Synopsis
In the summer of 1994, in a northern hutong alley, a girl was found "suicided" in a well. However, various signs at the scene indicated it was an intentional homicide, and the nature of the crime was particularly heinous.
After that, more girls were killed in the alleys one after another. Rumors of a "Hutong Killer" spread, casting a shadow of fear over every household.
But in those days, investigative techniques were far less advanced than they are now. There were no surveillance cameras in the hutongs, let alone DNA comparison technology. To catch a suspect, there were almost no shortcuts—just door-to-door inquiries. Even local troublemakers were called in to help with the investigation.
The police, along with their apprentice, threw themselves into the case. Holding tea mugs and riding old-fashioned bicycles, they patrolled the shabby hutong district, which covered less than three square kilometers, hunting for this serial killer.
Before taking on this case, neither of them believed in fate. But soon, as the number of victims kept rising and the district was thrown into chaos and panic, the two officers found themselves in a dire situation. Their only lead was that the killer couldn’t have escaped beyond these few alleys...
