Tang Qianyue remained upset with Ling Changfeng. Ms. Yuan attempted to mediate, but Ling Changfeng advised against it, believing Tang Qianyue was too angry to listen. He then reminded Ms. Yuan that a certain matter must be kept secret from Tang Qianyue. Ms. Yuan later encouraged Tang Qianyue to eat for the sake of her baby, but Tang Qianyue lost her appetite upon seeing Ling Changfeng.

Ling Changfeng quickly assured them he would leave once he had placed the food down. Ms. Yuan told Tang Qianyue that she would eventually realize all that Ling Changfeng had done for her, to which Tang Qianyue acknowledged his kindness, but Ms. Yuan hinted it was much more than that.

Ling Changfeng, in a private moment, spoke of his sorrow, knowing Tang Qianyue would blame him no matter his choice, but he was resolute in ensuring both she and their baby would be safe and sound. That night, Tang Qianyue feigned sleep in her room. Ling Changfeng quietly entered to cover her with a blanket, then returned to the doorway, sitting on the floor to watch over her and eventually falling asleep.

Tang Qianyue, who had not been asleep, witnessed his actions and, unwilling to let him suffer in the cold, brought out a cloak to cover him. When a mosquito landed on Ling Changfeng's face, she leaned in to blow it away, fearing that swatting it would wake him. Unexpectedly, Ling Changfeng woke up at that exact moment, causing Tang Qianyue to slap him in surprise, which left him bewildered.

The next day, Ling Changfeng brought Tang Qianyue another meal, ready to leave immediately, knowing she was still angry. Tang Qianyue called him back and invited him to listen to their baby's heartbeat. She even proposed a name for their child, Sisi, derived from the word "miss." Tang Qianyue expressed her understanding of Ling Changfeng's deep struggles over the past year, burdened by the well-being of his loved ones, including her, his elder sister Bao Zhu, and Changjin.

She confessed her fear of what would become of him if she were no longer there, hoping to leave him a healthy child to accompany him. Ling Changfeng reassured her firmly, promising that both she and their baby would be fine. Meanwhile, The Honorable sensed something amiss and summoned Jin Ming to question him about Ling Changfeng and Tang Qianyue. Jin Ming reported that Ling Changfeng and his wife had left the capital months ago with no definite return date.

He added that Tang Qianyue had been injured by a Butterfly Slave on New Year's Eve, but, unlike others who perished that night, she miraculously recovered within days. This revelation, coupled with Ling Changfeng's earlier urgent request for Kirin blood, led The Honorable to conclude that the Kirin blood had saved Tang Qianyue, and he deduced she must be a Butterfly Slave.

Recalling that Ling Changfeng's wife had an unstable pulse during pregnancy, possibly due to a condition related to the Ink-Peony Flower, The Honorable ordered Jin Ming to fully disclose everything about Tang Qianyue's origins. He then immediately gathered his troops and rode towards Ling Changfeng's secluded dwelling. As Tang Qianyue's due date approached, Ms. Yuan encouraged her to walk more to aid the delivery, but Ling Changfeng remained constantly worried about her exertion, carefully assisting her every step.

Soon, The Honorable arrived with his men, intending to apprehend Tang Qianyue. Ling Changfeng reacted swiftly, pressing his sword against The Honorable's neck, bringing the entire contingent to a standstill. The intense situation triggered Tang Qianyue's labor. Ling Changfeng, dropping his sword, declared that he was about to become a father. This appeal moved The Honorable, who then allowed Tang Qianyue to enter to give birth.

Inside, Tang Qianyue, in pain, reminded Ling Changfeng of his promise to protect their child, and he earnestly reiterated his commitment. After Tang Qianyue successfully gave birth to a daughter, The Honorable held the newborn. He acknowledged Ling Changfeng's determination, understanding Ling Changfeng's long-standing resentment over the handling of his elder sister, Bao Zhu, but asserted his own duty to protect the city and its people from threats.

Ling Changfeng, in turn, acknowledged The Honorable's principles but declared his primary duty was now to protect his wife and daughter. He revealed his plan to make Tang Qianyue (and by extension, their daughter) normal using the "Ink-Peony Soup," a highly dangerous method with a nine-out-of-ten chance of death, and pleaded for his father's trust. Moved by his son's plea, The Honorable, in a moment of compassion, gave him a chance, trusting that Ling Changfeng would succeed.

Ling Changfeng, knowing this might be their last encounter as father and son, called out "Father," urging him to take care of his health and apologizing for being unfilial. The Honorable, as he departed with his subordinate Sang Qi, responded with a resigned "Rebellious son."
