang was setting a trap and urged her to leave with him, Qin Gang's mother, overwhelmed with anger, suffered a high blood pressure attack and collapsed.
Amidst the chaos, Wan Xinxin called an ambulance. At the hospital, the doctor confirmed Qin Gang's mother was out of danger but scolded them for causing her such distress. Qin Gang furiously blamed Hua Ming, threatening him if anything serious happened to his mother. Hua Ming tried to approach Qin Gang's mother's room to apologize, but Wan Xinxin stopped him, fearing it would further upset her.
Outside the room, Hua Ming desperately tried to convince Wan Xinxin that he was telling the truth and that Qin Gang was deceiving her. However, Wan Xinxin, prioritizing Qin Gang’s mother's health, told him that the truth no longer mattered. She stated that since she had returned to the Qin family, she would face whatever consequences came her way, and asked Hua Ming to stop looking for her. Dejected, Hua Ming sought solace in alcohol.
Xu Ke, finding him drinking, tried to comfort him. Hua Ming lamented that despite acting for Wan Xinxin's own good, she was ungrateful and refused to see them. He expressed his frustration at having underestimated Qin Gang's cunning, declaring he was "done" with Wan Xinxin, only to immediately contradict himself, admitting he couldn't stop caring for her. Qin Gang's mother eventually rested, and Wan Xinxin remained by her side.
